Use our rumours form to send us liverpool transfer rumours.

07 Jan 2016 21:10:51
With all the recent injuries it's hard not to feel bad about the situation, but on the positive side this is a massive opportunity for the youngsters. I've been wanting them to get more chances, but I won't get overexcited if they do well, or disheartened if they don't.

The important thing is that they get a fair chance, and what is currently a curse for the club could could turn into a blessing in the future in saved transfer fees. Even if only one of the young players cemented a place in the first team then that would be success in my opinion.

I wish them the best because not many academy players get a decent chance at top level clubs. I also hope for their sake that if they do badly that they learn and use it as motivation to improve as has been personified by Lucas.

In any case if supporters give them any stick it shouldn't bother them because, and I include myself in this, we as fans think we all know a bit about football when in truth we are woefully ignorant. It is therefore irrelevant what we think as our praise or criticism has no veracity.

I said here some time ago, way before the current injury crisis, that in this day and age with the existing professional knowledge about injury prevention, having so many non contact injuries is outragous.

There is a nice interview in the Echo with Professor Steven Doherty, an expert on sport injury prevention and also a big LFC fan, which mainly confirms that.

I can't say I understood everything he said about the nature of hamstring injuries but he does have three main arguments. One, which confirms what Klupp said, that prior injuries are the biggest risk factor; two, that there is a lot (more) to do in term of prevention; and three that he watched closely LFC pre match warm up in different games in the last year and it was poor (he says he watched Tranmere Rovers and they had much better warm up) .

Now, Ibe's injury was also picked up in the Stoke game. He complained about it straight after the match. So this means 4 players with the same injury in one game, none for the opposition. You have to assume that something went wrong with the warm up. Any athlete will tell you that a proper warm up is crucial. Get it wrong and you almost guaranteed an injury.

In any case, poor warm up or not, we need a serious review of our injury prevention activity. It can cost us this season.

07 Jan 2016 21:12:03
The players should be able to motivate themselves for a proper warmup.

07 Jan 2016 21:36:31
Modern footballers don't sadly 85.

07 Jan 2016 21:50:36
It's still a fluke to have 4 in 1 game.

07 Jan 2016 22:07:28
Latest news is Jurgen Klopp has been sidelined with a hamstring injury.

07 Jan 2016 22:19:45
I'll say it bobatron the modern player needs mothering it's how it is now, the days of gerrard, carra, Adam, ince Keane etc are gone.

07 Jan 2016 22:50:48
TBF Gerrard was terrible at warming up too when I watched him, too busy clapping at the fans, and talking to team mates. He should have picked up a lot more injuries than he did.

07 Jan 2016 22:52:40
Haha funny ron. NOT.

07 Jan 2016 21:37:35
So the guy who has won in Germany two times and has been a largely successful manager suddenly forgot how to have his players warm up. I'll tell you why we have so many injuries. First BR hardly got the team fit in his training. Second is Klopp came in as our schedule ramped up in intensity. Third is he is training the players hard to prepare them for his system on top of the increased number of games. Finally we have had some bad luck. It is amazing how many fans sit at home and criticise all the things that they can't see based on hear say and short video clips. I am sure the people who are payed to do this are fully aware of what is going on.

{Ed002's Note - It is not the fault of Brendan Rodgers. It is the fault of Klopp.}

07 Jan 2016 21:50:16
Fanobip, being a musculoskeletal Physio myself it's really making my brain hurt at the number of hamstring injuries we are doing, you're right in that previous injuries are a major risk factor and while the warm up is important I think these injuries are just highlighting how under done our preseason was and clearly there needs to be a much stronger focus on hamstring strengthening and flexibility but just importantly more work on core strength as well. get them on some Nordic hamstrings and specific core strengthening work and should see a decrease in the injury rate. And most importantly a properly staged preseason under klopp's guidance will massively reduce the rate of inujjuries next season (Cleary doesn't help us present tho)

08 Jan 2016 00:46:38
So as an expert like yourself Q-red, would you put a lot of blame on Klopp for our current injury crisis?

08 Jan 2016 00:27:36
Ed. may I ask why it is Klopp's fault please?

{Ed002's Note - Klipperty has tried to establish the well named kopflose huhn style of play at Liverpool but will continue to struggle for a little while - and perhaps he will need to adapt as it is no doubt causing problems for the players in terms of injuries. As I have said, a bumpy ride for a while - you will no doubt recall that was made clear when he signed.

