maybe it time to find someone who has retired. it seems to be the trend now that scholes is back and Henry.

Maybe liverpool should call on Robbie Flower.lol (robbie kean)

Could you imagine a young robbie fowler in this team? we'd have the league sown up by now and life would be good again :))

Sticking with the trend of fielding players who used to be great, Chelsea are planning to start Fernando Torres in their next match

if people think hoillet is the sort of player we shud b goin for god help us we will b a top 6 team at best we need sum1 the calibre of arjen robben and soldado,....the hawk

Hoilett is a young player, much the same as Robben and Soldado were at some stage in their career. Hoilett shows a great deal of promise, much the same as, yes you guessed it! Robben and Soldado would have at some point in their development. Soldado was not really that highly rated worldwide until a few weeks into last season, as Hoilett is already attracting interest. But in saying that i'd be more than happy with Soldado too...

Red7.

I very rarely subscribe to using these abbreviations, but LOL.

Arjen Robben, the man is a weasel. Injury prone. Very little final product. Stip watching his highlight reel. Not to mention his best days are clearly past him.

In addition, Hoilett while not currently someone who you feel will propel us to top 4, perhaps it would be worth considering potential that can be developed by Kenny.
I'm sure that at 21 Hoilett could develop
into a star. For the past 10years, this country has produced athletes and not ball players. Hoilett is two-footed. We are a pass and move team, that requires players who can hold the ball and pass.

Soldado, I'll give you that one.

D-Day(1892)

Before the inevitable happens. I am aware Hoilett is Canadian.

D-Day(1892)

People here seem to ignore the reality, that Liverpool will not be splurging 40 - 50 million pounds in January. There are NO players in Europe who are available who would be a guaranteed star immediately in the premierleague. Perhaps if Aguero, Modric, Rooney, or other unreachable premier league star were available for 30 million, then maybe that would be worth the risk. But who out there is guaranteed to be a star right away and propel us to top 4? All those touted on this site (Hazard, Soldado, De Jong) have serious potential, but you have to remember that they are going to take time to settle in premier league and at the exorbatant prices in January, it makes far more sense to wait til the summer to endeavour these sort of purchases. I suspect Kenny/Commoli/Owners are looking at a 'safe bet' player(s) that are reasonably priced, and who will have a long term future at the club. Sure we would all love to sign Messi, but the reality is, buying stars in January is costly and risky. Chelsea showed the world that when they bought Torres. Suarez was a notable exception, but lets face it, the boy is one of a kind.

I really dont see us (liverpool) signing a world class player maybe 1 or 2 low quey players what you think ed's ?

Give the King's video on the official website a watch. It's an example of dignity personified. Must be very difficult to say a few things about how the club had been vilified. I think Kenny has a look in his eye that suggests he is determined to prove people wrong. If you have a winning team, with trophies in your cabinet your arguments hold more weight. Clearly through a perceived lack of bitterness

Let's give an almighty positive push for our boys. Let's show our collective strength. Big voice, loud crowds, positive messages to the players.

Let's show the true spirit of YNWA.

The King is back. Long live the King.

Brazil's Neymar wins FIFA Puskas Award

Plus Alex Ferguson was looking at him all night.lol

Maybe that's why he got that ginger geriatric in. To save money. They keep bleating on about 50m they have to spend.

Neymar, the lad has real quality. In an innocent style, just looks like a kid with a ball at times. Throwback Brasilian. Hope the mancs don't get him.

D-Day(1892)

The way he gets around the last defender is something else, I found myself how the F did he do that, I think the defender was thinking the same.

Ed, I read earlier about someone from the club arriving in Qatar. To join as partners with United Nations, for impoverished and kids that are in war torn countries. It was on the Official site, then it was deleted (for some reason). Do you know if this was organised before, the racism row? And why would they have deleted it?

Thanks

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Ps. I had to read it from Kop That.com, if anyone wants to read it.

{Ed002's Note - I am afraid I cannot help Blair but I will see if I can find out.}

I'm bamboozled and angry Ed mate. This seems to be true, but yet the club retracted/deleted it, from the Official site? And I havn't seen nothing on our official channel, about it.

This is the best news, we've had in a while, so why not shout it from the rooftops? The good PR that would come from this, would do us no harm.

I don't know who our PR man is, but he's not very good at it. lol

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96
{Ed002's Note - I have made an enquiry Blair.}

Can you post a link please Blair mate? Cheers,

maka YNWA JFT96

I got it from KopThat, maka mate. They copied it before the Offical site pulled it. Just type 'Reds in Qatar' into your browser and you'll see that a few sites have it. It seems the club did not delete it quick enough. The Offical LFC page is on Newsnow-liverpool, which says 'this.item has been deleted'

But why even delete it at all?

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

What does war-torn, impoverished kids have to do with racism anyhow - I don't see the link - it means LFC are charitable but doesnt necessarily improve our image regarding racism, does it? Or am I missing something?

10 Jan 2012 09:15:50
I was thinking the same Blair. I was browsing NewsNow: Liverpool this morning and it was up near the top of the page. When I clicked on the article it took me to an error page on the official website. As of this second, it is in the 'Top Stories (last 24 hours)' panel on the right hand side of the NewsNow page.

The link is:
www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/reds-arrive-in-qatar?

As I say, the link just takes you to an error page, but why? {Ed002's Note - It is simply a dead link.}

Should the boot room return?
I mean, continue the history. Have ex players back to scout, help coach, help management and be ready to take over should that be required.

Maybe have..
Fowler
Rush
Barnes
Molby
Babbel
Hamman
Hypia
Mcmanaman
Carragher
All learning the different roles of management , scouting and coaching.

Fowler, Barnes and Mcmanaman would make good coach's or scouts but not management.
Hypia, Carragher and Hamman could become good management or coaches

Ive thought about this before, I see no reason why it shouldn't happen.
I think the boot room played a big part in us being so dominant in the past.

Ashy

That would be amazing. I think Rush is our striking coach already and Carragher will be our manager one day.
Scouse Pride

Reading through that list just shows how lucky we have been as fans. To watch those players has been a privilege.

Why not? Surely Rushie can pick a striker and identify talent? Barnes? Th finest player of his generation. Yeah he could let us know if someone can fill that winger void. Molby, easy, he'd say we should have never sold
Xabi.

For this transfer window I'd go:

Zarate, Hoilett and Banega. Squad would be immense. Top 4? No problem.

I am ALL for this!

I cant for one moment belive carragher has what it takes to be a manager, we would end up playing like the old wimbledon, hoof it lads just hoof it is probably all you would hear from the side lines.

does anyone else think Rafa should be going for the QPR job. Mark Huges is going to piss that money up the wall like he always does. Wouldn't it be better to get a champions league winner. A Special One.lol

Rafa has been out of the game for very long time and he still lives in england. QPR are a premiership club.

If QPR are able to spend money to build a new stadium and training ground. Then QPR could be trendy place for players to go and play considering it is london. Neil Warnock went out and spent on some players

Well its a hardworking team, that might need a big craft such as a lassen. Liverpool FC: 'Dark Days' of Rafa Now Seem Like the Fondest of Memories. To be out of football for two seasons is like a lifetime. I would like to see him back in English football

Raffa's holding out for either City ( highly rumoured for the summer as Mancini wants to go back to Italy), Chelsea or Real Madrid.
Anything can happen

After managing teams like Liverpool, Valencia and Inter I very much doubt he'd want the QPR job

I think Rafa's gonna be the next Englad boss!

Rafa will take over from harry at spurs when harry goes for england job

Rafa could very well go for this job. It may not look like it at this early stage, but there is some serious cash behind QPR and a season or 2 in the top flight without a relegation scrap will see them build a big enough reputation to use this cash, so expect big things. but in saying that, i remember saying this about west ham about 4 or 5 years ago......
I'll shut up now

Red7.

