U got to love man city...
Breaking records.... Spending the most and paying out the most.... Only to be the first english club never winning a game in champions league..

Pfff even a 2nd string dortmund team beat em...

Lfc....can compete guys ..we don't need the 20m players..just need scouts to find hungry and gifted young-ish players who have quality and the rest will take care of itself

Any team with a lack of firepower would struggle..so we might aswell just see what happens till the summer

Red lobster

Well at least they were in it, and will most likely qualify againm
And LFC not a chance of qualifying.

So don't be soo jealousm

Man C couldn't even qualify for the Europa this year lol

You where in it for spending billions on players in the first place. You bought success, liverpool, man united and arsenal haven't.

As we aint awash with cash anyone else rate Pilkington of Norwich? every time i see him looks a cut above.Alsio fairly keen on Mochu and Gera.Whats others views please?

I know we can't afford to splash out on expensive, world class players but I don't think those players mentioned are good enough or are a lot better than what we've already got.

For what it's worth, I actually agree with you a bit. Pilkington looks decent and so does Gera. I assume the other one is Michu (?) who is obviously playing well much of the time.

The hard part I think is some people elevate their game when surrounded by better players, others look good compared to the average, but are poor when called upon in a bigger team. Figuring out which one of those the above are (or others) is the tricky part...

I really dont understand why Liverpool would be interested in a Mochu, letters written in Japan to a family who has experienced the death of a loved one.

Just watched Dortmund beat Man City, this was not even Dortmunds strongest team mind you. In 2006–07 season, Mainz 05 were relegated with Klopp as manager, he later resigned and became the manager of Dortmund, Klopp took the club to a sixth place finish in his first season in charge, and a fifth place finish in the season after that, We all know how successful his been the past two seasons, The average age team age is just above 24 years old. It's hard to compare leagues so I won't do that but I firmly believe given our current youth system and with Rogers willing to use them in the first team, along with some Backing by our owners and patience from us Liverpool will once again be a force. I hope we give Rogers time, often people say the team is in a "transition" period, I think the club in general are only now truly in transition, I think we heading in the right direction. Leem

Agree with all

Great Post Mate. I totally agree.

Chi-Paul

Right direction at a 180 degrees.
Sorry we are nowhere near anything to be proud off yet... Just Average!.

Old fish in a new pond.

I agree, LFC are starting to move forward if it takes 2-3 seasons I don't care, I want us back where we belong with players playing their hearts out for a team they love, not a team that just pays their wages, Daniel after is the best example of this, he is a legend to me. Never stops playing gets frustrated when not moving forwards, pushes the team from the back. These are the players we need and we alreAdy have the manager. Give BR time he is quality.

BR is not Klopp and never will be. Klopp is a very good manager who understands how to change the team up and play different strategies. Not just keep the ball with no penetration

05 Dec 2012 11:01:36
I doubt you know anything about either manager, or ever heard of Klopp before he won Titles. You a nameless clown, Rogers has changed Strategies countless times sometimes even during the first half. Have you ever seen Liverpool or Dortmund play! Leem

04 Dec 2012 21:44:02
they u18s were outstanding tonight
mclaughlin ibe peterson sinclair and baio all excellent, we have the right manager in rodgers to bring these lads through aswell

majestic69

Yeah I thought it was a top performance, couldn't believe how well they kept possession and made Swindon look very ordinary, also thought the lad Lussey put in a strong performance.

04 Dec 2012 21:36:08
hiya eds , as good as sterling is should the club be held to ransom by him or his agent , one bad apple ! you know the rest of it , i would drop him back to the under 21s once we sign players in january , he might take the hint then that he cant hold any club to ransom ,

mickey b
JFT96 {Ed001's Note - that's if he is holding the club to ransom, I think this is just a standard contract negotiation myself.}

London media are talking about it. Can't think why?

Let's get the money for him now.
He may just be a 'flash in the pan'.
A lot car go right or wrong.

04 Dec 2012 21:30:56
Llorente's contract is running out by next summer. Eds do you think Bilbao will sell in january because they cant get money in the summer {Ed001's Note - they are looking to sell.}

04 Dec 2012 21:27:35
Just gonna throw this out there

How many of you/us actually expected Carroll to succeed at Liverpool and justify his price tag?

Coz, well... I didn't

Random Red

I had hopes that he would, but my expectation was pretty much what has happened. Couple of decent months in the PL does not a superstar make.

I think it's quite clear from my posts at the time that I certainly didn't

Chris in Tamworth {Ed001's Note - we all know you love Andy Carroll Chris, you made that plain from the start!}

I got lambasted for denouncing him from the outset. He was never a Liverpool player, it's painful to watch him at West Ham. The lad can't trap a ball, has no turn of pace, hides away from his primary role, gets muscled out of games, always falling over, takes an age to get the ball onto his left foot. Need I on. Carroll and Downing £55 mill, it's criminal.

After manchester city match I had great expectations that he can justufy his price tag but unfortunarely it goes other way
st
ynwa

I honestly would have liked to see him get more chances. He doesn't seem to fit BRs style so no-one can blame the manager for loaning him out but I remember a young Carroll hammering them in for the barcodes and some great goals for us (Man C springs to mind). He was never going to live up to his value and unlikely to ever be a success at Liverpool but some team will play to his strengths and he'll be a 20 goal a season striker again. Best of luck to him.

cozinoz

Carroll is a donkey. I got slated left and right for calling him names. Wonder how they feel now. He never game a damn about the club, spends half his life in the pub.....
No point in supporting such a moron, whether he wears the famous liverpool jersey or not. Average midtable player at best.
Indian Buzzer {Ed002's Note - I don't know how well you know Andy Carroll but it remains a shame that there are still Liverpool fans who can be so abusive about employees of the club. I imagine that there are many fans that find you a complete embarrassment.}

Fully agree with Ed002. Pity, because your recent posts have been relatively constructive, Buzzer, but this sort of thing just reminds me what garbage you used to throw at Kenny and his signings.

