With Liverpool bringing in British youth players likely signings, whether this window or in the summer would be
Hughes (Derby)
Ince (Blackpool)
Butland (Birmingham)
Zaha (Palace)

Ince & Butland look most likely

Hughes mite be the summer

Charlie Austin could be on his way to Anfield.

If we are after a young back up striker that don't mind sitting on the bench then he would be a wise buy as he scores goals and is young.

BigD

I'd be genuinely excited by that move! Bags of talent on the lad.

Is there any interest in James Milner heard he could be coming?

03 Jan 2013 23:22:11
I seen down the page some posters saying that 'should the game go ahead' referring to Sundays game. Why wouldn't it Ed? {Ed002's Note - There have been some large carnivorous animals escaping from a local safari park. If they cannot all be rounded up 2 hours before kick off the game will indeed be called off. Signs are encouraging the everything will be OK.}

Ed 02. Wasted on here. U should be on the telly . Brilliant .

I think for Sturridge we should be optimistic. Look at how he did while AVB was with Chelsea. I say this because his attack is similar to BRs. They like 3 versatile attackers. Once DiMateo took over he went to more of a 4-2-3-1 with Drogba up front and Mata in behind him being the key guys. Sturridge didn't fit as well.

However with AVB he did great, playing mostly as a wide forward who cut inside. Which is what he will do here. On December 22nd he had scored 9 goals in the Premier League and that was after missing the first 3 games due to suspension. He didn't score much at all in the 2nd half of the year but when he was playing for AVB last year he played great and he likely will have a similar role here.

I thought rodgers said recently that suarez will be moved to the left to accomodate sturridge down the middle

tom1975

Rodgers made a statement that he has spoken to suarez about sturridge being naturally better through the middle just as he is he will rotate and now be able to change formation up top with a 4411 suarez sometimes playing role in behind sturridge people been moaning there is no plan b suarez has been isolated so many times this season this gives us a differnt option twisting words on twitter from children with a new phone for christmas is a joke

Well I was walking down the street and phased into a Nandos with my brother, as we tucked into the chicken a finger tapped my shoulder and it was the one and only, David Villa. He said he was nailed on for Liverpool and the Sturridge transfer was a smokescreen for his arrival. Before I could get my picture with him, Ken Agüero appeared from the kitchen and handed me the receipt and even shown me his and Villa's new Liverpool shirts. To cap it all off, Snejder came in and rollocked them for revealing the master plan, as the Sturridge smokescreen was actually part of a Villa smokescreen which was part of the Snejider transfer smokescreen. Before I could get a word in, poof they got in their BMW and rode of in a could of smoke ;)

The transfer window is here again, we all have our opinions who we would like to see, and get raging mad on here when they join another club, only to find out in the fullness of time we dodged a bullet.so lets get a caveat emptor list on the go of the ones we were begging for on here in previous windows. heres mine

connor wickham(summer 2011) 10m to sunderland and 1 goal in 18 months.

Quality post mate.

Gylfi Siguurdson, Clint Dempsey, Jordan Rhodes etc.

03 Jan 2013 22:50:17
Rodgers is a joke!now he says suarez would move out wide for sturridge to play centrally. That's utter disrespect to me..sturridge should be the one playing out wide..only rvp, messi, ronaldo, falcao can move suarez out wide..not overated sturridge

And when exactly did br say this

RVP would move Suarez out of position? Are you sure? THAT my friend is disrespectful, was your mouth out!

Ashy

Yeah i think we ll see borini suarez and sturridge playing centrally in different games, it ll be a mobile interchangeable front three

He said it today in the newspaper daily mirror i think

Suarez running from deep is quality! he is not the type of player to sit on the wing either! with a target man to distract from him he will run riot!
just have a little think out side the box mate.

billynwa

Get your head around the idea of a front 3. Suarez is playing centrally at the moment, but how many times do you see him receiving the ball in a wider position? Correct, all the time!
With 3 out and out forwards, it'll just become more unpredictable and fun to watch.

I second the last poster. As a matter of fact that is exactly why Carroll was never in the plans. Rodgers likes forwards who are mobile. Suarez, Borini, Sturridge, Sterling and even Downing when he is on his game. However, I scratch my head at Assaidi's exclusion.

CF

If you read the quote correctly, BR said that Sturridge is at his best centrally and Luis may play in a number of positions to accommodate this. Not as an out-and-out winger though. Suarez plays across the whole front line anyhow, he doesn't stay central in a game.
Rogers also noted that he has discussed this scenario with Suarez months ago and they are in agreement. No need to sack Brendon yet.

cozinoz

Daily mirror says it all they get there info of twitter we now have option of 433 4411 3431

mayhem 1981

3431 - isnt that cheatin? lol

Ha, you never guess - I tried this number 433 4411 3431 and it was David Villa's mobile - he told me that he'll be parachuted in for the Utd. and will play centrally on top of Sturridge's shoulders.

Press the wrong number the vultures with no name are onto it damn them ha

For me the perfect January window -

In -

Jeffren (Loan Option to buy)
Eriksen (Highly unlikely, maybe in summer should we hit ECL)

Out -

Cole
Shelvey (Loan, if we bring in a decent AM)

Keep Shelvey, get rid of Downing and bring in another attacking winger.

FowlerGod.

Im certain that eriksen will join spurs in the summer!

Hi eds. Thank you guys for keeping us pool supporters updated. I must confess something.

I would like 2 start it with a post Macca wrote 29th of december 2012.