Generally the Liverpool fans have taken to blaming Brendan Rodgers and Chelsea.}

08 Jan 2016 01:22:09
Q-Red would be nice to hear from you more often please mate!

08 Jan 2016 02:07:05
It's a combination of both Klopp and Rodgers, Rodgers for not having the players fit enough or strong enough (and if not Rodgers then the strength and conditioning coach must shoulder the blame if he has free reign on the preseason fitness work) Klopp has come in and has obviously pushed the players extremely hard to get them up to speed to what he wants which carries inherent risks while also playing a high volume of games as we have been. It's always very difficult to get super fit while trying to match ready in season. I'm confident with a full proper pre season under his supervision that next season we shouldn't see these hamstring injuries occurring as badly, barring unforeseen circumstances. But as ed 2 has said Klopp may need to alter things slightly due to the number of games and no winter break. And yes Chelsea must be at fault as well ;)

07 Jan 2016 19:46:36
Saw a rumour linking liverpool with Talisca of benfica? Any truth eds or just slow news day? Any help would be great ta.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

07 Jan 2016 19:28:33
Infact among the youthful squad no one is picking Wilson to get minutes at Exerter, i don't know why? is it bcos of his unsuccesseful loan spell or he is ajudged not good enough by members in here? for me i will go with him and Kent to support Benteke, and the midfield of Allen, Can and Teixeira and in defense Randal, Lucas, Enrique and Smith with Mignolet in goal post.

Believable0 Unbelievable9

07 Jan 2016 19:44:13
Tbh thought he was on loan.

07 Jan 2016 19:55:37
I agree, wasn't he tipped the next bale by our fans when he got his call up for Wales.

07 Jan 2016 20:09:58
He's at Crewe I believe.

07 Jan 2016 18:58:35
I think all these hamstring injures are connected with lack of pre season training. We need to forget about overseas trips and focus on getting players fit for the coming season. Goodluck to Ilori, been waiting to see what he can do.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

07 Jan 2016 18:46:39
Jordon ibe out with hamstring injury . Expect the u21s to face Exeter in the fa cup . Surely this has to be just bad luck rather than klopps training regime as the team average 2-3 km more distance than Tottenham per game and they don't have the same issue .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

07 Jan 2016 19:23:53
Yeah but pochettino has been training like that for a while, klopp has just started at their bodies are adjusting, not saying it's the reason but you can't rule it out.

{Ed002's Note - Sorry, it is nothing to do with Spurs.}

07 Jan 2016 21:27:42
It's just common sense I don't know why people are getting so Arsey about it. Hamstrings are being pulled, because they're doing more running than they are used too lately with little recovery.

07 Jan 2016 21:28:03
I wasn't saying it was anything to do with Spurs, I was suggesting that it's such an increase from what we are used to.

{Ed002's Note - Klipperty is to blame - try not to deflect.}

08 Jan 2016 00:57:07
But no one is 'deflecting'. Everyone recognises Klopp's game plan is a reason why players are dropping like flies, but Klopp is not guilty of any wrongdoing, and people are referencing Spurs merely to make a case for that.

07 Jan 2016 18:38:44
{Ed's Note - We have posted a new article entitled, More News As Norwich Chase Signings and Liverpool's Hamstring Jinx Continues

Believable0 Unbelievable0

07 Jan 2016 18:01:08
Question for ed001 if he is about, you mention that subotic is not a klopp like signing? Just curioua what you mean by that. I ask because all the rags are now claiming "liverpool in talks over subotic" cheers for the reply i advance mate, know you must get busy this time of year!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - the talks are over a loan move. I mean he is not a Klopp type of permanent deal. He prefers younger players that can be bought for a reasonable price and then improved. Then you can sell them on and improve the squad with the proceeds. A player like Subotic will decline in value and so you are solely relying on him having enough of an impact to make his value up that way. So it affects the ability of the club to spend in the future.}

07 Jan 2016 18:21:22
Ed001 who would like to see signed as a center half hard to come by especially at a young age.

{Ed001's Note - I don't know mate, I haven't seen anyone who has stood out.}

07 Jan 2016 18:40:49
Kamil Glik would be my choice (Torino captain) . Excellent defender. We're not interested though unfortunately.

07 Jan 2016 19:07:41
Gill is older than Subotic though so same issue there.

07 Jan 2016 19:13:23
Can't wait for the summer so Klopp puts his stamp on things

This season for me is to find out who makes the cut and who is dead wood.