It wouldnt suprise me at all if rafa came back, how long can daglish manage for hes already 65 i think

{Ed006's Note - 60 and Fergie is like 900, plenty of years in Kenny if he wants to stay. I wouldnt get exited over a return of Rafa.}

My bad i thought he was a year older than hodgson

In the last few days I've read many post regrading the possible singning of Podolski and that it woult be so great. How many times have you seen him play, because I can tell you he is not the kind of player Liverpool should buy in Jan. His shooting is amazing, but that's it. His pace and his skill aren't exceptional. Whithout question he is a good player but no one who will help as getting back in the Top4. Just have a look at his past seasons. They weren't that great. Obviously he has a great run this season but don't ecpect him to continue this way.

Liverpool should look on more promising players because many of you would give him a bad time (like they do regarding Carroll) and would not support him after a few games.

That's just my opinion, because I've followed him since his start of his career.

Think about what you wish for ^^

Matty

Young players have never done well at the club. When LFC buy someone, they use them and spit them out. Chances are few and far between. Carrol needs to be playing week in and week out and he will never get that at LFC because we want instant success and player players all the time.

Only shooting matters if he gets us goals that what we need an end product........

He's basically worthless at club level, he gives everything for his country, but that's it

TRANSFER ALERT

My source in Spain, who is rarely wrong has just been on the phone to me and has assured me that Barca are preparing a player plus cash deal for Luis Suarez, now my source is an expert at selling sun glasses and straw hats on the beach and he was talkin to Pep Guardiola the other day, he offered him some genuine Police sunglasses for a reduced price if he gave him a bit of genuine transfer information, Pep knows a bargain when he hears 1 and jumped at this offer, the deal is made up of €50m and Leo Messi, apparently the Barca team are sick of Messi because he slurps his tea and farts a lot, my mate is so lucky to get info like this you could even call him lucky lucky.

Samson Rasher

Really? When was the last time you heard of a player plus cash deal going through? I can't recall a single one in last 5 years. These deals only happen in people's imagination.

Ibrahimovic, Eto'o + cash was what Barca paid for him

Did you think he was being serious?

Slurps his tea and farts a lot, that is class lol

I think Liverpool should go after Goetze, Hazard, Neymar and Hulk. Would only cost about 200 million, but what a team we'd have.

Dreamer

How much money does this person think we have...clueless!

No, he's a dreamer mate.

If you can't differentiate between sarcasm and idiocy you really shouldn't post.

Perhaps we should have recruited T. Henry. First game back, scores winning goal for Arsenal. Nice touch too.

He is still class, masterstroke by Wenger, great to see Henry in action, always like his style of play!.

Apparently we inquired about him but he already had his heart set on a move back to Arsenal. I genuinely don't think he'd be the same player at any other club anyway to be honest. Great player though, for me probably the best I've ever seen in his prime, just marginally ahead of Messi and Gerrard

Arsenal get Henry, ManU get Scholes...who would you take back for Liverpool? For me, given our current needs, it would be Torres, Alonso or Mascherano (or all 3).

All the best
Paul C

Alonsoo with out a doubt the lad was forced out by rafa and could pick a pass out anywhere on the pitch

jayblair89

Just alonso d chap loved liverpool. shame on benitez on that one. torres left us for the chavs.......THE CHAVS!!!!!! MANIAC. HE WAS IDOLISED,lucas far better than mascherano also

Alonso, Masch, Djimi Traore, Sean Dundee, Torres - my top 5 in that order

Hi, Liverpool supporter but i do not normally post on this page.Everything seems far too polarised.Either most
of the players are rubbish and kenny should go OR all is well in the world and we just need time,in Kenny we trust etc etc. My views are somewhere in the middle of those two so no place for me..But I have again had my ass kicked by Ed007 on the united page so I have come here for shelter (be gentle with me)

I firmly believe that Robin Van Persie deserved a spot in the world 11 ahead of Wayne Rooney

Garth

Rooney wouldn't even get in a premiership eleven.

Chris in Tamworth

Why don't you stick to supporting your local team Chris in Tamworth. Your boys did well sat btw at everton {Ed005's Note - On the basis that you are also a Liverpool fan I could say you should do the same thing - no teams down in the Southern Area you live in then? Don't throw stones in glass houses. LFC is a global club.}

Haha chris you're so right! I don't think he'd even make the bench, what with RVP, Suarez, Aguero, Balotelli and Sturridge right now

Red Ollie

Does it matter where you live? Does it matter if you can't afford to go to many games? Does that make you any less of a supporter? No, I've supported Liverpool for the majority (Atleast 13 years of the 17 I've lived for) and I have never even lived near them. We all have our reason for supporting the club and would we be where we are today with only support from Liverpool? Not to mention all the fans from all around the world which contribute money to the club. Are they any less of a supported because they were born on another continent??

09 Jan 2012 21:11:36
from what i have just seen from liverpools reservers we are in desperate need of a complete club overall' there is not one stand out player who i think could come in and do a job for us'very very poor;GOD HELP US

It's last season's U18s mate, all the players on that team have made a total of about 10 first team appearances. Plus we were missing Suso and the lads seem to be off form as of late. You are clearly clueless if you think that none of them could do a temp job in the first 11.

Martin

The reserves last night played pretty well... against a Bolton team containing 4-5 players with first team experience including Davis and Tuncay. Largely we missed a lot of chances, hit the post (on a number of occasions for Adorjan) but dominated possession and kept going.

You need to watch the reserves more often. I can name 4-5 with a very reasonable chance of being involved by next season in some capacity.

Richards

09 Jan 2012 21:02:38
I think all this speculation is nonsense. Liverpool are not going to bring in anyone.

The same was thought last Jan until Suarez was signed a few days before the window shut. Dont expect movement until at least another 2 weeks.

There's no rule that says we have to bring someone in - we're doing pretty well for half way through the season. I think everyone would like to see a striker bought but the options are limited in January

cozinoz

No, there was no movement untill Torres was sold. We will not be doing any business in this window.

Brilliant display for Reserves today against a bit experienced Bolton. Must say, unlucky to win. Toni Silva was amazing, he seems to be ready for a loan move out atm. He looked class. Many chances created, hitting the woodwork twice and O my word unlucky there with Adorjan. Hope, you've watched the game. Hope, some of these guys would have a fantastic career here. Best wishes for all. YNWA

09 Jan 2012 20:47:25
Tony silva looks good for reserves. Perhaps a first team appearance is on the cards?

09 Jan 2012 20:41:06
I understand Lucas will be back for next season but that position, along with a striker, seems to me to be the most important right now. The gaps between our midfield and the centre backs is shocking. Unless Gerrard moves back to that position we need to buy someone.

As for a striker I guess KK and DC have an idea who they want but we seem to be missing an Owen type player who will pretty much just goal hang and fire them in from 6 yards. Suarez is class but he's never going to get 20 goals a season and Carroll is too slow to be up front alone.

09 Jan 2012 20:35:35
you dont half see some s**te on here.....I seriously believe KK is looking to bring in at least 2 new faces....A right winger would be very desireable and perhaps cover for Suarez if they can get the right man
Seriously though, who decent is going to be availabke at this stage of the season ? Like last year, we paid 35m for Andy Carroll and although i think he will come good given time, it's still way over the top
I think we will see 2 possibly 3 new faces comming in and i think one of those will be De Jong

REDdAZ

Reportedly Hoilett's avaliable for 8m and he is worth that.

Please ed's can I please get any info on soldado, ? ? As I think he would be the final piece of a title chasing side
{Ed002's Note - Certainly Liverpool have shown some interest in Soldado who is having a good season but his availability in January is by no means certain. Milan were also interested in the player but have perhaps been a little distracted by Tevez but PSG are beginning to see if Soldado could be attracted to Paris. At about 25M euro or more Soldado would not be cheap.}

Can people please stop asking about Soldado?! I feel bad for the Ed's having to cut and paste this response every time (and they have been doing it for two months). Soldado is not coming. He is the top player on a successful team (Valencia are in third in La Liga. What would be the motive to leave? Maybe for mega bucks, but they won't be offered at Liverpool).

