Is it true that Valbuena is available for £7 million? If so, do any Eds know if there's interest from any PL sides?

AdamTheBaddun

{Ed002's Note - Fiorentina, Seville, Zenit, Arsenal and Newcastle have enquired about Valbuena's availability but it is Fiorentina and Valencia who have made offers for the player and a chance remains of a player-exchange with Valencia. Marseille are willing to sell this summer and have Batshuayi as a replacement. Marseille have not been approached by West Ham at this time but Marseille are available of interest.}

Is there any truth to this supposed deleted tweet from Koloplyanka's agent saying Liverpool met the release clause but the owner refused to sign the papers?

And if so, isn't that a breach of contract?

The club made a statement about Lallana's injury. Can only hope this means Markovic is unlikely to miss the start of the season

GiveMeSport are saying that Ronaldo is not happy with the proposed purchase of Suarez.

Even if this is true, I can't imagine a single players opinion would affect the transfer strategy of a club like RM, but then again he is the best player in the league.

I know its not exactly the most reliable of sources as well, but have any Eds heard anything?

Question for any Ed; it seems like Southampton won't budge from 30 mil which is obviously their prerogative and fair enough to them.

Therefore, if Lallana were to hand in a transfer request, is there any reason at all to think that their valuation would change?

Clearly a transfer request has no contractual force, so is it likely to actually change anything at all as some people seem to be suggesting?

Cheers in advance and thanks for your hard work

AdamTheBaddun

{Ed001's Note - they would get to keep more of the transfer fee were he to hand in a transfer request but it is unlikely to alter their valuation much.}

Any truth to rumours of Barca interest in Rodgers? I know the Mirror talks a lot of sh*te but he is a fluent Spanish speaker with only a year left on his current deal

AdamTheBaddun

{Ed002's Note - I answered this earlier - he wants to work in Spain at some point but I doubt now would be right for him.}

Not a rumour, but interested to hear the eds take on this; there's a story in the Echo reporting that teams are statistically likely to finish 2 places lower in their domestic leagues due to participation in the Europa League, further adding to the sense that the EL is trapdoor to be avoided rather than an opportunity for professional achievement.

Are UEFA aware of the apparent contempt felt by most of English football towards their second competition, and is this contempt shared in other countries? If so, are UEFA fully aware of this and to they have any plans at all to address the 'image problem' that the competition has?

Thanks for all the hard work eds, love the site.

AdamTheBaddun

{Ed002's Note - The data set will not be large enough to draw significant inclusions. I don't think UEFA know of any "image" issues. If Liverpool don't wish to play in the competition then they can simply say so and not play.}

Not to complicate things further, but my understanding is that in other cases based on the Webster ruling, the arbitration authorities have stated that the cost of compensation should be the 'actual harm' done to the club by the buy-out of the contract, and not the player's wages.

Would this not 'actual harm' not be the cost of replacing the player or even the lost transfer fee?

Thanks for the insights Ed

{Ed002's Note - Taking random examples does not add to any argument.}