07 Jan 2016 19:24:53
For me the problem with subotic is, klopp has already got the best out of him. If he brings a different player in, he may improve them, whereas subotic, he's probably done all he can.

07 Jan 2016 19:27:24
Cheers ed, if it is a loan move it makes more sense then i suppose, with the other centre halves we have been linked with a loan move for subotic would be the better option that way we can do our proper business in the summer.

07 Jan 2016 19:47:35
And if Subotic is a success then we may be able to acquire him permanently for a reasonable fee as it seems that Dortmund would be happy to move him on.

Still not convinced that this deal is going to happen though.

07 Jan 2016 19:49:27
Subotic is not old.

07 Jan 2016 20:46:28
If we're talking about young central defenders, I heard good words about jesus valejo currently at Real Madrid, he's not managed to get a game there yet. (Any chance of an emergency loan :p) -couldn't resist
.
When I've watched Newcastle (Only 3 times this season) I;ve liked that Mbemba each time, he covers so well for Collocini, is aggressive in the air and in the tackle, likes to run out with the ball and clearly wants to play a higher line than colocini will allow.

07 Jan 2016 22:04:45
For me klopp has years hopefully to get these gems to develop. For now he needs few ready to go players. Subotic is atleast use to his traing regime and has proven quality. Skyrtyl best days are beyond yet we keep playing him and subotic is a upgrade on him.

07 Jan 2016 23:23:22
Sule for me is the better option. Mountain of a german cb at only 19 i think. Expensive mind.

07 Jan 2016 17:43:20
Well we've been cursed with injuries Ibe and Toure are now out of the Exeter game, however it would be nice to see some of the fringe players get a game and rest some of our senior players (Lucas, Can, Lallana Migs, Clyne and Moreno) in the FA cup.
Brannagan, Teixeira, Randall, Smith, Ilori, Cleary, Kent and Ojo will have to step up and we may see players like Flanagan, Henderson and Milner reintroduced at some stage. We just got to keep positive and get behind this really young inexperienced team.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

07 Jan 2016 17:37:54
jurgen appears to be hamstrung in dealing with our current injury woes, our squad are going down quicker than Divine Brown.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

07 Jan 2016 19:33:50
retro!

07 Jan 2016 21:13:30
What a ridiculous metaphor.

Mick, hugh grant be serious if you think that will get any laughs.

;-)

07 Jan 2016 17:30:10
Hi Ed's do you think that any of our loan returnees will feature in our first team before the end of the season and if so who?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - yes all of them are likely to get a run out at least.}

07 Jan 2016 21:30:03
It'll be nice to see some fresh faces, hopefully give the squad a boost! You can bet your backside they will put a shift in and keep the 'first team' on their toes.

07 Jan 2016 17:24:49
Omg. Ibe injured now apparently, hamstring too!
All I can think is the previous regime had a very poor sports conditioning program, the players are dropping like flies!
Unbelievable.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

07 Jan 2016 17:37:16
Yeah what the hell is going on, they must be so unfit.

07 Jan 2016 22:29:53
Let's all just blame everything bad that happens presently on the previous regime. At the end of the season if we flop let's blame the previous regime for that as well so we can all just be in some sort of delusional glee about klopp being our manager. These are problems that have risen when klopp has been in charge so let's talk about the current regime. We are all delighted he's our manager but this hysteria has to stop. Stop aimlessly blaming the 'previous regime' for what's happening 3 months after they've gone.

07 Jan 2016 16:55:35
All the joking about ilori being overated. I really hope he plays an absolute blinder on Friday, gets a start in the league then makes himself first choice for the rest of the season. I'll be walking around with a smug face and 1 certain finger in the air 😏
The boy has class potential, he's quicker than nani and ronaldo ( smashed their record on the 60m sprint ) as good as Sami in the air and as delicate as agger on the ground.
heres to hoping he gets games.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - Good for running away then.}

07 Jan 2016 17:01:42
He probably will after he makes a mistake and the fickle fans start abusing him, as per.

07 Jan 2016 17:09:09
BB our fans are not fickle, where do you get that idea? Well we gave no choice but to give him a run out. I'm sure most felt the same when Gomez got a shout up for the team and he did okay for an 18 year old.

Bad.

{Ed002's Note - Not fickle?}

07 Jan 2016 17:09:56
Jesus, Usain Bolt is quicker than Messi it doesn't make him good at football, have to agree with Ed001 with Ilori everyone thinks he's the new Nesta but can't get a game for Aston Villa, hmmmm. I remember Ed002 saying he wanted to see him play, probably the reason he's the best CB we've ever had.