I must say i loved his post about that we all supporters have to stand behind our manager and team both in good time and bad times. It take time to create a stable team form, play tactics and team morale that works for the squad his got right now. So far it has been a rollercoster ride, but i my self think BR is the right man for taking Pool up withe the big dogs yet again and yet again win the premier league. Have seen lots of positive thing wit BR as manager. Pool is much better at the attacking style, more chances is created in front of the goal and lots of youngsters like sterling, suso, wisdom and robinson has be taking good care of their chances on the first time and showed us they could handle the pressure in premiership. I also think the owners would use time to create a steady economic for the club, create more income and less losses.

Remember a lot of other mangager needed time, just remember fergie almost got sacked, wenger almost got sacked, jorgen klopp almost got sacked they all done it won the the league tittle after getting time to create something. So remember this Rome didn't take one day to build up. Let us all fellow reds show that we support and back up our club, manager, players and have faith in our club one day would be right up their and winning premierships tittle again.

Here here!!

So Arsenal were thinking of sacking Wenger?
Was this before he won the league and FA cup double in his first full season?

Ridiculous

"ridiculous". Wow he got one wrong, let's dismiss his entire post on one technicality. Try to read the post as it was meant to be read, not try to throw it out because you're too miserable to actually take note on the bleedin' thing.

He got one wrong - Wenger
One which occurred about 23 years ago -Fergie
And one which occurred in a different country- Klopp

He failed to mention any of the more recent cases of managers getting it right straight away and not needing time i.e. Mourinho, Ancelloti. {Ed001's Note - and all the ones that get it right quickly leave a long term mess behind them.}

Spot on Ed001, couldn't agree more mate. If anyone has a minute, I'd recommend a cursory look at how Mourinho's teams have fared since his departure. Porto, Chelsea, Inter...there is a recurring theme. There is a price for immediate success

Hi eds, love this site. Can you tell me three players liverpool are interested in - besides Ince and Sturridge - please. Thanks. {Ed052's Note - butland, jeffren, horaou}

03 Jan 2013 22:02:49
Related to our neighbors: Everton have reported a 9m pound loss this year.
Maybe that will give us a more clear advantage considering most of our reported "targets" are also linked with Everton. I mean, we already had the upper hand but this is good news.

We will post losses far greater than that my friend.

Yes we will post losses alot greater, agreed. Would it be fair to say however, we have a far greater inflow of finance however?

So childish.
You are happy when a club posts a loss, just stupid.
'People in glass houses....'!.

Even our losses are GREATER than the neighbours :)

03 Jan 2013 22:01:08
Hey Eds love the site....

David Villa and Sneijder rumours gaining momentum, especially the latter one.

Its been said that we can use Sahin to reloan him to Inter Milan and we get Sneijder.

Is that even possible?

No, Sahin can only come to agreements between his parent club and any interested. Sneijder will not be coming, I'm afraid he's out our league without Champions League.

Anfield Andy

It happended to us didnt it when we loaned a player out and the club then loaned him out. Just cant think of who :-)

Pacheco to Athletico de Madrid who lent him on to Rayo Vallecano.

It was pacheco i think m8!

if you really want a player from spain just put a tempting offer in we should buy all players from spain this summer any decent offer would have a club having to accept it there finances are terrible.

03 Jan 2013 21:57:19
by we do over pay for players dont we ? borini 12m and carrol 35m downing 20m henderson 16m its crazyy really how bad is that ha when yu get pato 14m isco release 16m benat 16m the spanish league is a hunting market this summer there all struglling like mad

The spanish market is the place to shop at the moment i agree

You can't just consider the transfer fee... need to understand wages, length of contract, age of player, resale etc..

Two points for you
pato plays in the italian league.
i would not give 14 quid for pato, nevermind 14 million.

red jay

Well i though enrique for 8m and suarez for 23m were all good buys.
derryred

Buyout on Isco? So what, he may not want to leave. He may demand massive dollars.
Benat would've cost about 10% of that 2 years ago. Also may not want to leave home and may well only prove to be worth 16m. As for Pato? Jesus, mate. I would tell you to actually watch the lad play, but for the life of me, i can't remember the last time he strapped on the boots for more than 11 minutes.
I agree the Spanish market is ALWAYS a good place to go, but you must be smart and very very ballsy. ie: Michu.

Hi Ed's/all,

Thought we play some great football last night great goals from Suarez & Sterling.. I think Gerrard is playing very well in that deeper role.

On the sturridge deal we all knew it was going to happen and personally I think its a great signing he's still young and has a point to prove at a top club like Liverpool hopefully he can hit the ground running. I think a front 3 of Sturridge Suarez Sterling will be great for the next half of the season and the future.

A few tough away games coming up hopefully we do well :)

Personally not really sure if we will sign anyone else in the transfer window although I hope we do as the squad is still a little thin in some areas.

Hope for a win on Sunday!

Cheers,

Manny

03 Jan 2013 21:46:25
Any interest in Deulofeu? Heard he has a release clause of $10 million. Top scorer in Spanish second league. Worth a try?

If hes playing in Spain why is his release value in US dollars ?

03 Jan 2013 22:06:04
Don't think Barca would let him go, if they did they would either a) have a buy back clause or b) we would see the Fabregas situation part 2. From what I heard se seems to be the next 'big thing' from Barca's academy with people thinking him to be the next Messi.

It wouldn't be easy at all to pry him from Barca, let alone keep him for a long period of time.

Jolly Red

I'd agree, worth a punt at around £8m, he's a great prospect, like Tello but a few years younger

Next Messi? Jesus i hate that! Lionel is still almost 10yrs from retirement!

03 Jan 2013 21:45:34
MSN home page got an interesting window telling of the EPL player who covers the most distance... well worth a look..

Interesting.. Wouldn't have thought that.

