Hi Eds, Now I'm not normally one for conspiracy theories, but I honestly don't think the last 2 transfer windows were anything more than FSG balancing the books. I don't think they had any real intention of spending at all and I wish they had just come out and said this.

Are we really that inept at transfer dealings to make offers to clubs way under their valuation and expect to sit back for 2 ½ months and wait for the phone to ring, (Salah)

I think you'll find as a rule of thumb the selling club prices their own players not us?

Reports that we were not willing to make a large down payment on Konoplyanka nor make the payment in time does not come as a surprise to me.

Look at previous attempted signings Dempsey/Gylfi/ Willian If we had acted quickly and sensibly in our offers could they not have been bought.

If we had put in a strong/quick bid for Mhkhitaryan before Dortmund had interest could we have got our man?

Do we do enough to make the player feel wanted (by drastically under valuing them)?

If the any of the above were indeed our priority targets someone should be held accountable, and I think the fans deserve an explanation.

People may say there is a lot of red tape involved, hold ups etc. etc. Is this not the case for Chelsea as well? Or is the difference they meet the asking price, pay a decent down payment and in some cases speak to the player (Mourinho called Salah)

The pity is if we had got say Mhkhityran and Kono I think we might well have turned the last few draws into wins and could actually have a a shot at the league.

BR has had to awkwardly defend our transfer dealings or lack of, when inside he must be fuming.

FSG are making BR pay for their mistakes in appointing Commolli/Dalglish and throwing away all that money.

I'm sure to some fickle fans being linked with players will make FSG look like they are trying to get their men. But are they really?

Would respect the owners a lot more if they were honest. because they have obviously told BR money will be available.

If we make top 4 BR has worked miracles, IF we don't maybe the owners will give him the money he needs to add quality to starting XI, Unfortunately this will probably come as consequence of Suarez leaving.

{Ed001's Note - that would explain the signings of Ilori and Sakho then.....}

.
Just when we thought we were doomed LFC pull of a master stroke.
Ian Ayre is currently in a Kiev hotel knocking back the voddy like a good un just waiting for his moby to ring.
Earlier today he wrote a bid on the back of a fag packet and faxed it to Dynamo Kiev for Yarmalenko.
apparently we value him at 4m euros, 4 goats and a Cat plus add ons.
Just waiting for the call.

WOW BR has some tough decisions to make.
I hope I am safe in thinking he understands now that every time lucus doesn't play we are wide open to counter attacks, I knew we would struggle today as no one can fill his position, and with his injury FSG may be forced to dig a little deeper this window.

Defensively we are a shambles even though we have about 15 defenders on our books.

I think he also need to make a decision on SG future, for me he slows our play down and we need to look forward and not to what a great player he was. and oops he clearly is no DM as BR found out in first half.

good recovery from the boys though hendo good second half was high point, sturridge moody and did not work hard enough today. cissoko OMG, coutinho what's happened? were going to need to beat the big boys at home now to keep 4 th place.

Ed's a little confused about LFC/FSG transfer policy. Maybe someone could shed a little light on it.

It would appear we identify a young/hungry player that would fit in to BR's style of play and that would have a decent sell on figure. (Sound good up to now)

We then seem to leak info of our intentions to media and put other clubs on alert.

If we are feeling really bold we may speak to players representatives or their club and make enquiry of their availability.

Now we inform their club we have vastly undervalued their top player and make a low offer and wait to see what happens.

What happens is another club is willing to pay nearer the required figure and the player is seeing that other clubs are more willing to pay for his services than ourselves.

And we look elsewhere?

When are we going to go that extra mile to make a player feel wanted/important?

If we believe players are going to jump at the chance to play for LFC it's going to be a long window.

{Ed002's Note - No Dave. Clubs are not hanging on to see what Liverpool are doing.}

Is anyone else slightly concerned that one of our biggest problems last season has not yet been rectified. our lack of goals from midfield. BR said the following on Joe Allen 3 days ago.
" Joe is a wonderful technician. He's not going to be someone who is going to get 15 goals a season - that's not his game."
Unfortunately it's not hendo's, lucus or gerrards game either?
All teams need the type of player that is good in possesion, breaking up play, pressing. But a midfield full of them?
I hope BR also see's this problem and looks to strengthen in jan. Aresenal are the benchmark at the moment look at their midfield five that started against us without Wilshere.
ozil, rosicky, carzola, arteta, ramsey. full of creativity and goals.