07 Jan 2016 17:10:14
what's his hamstrings like benny.

07 Jan 2016 17:17:44
im not fickle. i think ilori will do well but if he doesnt.

07 Jan 2016 17:18:45
I love Agger, but delicate like Agger doesn't sound like something we need right now, Benny.

07 Jan 2016 17:25:58
We have never had a quick CB, like a really quick one. Not that I can remember anyway, from carra to kyriagkos. So it will allow us to play a higher line, I never said it has anything to do with making him good at football, what planet are you on lad?
He didn't get on for villa because Tim slurwood went with people actually playing for their futures at villa, as well as their new manager.
His legs look fantastic mick :)

07 Jan 2016 17:38:58
I thought someone said here he couldn't play tomorrow as has to be registered by last Friday?

07 Jan 2016 18:07:23
I was being sarcastic Ed002.

Baz.

07 Jan 2016 16:30:28
Eds am I right in thinking that out of all our injuries Hendo Sturridge are the likely to return the soonest?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The club has not provided an update - I suspect they will on Monday - perhaps Tuesday.}

07 Jan 2016 16:34:03
Jordan Ibe now out injured with a Hamstring! Wtf is going on. What a mess were in.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed023's Note - Wait for the club to confirm it but it doesn't look good}

07 Jan 2016 16:47:20
Heard this myself gutted! Hoping it's just a rumour or we might have to start calling ourselves hamstring Fc.

07 Jan 2016 17:39:23
I've gone right off ham egg n chips recently.

07 Jan 2016 15:22:31
Really good (IMO) article by George Cooper in The Independent about Oliver Bartlett and the impact he had on the Dortmund players' strength and athleticism. He goes on to draw a link with Bartlett leaving and Dortmund going into a decline then stretching the article as far as suggesting that the answer to our woes at LFC might well be answered by Klopp reuniting with Bartlett. I'm not not totally convinced about it as I'm not expert in any of the related fields but it'd be interesting to hear from others here what they think.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It would make some sense.}

07 Jan 2016 15:35:44
Bartlett value has now risen 10x after that article. Thks.

07 Jan 2016 16:09:53
Makes sense to me.

07 Jan 2016 16:24:09
Question I would have is why he left Dortmund in the first place though? Seems a bit odd to leave a team of BVBs status at the time for RBS?

{Ed002's Note - An easy one. He was recruited with Roger Schmidt by RB Salzburg under Ralf Rangnick for a clean sheet of paper project and now, with Schmidt, is doing a similar job at Bayer Leverkusen.}

07 Jan 2016 16:53:40
Interesting. Thanks for the info, Ed002.

07 Jan 2016 14:11:01
Well it's been confirmed, ojo and illori are back at liverpool.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

07 Jan 2016 14:48:28
Reports are suggesting they are eligible for Friday's games can you clear this up please Eds/ anyone in the know?

{Ed002's Note - If there registrations are processed today then yes. As it is simply a transfer of a loan registration back and a little paperwork with the clubs to sign it may well be.}

07 Jan 2016 14:49:15
And ssn saying they can play Friday night against Exeter.

07 Jan 2016 15:14:07
Id rather ilori back at our club rather Villas rotting in reserves playing bromsgrove rovers. At least like tonight he might get game time and be judged properly poor lad hasn't even set foot on the pitch for the first i think.

07 Jan 2016 15:19:44
Thank you for your reply Ed02 appreciated. Anyone know what Exeters frontline is like? If they have a physical front man I would be worried as I have a feeling that may be where Ilori lacks a bit.

07 Jan 2016 15:41:01
With all the injuries he can finally prove himself as the Messiah for our awful defense.

07 Jan 2016 15:52:36
don't worry about that, get kolo at back for his strength and get illori the whippet next to him for when the chase is on.

07 Jan 2016 16:04:41
Bromsgrove rovers no longer exist it's now bromsgrove sporting and they aren't in the same league.

07 Jan 2016 16:11:48
Same with Ken, i`d rather have him here around the first team and see what he`s all about. Klopp knows Ilori well enuff that he was interested in taking him to BVB so that may help him as well, a manager that actually cares about him.

07 Jan 2016 16:13:17
Ibe just done his hamstring, so ojo could be pushing for a start if registered in time.

07 Jan 2016 19:02:31
I'm hoping Kent gets a look in as well. Cannot believe we have another player out. What can this be put down too? Unfit players? Or just bad luck? I hope these guys are back sooner than later.