Not suprised that the stats back up Stevie.

It's funny to see other supporters wondering why their own teams players have not got top position. HOW ARE THEY GOING TO DO THAT WHEN STEVIE G HAS RUN THE FURTHEST!? seriously, these are football people...!

03 Jan 2013 21:42:33
Anyone fancy BR having a look at Diego Perotti , just an idea guy . Sevilla supposed to be hard up for cash.

Scooby

Poor Sevilla always struggle for cash. Diego Capel left for a steal last season. Perotti will never be in favour there either. but he's a major whinger and just puts in when it suits him. Would be worse than Downing for consistency at the end of the day. Forget about their other wingers too. Reyes loves being home again and Navas will just never leave.

Coates is going to Villa for the rest of the season, and alex pearce is on his way from Reading, back up player in on lower wages.
we wont be signing Ashley Williams, but the Swansea player we are waiting for is Neil Taylor to return to fitness and form with a possible move in the summer

03 Jan 2013 21:37:59
Pato has left for 14 million, to think we payed 35 million for Carroll and 12 million for Borini.

03 Jan 2013 22:52:46
Pato is rubbish. What's he ever done??

Borini will prove worth it. Pato is useless and injury prone. Stop basing your wants on FIFA.

Its because of fifa and fm! after watching him a few times i'm not impressed!

i hope we get ballotelli as he had a bust up with mancini, that would be the best strike force suarez and ballotelli tempers and the way they both play amazing.

We really are a team that just tries to pick up the top teams scraps when they are done with them.....rejects like sturridge, if they aren't good enough for chelsea city united and arsenal why are they good enough for us. we are a laughing stock

So you think by us paying Ballotelli's huge wage, and for him to massively disrupt our squad would be beneficial to us? In what way would he help our team, wich is by the way growing in confidence an playing well, LFC dont want or need pri-maddona's like him. EVER..

rumours have started that andy carrol loan could be cancelled by westham . westham are interested in bring in remy or Chamakh . if one of these deals happen expect liverpool to try and of load AC to newcastle for 17m as a replacement for demba ba

I don't know a lot of Carroll's contract but I think only we have the option to recall him. And Allardyce was just talking about how they're looking forward to his return in three weeks. Why would they get rid of a player who perfectly fits their "skip the midfield" philosophy lol

If that were so hes still injured would they or any other team take that gamble hed be with us till the summer might aswell use him then sell unless proves his worth only negative is if they cancel he stays and leads to no more spending from us as we have his wages to pay

Internet reports saying quaresma has been offered to us. I for one would love to see him sign, maybe on a 18month contract and see what happens with him. Has the same ability IMO as Suarez but his attitude has to be brought in to question. If Rodgers can get a tune out of this guy then we would have a serious player on our hands! Everyone seems to be dead against him at the moment so might feel he has a point to prove.
Matt29

The cranky, disruptive and lazy t**t is being offered to everybody! know why? because he's done. Done before he even got started!

Pay as you play only deal for me... I'd give him lunch and pay for hotel expenses as well, but he'd have to pay for his own films and any internet he uses when in the hotel.

03 Jan 2013 21:20:04
Eds, fellow reds , Do you think Vargas would be worth taking .

He's got fitness problems, last thing we need. We need players ready to make an impact.

Yes carroll back due to injury

Not a rumour and not sure if it's common knowledge but Adam Morgan has gone to Rotherham on a months loan. It's all over his twitter timeline. Sorry if it's old news!

03 Jan 2013 20:59:04
sturridge is a good signing undoubtedly.. he will score goals... any chance of more attackers signed during this window.. i can see in two years time we ll have a very strong side with the player we have and are continuing to sign starting to flourish. but i m thinking more in immediate terms here wondering if we have any links to players who could improve the rest of our season in the here and now.. ince i know but surelt he s another for the future whilst adding a little to the here and now. is there anyone else on our radar who could make an impact on the first 11 like sturridge can be it via loan or a long term deal?

gameiro i have heard mentioned as a possible loan move. i think we need someone like this in addition to sturridge to add more experienced firepower to the frontline which still has only suarez and sturridge really as [roven goal getters. downing adds a few possibly but i think we still need more proven abilty up top and was wondering if the eds or Macca or anyone knows of anything that is potentially being lined up for us

thanks tom1975

03 Jan 2013 20:40:33
Eds, which reserve / youth team players have the potential to break into the first team in the next couple of years? Do you think Coady and Flanagan have a future at Liverpool? Would love to see Robinson given some games next season! {Ed052's Note - they both do, although not as much as others, e.g Sinclair, Ibe, Smith etc}

I like Sama, Robbo and Sinclair. To be honest, i'm not entirely convinced by Flanno... I hope i'm wrong, but he seems to have stalled.

any idea on whether we are getting a playmaker this window- along the likes of a honda, erikson, benat? think we need one

Pretty sure rodgers said this was a top target for summer window in a recent interview

It wont be eriksen

03 Jan 2013 20:28:10
If you could choose one of the below who would you pick.

D. Mertens.
W. Sneijder.
K. Honda.
D. Perotti.
S. Defour.
E. Banega.
A. Turan.
C. Eriksen.

Jonesred.

Not sure but rodgers said he will be in the market for a topclass no 10 in summer so i think many of these guys will be on the radar

mertens for me at the moment but maybe not come summer

tom1975

For me C. Eriksen always been a massive fan!

Rk

For me, Sneijder all day long, exactly what we need, can play across the entire midfield. Would be perfect just behind Luis, he knows the style of play BR is introducing and speaks perfect English.

Wages could be an issue but, my fingers are crossed although I am not holding my breath!

