In light of yet another horrific defensive display today, it is imperative that Jamie Carragher be brought back in immediately as defensive coach.

None of the members of the existing coaching staff have the necessary qualifications for this role.

Brendan Rodgers himself has done an incredible job on creating superb attacking football for this team, but he needs urgent help on his defence. Martin Skrtel needs to be taken out of the firing line for the game at Southampton because his rashness in decision making is causing a sense of panic to come over the entire defence.

When Carragher came back into the team during last season instead of Skrtel the goals against for the rest of that season decreased dramatically.

Some points about the FA Cup.

Chelsea showed today against Man City how little they rate the FA Cup. Liverpool should do the same against Arsenal.

Staying in the FA Cup until the business end of the season will reduce the focus that would be needed to get a top 4 finish.

Qualifying for the Europa League via the FA Cup would mean Thursday night European football next season which would greatly affect next season;s performances in the Premier League as Tottenham can testify in the first half of this season.

The FA Cup is not worth bothering with these days.

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea has won the FA Cup for times in the past 6 or 7 seasons. They were beaten by the better side.}

In relation to Sunday's Fa Cup game against Arsenal, too many Liverpool fans however well meaning are placing too much significance in the FA cup.

The only 2 competitions that matter are the Premier League and the Champions League in any season. The FA Cup and the League Cup have no relevance anymore.

Liverpool would gain around 30 million if they qualified for next season's Champions League whereas winning the FA Cup and qualifying for the Europa League would gain them no more than 5 million pounds.

The greatest manager in the club's history Bob Paisley never won the FA Cup-not because he wasn't good enough to do it but because he saw no benefit to the club in it.

BRENDAN-YOU ARE WELL CAPABLE NOW AND IN YOUR MANY YEARS TO COME AS LIVERPOOL MANAGER BECOMING AS GREAT A LIVERPOOL MANAGER AS PAISLEY BUT TO QUOTE A LATIN WORD THAT I KNOW YOU WILL APPRECIATE-'CARPEDIUM'.

It is vital that Suarez and Sturridge are kept out of the team against Arsenal-you have no-one to replace them with if they get injured.

The win against Fulham was a great result and a lot of credit must go to Brendan for getting such a gutsy performance from the players.

I know Brendan would like to win the FA Cup but finishing in the top four in the league is crucial. Just as Dalglish got the bullet when he won the League Cup but finished outside the top four, FSG will not be satisfied with an FA Cup win instead of a top four finish and they will look to change the manager in the summer if this failure occurs.

It is imperative that Suarez and Sturridge are rested on Sunday against Arsenal because there is every likelihood that they would get injured. They must be played solely in the remaining 12 Premier League games. Without one or both of them in the remaining 12 League games Liverpool will fail to make a top four finish and that is definite.

It would be best for Liverpool that Arsenal win on Sunday as it would force Arsenal into more distractions from their Premier League games and make their players more fatigued.

Rafa Benitez made this mistake in 2008 when he played Torres in a meaningless FA Cup game against Reading at Anfield. Liverpool lost the game that night and Torres got injured and missed crucial games in the league and this was the season Liverpool finished 2nd on 86 points behind United.

Arsene Wenger is talking about resting 6 players for Sunday. He clearly wants Arsenal to get knocked out because he wants Liverpool's quest for top four to be distracted by the FA Cup.

PLEASE REMEMBER BRENDAN FSG WANT CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUALIFICATION ASSURED THIS MAY-THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE FA CUP.

Brendan, you need to target higher than fourth place as Tottenham are coming fast and if Man United somehow won the Champions League fourth place in the Premier League would lose out on the Champions League qualification.

Brendan, you are doing a brilliant job, you are very close to the Promised Land of the Champions League-please realize that the FA Cup is a distraction for the club that is not financially beneficial. The financial benefits for the club from Champions League qualification both in terms of attracting more marquee players this summer like Suarez, Sturridge and Gerrard and in substantially increased commercial revenue far outweigh any financial gain that would be accrued from winning the FA Cup and in this new world of Financial Fair Play this must be the clear aim of the club ie Champions League qualification this May.

We Liverpool fans know that Wednesday's game against Fulham is not going to be easy. After every notable result in the last few weeks the team has crashed down to earth big time in the following game. After beating Stoke the players choked against Villa, after beating Everton the players choked against West Brom.

Despite Brendan Rodgers best efforts the team will mess up against Fulham, that is an undoubted certainty. The team will mistakenly think that Fulham will be a pushover, that will be a huge miscalculation.

The players must realize that in order to get the 3 points tomorrow night, the players must produce the same level of performance that they did against Arsenal. They need to score at least 2 early goals in the first 10 minutes in order to get Fulham to push up and leave huge spaces for Liverpool to counterattack and add to those 2 early goals.