Eds fellow reds , under 18 finished 5.0 win some good little players out there ,especially jack Dunn up front clever player , new poacher in the making there .remember the name .

04 Dec 2012 20:39:44
Hi Eds I know this is a rumour site so we get all sorts of people's "rumours" that are obliviously just thought up as they sit at home making up there dreams and lies! Asking about a player they have seen from the polish 10th division (is there any chance of him eds)! What I'm trying to say since you guys filter what's put up here, can you guys cut out the boring I hear Gerrard is off to such and such or reina is going to be involved in a swap for Walcott! We all know who Liverpool are linked with and it's well documented at the moment there is no change in any situations! Sorry for the rant eds yis are doing a great job! Dubred {Ed001's Note - we do delete most of those posts. Something has to be posted though or the site will just die and that is, I am sad to say, what the vast majority of posters send in.}

Crikey Ed. I'd be suicidal if I were you. {Ed001's Note - it can make you feel that way. I do have to take regular breaks from ploughing through the same posts over and over. No one seems to bother reading through before they post.}

04 Dec 2012 20:26:29
Last year we almost buy Jackson martinez . £7m. they guy himself say he will like to play epl. but kenny use £35m, £20m, £18m for 3 show caal english player is make club out of money. watch the guy playing like rocking.

Lee Dixon about Arsenals failings in recent times-Draw any parralells to LFC?="If you break Wengers tenure down into two halfs.1st half he was competing with a solid base,and introduced players non of us had heard of.Anelka came in,petite,Viera from Milan.And he built a team competing 1st and 2nd,for first 5-6 years being manager.Then all of a sudden Abramovitch turns up 2003 and blew everybody outve the water,spending money left,right and centre.Everybody suddenly trying ti play catch up"./Now i know obviously differences in our situ H And g,Stadia etc etc,but key points he made as follows-"MAN CITY,MAN U,CHAVSKI SPENT MONEY,IF UTD NEEDED A STRIKER THEY WENT OUT AND BOUGHT ONE,AND THEM AND CITY SPENT AN AWFUL LOTVE MONEY.NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN COS WAY ARSENE LIKES TO DO IT,AND ARSENALS POLICY ASWELL.THEIR COMPETING FOR 3RD AND 4TH,Over the 2nd half of his tenure.WHICH IS FINE IF THATS WHERE YOU WANA BE.BUT THE CLUB OBVIOUSLY HAS EXPECTATIONS FROM THE FANS,AND THEY WANT MORE.BUT ARSENE AND THE FINANCIAL SITUATION,THE BOARDS HAPPY WITH THAT./MAIN POINT!!!="THEY'D OBVIOUSLY LIKE TO BE 1ST,BUT THEY'LL NEVER EVER COMPETE TILL THEY GO INTO THOSE REALMS OF SPENDING THAT MONEY!!! /Went on to say-"They've now wether you like it or not become a selling club,no doubt about that.They sell their best players to THEIR RIVALS (Torres at time springs to mind,and another reason to keep Sterling) So thats where were at and UNLESS SOMETHING CHANGES,UNLESS ARSENE AND THE CLUB CHANGE THEIR POLICY THAT WILL ALWAYS BE THE CASE!!/ Harsh but i agree with most.KK wasted cash yes.And kid policy laudable.But if we dont get new Stadia and buy some real quality to add to kids.We wont compete at very top again

Why does this get through? All your caps just makes me want to disagree. {Ed001's Note - I had no idea what he was on about, was hoping it would make sense to someone. All the caps just hurt my head.}

04 Dec 2012 20:15:24
Watching the under 18's playing Swindon.
I have never seen in my 30+ years watching the reds so many fantastic players coming through the ranks.
Keep the faith, we have a cream crop of young players all playing the same way as the first team and under21's.
The future looks very, very good.
5 - 0 to the reds at the moment

Redknapp, McManaman, Fowler, Gerrard, Owen,Carra

If any of them are half as good as that lot were they'll be a star.

Redknapp? Really?

04 Dec 2012 19:59:02
i have been here with liverpool sinse 1963 watched all the names come and go onething no body mentions all our goal scorers did not have to do it alone hunt rush fowler owen all got space because defences had to contain other players in each side who could get goals at present you have the league top scorer but you want to bring in a top striker do you move suarez to the wing or play with two strikers if it is the second option then why not just bring in our two wide men in closer to him giving centerbacks problems of picking men up instead of two marking one we have two off the best overlapping fulbacks in the league who will pull men out of defence creating space in the past and not that long ago our midfeild players scored goals for fun we dont see that now with lucas back take the break off and go at teams tactics are part off the modern game but only scoring goals win them

Well said Sir!

We already do that only problem is were doing it with a fullback (Enrique) and 17 yr old kid (Sterling)
We need options upfront ( Walcott and Sturridge) with a fluid front 3 also capable of goals and pace on the counter attack. Suarez,Borini,Sterling,Walcott and Sturridge any 3 from the 5 would be good without breaking the bank.
kidmillions

Owen used to get all our goals.
Torres used to get all our goals.