A Turan, because its his dream to play for liverpool

03 Jan 2013 21:14:33
Jonesred mate no player from above will solve our problems we need strikers like:-

Higuain- possible to get him madrid are desperate to sell him but not a lot of teams need striker and will demand wages 120-130k aweek same like suarez and his one of the best finishers you will see at the sametime his only 24-25. He and Suarez can tear any team in the world and can bring champions league footy back to anfield single handedly

Remy-possible to get him fantastic player have got everything you need in striker and will demand wages 80-100k aweek

Falcao-impossible to get him but will solve our problems and again single handedly get us top4 with suarez

Benzema-like falcao impossible to get him but he and suarez can bring champions league footy

Soldado-possible to get him

Ledowaski(sry for spelling)-possible to get him he and suarez can bring champions league footy and will demand wages 90-120k aweek

V persie-impossible to get him he and suarez single handedly could get us champions league footy

Any of them would not only excite fans but will even get our players firing in all cylinders and bring champions league footy back to anfield. from above

Higuain and
Ledowaski would be my choice and are gettable.

E banega real talent would blend nice with Lucas, not so good with parked cars though, but would like to see him in red
Paisley's genius

I think if we sign Gameiro this January we won't be signing another striker.

We would then have Suarez, Borini, Sturridge and Gameiro. So I think a quality number 10 (ATM) and/or a quality wide player.

There is some players out there I'd love ( just like everyone one of us).

Mine would be if I had to pick one now and one summer.

D. Martens. Summer.
W. Sneijder. January.

D. Metres

Dont know if Im right to say this but I feel the statements from Rogers and Gerard regarding Sturidge were not exactly the right things to be said to player of Sturidge's caliber.

Granted the press may have quoted them out of context but it just doesnt feel right to me. I mean how can Rodgers say this is his last chance at a top club followed by Gerard saying he has no reason not to succeed as though they were talking to some hopeless little lad. This is Sturidge we are talking about, an England international with CL and FA cup winners medal and experience.

Ed what do u feel? This can only lead to resentment or pressure on the lad.

After all these negative chats about Sturidge being selfish, arrogant greedy and all that, I expected them to have extolled his virtues by making mention of his pace, technical ability and hunger to succeed as opposed to what was said.

This is bad man management and needs to be rectified. It just portrays us as arrogant with a larger than life opinion of ourselves.

Abroad Red.

Last chance, he was talking about joe cole.

I think you have misread or have been mislead.

K79

I understand your point about the full backs but the team have spent 6 months trying to learn this new way of playing. If we then change it round then the players will all need to adjust again. Then if we do start knocking all these goals in we would be changing again.
The system is slowly coming together, the football is a lot better than the
start of the season we just need to stick to our guns and bring in the right players.

MIKEY

I think you have been reading between the lines a bit too much.

I thought it was unusual to say such remarks as soon has he as signed also?

What a pile of nonsense!

MR EM

I have to admit to being underwhelmed by Sturridge signing (being honest apathy was an understatement) but there things that are positive about him, he is a big lad and has a physical presence, is quick and mobile and he also has skill and can finish (see his back heeled goal against Sunderland for the chavs). Is he arrogant? Possibly , but is that a bad thing for a striker? Maybe not I would contend. Is he selfish? Possibly, but then good strikers need that selfish streak.
If he adds pace and skill and goals then that's all we can ask. Lets face it, he can't do any worse than the last player we got from the chavs...

Being underwhelmed by sturridge is a good thing....

look at our last striker 35 million and massively flopped , at leats sturridge can only do better than what people expect of him which appears to be not much

he has chosen his bolton number hopefully he ll be in that bolton vein of form when he starts

a brace against united on his debut would do no harm either

Hi there eds and fellow reds:

Its been a while since I last posted but since transfer window is open and we have already made amends for dempsey am pretty pleased with the first piece of business we have done in the new year.

When I was going through the table one thing struck me which was very unusual for Liverpoolfc, a lot of the goals conceded especially at home. I do understand that the long ball game is of the past but that system ensured that the middle of the park would always be congested, but with possession based football it ensures that both the full backs are drawn out of position leaving the CD's exposed unnecessarily.

The reason I bought up the point was we arent really scoring that many goals so it makes no sense to have both our full backs in attacking positions, a solid back 3 will ensure at least 25% less goals conceded in comparison to our current situation.

Also has anyone noticed how tame Gerrards corners have been so far this season, they surely must get someone else to take it as we have a pretty decent ariel power.

Finally would like to put my final 2 cents on the table for now, but we really and genuinely need a play maker, I feel that's the missing piece in the jigsaw. The reason I am putting this out there is because in the season thus far we have looked good in almost 80% of the matches played, the only thing preventing us from getting all 3 points was just a flash of brilliance. Dare I say it we need someone like King Luis to provide that moment of magic, it may be nostalgia but that Juve goal of 2005 was simply breath taking.

Cheers
Ani

I understand your point about the full backs but the team have spent 6 months trying to learn this new way of playing. If we then change it round then the players will all need to adjust again. Then if we do start knocking all these goals in we would be changing again.
The system is slowly coming together, the football is a lot better than the start of the season we just need to stick to our guns and bring in the right players.

MIKEY

Firstly, the long ball game is well and truly alive and kicking as Stevie G's ball to Suarez demonstrated and secondly, we have a perfectly good play maker in Nuri Sahin !! Beardsley's Boot's

Since we have been supposedly playing a short-passing game, I've been surprised how often we play a long ball and BR is obviously quite happy with it occasionally. Stevie Gs pass to Luis is an example but there were a number of long passes against Sunderland and previous games.