Coop

Valencia aren't a successful team. They haven't done anything notable in ages and go out the CL every year at either the groups or round of 16. They're a selling club and haven't improved in 6 years.

Martin

Martin

Valencia top players want champs lge and only one team can win it every year, so being in the group stages is better than not being in it all which Liverpool have not ,so like it or not that makes them more attractive to players than us.

As much as I love Liverpool, we haven't done anything notable since the Gerrard FA cup final and we cant guarantee CL football (yet). We're also not renowned for paying high wages so where is the incentive for Soldado to come here?

cozinoz

Hi fellow reds I personally think that king kenny will stick with Carroll with gerrard just in behind till Suarez back. There won't be any spending at all were just starting to gel again hopfully gerrard stays fit. Cheers jodethered

Have to agree with you mate. We won't be buying anyone expensive, though Hoilett may be a reasonable purchase at the fee being touted (ie. less than 10 million)

09 Jan 2012 19:45:38
Gman why don't u support man utd they love so called fans like you over there . Take saurez out the team and we be relagation zone . Adam, downing , Carroll, hendo, comoli

To be fair I hear that comoli is not as fast as he used to be and his first touch is bad but that's why he doesn't get in the starting line up that much -McMenemy

What am I not allowed to form an oppinion on 1 player yet your criticising half the signings Dalglish has made and our director of football and you think your the type of fan this club needs, why would I support United I pinned my colours to my chest 25 years ago and I have never once regreted it, I'm pretty sure without Suarez's 5 goals this season we wouldn't be relgation zone either I think our success this season is mostly down to our back 5, I can't understand the mindset of some of the people on here who fling abuse around doubting peoples support, claiming lack of knowledge, arm chair supporter all because I don't share the same opinion as them, independent thought mate just 1 of the things that make people great, why don't you try it for a change instead of going with the rest of the "Carroll's rubbish, Adam can't pass" brigade, you might just find it opens your eyes to your mundane boring existence and inspires you to actually do something rather than just criticise people who aren't exactly the same as you.

BREAKING NEWS!!
some people just chat etihs, as liverpool fans we all have opinions whom we want at our club, but its down to kk and dc whom they want. we need a striker that can score enough goals to get us in top4.
then in the summer buy players that will make us even better. yes we need wingers with pace for counter attacking, but need striker with pace.
so come 1st feb, speculation will start again on the summer buys. bent is useless, hoilett wait til free we waited for adam, if a player wants to play for lfc then he will move mountains, not just chase the money. so inconclusion. can people stop chatting etihs. thank you.
and on a side note, kompany red card should stand, spearings did and it was not as bad. ynwa

I hate it when they you heard it first. didnt know KD and DC used this site. it is now the 9th jan and no signings have been made. so nobody has heard it first, read it first, got hot news etc. with all the big games coming up has nobody thought maybe WE WONT BE SIGNING ANYONE. maybe KD and DC might be under the impression that what we have are good enough till summer when it is worthwhile buying someone whos transfer fee isnt january inflated. yes some say we need a striker others we need a winger others kuyt is passed it etc. i for one will be happy if we wait till summer having got cl qualification. i say having got not maybe or if we get, we are all entitled to an opinion but come on some of the rumours are just c==p. billy

Ed002, if your about, a general question... with the "Beckham Law" being repealed in Spain do you see much of an impact on the signings/wages paid to Spanish based players and their league generally?

Richards {Ed002's Note - I don't see an enormous impact as the Spanish revenue are willing to negotiate on a case-by-case basis. No doubt a flurry of trusts etc will appear.}

I thought that might be the case, thought it might be more headline grabbing than anything...

Thanks

I've just seen FIFA's world 11. Looks like Vidic and Rooney are included. Give me a second so I can check which Liverpool players made the team so I can offer my congratulations to the current great Liverpool legendary players on their inclusion. Just going through the team now;
Keeper, no, defenders, no, midfield, no, strikers, no.
Oh, this is awkward.

Errr, I honestly thought Stuart Downing, Jordan Henderson or Andy Carroll would be automatic picks for the FIFA world 11 team.

Liverpool supporters, this is an outrage!

You must apportion blame to others, and not Liverpool FC. It must be the fault of Sir Alex Ferguson, the media, the FA, referees, and somehow, the Suarez independent disciplinary committee! Everybody is against Liverpool, so don't forget to add FIFA to your naughty step list from now on!

Circle the wagons round and get King Kenny to issue a couple of innappropriate statements saying, this time, you maintain your players are the bestest in the world, even though the evidence suggests otherwise, and you don't care what anyone thinks!
Oh, and print more classy T-shirts immediately!

That'll show 'em!

Sir Alex x

Sir Alex, obvious rivalries aside, if you really think Rooney is good enough to get in a world eleven then you really do need to up the meds!

With my last post stating our best players , belamy has been great this year , who's fault he was sold last time .... His I'm afraid hitting players with golf clubs !!

Two sides to every story mate.

DaveyBootle

I would love someone to clear up the golf club story for me cos I don't think I've ever heard it fully explained. It's always seemed obvious to me that it was massively blown up simply because if you attack someone with a golf club with any real force or intent then you are gonna do a lot of damage and that wasn't the case.

Chris in Tamworth

I agree mate , but at the time most fans loved rise !,don't get me wrong love belamys never die atatuide !!
But he could start a fight in a room on his own !

To chris , I'm Jay by the way , are u the same as on talksport ?

Steve Finnan stopped him in time, from what I heard that lads were having a couple of beers Bells had one to many and got really angry that Riise didn't want sing a song with him at kareoke, they argued Riise went up to his room, Bells followed and had swing at him up there. Might be rubbish though, long time since I heard it.

Let's all be honest,I don't think people hate carroll, however what's bugging every1 including me is the price paid for his service,I'm sure many people will agree, with that sort of amount spend on him we could had a star known striker,I'm not sure whether will he ever be more good than what he's now,and just a footballing thought with him in team opposition will know that liverpool will play direct football and will target him with crosses maybe that's why when he plays its very hard for liverpool to score as he's easily marked, like against city I don't know what others think....?

It's just a pity our players were not sat down before the season started and given a list of players not to get involved with during the course of a game. Pretty sure mr evra would've been on that list. I'm quite sure other clubs will now be educating their players as to which opposition players not to get involved with verbally during the course of a game if you know what I mean?
kidmillions

=======================================
I take it you never played football. Even at school level if you have to worry about which player you can and cannot tackle before the game even started then you have lost half your game before kick off, I know you didn't mean tackling , but the same principle apply, because if you tackle a mouthy player he will come back at you.
Most likely the players would've been told the nature of those known to have a temperament 'Evra' included, but they will be told for the exact opposite reason, you want to anger them, make them loose their composure and start making mistakes. Why do think most of the opposition defenders keep elbowing Suarez and kick his legs from behind etc ..

Roy

Roy; I think you missed the point! Exactly what you said goes on! my point was a tongue in cheek reference to not being able to goad certain players as they'll run to the authorities if you happen to say something they don't like.
As for playing football I started playing in open age football from the age of 15 and played at really good level in Liverpool till I was 34 and I could also look after myself, so go preach somewhere else and learn to read properly.