Really, there's nothing in this theory.

Daniel Sturridge -
Bolton 12 games, 8 goals
23 years old
goal scorer
egotisical
england international
cut price

Why not?

Daveevad

Daniel Sturridge currently injured (Hamstring). Has played 47 games for Chelsea and scored 12 goals.

This season he's played 7 times and managed 1 goal.

I think he would be a good buy, but he does seem to be a bit too selfish, and do we really need another player like that as we already have Suarez.

Selfish lazy and not a team player, and never happy,

You missed out ...

expensive (wages and he'd cost about 15m )
selfish
lazy
overhyped
greedy, not a team player
only 5 goals in 2012

Errr.... Cos he's sh!te

Huxleypig

04 Dec 2012 22:40:55
Fair enough. Thanks guys. Ill let Brendan know.

Daveevad

Can anyone tell me what games they have watched that sturridge has been selfish and lazy, besides the, in every game he has played answer cause i want to know that this isn't a one sheep goes ba they all go ba situation. the guy has started like 2 games this season and for the other 90 odd games he has played for chelsea i would bet 50% to 75% he got less then 10 minutes on the pitch. so the way i see it his bolton stats are a better representation of his goals to game ratio. i would be more than happy to have him in the squad for say less than 12million and on wages of no more than 60,000

KUMBER {Ed001's Note - I am sorry but the only answer I could give would be 'in every game I have watched him play'. If that isn't a good enough answer, then tough because it is the truth.}

I rather us re-sign Ince for 6 mill (35% back to us) than watch him banging in the goals for united

Shak Attack

I'd rather see him (and dad) pissing Fergie off than pissing Rodgers off.

04 Dec 2012 18:46:33
IMO Two very important player brendan rogers should buy this jan market is a striker and a cheap genuine DM as cover (a la Diame of WestHam).

AS bonus would be a proven left back and a cheap (from abroad) specialist rigth-back as sub. With borini comming back sooner, we will have 3 strikers + one of the youngsters.

Therefore:
4 In`s
(ST,LB, Cover RB & DM)

7Out`s: (Downing,Wilson,Pacheco,Cole,spearing,Doni,flanagan (won`t make it at LFC

Diame could have joined us before Kenny was sacked but didn't

Flanno isnt ready for the skip yet. Give the lad a chance. Send him on loan because he has the potential to be very good.

I have just seen the video for the Hillsborough single. It's very emotional but its really enjoyable as well so fairplay to everybody involved. Let's hope it gets to number 1 for Christmas.

Ed's, there is clearly a financial incentive for La Liga players to come to the PL. Any thoughts on Rodgers taking advantage of this? Wenger has commented in an interview that there are great deals to be had in Spain. Perhaps that's where Rodgers interests lie, and not in Walcott, etc of PL.

Just a thought.

Coop {Ed001's Note - only because a number of La Liga clubs are in financial difficulties due to paying big wages. There is no financial incentive to the player as such.}

What about Spanish economics? Isn't tax going up?

BthekingB {Ed001's Note - but we don't pay high wages so that doesn't make any difference.}

You also have to bear in mind the Spanish government increased the tax rate for highest earners.

ChrisE {Ed001's Note - yes but that doesn't really matter as our tax rate is almost the same.}

Ha, ha!.

So taking up the news feeds today was stories of Daniel Sturridge "demanding" £80k a week originating from the Mirror!! Why do people actually bother reading articles by the Mirror seriously. It's becoming a joke at this stage that these journalists can write whatever they want about whoever they want and get away with it. The lad had to come out and state that these "demand" claims are false.

So when you see an article in the Mirror about Liverpool buying this that and the other just simply ignore it.

Rocky {Ed002's Note - Like you did?}

That's the price we pay for a free press.

Thought is was 30p or more

Daniel Sturridge only represents chelsea's revenge for selling them Torres for 50 mil. Forget Daniel LFC, not good enough for them, defo not good enough for us.

The annoying thing is about Liverpool wanting to sign Sturridge is he was offered to us as part of the Torres deal but we weren't interested.

I didn't read the article Ed002, as i said, news feed kept popping up with the same story, ORIGINATING from the Mirror!

Hello Macca hope all is well. Wondering if you could give a spot of info regarding any definite january targets aside from Huntelaar? Many thanks

Huntelaar looks to be on his way to Arsenal

04 Dec 2012 17:09:17
Just a few signings in January, only in attacking areas - things like backup for Lucas, replacement for Carragher, possible new LB will be left till the summer. I'm hearing De Vrij is definitely a target though for a centre back.

The attacking players are Sturridge, Jeffren and a box striker - Long, Huntelaar, Ba have been watched.

Does any one know or have any ideas if Liverpool looking at selling off Pacheco, or is he seen as having a future at Liverpool?

I only ask because i think we should loan him to Wigan, especially if Di Santo leaves, as i think Martinez would love to work with Pacheco, even on a loan for a year or so. It's only helping us and the player as well as Wigan and it's only down the road.

I understand when a player is loaned they're not always given priority, unless the player is seen as a long term solution, but i think Wigan would certainly use Pacheco from the bench, especially if Di Santo does leave for money in January.

Also, something that only pushes positives on the idea is that Martinez players the 3 forwards as we often have, which syncs up nicely tactically for Pacheco and Rodgers in the future.