07 Jan 2016 13:57:49
Aside from Ilori and injuries not a lot is happening.

So, with that in mind, question for you all (and Eds) .

What is the worst and / or best - football related merchandise you have ever bought anyone or had bought for you.

I'm sure there are some absolute shockers out there.

Personally -

my best is a signed book of Kenny's from the big man himself. I also bought myself the allied shirt from Escape to Victory that I am quite fond of.

The worst - when I was a wee lad I did have some pretty awful LFC wallpaper it has to be said.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

07 Jan 2016 14:16:50
I bought the white away top, 02 season I believe and decided to spend my birthday money on getting Le Tallec printed on the back.

I'll leave it to you whether you think that's my best or worst purchase.

{Ed002's Note - It will be fine when he returns as manager.}

07 Jan 2016 14:22:30
Don't really have a best (although my wife gave me a the 2016 Liverpool annual in my stocking) .

Although I didn't get it (thank god) the worst would have been a pair of Jermaine Pennant's shorts I bid around €200 on at a charity auction. You won't be surprised to hear I was very drunk.

07 Jan 2016 14:28:08
My favourite was Robbie Fowlers book which was a decent read but I also got it signed "You're looking at a goal Scoring genius" which made it much better. The worst I've bought was when we went to Benidorm for a mates Stag Do we found the Top for Benidorm fc who no longer exist. Also when my mate moved to the Midlands we went to see a Bromsgrove Rovers Match after being in the pub all day. I decided to buy the Kit from the club shop. Needless to say both tops are now being used as pyjamas.

{Ed001's Note - I can't believe Bromsgrove Rovers have a club shop!}

07 Jan 2016 14:30:54
I have several signed shirts from various Liverpool teams, a few Gerrard ones. One teams shirt I have that I am quite fond of, is one with Robbie Keanes signature on and a few other players who weren't at the club that long, just nice to get their mark on an LFC shirt. I do have various signed memorabilia from the lehend that is, Florent-Sinama Pongolle. He was going out with a family friends Grand-daughter at the time. I used to ask for match tickets and just get loads of signed pictures and shirts of him! Cue the 'Oh wow, that's amazing! ' with the forced smile.

07 Jan 2016 14:51:17
Bromsgrove Rovers not only had a club shop but a pitch long pub in one of the stands that you could watch the match from. This was 2004 and it was £6 to get into the game but strangely the Club top cost £35. I believe the club has been re-branded now as Bromsgrove sporting and completely changed the kit.

07 Jan 2016 15:25:31
I got pair of black Liverpool trainers for Christmas one year in the early nineties. Mate got the exact same only Celtic ones. They didn't last us until New Years they were that bad. Anyone else have the same pair?

07 Jan 2016 15:37:30
Ed002 surely u r referring to le tallec returning as ladies team coach right.

07 Jan 2016 15:55:40
Best: my collection of Match Attax 07/ 08 cards (whole Liverpool team)

Worst: Gerrards book.

07 Jan 2016 15:58:27
I was gifted "I am Zlatan" one Christmas. I have no interest in Zlatan as a player until such a time as he joins Liverpool (ie. never), so as a serious autobiography, I'm not bothered with it.

But I heard he inflated his sense of self-importance in the book as some sort of joke, so I read it anyway. If it's a joke I'm afraid I didn't get it.

I was also a little disappointed that Rafa didn't shovel some dirt at people in his book. Guess he actually wanted to work in football again.

{Ed001's Note - Zlatan didn't do it mate, the author did and Zlatan was initially furious until the author explained it was just in jest and since then he has been living up to the image presented for a laugh.}

07 Jan 2016 16:06:22
My parents were pretty poor when I was growing up, and also have zero interest in football. I had my eyes on the 97-98 away shirt since the start of the season (At the time, it was the most beautiful shirt I had ever laid my eyes on! ), and my mum said she would buy it for me for my birthday. At the time, no one really had internet, so she ordered it from a magazine, which of course would take 6 weeks to deliver. Anyway, she orders it just before my birthday in April, and it arrives in May. I wanted Fowler 9 on the back but they didn't offer it as an option so I opted for Collymore 8.of course Liverpool announce he is leaving a matter of days after I received my first ever LFC shirt. Didn't stop me wearing it at any given opportunity however.