Zaha would prefer a January move to arsenal, however man united are offering to loan the player back until the end p the season. If zaha gets what he wants he will be moving to arsenal this transfer window.

It appears holtby will be joining spurs in the summer

As for David villa....word is that arsenal have bid 13mil for his services and as a result negotiations for Lopez are on hold

just a note regarding nuri sahin

we know he was 21 yr old captain of dortmund, player of the year.so we know nthat he possesses quality. we know he has leadershio abilities.

when he played scored 3 and assisted 2 in three to four games earlier in the season madrid immediately popped up with 18 million long term price.

is it possible that rodgers is being coy with sahin playing him internittedly so that he never reaches world beating form this season(a season which was always going to be a building exercise anyway) so that we can get him for a knockdown 8-12 million price in the summer?

just something i have been wondering about. i dont think sahin has performed any worse than any of our other mids when called upon and he has done so whilst coming back from a long term injury and adjusting to a new league and teammates etc

tom1975

I think Rodgers would rather build him up, develop him and make him a better player and pay 18m for him. than hold back his development and buy him for 12m.
I don't think Rodgers thinks sahin is suitable. I know he has been injured recently but it just looks like it hasn't worked out.

MIKEY

Lets hope your right Tom, i'm a big fan of Nuri Sahin and like you, would like to think Brendan Rodgers intention is to sign him permanently. He's just the type of player we need to compete with the best and as you rightly point out, he's still only young !! Beardsley's Boot's

Do you think ?

not sure he would want to pay the 18 million when we also have other positions to fill in the summer with an attacking midfielder top target in the summer

i was just wondering because if sahin did play really well 18 million might not even be enough.... i m hoping thats what he is doing anyway

tom1975

I dont see any sense in making sure Sahin doesn't achieve top form while he plays for Liverpool.

All ive been hearing for the past 2 days is Man U and Chelsea fans calling us average and Sturridge has found rightful club at a mid table team etc etc.

I look on the Chelsea site and its generally the same thing! I was going to react on their site but its not worth it!

All I will say is that I hope that we all start to stick together as LFC fans!

I even more hope that LFC and Sturridge prove all these doubters wrong and climb the PL table!

United Kolours Of Bennetton

We don't have the financial resources of Chelsea, or the strike force or favoritism of United. So I would ignore their smug comments for now.

Sturridge is a good buy, we are now just short another quality striker, a goalscoring midfielder and another top defender and our squad will not be far behind either of them. Doubt we will be getting any of Uniteds refs to sign for us though.

Digby

I think Sturridge is better than Welbeck who the mancs cream their pants over and Chelsea fans are generally a bit like Tim Lovejoy , so their opinions are fairly unimportant, the only thing that matters is Sturridge getting the chance to prove his doubters wrong (and I include myself in that) by scoring goals. And let's be fair, he never got the chance at Chelsea.

Hi Ed's with savilla's president saying they have to sell "a couple" of there big players to balance the books, is Diago perotti an option? Seen him a few times, his first touch an acceleration is top quality! {Ed052's Note - he was 18 months ago but not now I wouldn't believe}

If it was on his performances alone, suarez would be a cert for footballers player of the year, but because of other factors i will be very surprised if he gets it.After all the abuse he gets from away fans it would be amazing for him to be recognised this way

Your quite right but the media normally decide who will win the award and the case for RVP has alreay been established

Ahoy - some very interesting posts recently, about some very important issues.

However I am so far thoroughly impressed with Daniel Sturridge, anyone who turns up to sign his contract wearing a wonderful brown crochet knit, and then uses the word "Humongous" in his first interview is straight into my top 10 Daniels of all time to play for LFC.

I hope he continues his great choice of words in the near future including the words "gargantuan" and "colossal" whilst sporting some jaunty knitwear.

He has a great future.

Hi Ed would it make more sense to play Sahin in the position he want to play in and see what happen like in this weekend FA cup third round.
It would save us money and if it works out it be a win win situation right ED ? What do you think..... {Ed002's Note - Makes no sense to me. Sorry.}

Good luck Morgan lad.
Still think you should have been loaned out to a team higher than league 2 but it will be a good experience for you.

FowlerGod.

With him being 18 many clubs higher than league 2 may be reluctant to play him week in week out. Playing in league 2 means he'll get games weekly, gain some game time experience rather than a bench warmer.

Was just sitting here thinking to myself that we have a good chance of finishing 4th but was also thinking we don't have a good chance of finishing 4th. Who knows
I asked the mrs who knows nothing about football and she said its close call maybe 50% chance of doing neither!
I sent her back to the kitchen

Is right fella! Time she brewed up & tell not to forget the hobnobs!

Maybe she thinks we will finish higher than 4th, but worded it incorrectly...

Piledriver

I know we have to play them all anyway but forgetting the fa cup game, just look at all our upcoming fixtures, especially the away ones, if we can come through these in decent shape then i do think 4th is realistic but we cant afford to lose against the Villas this season at home and expect to finish 4th!

Mixing up short and long passes.long range shots and creative chance making.Drive, conviction, work rate, tracking back, getting stuck in.BLend correct-KEEP IT UP!

Totally agree, I posted after the Stoke game that I felt we needed to mix are play up as teams were happy to sit back and pack the box denying space to break them done. Last night we played some fantastic passing football but Gerrard and skrtle also played some long passes as well which caught Sunderland out on several occasions. Good to see the side progressing well.

Why do people keep saying "Oh well, we're gonna save 200k on Cole and Sahin's wages, so we can go out and buy player X"?

We're trying to move away from the financial meltdown we found ourselves in. The owners are probably thinking, "thank we're saving that 200k, that's a little more progression on our financial plan".