We've two thirds of the Jan transfer left and i would imagine the rumours will be even more outragous than they are right now.
I know there are posters just having a laugh, which is fine by me. Then there is the ones who copy straight from the net and pretend to be in the know, which is pretty anoying, but pretty amusing. and of course there are the real bull s**tters who can't even be bothered to concoct storys that have just a tiny bit of feasabilty about them. you jnow the type, spotting players at airport, family and friend closely linked with the club, spotted players in the shoping malls, just came back from holiday. had a chat with a player who said, i am signing for Liverpool. relatives and friends in the likes of spain who have facts about players moving to Liverpool. finally there are all those potential signings which keep turning up at Melwood. Its what makes this site so brilliant. Because there are those of us who know, its a piss take mostly, but we hang on for something genuine. Why? Thats the appeal of this site. We want to be the first to know, so we can tell our friends and family, because its exiting the possibilty marque signing arriving at the club and mainly because we are very impatient.

To the bull s**tters, please make your fiction sound more factual. Show some respect to the likes of me. who is an ardent reader of this site. just a liitle bit of feasabilty will do thank you.

To Macca: come on mate do your stuff and give us a little hint of who might be arriving.
ED02 Respect for handling of disrespecful posters and more respect for not giving nothing a way.
Well done all Eds and Macca Top site.

My opinion for what it is worth is Kenny and the americans are in serious dialogue regarding Louis and this is having an impact on transfer targets and slowing things down a bit.

With a sad heart I have to make this observation of our club at this time .I know going to get grief but here goes !!
Were all trying to guess which striker were going to buy .... When we spent 35 mill on one .
Poor touch , looks like he wants to go home !
Still needing wingers ... Paid 20 for downing , not good enough !!
That's 55 mill on 2 average players !!
Enrique looks good !!
Henderson 20 mill, young potential , but not worth that kind of money .next
There's 80 million ! Only one worth the money !!
Sorry to say kenny is good at finding good youngsters eg shelvy etc
But I'm sorry but his buying this time round is not good at all, that's my main concern ,
Camoli is my next point , he came with this great insider of European football ,espacially french football , any little French bargains ? Seems to have a big rep for what ?
All this race stuff at the moment has been so badly handled from day 1 nothing but bad press ,so we've gone from being known for being loud but fair fans , to a seventies through back .
If this had been any other Liverpool manager they would have to fall on there sword .
Anfield ...
Regardless of new or old ground we need some sponaship money .would u put ur name on the team .. Fans.. Of racists?
Now for my opinion we had a good manger in benitz ,I know some people will now say ahhh a rafa lover
We nearly had it right a few years ago kenny as ambassindor , rafa as manager , and may be we needed a good player buyer ,(two yanks are in this group but we all know what they was like !)and I'm sorry to say the wrong number 2 in sammy , rafa and Steve Clarke there's a good pair ing !!
Now people will say rafa was power crazy !! How did we realise our( American custodians ) was bleeding our club dry ?he knew from early on , tried to do to much but had to keep as much a way from the yanks .
Our best players this season have been
Reina
Skitel , agger
Glen Johnson
Lucas
Maxi
Okay Gerard has been injured !!
Look I could go on for ages ,( I know I have anyway )all I'm trying to say is kenny when he took over he said he would (and I believe him more than anyone ) is he would do the best for Liverpool fc , so move upstairs be incharge of youth and our history , get rafa n Steve c toger and let's go !

You are right, you are gonna get grief for one of the worst posts ever, you are a complete tool, its quite simple if you dont like whats happening at LFC go & support someone else...............CM68

Why do the bring Rafa back brigade never sign their posts?

Chris in Tamworth

Ok so all ok then , Dowinings flying ,carols top English goal scorer , no need to over rely on Steve g because Henderson is mint ! Club got the world applauding our Louis stand, camoli unearthed some little gems !

Look I love this club with all my heart , do I love king kenny he's the reason30 odd years ago I fell in love with Liverpool ,but his buys havnt been good

Bring back Rafa

Life long Red

And all of Rafa's signings were? Come on, I still lay some (actually quite a bit) blame on Rafa for Alonso wanting to leave, which ultimately made Mascherano leave and subsequently Torres to go! If Kenny had been able to have these players at his disposal, who knows where we would be right now! Rafa and his rant (to help Gerrard out) probably stopped us winning the league in 2009, but it's all history now. I'm no Rafa hater either, have a lot of respect for the guy, but he made some mistakes too and some need to remember that! We just need to get through this 'blip' atm and score some goals! I remember not that long ago, we were close to the relegation zone and were even in it for a while, so 6th is fine right now, getting ready for the push for a CL place come May! Sorry rant over!

Keith

Rafa made some mistakes I agree , but I still think alot had to do with certain owners at the time . Maybe in the last 18 months he took his eye of the the game but let's be honest he could see where the club was going !!

I think Gerrard and Carroll will prove to be a lethal partnership.

There were glimpses of it vs Newcastle.

No point playing the ball into Carroll's feet, he is no spanish la liga striker.

Andy can sure hit a ball, but the ball needs to break to him and he usually gets double marked. With Stevie making his runs, Carroll can lose his marker, get some space and hopefully find the net.

Get the ball into a charging Andy Carroll like Stevie can, and the other team have a problem. We've been drilling fast balls in too often, and that's no good for Andy.

I think Stevie's return is just what we need.

Stevie played so well off Crouch in the past I think it could work in a similar way with Carroll... basically with an out of form Kuyt we have few options so i can see them playing together over the next 5-6 games with Bellamy (when fit) on the left/right/up front...

Suarez is a legend to all you unbelievable doubters.. Very Beardsleyesque.. Buy a couple of good strikers and an attacking right winger and we are sorted.

Was at the Oldham game sat in front of a couple of anti-Coates season ticket holders.. Running him down the whole match.. Sad!

Should be ashamed of themselves. Give their season ticket to me and go watch Everton along with anyone else who wants to run anyone down. Thought we had finally got past those sad days of slagging off our team. Bet you all love Lucas now hey! Poor sod. Finally put you all in your place then got that bad injury.

We don't need you!

Long live the KING We are LFC and proud..

Alfie

Suarez is the best player we've had for years (Gerrard not included) and Coates is a damn fine player who when he clicks with the english game will be a complete defender who will make our befence solid

MJ

I understand your Suarez is "Beardsleyesque" as they are both as ugly as you like.
I also understand why you call Suarez "a legend". It doesn't take much to be "a legend" at Liverpool these days now does it!
He bites, he makes offensive gestures and comments, and he doesn't score that many goals...these are the attributes for a modern day Liverpool legend!
Shankly and Paisley, if you are up there, you must despair!

Sir Alex x

Sir Alex, why did you ring me up this morning asking if I'd fill the bench, and your bumhole?

Rafa.

Suarez is a very good player only time will tell if he becomes a liverpool legend and to do that he will have to change his attitude.I had been looking forward to seeing Coates play and he was without doubt poor however once hes settled and had a good run of games hopefully we will start to see his potential

Now to think about it.. Your right in the sense he is a Beardsley style striker.
I think Beardsley had a cooler finishing head though.
All we need now is a jinxy Barnes style player who can cross, attack and finish. They must be able to wear the famous no10 with pride.

Sir Alex did just discribe Rooney.

I think ba would be a good move for liverpool
hes cheap 26 years old (not bad) and most importantly he can score goals. Suarez is a great playmaker but we need someone else up front a goalscorer, I think that is the main reason y we arent in the top 4 we have probably one of the lowest goalscoring in the epl so when we verse 'worse' clubs liverpool can rely on him to score. We've squandered way to many points 2 clubs like swansea and blackburn

Ba has made it too obvious he wants to got to PSG

09 Jan 2012 16:08:19
I agree. Sick of tellin people hes not all that great. We'll thrive without him. As usual we're tryna build a team around 1 player instead of building a team. No1 will listen...

Why can't he play as part of a team? He's just been more noticeable by how impressive he's been since arriving at the club which unfortunately has coincided with Gerrard having a long spell out....
For Uruguay he often played second fiddle to Forlan. Wouldn't it be good to see them play together regularly?