{Ed001's Note - I think the best I had, as I had hundreds of signed things, was the video me mam sent off to get me of the 9-0 v Palace. She had to send off for it special, in those days you just couldn't get videos of matches, I wore it out watching it over and over and over again.

I really can't think of the worst.}

07 Jan 2016 17:10:12
The best is an easy one - my wife, knowing how much I love Liverpool, allowed me to name our tables at our wedding after Liverpool greats - we obviously sat at "Anfield" being the top table! I asked her, on the off chance, to send an invitation to the Liverpool team to see if anyone turned up! She didn't (and we were playing 200 miles away on the day! ) but did send a wedding card for some signatures. She was blown away when, in return, she was sent a signed card, with "Congratulations on your wedding day X and Y" and the date, signed by close to everyone at the club at the time (including Rafa, Cara, Stevie, Xavi, Pepe etc) and a lovely photo of the Kop in full swing, scarves out! She then got it professionally framed and gave it to me on our wedding day! I knew then that I'd picked the right lady!

Worst is definitely a toss up between "My Story" and Torres hypocrital guff!

07 Jan 2016 17:37:48
Forgot about Gerrards book. I gave mind to the charity shop. I also had a photo of shanks in my bedroom at my parents years ago. When I first started going with the missus I had her convinced it was my granda until she found a book about footballs greatest managers.

07 Jan 2016 17:49:08
Thats a great story zed love that, you make sure you cherish that woman and great to see the club has some heart.

07 Jan 2016 18:07:50
First Christmas me and the mrs were together she bought be a framed and signed Gerrard shirt from the champs league final. Best gift I'd ever gotten.

07 Jan 2016 18:21:47
Forgot to mention My worst was a bottle of liverpool aftershave, if it wasn't bad enough that it stank like hell, I was only about 7 when I got it!

07 Jan 2016 19:40:07
someone bought me a Real Madrid bic lighter with Ronaldo on it!

07 Jan 2016 21:04:06
Lol. I bought the 'el Nino' signed Guernsey pack from the lfc store.

But still, I feel sorry for anyone who has anything signed by Michael Owen. Not even a toons fan would want that.

The second coming .

{Ed001's Note - getting excited for the resurrection then Ron?}

07 Jan 2016 13:59:31
Oh well then we'll most probably win the league and both domestic cups as well as the EL now then.

07 Jan 2016 14:11:06
I'm actually worried in case he scores a hattrick from centre back and is unbelievably good haha! Is he fit for that matter, I'm sure one of the eds said he wasn't?

07 Jan 2016 14:55:29
He should be good with crosses Ed. 😀.

07 Jan 2016 16:13:19
Another BR wrong that Klopp has righted and I`m sure it will not be the last.

07 Jan 2016 17:11:10
He's young enough for a second coming. These days I've got to wait a few days before I'm ready again ;)

07 Jan 2016 15:29:39
Its going to be nice if he just starts. Simple as. No build up or expectations just give him 90 minutes.

When someone like stops was signed as a rb for a few mil and illori is meant to be this highly rated actually cb, my hope is sith tjr game time stones has received (along with the likes of mason, Kane, Ali) he can forge a solid career at our gaf.

Wether he gord as good as ed002 believes he will 😉 or he is just ok. I just can't see him being so bad that he can warrant a plscr in the team.

Fingers crossed. 2 1/ 2 years for a start, go take it lad.

41,000 wasn't too bad a turn out for a friendly of that nature either, shows how far football could go in Aus.

Hey Shellharbour, is that near nelson bay?

07 Jan 2016 12:54:05
Loved it. Gerrard, Fowler and Carra were pure class. Great night.

07 Jan 2016 13:37:04
It's a good crowd considering its summer holidays and the city is pretty quiet.

07 Jan 2016 10:56:12
Welcome back Tiago! I'm looking forward to seeing how the situation with Ilori develops. My assumption is that there's something amiss with him (possibly beyond simple ability) but I'd be delighted to be proved wrong. Either way, him getting some game time so we can finally have some evidence to support the longest running argument on this site would be great.

It's confirmed toure sakho and Lovren are out, but klopp has also said they're not training this week, just recovering. I don't know if he will play him without looking, but it could well be him playing against Exeter with the alternative being Lucas and can I guess.

07 Jan 2016 16:14:46
Ilori will play vs Exeter, that much is a given. We have scampered to get him here and registered to play on Fri. Lucas will partner him, IMO.