It's like cutting your monthly mortgage payments down by a few hundred quid and then spending what you saved buying a car on HP. Madness. Business doesn't work like that.

JimmyHustle

I guess the difference is if you get good use from your spending as apposed to what we are currently getting from Sahin and Cole. That is not meant as a go at either, just that we are paying high wages to both and neither are playing regularly. If we reduce the wages by 200k and then spend 50k a week on someone who plays, we are saving 150k a week and getting someone who is playing.

Andy K

Hey Andy,

Nice post - I agree with it. I hope we start getting value for money with our future buys. I imagine Joe Cole was shaking signing the contract with us from pure excitement.

Rotherhams's manager on signing Adam Morgan on loan:
Boss Steve Evans revealed he has been after his man since the summer and is grateful to Liverpool for allowing Morgan to drop to the bottom tier.
"He is somebody who has been sought after many times buy many clubs, but Liverpool have kept him in house, " Evans said.
"He has played in their first team and he has got a great goal record. He is someone I have admired and it's fair to say their manager will want to delete my number because I have been barraging him since early December.
"I've had a conversation with Brendan Rodgers and I've told him how grateful I am that he has allowed him to come and play at this level, because the level we play at was their concern.
"To be fair everything has played a part, our stadium, our attendance, our results and I have just kept asking. I have seen him seven or eight times and we have watched him closely since I tried to get him in the summer."

Even if it is for 5 weeks, get some experience and come back a better player Adam, good luck!

I remember all this positivity last season and season before when we beat a bottom of the league team and thought things were rosey then the week after we lose again and cry for a new manager, but suddenly we win again, oooh it was just a blip for sure we are definitely back and going to win the league and sign top players and then we go and lose again, we are never gettin back to greatness, we are mid table club now.....the reason i write this is because im so annoyed of every one goin ott when we win and same when we lose, accept where we are, celebrate a win but remember its only 3 points and anyone can get them on the day

What annoys me about you Mr nameless poster is that you are all too quick to declare LFC a midtable team. Supporting a team is about celebrating hope, most people buy a lottery ticket based on that premise. You my friend might as well give up on football, it's not for you.

dd

Mr optimistic cheer up

I see what you mean, until we show consistency we wont get anywhere, so theres no point getting carried away until that happens. However we are showing signs of improvement, have signed a striker that will potentially grab us more goals and points. Downing and henderson are showing form, gerrard as well and suarez is unstoppable, there seems to be more confidence and energy around the team at the moment. Old trafford away next in the league... Turning point? Doubt it but we just need to kick on keep getting them points lets hope we can do that jdog

03 Jan 2013 18:29:21
Adam Morgan is going to be loaned to Rotherham, surely we could send him to a league higher than league 2?

Toughen him up I'd say, nothing like a good few kicks to spur the lad on and realise he has to continue his work at LFC and not fall down to that level ever

Happy new year all
I think Sturidge is a great signing, he is what is missing up front, BUT, yes that's a big but! I think we need someone in mid field to get some goals, a strong attacking midfielder , Shelvey is ideal for this , strong with , I believe an eye for goal , if encouraged, not scared to run at defences and should be encouraged to do so.
But he is still learning, get someone in who can run from midfield and score goals, we need a little bit more maturity in the team IMO, another face the younger ones can learn from.
Ok had my say.

LOL Ed

RH signed JC!

FACT! {Ed002's Note - Actually no, the agreement for the transfer of Joe Cole was made when Roy Hodgson was manager but the initial approach pre-dated his arrival and negotiation did not involve him at all.}

I believe that Christian Purslow took the credit for the purchase of Cole.

If you want to blame anyone, blame Christian Purslow, who was playing real life Football Manager at the time. He even tried to sell Lucas Leiva.

Don't mean to sound disrespectful but all this talk of sahin, s loan being cut short.is a credit to Jordan Henderson .he is keeping sahin out the team

03 Jan 2013 18:48:59
Mate the problem with sahin is not only lack of playing time but more then that

1)He is not happy with manager

2)He is not happy the way he is been treated by Rodgers

3)He is not happy the way Rodgers uses him

4)He wants to play depeer or holding midfield but Rodgers refuses and prefers lucas or Allen in that role

5)He is creating some problems and has started voicing his opinion in media which is not good for club reputation neither clubs image

6)He has got some offers from other clubs and wants to leave as soon as possible or should I say his head is turned but the problem is his on 100+k aweek. Terminating his contract will coast the club to pay his wages for whole year which we had agreed as madrid have refused to take him back or pay his wages for a year but the club are looking at various options to terminate his contract. Maybe the club can escape if other clubs who wants him agree to pay him the remaining of wages which we agreed and sign him on loan.

When he had to go off with a bleeding nose and could not play on , I knew we were in trouble with him

Points 1), 2) and 3) are essentially the same

03 Jan 2013 17:29:08
I have not been paying much attention to this site after matches due to the abuse players got last year but i hope Hendo is not getting abuse still because he has been outstanding for us whenever he has played. Been really impressed how much more confident he is like when he hit that volley form 35 yards out. That would not of happened last year. Keep it going Hendo

Deffo mate. I for one would be dissapointed if he was to move on. Still young and hopefully can reach his full potential. Unsung hero in the Sunderland match and he is always shouting for the ball and making runs.

Maybe I would like to see him in a red shirt, for me when i look at the photos its Mancini who grabs hold of him, not the other way round, no smoke without fire. Yes he is problematic but I think LFC management could channel his aggression and get him playing football and scoring goals again.

I cant speak for those who did, but those of us who didnt, still dont. And furthermore, My girlfriend who neither did nor didnt, because she didnt know who he was, now is still of the same opinion as she still doesnt know who he is.