Idealist? Maybe, but these are certainly the things i'd be trying, i'd be crap at much, if not all of it but i'd not let a player like Pacheco wonder round the corridors of Anfield on match days. He was doing better than Ince was in the youth set up...Blackpool? Or Holloway's Crystal Palace? :)

But it's true, get him games and let's not make the Ince mistake of letting a decent player go for next to nothing, only to see him show signs of quality elsewhere a few months later. He's certainly a good player and has shown it for Spain's youth and for our youth.

In principle seems like a good idea especially if we were interested in any Wigan players.
The downside; Wigan appear to be difficult to deal with.
kidmillions

''Wigan are difficult to deal with.'' i'd doubt they'd be if they were getting something for free, or helping to just cover costs. Whelan was like a toy throwing his rattle out of the pram in the Summer, because he didn't want Martinez to leave.

Offering them Pacheco on loan for a year or 18 months is quite something different, i think Whelan would be like a puppy dog if he's getting something for cheap or on a short term basis.

Never mind about Wigan's players, i'm worried about our players on the edge of the squad but too old for the reserves/U21's as they'll be stopping another youth developing. Just some food for thought.

I thought he maybe included in a deal for Ince, I don't know that we are even interested in Ince but there is a lot of talk. I don't know why I just think he maybe loan to Blackpool for the rest of the season.
Hutch

"i think Whelan would be like a puppy dog if he's getting something for cheap or on a short term basis"

Would Brendon be rubbing his tummy, or would Wehlan be chewing his shoes?

I still remember someone's post here last year after lfc won carling cup " Take that Torres, you left us and missed out on the medal " After that Torres went on to win CL and FA cup. Haha classic

Trophys which he watched CFC win with no input from him whatsoever.

I think 'getting' a medal and 'winning' a medal are quite different. Torres didn't win them - his team mates did...
martinR

In all honesty I don't think anyone posted that whatsoever.

Yeah, that hat trick he scored in both finals to win both cups we're amazing! Wait, what? He uh......oh yeah....he didn't do that.

mozzilfc

To be fair to Mr Torres, he does have some medals, including world cup, Euro Cup, champs league. He was a great striker, he is a liverpool legend. He is also a chelsea waste of money. I'll remember him always in red.

So it took the OP seven months to think of a comeback. Bit slow these Chavs

cozinoz

Torres career has really flourished since he left LFC.

Djimi Traore "won" a champions league medal.

Bernard Diomede "won" a World Cup medal.

That's perspective for Fernando.

Just a point on contracts - All I hear is Sterling demanding this and that. Same thing has happened to Sturridge and he had to get his management company to respond and clear up these made up stories in the press, Its the exact same with Sterling, the press want a story when there probably isnt one.

I am going to just relax and wait to see if he signs which im sure he will because lets face it where else is he going to be playing for such a big club- he goes to Man Utd, Citeh, Chelski, Arsenal or Spurs and he will be sitting on the bench.

Plus it will help to clear a large chunk of post for the eds..

eds and fellow reds

what do you all think if sturridge does arrive good addition or not?

personally i wouldnt mind seeing him in the team he surprised everyone at bolton when given the chance so why cant he do it again boost his confidence and you never know!

good addition believe

bad addition unbelievable

leave comments as well

A

If the quoted price of £12mill is what we are getting him for then it is somewhat a risk. But rogers has already proved he takes risks. Joe Allen is no way worth £15 but he could become a player that is worth that and even more given his potential (still think Ramirez would have been a much better acquisition). Borini was genuinely bought because rogers knows how to utilise him and that he would agree to come to lfc as a squad player, but is he worth £11mill...not a chance. Sturridge is an English international and is 23 so he fits the criteria fsg are looking for. He has an arrogance about him that rogers no doubt admires him for. In the game you need to have a smug attitude to be noticed. Although he showboats a lot of the time, when was the last player to do that for liverpool? My problem is not if sturridge will fit in and do the business (because he can in my opinion) but if him and Suarez will be a clash of egos. Competition is always needed to up your game, so this might bring out the clinical finisher in Suarez we know he can be.

Allen is a good player and i agree 15mil was too much,lucas coming back we can see that allen was bought to give the final passes.
erikson would have cost the same money and a world class player in years to come.
allen will be a good player.
we should sell henderson/downing and buy erikson.

Erikson would cost much more than 15 mil, my friend. At least 10 million more.

~Fresh

I can't really see what he can offer us that is worth buying he does not exactly score a lot of goals and I do not see him troubling defenders a lot. He would be average in my opinion. Maybe at lfc he can play better because he will have better players around him and a different style of play. I am not too excited about him.
We should get Llorente what is his price ed001? thanks
hibsylfc

Almost anyone would be a good addition right now. hope that doesnt cloud judgement.

Over priced
Over rated
Over inflated ego

Might as well flush 15M down the tubes.

Hi EDs
This is directed at whoever wishes to answer. Who,realistically, would you like liverpool to sign and why.At the match on saturday great to see Lucas back albeit on a sad day for the Packer family Deepest sympathies

Regards

Wanyama , Walcott and Huntelaar (would prefer Soldado)

Tom.

Walcott would fit perfectly in a front for us.
Only problem is I see a last minute Dempsey type saga unfolding and Rodgers has said he wants to concude any deals quickly at the beginning of January? So realistically? Sturridge who could turn out to be just what we need? After all you can only pass the ball so much and then players upfront like Suarez,Sterling and Sturridge have to commit defenders and make something happen. So a couple of selfish players who score goals brings a balance in a pass and move team.
kidmillions

Realistically, well that is dynamic, we realistically signed Suarez without Champions League football. So, the net can realistically be cast broader than some might think, pending circumstances during the transfer window.