07 Jan 2016 10:44:11
Lads, think we need rushy back, just watched him slot home a proper strikers goal, riise with the assist, was beautiful to watch. Gerrard to Riise to Rush Gooooaall

Luis Garcia got 2 and had me out my seat. Quality goals they were and Aldrige finished it off to make it 4-0.

Great win for the Reds lol, seriously though these boys might be a bit older but havnt lost there touch, Grobelaar in goal looked better than Migs.

Stevie G just looked class through out, was good for the kids to see some glimpses of Magic by some of our legends, and my 1 year old son can now say he saw Rush score.

Left comment on banter earlier on in week with regards to tickets for sunderland match. Heading over from Ireland.

Tried General sale this morning and had no luck. Pure lottery of a system, sold out in 2 mins?!

Took advice of some posters here and contacted everyone on done deal and other sale sites and the best I'm getting is to check back the week of the game.

Without buying from online sites or hospitality both of which are 150£ at least. what's my options?

Anyone know if I was outside Anfield on morning of game if I'd get tickets? or at least a pub nearby where I'd get tickets for 70 or 80£?

Thanks for posting eds.

No chance mate.

07 Jan 2016 11:30:43
At the KOP end of the stadium, there is a petrol station to the left as you're coming out the club shop (assuming my memory is correct) . There are sometimes a few guys stood by a low brick wall that surrounds the petrol stations courtyard. They usually sell tickets at about £70 a head.

It's a hell of a gamble to rely on that though. I'd just bite the bullet and pay for hospitality mate.

07 Jan 2016 11:58:48
Don't go tanked up with alcohol. There's usually a few people in the area EMS described who will try to rip u off with false tickets or vouchers. Speaking from personal experience have all your wits about u. Enjoy the game if u get in!

07 Jan 2016 12:09:22
Thanks everyone will try the above!

07 Jan 2016 12:24:57
Have u tried twitter? Loads of sites on there that sell for face value. I got one the other week. The trouble is that there is a few of you. Just go hospitality, it's worth it and u will get meal etc depending on option u choose. Good luck.

07 Jan 2016 13:35:55
When the stadium is expanded it will be easier but so far I have just gone hospitality rather than touts. Roughly £150 alright but that's about £80 more than you want - £80 extra to be guaranteed you're getting in. I haven't seen touts selling outside the stadium when I've been over. Best of luck!

07 Jan 2016 13:47:24
If you can't sort it before you travel mate then stump up the hospitality money.

I wouldn't risk it near the ground.

07 Jan 2016 13:55:57
I'd recommend hospitality, it's a quality way to watch the match, although every week I would prefer to stand with the kop.

07 Jan 2016 15:04:47
Tbh mate looking at what's been said and from friends and personal memory there are a lot of fake tickets about so chances are youse could all come and buy a set a fakes for £70 and not see the game, as a rare occasion I would advice paying the hospitality as it will be a better experience for any new attenders anyway.

07 Jan 2016 15:35:36
Yeah makes sense I suppose for the sake of 80£ I'll have peace of mind going over that I'll defo see game.

Only issue now is to convince my 3 mates that this is the best option. With sterling to euro rate travelling over is very expensive as is.

Many thanks for everyone's help!

Can't wait to see Ilori make a show of Sunderland. Reckon he'll be brilliant beside Hummels ;)

07 Jan 2016 09:26:05
Barcelona and Real Madrid scouts have been keeping an eye on the Premier league and more importantly Liverpool Rumours page.

Both teams are set to bid £20million plus add one with a buy back clause for wonder kid Tiago Ilori.

Redmen,

Looking to gauge opinion on tomorrows game with Exeter.

Do you think Klopp will play a strong team as he seems to be a man who values all competitions. Do you want him to go full strength?

Or do you think he can afford no more injuries and so will play a team of reserves/ fringe players?

I'm undecided on what I think he will do, and what I want him to do.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

07 Jan 2016 08:41:54
H e should play a slightly weakened team for me, I know people will want to stay in the FA cup and play a strong team, but currently we're almost in a final of another cup and for the FA cup could be looking at a run of 10 games before the final if there are replays and at minimum 5.
I would concentrate on getting players fit for Stoke, and the elague, the amount of games played over winter has taken its toll on the squad.
This might be the game to give the youth a chance, put sinclair in the shop window as it were, let bogdan have another go, give randall, tex and smith a run out.
I think our priorities should now align with 4th and winning the carling cup, and progressing in the EL.