Everybody's raving about Gerrard's assist for the third goal against Sunderland last night.
Did anyone else notice there were three players involved in the goal? It's not all about the pass, good and all as it was. Henderson made a great run right to left, taking his marker with him and providing the space for the ball to be played into. Making this space meant the pass didn't have to be pin-point accurate as Suarez had more space to run into ... not belittling Gerrard's involvement, just highlighting that it was a team goal.

Digger

Well said Digger!
NAVANRED

Intelligent runs are so important. Barca will be doing it all the time. It creates space and goal scoring oppurtunities. Hopefully we will see it more often

I thought it was downing who made that run
Huddz red

Also downing making run to also create space

I thought it was henderson to but i think that it was actually downing. Take nothing away though both played well. The movement is equally important to the passing hence why it is called pass and move. Once we get the midfielders and forwards movement more consistent then we will be challenging.
derryred

Excellent point and also what borini was starting to excell at, before he was injured.
Davey liver.

It was actually downing who created the space for suarez

Just to clarify it was Downing who made that run not Henderson.

As I have said before, that type of ball is why Torres scored so many goals for Liverpool. When Suarez first joined he would probably have missed that chance but his finishing is improving all the time, pure class.

Evered

03 Jan 2013 17:50:48
Pretty sure that was Downing

You mean it was teamwork? Good good good!!

Good point , these clever runs , taking defenders away from the middle , is what helps big time , also expect Borini to make the same runs , when he comes back , hey , the 2nd half of the season will be interesting .

This is a good point.....brought out by hansen on motd last night lmao

If the Saurez goal vs Newcastle and his 2nd goal last night vs Sunderland had a baby, it would have nearly looked like the Hendo to Suarez pass, control and shoot the Mingolet saved with his legs. Just saying....

I was watching it streamed on a 10inch screen so thought it was Hendo - and I didn't get to see MOTD last night. Downing or Henderson, it dosn't matter It's great to see the pass n' move philosophy remains.

Hi Folks

Ok so it's been a while, just thought I'd chuck in my few pence....great win first of all last nite! I'm not a BR basherbecoz ultimately his hands r tied by the senior bids at the club BUT surely is anyone in agreement with me that we still require 1 if not 2 more signings in this window and I would say that's just to stay what 6th, 7th or 8th. We r like a yoyo at the moment, 1 week brill next week utterly useless, as much as it's a work in progress surely that work in progress means strengthening when appropriate? Cole and some fringe players need to go, whilst would love to see Theo (I know not gna happen) and another big signing. So many posts saying no Sneijder or Villa, that's fine becoz maybe we r dreaming and need to be real, but surely if we r gna be the real deal why not take a punt on Villa or Sneijder, if anything they can't make us worse surely and 2 or 3 seasons at best from them will surely give our youth experience from them, help us move forward and take BR and the mighty Reds closer towards what is now becoming our Holy Grail! Like I said fully in support of BR, can see what he's doing....even if it is our old mantra of pass and move...but again like every fan (whether we knock them or not) I only want what's best for OUR club! Please respond...agree or disagree! YNWA!

I understand 16m is a lot for villa when he would have little resale value, but we should just... not sell him? i think him and suarez playing in the same side would be as dangerous as any attacking line in the premier league

Mate I don't think we need another midfielder especially a player who will want wages close to 180k I think its better we should invest that kind of wages on world class striker who will help us with his goals and drive us towards champions league. We have enough midfields need striker who can score 25+goals a season.
Just imagine Suarez and a striker who can score 25+goals. That's what we need our all problems will be solved

Don't understand your negativity - the money teams have bigger players than us ( and wage bills ) - Chelsea and City - I'm amazed Utd are walking away with the league at the moment, apart from RVP, their best player has been Carrick FFS,
Look at the other teams in the mix for top 4 - every one of them would want some of our players, and tbh we would want maybe one or two from each of them to improve our squad.
We have a very young squad, be a bit more patient, and who knows it might come good.
The players we have allegedly missed out on in the last few years have certainly not been a great success at the clubs they ended up at.

Brendan rogers desire to see allen on the pitch is like a craving!

Lil Red

A 'craving' to fulfill the fundamental game-plan using the players he sees appropriate to succeed and take our club forward you mean?

Sound.

DaveyBootle

Never mind the fact that he came on and did really well.

Jim102929

Allen played great when he came on in his natural position, tool!!

Not taking away anything from the lads performance, just saying if your wining 3-0 against a jaded team or one bottom of the table, can't a young lad come on and get experience, instead of allen , it seems like rodgers had to see him on the pitch to be happy.

Lil Red

Been in Liverpool all day and not seen David Villa once!

Ed does this mean there's been a last minute hitch in the deal?

{Ed002's Note - Pepe and JonJonJo saw him earlier today and that resolved why there had been so many "sightings" yesterday. It is all perfectly clear if you visit WongerDogSparky on Twitter.}

03 Jan 2013 16:45:14
Haha I love Ed2 what a legend!

03 Jan 2013 16:13:52
Marca stating Villa is ready to go and any decent offer will see him leave.Arsenal and liverpool are favourites then a move italy.I say go for it, 10 million should get him

03 Jan 2013 16:10:36
Would like to say good luck to Adam Morgan who has gone on loan to Rotherham. Looks a decent prospect for the future and hopefully will get experience playing. Got a great attitude and is hard working.