Who on here thinks kompany's red card will be overturned belive yes or unbelieve no not much to do with Liverpool but could make a difference in the cup ties
James

It will be overturned because the fa have it in for us

Absolutely no chance it will be overturned

Chris in Tamworth

It will be overturned because it was never a red card

If they do then spearings should have been aswell

I'm in agreement with Chris. It was a two-footed challenge. Red card.
The Real KB

If it is overturned then we should really do something. Spearing had the same sort of tackle, he won the ball, but had both feet sticking out. FA just rejected the appeal.

RenegadeRed

His studs were up and it was 2 footed so it is classed as a red

Hoping it don't bcuz with him and Silva out we stand a good chance if we play to our potential, and with both Carroll & Downing both scoring in the week hopefully it will give them the much needed confidence there lacked. Also its our only hope of Silverware this season so we should be going all guns out for it.

BigD

I didnt think we appealed against spearings red card ?? could be wrong tho, i thought if an appeal was rejected the ban was increased, if they appeal and lose kompany will miss both games against us
jaydee ynwa {Ed002's Note - A ban will only be increased if an appeal is deemed frivilous.}

I dont think it should have been a red card but F.A if they are to stick to what they have been doing not getting rid of milias' and spearings then there should be no chance of appeal being successful..

I do think the rule should be changed though.
ed can the premier league change their lenience towards a rule or does it have to go through fifa or anything just wondering thanks

Any chance of Paul Pogba. I know that he's at UTD but his contract runs out at the summer and it isn't likely he will re-sign so what about an offer?

He fits the policy, young and definately a good re-sale value due to the transfer potentially being free and worldwide interest in him now.

Its a win win too because he's a defensive player which we have shortages of and would slot into the youth/reserves at least

In a word - "none".

It's very unlikely liverpool will sign pogba, i think he will sign a new contract plus if he was to leave i think he would end up in italy

Macca, b interested to hear what you have on the possibility of Suarez leaving. Your posts seem to indicate the club support him, but the impression that I have is that they quite dissappointed with the whole event. I am aware that selling Suarez would not sit well with most fans but the business reasons are too strong to overlook, the long damage to the club and owners reputations. The effect it may have on sponsorship deals or stadium naming rights. So Macca let us know what you hear/think.

Question time!

Would u guys prefer a 2-leg carling cup semis win over citeh or a fa cup 4th round win over the despicable devils?

I know we all want to win both but which would u prefer if u could choose only 1? Ed001?:-)

I think i'd take the carling. It'll puts us a win away from a cup. And that's vs lower league opposition.

I'd love to beat the devils but pragmatism rules.:-)

What about u guys?:-)

YNWA
Singapore Red
Ps- this question is only hypothetical. I wanna win the lot! Haha

I'd rather the FA CUP win as both the manchester teams would be out which would give us a stronger chance to win it. I still think we can win both anyway. With Kompany and the Toure brother missing - Bellamy will cause them havoc and big Andy will come good.

If I had to pick it would be beating city as your right in saying we have a better chance in the carling cup, and we have waited far too long for a trophy.

MIKEY

Win other city and straight to the final

As much as i would like us to win both, if i had to choose, i would choose we beat Man City, because then we would have either Crystal Palace or Cardiff City in the final and giving us a good chance of a cup

I cant believe some fans here wanting the sale of luis suarez. He is one of the few real quality players we have got and they wish to sell him. If manu were to sell their players on such affairs they wouldnt have a player left. Okay he made a mistake lets hope he learns from it. we should be adding quality no removing it.

Totally gree we should be adding quality to are squad not selling quality.
skurks

He's an idiot.
If he was a racist I would not even sell him I would sack him mutu style and sue him for costs.
He's obviously a gifted player but I would have no problem swapping him for a proper goal scorer like higuain.
But I also have no problem staying at our club as long as he sorts out his obvious disciplinary issues.
He has a lot of growing up left to do, let's hope he has a good hard look at himself while sat at home doing nothing.
Even if you take the whole evra debate out of the equasion his attitude has seriously stunk at times this season.

MIKEY

Get your facts straight Suarez has a better goalscoring record than Higuain. Check it out! on the internet; that's what it's there for.
kidmillions

No but my point was he is quality and he is playing for us without CL. Ok u would swap him for higuain but would higuain come without CL and at wages as that of suarez

Most of Suarez goals came in the Dutch league.
Most of higuains goals in the Spanish league.
Slight difference in quality there.

MIKEY

No I don't think higuain would come without champions league footy.
I'm just saying I would swap him.
I'm not kenny tho.

Fellow Reds,

Firstly I should say that I totally understand and share the sense of frustration that I can only imagine fuelled the clubs' various responses to the Suarez ban (t-shirts, bold defiant statements, etc). At the time they would have felt pressured to act, respond, stand up and vigorously challenge. I believe that KD and the team acted in a manner that they felt reflected the strength and depth of passion of all associated with the club and its best traditions were feeling and I can't knock them for feeling the way they did. They felt they had no other choice...but in fact they did. Saying or doing little or nothing is often and was the best option.

Sure this is far easier with hindsight, the clubs actions were only ever going go against them whichever way the story ran. The press, the FA and a large swathe of public opinion was bound to take the view that Suarez did something wrong (true or false) and that the club were wrong to oppose. I can understand that KD et al wanted to show support to Suarez for what we all perceived as an unfair and exaggerated accusation. This could and should have done in private and with minimum public statement. We were on a hiding to nothing the moment the official accusation was made, never mind the outcome of the hearing. Better to say nothing, that is the course of action least often taken but merit worthy nonetheless.

I relish a good conspiracy as much as the next person but I don't believe that there was anything here other than an accusation and a hearing based on one man's word against another's. I am sure that like any story there are two sides and quite probably the truth is some way different to the various distorted reports, including crucially the independent report which has been held up like the Ten Commandments on tablets of stone as being sacrosanct and of unchallengeable reverence.

Man Utd have played a huge part in this too, let's not forget. Had Ferguson shown better judgement and less partisanship he could and should have striven for reconciliation between the players first - this was a choice he had which was not afforded to KD. If Evra was adamant in pursuit of Suarez then so be it and fair play if he felt wronged -that's a right he has.

But judging by the churlish tone Ferguson is now taking in the press towards LFCs olive branch of board level discussions I suspect he was always apt to put the boot in or at best stand passively by whilst others did it. Well, every dog has his day and Ferguson will soon retire and become a fading memory. This whole mess will eventually blow over and we will carry on, these things always pass.

Liverpool FC can learn from this, though...the public apology in light of the racial abuse at the Oldham game is a good start. More contrition is definitely needed.

The one lesson here is that KD needs more professional support and guidance around him to avoid a repeat. Based on LFCs performance there is a clear lack of media savvy which they could do right to address.

Meanwhile, and this is free, they would do to remember that often silence is golden and less is more..YNWA

If ever you're looking for an example not to read absolute drivel, or an example of how the media twist and make things appear different to reality in this modern day then look no further than the Daily Mirror.

I stopped reading 'gutter' rags in 1989. I did move onto the 'more reliable' papers but stopped that many years ago. With age comes experience and whilst I have no intention of picking a 'red top' up ever again, the need for information on your club is never far away.

How you select the avenues to obtain said information is for you to choose. However the recent exploits of the Mirror should stand you in good stead as one to avoid. Their relationship with the club has soured over recent times and I was unaware until Ed001 said recently that they had actually been banned from the club. The fact they are tied in with the Echo (or the other way around) just led to my surprise with the initial relationship souring in the first place.

I was asked my thoughts about a month ago re Ollie Holt. As the chief football editor he has responsibilities to ensure what he prints is an honest and fair assessment of what he feels is right. His stance therefore regarding Suarez and Terry are poles apart and can only lead you to suspect that he is biased against one and for another.