07 Jan 2016 08:46:22
It's a difficult decision and but one we should hope Klopp to get right. But it's the cup and funny things can happen even to the best manager. I think we have seen in previous rounds of the capital one cup the sides he has put out and would expect something similar.
Trouble is that we have a lot of injuries so these same "fringe" players may be required to play in the prem at games at the weekend also. If any of these were also to get injured then it makes things difficult but you'd like to think our luck has to change injury wise soon.

07 Jan 2016 09:09:40
I think he should concentrate on the carling and league, rest some of the first team and give fringe and youth players a game. So as already sugessted tex, ojo, kent etc and hopefully illori if we can get him back on time. Think its a little early for flanno, but players like wilson can also get a run out. I would play bogdan, he is human and we all make mistakes, i would give him a chance to redeem himself.

{Ed023's Note - I don't turning to alcohol is the answer for the squad..}

07 Jan 2016 09:27:43
There is an 8 day break between the Exeter match and the Arsenal match.
Injuries can happen in training too.

Win the game, there is enough time to recover. Happy for youngsters to get a chance, but winning the game is the priority. (I still remember Burnley and Oldham) .

07 Jan 2016 09:29:47
Play Benteke for the full game. One it gets him fit and secondly I hope it pisses him off and makes want to prove a point in the Premier League. He may also bag a few goals to improve his stats for the end of the year should we decide to part ways. (Looking more and more likely at the moment)

07 Jan 2016 09:44:06
I may be mistaken but I think there only a 4 day turnaround between Exeter and arsenal. Exeter on the Friday night then the gooners next Wednesday.

{Ed002's Note - How many days are there in your week?}

07 Jan 2016 09:51:45
I might be mistaken Ron but I am sure the Arsenal game is on Wednesday night? followed by Utd at the weekend?

07 Jan 2016 09:59:57
Yeah sorry lads, my mistake.

{Ed002's Note - We will be running classes for the Liverpool "fans" on simple mathematics, counting, learning the days of the week and others starting very soon.}

07 Jan 2016 10:28:56
I would give the FA Cup a miss this season. Too many injuries and the players are too inconsistent. We have one foot in the league cup, in the knockouts of the Europa and still fighting for top4. That is a lot to handle for any squad with nearly half the first team players injured. Exeter should be a good opportunity for Ilori, Kent, Ojo, Randall etc to make their mark and show Klopp if they are good enough.
BTW Ed002, that reply to Ron Keague's post was just gold. Absolutely hilarious.

07 Jan 2016 10:30:38
Any chance of enrolling the transfer committee to these counting and mathematics classes ed?

07 Jan 2016 11:02:23
Field the strongest side and go all out to score a couple first half. Then, put on the youngsters and more defensive players second half. Simples.

07 Jan 2016 11:19:59
I know it's the lottery of the cup, but a team with benteke, lallana, Allen, smith, bogdan, can, and a few youngsters should win.

07 Jan 2016 12:35:13
I'm with Fencey, what's wrong with having a mix?

07 Jan 2016 12:39:25
Have to agree that fielding the strongest side we can is best, that's not too say the kids shouldn't play. Also thinking that players such as Smith, Randall, Brannagan, Tex, illori are a part of our current strongest team when u think about the injurys we have and the amount of games played. Plus they have to start starting games it's the only way to know where they are at in there development.

There's no way to convince me that we should throw this away either, that's a rubbish line of thought. We play every game to win, every cup or competition is a chance at silverware, success breeds success, a winning mentality is vital to our squad, dosnt matter who it's against or what comp it is. It astounds me to think people want us to lose so we don't have to play a few extra games, if we were to make it to the final, at a rough guess it's what 8 extra games over the next 4 months. If Klopp can win us 1 trophy this season no matter what it is he will achieved more in a matter of months than Brendan achieved in years, plus his status among LFC supporters and the way we would act towards the team would be something not experienced since Kenny/ Rafa.

In this Moment, I Believe.

07 Jan 2016 16:40:16
Whatever team we field will be told by klopp to go out and win the game. He`s not a Wenger who takes games off because he couldn`t be bothered about the outcome. the boys whoever plays, are expected to compete and perform to the fullest and Klopp will demand that from them.

{Ed023's Note - I doubt Wenger sends his teams out not caring the outcome}

07 Jan 2016 07:59:39
Hi Eds, if we like a player say from Everton, ManU, do you reckon they will do biz if it makes sense and put aside sentiments of being traditional rivals? i was thinking of few players who could have gotten from ManU like hernandez or stones/ coleman.