I like Wilfred Bony myself and think 35 goals in 51 games for Vitesse is very good and certainly worth more of our attention and efforts than Daniel Sturridge who is currently injured and for around the same price apparently, if the media is anything to go on.

But i don't think it be ''impossible or unrealistic'' for FSG to go and get Leandro Damiao for an example at around £25 million-£35 million who has managed to score 62 goals in 93 games since 2011.

Sahin on loan was in many people's opinions ''unrealistic'', Caroll going out on loan to West Ham after we spent so much was ''unrealistic'' but these things happened. Liverpool F.C will always be able to attract top players, not all of them or even the very top players but there will always be one or two even when we are down on our luck..

04 Dec 2012 15:11:27
Why are people saying we should swap Carroll for Ba? do they not understand that we can get just short of £20m for Carroll and Demba Ba has a £7.5m buyout clause. It wouldn't make sense to swap them. Plus we couldn't even if we wanted to as West ham will sign him permenantly if they stay up. (hopefully)

Demba ba is not good enough for us.

04 Dec 2012 16:14:26
Why would they pay 28million for someone who is going to score 5 goals a season for them?

They would probably release Bas buy out clause instead and you'll still be stuck with Carrol ha ha

We'd only get about £10m for Carroll, £12m at best, I would definitely swap him for Ba BTW

Rocky

Exactly who in their right mind would pay 20M for Carroll now? You would be very lucky to find a taker at 10M. RED LENIN

BA clause only applies if buyer in champs league. BA without clause would command fee circa 12 to 15 million. Carroll fee dropping each day we paid more than city paid aguero or tevez. Be a miracle if anyone pays 15 for Carroll and may end hogback here next season like Joe Cole did

Who said anything about paying £28m for anyone? all i said is that we shouldnt swap Carroll for Ba as we would lose out on a profit

Mati.d

Ba's a crock. Won't pass any medical. Would take an person to buy him, hence he plays in Newcastle.

Andy Carroll has depreciated in value faster than an Alpha Romeo. Expect to see him traded in for a second hand ford Mondeo if we fail to offload him in the summer.

Ed's when Borini comes back from injury do you expect him to play down the middle as our striker and move suarez out to one of the wings? I hope the two of them strike up a partnership would love to see Borini succeed in that red shirt. {Ed001's Note - would you move Suarez while he is in such good form? I wouldn't, and I doubt Rodgers will either.}

Borini has pace and a great engine, he would be used as on the flank because of this i believe.

Like he did against Gomel in Europa all those months ago. I miss the little fellow and he's not even got started for us, he's a likeable lad and only wants to show that...

BoriniCanDoIt :)

They will not stick to one position and will interchange throughout games to stretch defences.
Scouse_Pride

I just don't think Borini can play on the wing hes got excellent movement and i just think he would be better suited to be on the end of a move to tap goals in. But yeah I wouldn't move suarez either.

Torres again started why he left LFC for chelsea. OMG its going to 2 years since he lft us and still telling everyone why he left us. Using newsnow as both merits and demerits
st
ynwa

Lads, do you think it's about time I lifted that curse on Torres and took the needle out of his voodoo doll?

redmersey

No. Push it in further. And give it a twist. RED LENIN

EH, if he's asked the question, he's allowed to answer as sees fit. I doubt he ran over to a journalist and blabbed it out. Maybe his agent spoke on Torres' behalf, that goes on a lot. Who knows?

He's on mega money, he's out of sorts and struggling. Talk of a move looming, has a Champions League medal (what he really really wanted) and now he has his mate Benitez managing Chelsea, some might think he's got everything he ever wanted but now he really needs to score more.

I remember with fondness the great performances he put in, the many goals he spoilt us with and how well he and Gerrard worked together and now, would like to see him maybe score a few goals back to back for his and Benitez'z sakes, then maybe go back to Spain and score a fair few a season for Atletico, or even a move to PSG or or Milan something fresh and slightly slower overall than the Premiership is, maybe.

H , nice one RED lenin . rofl
REDistani.

I honestly don't care why he left, the owners lied to him blah blah blah. The only problem we have with him leaving is that we never replaced him. I am now getting bored with FT and his bitching trying to manipulate our fans into not hating him, he left and that is the end of it. As far as I'm concerned we got a very good deal for him. If he was to come back then so be it, but I think his days in England are drawing to a close.

EDS. The FA should change the transfer rules for the EPL. Run it like the lottery. Any player at any team who is not happy can put his name in a lucky draw. Any team who wants to participate can select a numbered ball and then has to buy that player (fee will be pre-agreed by a neutral panel) Let's see how many prima donnas will take a chance!! aklfc {Ed001's Note - that would be fun.}

Is that not how the nfl and nba draft youngsters coming through the system (college basketball to pro basketball)? I wouldn't mind at all but if your in the receiving end of a Carroll then that wouldn't be to much fun now would it.

04 Dec 2012 19:24:29
The team that finished lowest the year before gets first draught pick, second lowest gets second draught pick and so on. The idea is to keep the league interesting, and level teams out. It works really well. Look at colts and redskins this season.

Daveevad

To the second poster no it is not, college players are drafted (with the clubs having looked at those who they want/positions they need and the draft order is determined by where a team finished the previous season with the lowest ranking club getting first pick.