His rather crass comments and the Mirror's un-necessary goading of the club in their title's and subsequent articles since the Suarez outcome has served to heighten and inflame the situation further. Ironic that they should accuse the club of doing the exact same thing.

Let's get one thing straight. The club indirectly or otherwise, contributed to the 'incident' on Friday night by the stance they took. Rightly or wrongly the impulsive and aggressive tactics used by the club in defending Suarez gave an opportunity for the ignorant and idiotic minority to get some revenge and if that meant hurling racist abuse at the first black footballer to come within ear shot then it was a chance idiots like the one on Friday night couldn't resist.

The Mirror's total lack of objectivity took over. Whether they saw an opportunity for some payback as well as an opportunity to sell papers. They came rushing in feet first. It has served as a red rag to many LFC fans. The club's stance has certainly made for a siege mentality, us verses the World. The Mirror has served their own dish up to make it the World and the Mirror verses the club. All they have done is to wind fans up and attempt to get a reaction akin to the one that took place Friday night as if to justify the club's 'poor' handling of the affair.

Holt's comments serve as a reminder not to even read them and certainly never contemplating rising to the bait. I'm sure Ed001 & Ed002 will have far more knowledge in suggesting who you should follow for some proper, objective and knowledgeable information.

Whilst the FA Cup draw is one most wanted. It will only be successful if we can act in the correct manner….oh and win the match which unfortunately will not at the forefront.

Bob the Red

I used to think The Mirror were OK with Liverpool Bob.
I don't know what's happened with them lately, but they were more of an ally in years gone by.
News International and Sky are far more subversive IMO. I do not touch them with a barge pole (although I do occasionally watch games in the pub).
I woud rather the club try to heal things with The Mirror, although I don't know if it's gone too far now.

I think you would love to have players of Scholes and Henrys ability at your club at the moment. A very naive and obvious dig at two better teams.
D.Mirror

Is that a joke d mirror? We do have players of scholes and henrys ability at our club.
Scholes coming out of retirement just stinks of desperation

And lack of money that must be worrying when has that bond got to be repaid?

Don think it stinks of anything! Scholes himself approached Ferguson saying he would like to play due to utds crippling injury list. And yes untill we (like you did) get rid of these Americans we do not have the money available to spend 30+ million on a new midfielder. Hi (EdS) do you think it would benifit Liverpool FC if they were to set up an Educational provison, which would allow players to improve their literacy and numeracy skills if they needed them. Managing money programmes, giving players a greater insight into investing their money and they might manage their money better. How not to get into finacial difficulties.
I don't think lots players are prepared for the real world. Family resposibilties, social resposibilties, Healthy Living and the pitfalls of being a highly paid footballers, the temptations that may come their way off the field.
Acting like pop stars instead of "professional footballers" Dealing with the media can be very poblamatic for some players, especially when attracting the wrong sort of media attention. which can be damaging for both the player and his club

The club in my opinion should have a provision for foreign players, where than can learn how to speak english obviously having different levels to match each players needs and to provide awareness of british culture, local culture, dissability, sexualty.
The clubs have a responsibilty to look after their players to make them decent citizens and help them be more equipped for every day life not just football. The players must also be willing to become more responsible and independant .
I know it cost a lot money to set up educational provision. but players can contribute an surely being a more competent and respectful person is a good thing and benefits everone.
Sorry for such a long post. but something thats been on my mind for a long time. I just think it would help players settle in a bit more and help them with the careers.

I would think it would be better served if the PFA ran this sort of scheme as opposed to the the club.

RedSG {Ed002's Note - The PFA provides a lot of support for players including providing advice for making future provisions. Most players who arrive not speaking English will take courses and clubs such as Liverpool do empoloy translators as necessary.}

I believe most of the items you mentioned are being taught at the academy. Not sure if older players brought into the club have the same. However I'm sure they are helped with settling in, housing, schools, etc.

09 Jan 2012 13:14:58
If suarez leaves it should be on the proviso that he does not come back to play for another English club in the next 5 years.

IF Suarez does leave it will because he no longer wants to play in England at all. He has no argument with Liverpool - it is the opposition fans who have called HIM a racist who are going to be coming out with their own racist remarks. It's time that it all stopped but haven't we been saying that for the last fifty years!

Hi, what is the general feeling among Liverpool supporters of Coates? Maybe he will improve for the future but At the momont I see no quality, just silly mistakes. What does anybody else think? Maybe a loan deal to gain confidence and experience is required?

If Cahill leaves Bolton maybe he (Coates) could go to Bolton on loan.

Watched him playing in the reserves, he was head and shoulders above the rest (and not just because he is 6ft5") He just needs to play with a settled defence. I think he will be massive for us.

09 Jan 2012 12:50:48
Can't see why we would be - we have better options in all of his positons - Enrique/Robinson at left back, and Agger/Skrtel/Wilson/Coates/Kelly at centre half. No reason for us to get him.

09 Jan 2012 12:24:27
Would it be such a ˜crisis' if we did sell (or lose, depending on how you view it) Luis Suarez this month? After all; despite his loss of form at the time, did we really want to lose Torres, at the time?

All I can say is; at that time, this time last year, we got over pretty quickly. And moved on. With the feeling that we had gone in to February with the better deal. Two for the price of one. Sure; looking back, with hindsight, we can say that the £35m for Carroll could have been far better spent. But not even the best managers/clubs in the world don't get every signing right. Pep Guardiola and Barca paid £69m for Ibrahimovic, after all¦scoring 11 goals in 1 season (I think).

So my point is; if we did ˜cash' in on Suarez, I'm fairly sure we will be (a) prepared for it and (b) will move on quickly, possibly prospering from it.

Firstly; Torres may have had the proven track record. But Suarez has the form and is on his way up to his peak. Not on the way down from his peak. So Suarez must be worth somewhere between £30m-£40m, you would imagine. Surely, even at short notice, we could find a quality replacement or two.

Secondly; I know Suarez is class. Clearly world class. Or on his way to becoming world class. But he's scored 5 goals in 18 league games this season. Demba Ba, who was free and has a dodgy knee, has 15. Even fat Yak has 12, Fletcher at wolves 8 and Defoe 7.

Of course I don't want to lose Suarez. I would love him to stay and play with a goal scorer. Surely if we want to challenge for the top 4 we have to add to the likes of Suarez. Adding (in our realistic terms) a Defoe to Suarez would be great.

But just say we pulled off a deal which included Ozil. Or we brought in a goal scorer and a right winger. Would we be worse off?

Or, of course, we might not lose Suarez at all. And in the next 7 games Carroll might find some form. Then we add Suarez and I fit Gerrard to that. And perhaps a right winger. Who knows. We might go in to February feeling all optimistic and enthusiastic again.

VR46

The reason that we didn't miss FT was Suarez, finding another of his all round ability is most unlikely if not impossible. We are not in the champions league, 4th whilst achievable is far from certain. We need to keep our world class players as replacing them with equal talent will be extremely difficult.

Suarez is almost unique as a player, and impossible to replace.
He is tough and rarely injured, he has the integrity and passion of Dalglish, close control to rival Messi (when was the last time you saw a player beat three men inside a ten yard space as with the Man U goal?) and the never-say-die attitude of Gerrard or Souness at their best.

If he stays, he will become an all-time Liverpool FC legend, and will surely rank among our best players of all time.

Give Suarez a break will you, he's been under enormous pressure these last 3 months he hasn't scored many goals but has given 100%. Don't keep speculating, just get behind him. He's a Liverpool player and we haven't seen the best of him yet...Bobbinred

In regard to Ba....Carroll was roughly the same in terms of goals this time lat year... Players join a team and you are not guaranteed the same return of goals.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NESV need to be very careful here.
Suarez ISNT a racist. That is overwhelmingly clear. He's part black for a start off. Players are NOT assets to be moved on once they appreciate. Our great teams had great players for LIFE.
Otherwise fans feel no affinity with new also rans brought in all the time.
NESV have NOT made a net spend on transfers despite horrifically high ticket prices.
They will incur the wrath of the more educated fans very soon, should they even attempt to unsettle Luis.
Remember how "excited" people were in the early days of that Tom Hicks.