SideShowBob

The NBA actually has a lottery draft. Depending on how poor your record is, you get x amount of balls (say you were 10-72, then you would have the most). As the records improve, the team has less balls to pick from. The teams that did not make the playoffs are all in the pot.

an american red

Sideshowbob that is actually incorrect! As far as I know it goes in that order until you get into the worst 5 teams where a lottery then takes place from 1-5

A rotating front 3. of sterling suarez sturridge would be very special in my view ! Every time I watch sturridge I'm amazed at how easy it is for him to beat his man and cause a scoring chance, yes he is selfish but I know for a fact this can be changed in him wit proper coaching , plus the fact Luis would destroy him for not passing ! :) and sterling cutting in from the left on his right for a shooting chancepass and sturridge doing the same on the right coupled wit the genius that is Luis would be very hard to stop in my view,so when names are mentioned guys let's try and look at the bigger picture and give any proposed signings some good old fashioned pool support and trust br through thick and thin ! Ynwa johnny d {Ed001's Note - if coaching will change it, why hasn't it done so already when all his coaches have been trying to do that?}

I just think every time he gets a chance at Chelsea he feels he has to do somethin special to

Sterling is not a striker, he's played near 22 games and has 1 assist and 1 goal to his name in all competitions.

He's a winger, not a forward/striker. He's caught in two minds all the time, even with simple one twos and through balls, because he's not comfortable.

Rodgers doesn't use wingers, it seems. It's either front three of left back, right back. This Sterling is playing in that position because Rodgers needs/wants him too.

Borini will certainly take over in the forward line when he's back fit. £11 million is the most Rodgers has ever spent on a player bar Joe Allen, Borini needs to be a success as much as Rodgers needs him to be to justify his spending, to a degree.

You have not addressed the fact that he is a dreadful player , a very poor footballer ......

Excellent reply ed...
cant undertsna dwhat people see in sturridge??
if he was spl..he would have played more games at chelsea..

04 Dec 2012 16:04:56
Just think ed that wit Chelsea he has to try and do somethin special or he won't be in the team the next week, but wit us he could be sure of a nice run of games to start playing in his comfort zone and produce final pass or goal regularly,just my view ed1 thanks johnny d

We could always buy him and play him at left back

Yes ed those same coaches that leave him on the bench even though they promised him first team football. Under AVB he had a brilliant spell but then problems started externally and internally at the club. This led to poor coach and player relationships and the older players started getting the call again ahead of people like sturridge once di matteo became manager. Sturridge was hardly ever used under him and that causes you to be unhappy especially as you want to be an England regular and you were getting so many chances under a different coach. Being involved in football makes you understand how it works especially if you were a player. Sturridge would be a good addition in my opinion.

04 Dec 2012 13:46:31
Whats the general opinion if we buy tom ince back for 6million? seems like bad business sense 12 months after letting him go.

Red pete

04 Dec 2012 15:00:22
But looking back at some of your business over the last few seasons it would actually be a cracking deal for you!

I'm more than happy for Tom to come back, whilst £6 million is a little steep, and that means we will have given Blackpool £14 million for two of their players in three years, should it go through, whilst we've given them two players (Bruna and Ince) as well as Shelvey on loan.

Hopefully with hindsight people will learn from this naivety and ignorance. That's all we can do, oh and cough up £5m-£6 million for Ince, although i'd try and negotiate with Blackpool.

I'd see if i could get Jordan Ibe or Jerome Sinclair out on loan in the Championship for the rest of the Season from January. There'll be first team players soon enough with the way things are going. But in all honesty, first team football in pressure matches with points and league places at steak is what they need now ready for us in a season or three.

Let Blackpool keep him, we don't need him.
I would prefer Phillips, if any one from the seasiders.

Phooey

Attitude stinks. He's found his level.

I personally think Sterling will sign a new contract. It is clear that he loves the club and I think the speculation is just complete rubbish. He even tweeted saying the speculation is rubbish and I know people will say he deleted it but that's because the deal hasn't been 100% agreed. Do the Ed's agree or am I just speaking rubbish?
Cheers,
DublinRed. {Ed001's Note - impossible to say, negotiations are ongoing, but personally I think he would be mad not to take the contract right now. He is playing regular first team footie.}

Fergie has always shown interested in Players linked or at LFC. He just wants to distablise LFC or get Raheem to start thinking in a different direction.

If Raheem leaves LFC Fergie will have a lesser team to compete against.
Nice try Fergie. V will never sell him to you anyway. We remember what you did last time a left back wanted to join LFC from man u.

Sorry to say but we have not competed with Man Utd now for at least 3 years.

Hello Ed002,
is there any chance Reina will leave in Jan (to Arsenal), who will step in for suspended Suarez in the next league game? thanks. {Ed002's Note - I would doubt taht Reina will be leaving in January. I think Assaidi might get a run out at the weekend.}

Reina won't move sticks in January, i can see him and a few others moving in the Summer, if we do not show huge leaps forward in terms of improvement in the League to regain Champions League football, seriously as well, no nearly men for these players, two three maybe more years away from that competition and you start asking why, especially if you are a quality player, international player of prominence and sought after my more successful teams than our of recent, in terms of League position..

Pepe, Agger, Skrtel, Suarez,

04 Dec 2012 13:00:35
hi eds, i know its a bit early, but who do you personally think we are going to try and bring to the club in January, i'm hoping for at least a striker as long as it means Suarez wont be pushed out wide. What do you think boys?

Cheers

A player like Pedro from Barcelona would be ideal for us. Even though I believe we have 0 chance of getting him, Dries Mertens is the other option for me. We need to buy 1 striker and 1 goal scoring winger.

04 Dec 2012 11:10:51
hi can i ask liverpool fans who they think will sign in january ?

Crikey ! talk about opening up the deluded floodgates !
Surely the question should be who womt you sign in january?

Much love

Generic mediocre players, maybe Daniel Strurridge who just scraps above mediocrity, on his best day!

If £12 million+ and £80,000k a week is true regarding Strurridge's transfer proposal then the club is brining it on them/ourselves. What has Sturridge done to earn £80k a week in the game? Failed to shine successfully at Man City and Chelsea, that's what.

How can we tell Sterling he's only worth half the wagers Sturridge is worth to the club a week? After Sterling has been working for the club for almost three years and Sturridge will have only just moved? What does that tell Sterling to do, if he wants big money? >Transfer!

Sturridge fits the bill.... He is young, has good pace, great technique and most importantly he is very composed in front of goal.

Whilst Rodgers will always look for a mobile interchanging front 3, Sturridge is left footed, which makes him perfect for the right forward/wing role with right-footed Sterling down the left it would make the team perfectly balanced with Enrique and Johnson overlapping left and right respectively.

The issue of him being selfish and lazy is a bit over the top but partially true. Rodgers will know the player better than you and I, and must think that he can turn him into a real team player.

Like Suso, Assaidi is also undergoing a personal programme to strengthen him to cope with Premier League play¦..

Sturridge is already strong enough and used to playing on the right and up front in this league, and so would instantly add a real consistent goal threat to our attack.

The next issue to be addressed must surely be creativity and composure from the most advanced central midfield position. Too often are we rushing the final ball and should instead be camped out in the final 3rd waiting for the right pass. Gerrard needs real competition for the role.

Whilst Shelvey is brilliant with his forward runs, power and shot on goal, a more composed and cultured talent in this area would be potent. Suso is not quite there yet either so there is clearly room for an advanced scoring playmaker. Not sure who is available and of the required standard, any ideas? I would say Eriksen but I don't know if he is available.

Cheers
JK

Sturridge and Walcott IMO.

04 Dec 2012 10:46:21
Ed is it true that UTD is getting Leondowski for 12 mill?
if yes then we should kick ourself...
we should pump more money and pay a good decent wages to bring him....
he is just what we needed...one signing will be enough..he is 1000 times better than sturridge+ bent+ walcot+ ince or who ever currently together..

he is the making of new fernando torres for us...
his ability and skill is execptional..
can score goals anytime anywhere...

Y are we not bidding him??

Pls say your word....
YNWA {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware no one will be getting him for just 12m.}

04 Dec 2012 11:34:36
It'll be more like £30 million+, thats if they get him at all as Klopp has come out and said that the player is not for sale and doesn't want to leave. So if he was saold it would be for big money!

04 Dec 2012 10:25:26
couple of questions on thurs game do you think lucas will play for match fitness and also louis? and if you finish on the same points as another team will it go on goal difference or head to head record?

04 Dec 2012 11:38:15
Head to head record.
I personally think that Lucas will play against West ham and not Udinese. Suarez will deffinately play against Udinese as he is suspended for the league game and can rest then.

Kev7

Lucas won't play. It goes on Head to Head.

Same points as another team will it go on goal difference or head to head record
==================

Its head to head then goal difference ..
It will be very interesting situation if we manage to beat Udinese and Young boys beat Anji by 2 goal margin .. will give the officials big headache

And I would expect both Lucas and Suarez to play, its a game we have to win .. so it wont be for fitness, they'll play to get a result

Roy

Roy, it depends on our score; if we beat Udinese then we have a better goal difference than the other 2 and will top the table. Second place would depend on their head-to-head, I cant remember the score in their first game!

Hi Eds Can you please post

LFC still have a lot of work to do in the transfermation of the squad. Its is quite clear that Downing and Henderson are not part of BR first team plans and they cost too much and wages are too high to be bit part players. This means that the will be shipped out and a massive loss if we can find a buyer and they want the move to that buyer. Cole is also an expensive sub and the same has to be said about him. This is from the boardroom the main objective in the coming transfer window. The hope is that Carroll will enjoy his stay with west ham and will not object to the loan becoming pernament. The owners are trying to fix the mistakes of the previous owners and this is simply costing a small fortune and hence the very small amount of transfer funds available to BR. The club have set out a plan to recovery first followed by a plan to success. We are at the start of a very long journey that is a bitter pill to swallow by LFC fans who on a Saturday want to win and only look as far forward as the next game. The vision the club is following is far more long term and this means there will not be major money to spend this January. Thats not to say no players will be brought in as we can all see that we do need one or two players. We will need to continue for the rest of the season with a very small squad and BR job will be to simply get the most he can from these players and push them harder to play more games than they should. This season has been execpted to be one without success on the pitch but with major strides off it. The goal for this season is to improve commerical revenue sort out the stadium and trim the squad down of expensive subs and reserve players. If this can be achieved BR can start to work on building a team for next season. January will see a forward come in probably Sturridge only because it is such a problem area. While this wont make pretty reading for LFC supporters in Rafa's words its FACT.
On a personal note, it is another season of dissapointment on the pitch but if the work off the pitch that is being done now sorts out our problems and builds a sound foundation for the club to move forward and challange MUFC MCFC & CFC then the wait will be worth it.