Many of us are ready to act against NESV. We know how they smear players that they want to make a profit on.
Too many Mancs and undercover NESV staff on here, IMO {Ed002's Note - Can you help us identify these undercover FSG staff? Do you know who they are?}

Exactly how do we "know they want to smear players they want to make a profit on"? Are you referring to Torres, whose behavior and attitude is by now well known to all from here to London to Madrid?

You might want to back up your claims a bit more. Otherwise it is you who might end up doing the smearing.

Henderson will get even better. Liverpool midfielder jordan henderson has now begin to show king kenny the reason he paid such amount for him. At 21, he's now getting more confidence with the ball and u can see his perfomance against man.city. Just little more time, he will be a star for liverpool.

He must be a defender cause nearly every time he gets a ball he passes backwards

Et Davo - do us all a favour mate and get back to Mummy

Well he can only get better than what hes done,...... which is scant, i dont think hes a lfc player . no disrespect to the lad but he aint done it for me n hes had lots of game time , for e.g ramsey of arsenal wiltshire cleverly rodwell would be better players n contribute more than just energy he plays too many square balls n no incisive passing

5gold stars

Another MANC on the site. Thought they'd be on their own site getting all excited talkingabout Dennis Law coming back to play up front until the end of the season!!

Forgetting his sublime pass to Downing against City? You know the one that split one of the best defences in the world? Yeah all he can do is pass it back you idiot...

5 gold stars, last 2 games, V Newcastle great ball for Gerard's goal, V City great ball to Downing, should have scored to put us 1 up could have totally changed the result there's 2 bits of incisive passing that took me aprox. 10 seconds to think of after reading your post, I'm sure had I thought a little longer I could have come up with more, he will be a great player for us.

I think it would be really helpful if those contributors who say things like "Dempsey scored 3 at the weekend, lets get him" make these recommendations in the week before he scores 3. Then the player could come in and do the business for us. The knowledgeable fan could then advise when the player is not going to score or play well and we can release him back.
In this way we will ensure maximum performance for LFC and will end up with 114 points in the league and win every competition we enter.

Simples!

Painful!! Was it inserted oral or anal

I bumped into him in the Car Park at Anfield one day in the 1980's. He was just getting out of his car - Ford Scorpio, along wit Alan Hensen and Barry Venison. They had just come back from training. They were all three stood about 4 feet from me and I was speechless - literally. Just stood there open-mouthed. Barnesy was waiting for me to say something and I just stood there like a rabbit in headlights. RED LENIN

I love him too, but he wanted to go to Arsenal before us, only they didnt show intrest

I saw him in town outside Robinsons Jewelers and I couldn't resist giving the 'alright Barnesy' as I walked past. I got a wink and that was that. A big lad though.

Hi Eds At what point in the tie do away goals count in the Carling Cup semis? I reckon its if scores are level at the end of extra time, my mate reckons they dont count at all. Cheers

Kris the Red {Ed002's Note - You are correct.}

Hi Eds,

I thought away goals only counted at the end of normal time and had no value anthing being scored during extra time, mainly due to the fact that extra time can only happen at the end of the second leg, therefore, the home team would have an added advantage for 30 minutes more that the home team of the first leg. I'm pretty sure this is the case, correct me if I'm wrong Eds.
Cheers,

We are all talking about big expensive signings who will come and go which is a great read during the transfer window. But I cannot help thinking that we dont need all these superstars we are being linked to. The only thing lacking this season is better finishing, the chances are being created and defence is up there with the best of them. I think we just need to get an experienced old head in ( a Van nistlerooy / Teddy Sheringham type player) who can show the boys where the net is and what the young guys can learn off them is invaluable. Bit like we did with Gary McCalister when we had a crop of young midfielders who needed a bit of guidance. Everyone can see Carroll is struggling but if we could improve his movement and positioning in the box he could be the answer.

Kev the Red

Ex-international striker Kenny Dalglish & Steven Gerrard for example ?

Kenny and Stevie G are there I agree but Stevie isnt a striker and Kenny unfortunately cannot lace up the boots and show them how its done at his age.. I have to say though you would have thought his movement and positioning would have improved in 12 months but if anything it is worse!!

Hi eds not a rumour as such just an observation, everyone seems to be banging on about strikers I know they are seen as the Hollywood players, but we have to quality forwards in Carroll and suarez, I think the problem we have scoring is the system we play and our wingers are not working surely the thinking was Carroll up top with Luis just off him and downing bellamy etc. To provide for the big man I really think its is players either wingers or wing backs that can cross a ball that has to be a priority this window maybe gerrard back on the right wing would work?

I agree, if we do decide to knock the ball up to Carroll, atleast have someone for him to head it down to, Suarez with his outstanding control would easily weave the ball through what little defence they had or Gerrard could pounce on it and easily send it down one of the wings or take a shot. At the moment poor Andy is stuck up the top with the ball being fired at the edge of the box with no option to head it to. He may be tall but he's just about the same height as most CBs so he isn't always going to dominate them.

At last !
Liverpool FC get it right. A statement of apology from the club for the alleged racist abuse incident last Friday.
If only both parties (us and United) had done that in the first place, a lot of this nonsense in the press would have never taken place.
In hindsight, I wonder how much is down to the two respective managers' personalities. Certainly on the match day itself and the immediate aftermath.
What do you reckon, eds and all ?
Anyway, good to see that the club has finally made the right move.
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - Liverpool's record in dealing with such issues at the ground is excellent and the efforts of Ian Ayre and Damien Comolli in recognizing the seriousness of the matter a dealing with it promptly should be applauded.}

What do you make of Liverpool's 'war' with The Daily Mirror ed002 ?
I can obviously see why LFC banned them, but in the longer run I don't see much mileage in it for the club.
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - It is the club's PR people making a stance. They are in the same group as the Echo and will still pull feeds from them or independents. But if the club can make it difficult, they will do it.}

I think Kuyt did a very good Job that day. that help Liverpool so much.

The police will make a charge,

Or are the FA going to create their own

Neil Warnock left QPR last night after a bust-up with owner Tony Fernandes over signing Blackburn striker Yakubu. QPR are confident of installing Mark Hughes as manager in the next 48 hours.

Does anyone else think Mark Huges would be the worst signing ever. He can't manage on a budget and is very wasteful with resources. Plus golf in afternoon instead of tactics isn't going to help the club. Steve Bruce would be a better fit at the club.

Should we pencil in QPR, Wigan and Blackburn for relegation, If that happens tony fernandes would have paid though the nose for a very poor football club and liverpool might be able to get SWP on the cheap.

Here Raffa is looking for a job?
He could be a good choice.

All that to suggest we get SWP! Maybe blackburn could hire Gary Megson so if they get relegated we could bring in Salgado.

Rafa's Purple Goatie

Mark Hughes managed Wales , Blackburn & Fulham on limited resources . It was his time at Man City with mega money that has affected his reputation .

Qwerty

Time always teach human. he learn so much and his time in fulham not that bad so he may do well.

SWP my God!! I'd rather get Roadrunner on a free. Can run really really fast and can't cross a ball!! Pretty much like for like

with this roumour, i thought newscastles real strengh came from other players such as Ryan Taylor. Who puts in alot of good balls from free kicks.

Someone has to get a head to it. Plus the man utd game was a lucky, the weather helped newcastle, it being at home helped newcastle.

Utd have very inexperience team, lucky scholes is back and giggs is still around.

09 Jan 2012 09:11:22
when did the window open? so boring at the moment, man utd are the only ones to have signed someone in paul scholes

09 Jan 2012 09:09:54
shouldnt the blame for this mess lay with Dirk Kuyt and Damien Comolli. The two people who admitted to the use of the word to ref.

Also all three people on liverpool's side have changed their version of the truth including Dirk Kuyt, Damien Comolli and Luis Suarez.

Did find it funny how a French player, uruguayan player, holland player and another French Man turned english football racist,

Rascism was long in British football before these guys arrived, do you remember when bananas were thrown on to the pitch when John Barnes signed for liverpool, the monkey jibes, thats one example that stands out, this was in the 80's.

Hey eds

Not a rumor, just a statement, I wish this window would get going as the drama is few and far between at present!

09 Jan 2012 08:46:35
eds is it true that stewart downing has been arrested 4 assualt ?? {Ed002's Note - Yes.}

09 Jan 2012 08:35:04
Fan arrested as police investigate Liverpool FC after black football star breaks down in tears due to 'racist abuse from crowd.
this is the headline in the dailymail.
was it not just one person who caused this?
k-h {Ed002's Note - Liverpool have issued an apology over the matter and the incident has moved on from the club to just the individual as Liverpool's record in terms of such matters is execellent.}

I was just letting people know whats being said

But why are Police investigating LFC?

Maybe cos he is one of us like it or not that fan represents the club.

09 Jan 2012 08:05:21
hopefully we beat man city on wednesday, straight from kick off you could tell they were missing yaya toure and with kompany banned defence was in shatters, city need yaya without a doubt.

Even with those players missing they still have a better team. I don't know what makes you think we will have the upper hand.

09 Jan 2012 07:30:14
Liverpool just ain't the squad they use to be. He neeeds a aggressive cdm. And a top striker to even consider gettin in the top four. Needs a few seasons till kenny has his squad then we can start thinking bout the top four.

hai Ed..first Great site and kool work..
Saw the match yesterday..and for the first time..i liekd City..could see their hard work, desire and unity...very much impressed with them..

Milner is great...we should have gone for him last summer..since he was warming the bench than downing...milner is atleast 10 times better..

ed whats the situation with nasri...? he is absolute clueless...can we get him? i cant see him playing anymore matches.?
he was awesome with arsenal..coz he had a good role overt here to play..but with city..he is teh worst buy for them...
Ed can we get him?? what you think?

Saw adam johnson yesterday..good dribbliner..and quick..but doesnt work hard as much people say...
again..city will sell him this summer..coz they will bring two good wingers in summer...

last..let us be honest here..aguero...fantastic...he is the beast..we are missing..any side..would love to have him..being up alone..he was fantastic..his work rate is awesome..carrool needs to learn a lot from this little genius...
and thx God we did not buy clichy...he is absolute utter watse...

without toure brothers, and kompany..city looks weak..
we could do lot damage in league cup..if we get gerrard fit...

Ed since the window open..do u think we will buy another striker?i think we should..
what are our options??

ur reply expected... {Ed002's Note - If you think Nasri "absolute clueless" why would you want to buy him?"

Nasri isnt all that good

Ed..may be its coz..he is a wrong team...? he had a fantastic season with arsenal..

You are clueless if you think man city are weak. How many other teams come back from 3 down at ht against utd to almost draw?

Hi Ed...
Suarez has been chaged for using the word negro against evra....
Thank GOD UTD doesnt have Alvaro Negrado...dono what will be his nick name...the entire team will be charged if we call him by negra......

{Ed002's Note - I really don't understand why certain fans want to trivialise such a serious matter.}

I think a lot of LFC fans take racism very seriously but regard the outcome of the tribunal a bit of a joke hence the sarcasm. Suarez was wrong but he was also made a scapegoat and Evra was wrong but got away scot free. I'd say that sums up most people's bitterness.

cozinoz

Suarez was not charged with using the word 'negro'. The english word 'negro' is entirely different to ther Spanish word 'negro' which means the color black in English. Although the Spanish word 'negro' is not racist, the manner in which Suarez used it was. Again although he is not racist, he used a normal word 'black' deliberately to unsettle a black player - Evra and therefore it becames a racially-motivated matter. RED LENIN

Eds what's the score with watching a game at anfield but being on crutches will I have any problems {Ed001's Note - I don't know, I have never had to go on crutches, your best bet would be to phone the club, they will let you know. But I can't see any issue with it, other than you being a bit slow to take your seat!}

Dont think your crutches will have any bearing on the score line.

KNEE JERK

I am a steward at anfield and as long as you are able to walk to your seat you shouldnt have any problems no matter where your ticket is for.

Big D. Watched the video link. Cheers or posting it.

Lads, this is possibly the best performance from John Barnes since he wore Te red shirt. Please watch this.

John Barnes is my all time favourite Liverpool, he was the player that made the Reds for me.

Great to get an accurate opinion of what Te club actually feel about Luis. It's clear to me that he has been misunderstood and misinterpreted. I think you need to have been subjected to racial abuse in order to differentiate. You may find that a bold statement, but having suffered abuse in the eighties, lived in a highly Cuban and Haiti populated Miami, having been the only ethnic minority family in the area I was born for 12 years. I've learned what constitutes as racial abuse.

John is spot on.

Reds, please take heed. Over the past few months, and most certainly the next few
Months you will be enticed into debate on web forums, radio, newspaper and other
Media. You will be part of a drawn out campaign. Please, please prepare yourself, educate yourself. Represent your club, with pride and dignity. Don't fall for the trap. We are the greatest club in the world. Our liverbird rises from the flames. This is a test, this is will be jumped on by all sorts of characters trying to piggyback ther agenda.

Don't fall
For it.

YNWA! Truly. Stay strong.

D-Day (1892)

Fantastic post mate.

Cheers.

You only need to look at recent history to see evidence of propaganda. It's rife.

Dont subscribe to nonsense. We are not sheep, find your own truth by educating yourself.

Daily Mail - 'Liverpool star Downing arrested after allegedly punching ex-girlfriend after nightclub row'Liverpool better get a move on, it will be hard for them to get shirts printed before Wednesday.

08 Jan 2012 23:54:30
If Gerrard says something to Rooney about being scouse, will he get an 8 game ban and a forty grand fine. I heard Wayne takes exception to that word and would never use it as he doesn't like it.
Scouse Pride

I know cause rooneys a manc

gee man

I've heard he's only offended by words he can spell. So I doubt he's easily offended!!

08 Jan 2012 23:37:15
Is there a realistic chance of LFC signing soldado?
I mean;
1) Would we pay 20m+ for him?
2) Would he want to join us?

08 Jan 2012 23:32:38
I know the issue has been addressed by the Eds, but Harry R has come out and said Demba Ba has a release clause in his contract of less than 10m....actually closer to 5m....now personally Ba doesn't look like he has any injury issues, so i can't see why Liverpool wouldn't put in a bid, seeing as he's score goals for fun up with the Toon Army, and our strikers are struggling, bar Bellamy who is probably the signing of the season
Kabir

Didn't caroll score goals for fun at Newcastle? look what he has done for us, not saying he is a bad player but thought you would be more careful when saying these things no?

Yeh but for less then £10 million? demba ba is clinical in the premier league, carroll relied on long balls to his head mainly.RedTurk

Newcastle played to carrolls strenghs we dont he,s got to learn a new system doesnt ba have injury issues with his knees and cant be insured not sure how that would work out but he must be insured to play for newcastle but why get ba when he,s away at the acn he might not be back till mid febuary we need a striker now not in feb

A friend is sorting tickets for Liverpool vs man city at anfield but I'm on crutches with a broken leg will it be a problem will I still be aloud to go as it's not disabled seating with the tickets were getting, many thanks

As long as you can walk to your seat you will be okay. Ask the steward on your nearest vomitary can he get you an aisle seat. I have done this myself as a steward, as long as the people in ur row will move up one you will get an aisle seat.

Kompany won't be playing so your other leg should be fine.