You know what makes me laugh about alot of posts on here is that you all ask the same questions over n over n over again all the time..... It's no wonder the Eds are getting sick of running a site like this......I'm beginning to think a lot less of Liverpool fans now.....you all seem to believe every rumour about us, all the worrying and fretting you do is a joke.....there will be 20 posts asking about the same player n 20 posts asking the same questions ..... Just calm down

Ack17

You are a bit naive if you think that every poster on here is a genuine Liverpool fan.
Look how many negative unsigned posts there are after every game? And that's win.lose or draw.
kidmillions

Wow, you judge a collection of people by taking a very small sample of people who use a gossip and rumours website, well i think that's absolutely ridiculous.

What you've done is make a generalisation and that's a logical fallacy. Minus 5 stars for you!

It is true that the same questions are asked over and over again. Maybe EDs should just reply UTSF (Use the search function) or maybe UTFSF (work it out).
However, comparing this to the Chelski rumours site I have to say that LFC rumours gets a lot more traffic (I've taken a look as I wanted to see the positive reaction to Rafa).
Anyway, I would also like to express my gratitude to all the EDs for all the hard work and good humour they show (you can make a Paypal donation (I have).
So ED's I hope that there are not too many more repeated and tiresome questions for you.
BTW Do you think Torres will come back? Or Owen when he's finished at Stoke? {Ed002's Note - If Owen gets a serious injury I suspect Liverpool will make a significant bid for him.}

I agree with Ed over Owen,
as long as the horse whisperer can fix him we might be keen on him for about 15mil...

Hi eds, i kno v r not interested in signing Nani. But he is out of favour and has already been left out of the squad. He can be en excellent winger and he is oly 26. Since he is transfer listed v can buy him cheap i hope so. Jus my opinion guys. {Ed001's Note - sorry I don't understand, are you really suggesting we sign Nani? I must be misreading it, because no one could really be that insane could they?}

Sick inditement of world we live in today

Unfortunately that won't be the case. There was a case here not so long ago (Facebook Moord) where a 14 year old 'hired killer' (fee 100 euro) was sentenced to one year in jail and three years youth detention after being convicted of murdering a 15 year old girl. As for the ban from football - a new law came out only this year with a maximum ban of three years. The three suspects have been banned for life by their club but they will be backing playing football before Carragher and Gerrard have retired. Het is een schande! (It is scandalous) but that's the way it is here.

....Sigh....An EPL team with arguably the best history & tradition (LFC) is going to play a league game without a centre forward because they don't have one !! Management decided to ship one off on loan (Carroll), one got injured (Borini) and the false CF being used got suspended. Things that happen routinely in a team's daily affairs and that management must foresee and plan for !

This is not about reviving any FSG or management bashing. It's just simply pointing out the utter incompetence that was displayed by management at the close of the last window, and which has to be paid for now. Someone please explain to me what Ian Ayre is being paid for (aside from appearing so smug and confident in front of tv cameras, while shameless over managerial incompetence) ? .....sigh.....ra1969

Good point...but the possitive is..he is back next weekend...
carrol departure is a blessing...he wont make any difference in our team...
we have youngsters...
yesil, morgan, pachhecco.
common mate its a matter of 90 mts..
and then we are back with suarez.....

So it's not about bashing the management again and bringing this up oh but you are leave it,it's done finished forget aboutt it we were all p****d of about what happened as long as it never happens again.

Reusch

Have abit of faith on BR, i really think Shelvey can play false 9.

Absoloutely correct,The dis agree merchants must be doing so cos youve brought up again.Because its fact and has severely damaged our season

Who are you calling the "false centre forward"?

Chris in Tamworth

Time to move on buddy.

davethebutcher

Chris - I was referring to Suarez. We all know he is not a true No. 9. But he is being played in that position ever since Borini got injured. ra1969

Not a true no 9?
What does that even mean?
It's nonsense

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - He means more like an 8.5.}

I thought borini played on the right side of the front 3?

Why has Bent moved from club to club to club?
Why is Sturridge for sale and not for loan?
They simply are not good enough.
Downing was one of Villas better players and we had to spend big to get him, so given how that has worked out why are people talking about Bent?

hi eds do you think michu would be a good signing for liverpool? {Ed001's Note - I am not sure, there are times he looks a donkey and other times he looks top class. If we could get the best out of him, yes he would be a good buy, at the right price.}

Should have bought in the first time...
not now...cant pay another 10 mil for him...
ince, sturridge, no...we need someone better...

I am a season ticket holder at the Liberty and I would say that Michu is going through a purple patch and he cannot do anything wrong at the moment.

I am not convinced that he is the real deal, however - he looks slow at times and his disipline is questionable.

I think Swansea is a good level for him, any higher and he won't be scoring as many. He could not fit in our system really anyway, unless you were to move Suarez wide (not happening), or drop a CM and play him behind the ST, which would drop possession and the ability to control games. Someone with a bit more guile out wide, who has his scoring touch would be ideal. RC

04 Dec 2012 04:30:23
Daily Mirror is reporting Sturridge wants 80K pounds a week and position assurances.

I know papers talk rubbish but I really hope this is true. Then if FSG and BR have any sense, we would never see this over-rated, selfish, egotistical, greedy player ever pull on our red shirt.
We could then spend the money on an actual good player rather than one who thinks he's the best.

MUSHROOM

04 Dec 2012 12:56:03