03 Jan 2013 16:09:17
Why are Liverpool yet again paying for a player to leave when there is a lot of interesting cole (an so there should be he's class) 4m to sell cole is crazy if we put another 3m we could have brought deemba ba. So we have strengthened a prem club at our expense it's rubbish today I'm not a happy Liverpool fan same old charity Liverpool

Aren't you just a little bundle I misery, cheer up!

Ashy

What's your peeve? It's not your money anyway... Not happy?! Take it to Ayre then! Nimrod!

If you're not happy following back to back 3 0 wins then there's not much hope for you

x

Hey, you - cry baby! We're paying Cole off to save on the massive wages that we still owe him if he continues to stay on, ok? And don't me started on Ba - there's already enough talk about his dodgy knees, wage demands, refusal to play in other positions etc

03 Jan 2013 17:26:26
No, No and No.
We owe Cole from his signing on bonus, that was spread out over the length of his contract, rather than paid upfront.
We were always going to pay him that money, the only difference is that now we are not paying him 90, 000 grand a week aswell.

Demba Ba's buy out clause was for Champions league teams only, it did not apply to us and we would have had to pay far more.

Anything else?

WelshBoyDave

If he would have stayed for the rest of his contract we would have payed 7m for a player that is bit part at best so 3m freeing up 4m along with sahins second half season contract saved gives us nice leverage to sign another player i wouldnt mind someone who could give us something different pace power height mayhem 1981

The only thing I'm confused about is whether the clause is solely for Champions League clubs?
How is this the case, as Chelsea aren't in CL anymore?
Is it because they were in the competition at the start of the season maybe, or did they actually pay a bigger transfer fee and not trigger the release clause?

03 Jan 2013 16:07:27
So that's a number 9 Shirt available and a number 10 shirt available!

Two quality signings to fill those shirts and ill be a happy man.

YNWA JFT96 jns

Number 9 is in use by andy carroll and cant be taken by another player

Villa for no 9 kaka' for no 10 :)

We should put all the money together and buy a great number 19.

03 Jan 2013 15:56:05
Is it true Joe Cole has just left the West Ham training ground?
Tom

Yeh but bad news is david villa was in the passenger seat

Were they in a bmw by any chance?

03 Jan 2013 15:53:41
I'm not sit why we really want Tom ince. We have sterling assasidi downing suso and now sturridge who can play there. I think we shouldn't spend until the summer and go for a top quality playmaker like eriksen.

Because Assaidi is a little lightweight at the moment and in my opinion still a bit raw!
Sturridge will hopefully play up top where he can express his power n touch
Downing will be made available if not in Jan the summer so we can recoup some of the 20million back, he's playing well atm and his fee is rising again albeit it only small
Ince will be a terrific player, I think he can only get stronger if nutured so getting him now will benefit us going foward,

Gerrard moves into 1st place

After starring against Sunderland, Steven Gerrard has created more goals than any other player in the Barclays Premier League so far this season.

Source Liverpool.com

Some fans are saying his finished think again what your talking son.

The assist for the 3rd goal, was out of this world! What vision!

Class is permanent.

Gerrard ran the show last night... it was immense to watch!

Actually Hazard has one more assist than Gerrard

03 Jan 2013 15:52:27
Liverpool will allow Morgan to go out on loan after opening talks with Napoli over Vargas. A loan with an option to buy has been offered to both player and club. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool has not discussed anything with the player or his club. Should they wish to do so they had better move very quickly indeed.}

03 Jan 2013 15:50:36
Just out of interest would you guys sell Downing or keep him?

Agree - Sell

Disagree - Keep

Mantis.

Sell in summer

03 Jan 2013 16:35:49
Keep him! He shouldn't be a starter but he is a good squad player and we would never make our money back on him. He's not that bad a player he just doesn't contribute enough to our attack, but he's not as dire as people make out.

I don't think he is a right player for the system we are trying to play, unless played at left back.

We need goals from the wingers and clever movement, which I don't think Downing does enough of.

I would obviously keep him for now as we need him for LB occasionally and for squad depth. But I don't think he is a player for our system and I think we should cut our losses in summer.

B101

Sell now whilst he's playing well to help get a decent price for him.

Jonesred

Depends what price we could get if he carries on the way he is till summer we could gain a nice sum back and sign a left sided player with same attributes but scores goals mayhem 1981

03 Jan 2013 15:45:01
Just seen David Villa drive past my local village which is 160 miles away from Melwood. He stopped at the local Londis and bought some space invaders and a brain licker. I asked him where he was going and he winked and pointed at a Liverpool flag in his car window.
Cant argue with that.

You're lying! He's still in John Lennon airport sneaking behind passengers giving the occasional wink in approval. Everyone has seen him there!!

Apparently, he suggested that the more suspicious he looks the more convincing the transfer is.

03 Jan 2013 15:41:43
Dear Ed(s)
Brendan Rodgers has said that Sturridge would be the only bit of business we conduct this january. Having recieved several questions from other fans, you have maintained that Ince MAY still come in and other players have also been linked. Why do managers say something like that, then end up buying a player or two, EVEN THREE. Why commit, then do the complete opposite. Yes, fans expectations fall then a signing boosting morale, understood; but still does not justify it. Some say its because a good deal may come about and they take a pop but just 2 days into the window?
Please help
African redwun {Ed002's Note - I would doubt he would want to raise the expectations of the fans by saying x players will sign only to have the fans turn on him if they don't.}

Under promise, over Deliver

03 Jan 2013 15:41:36
Hi Eds,

Just a quick question - If Sturridge was signed as a first team forward for the long term, why was he not given the vacant no 9 shirt? I know sometimes player get to pick their number (i.e. in the case of Suarez) but generally a squad number is just assigned. Wouldn't this give Sturridge the implication that we see him as a more of a squad player and also does this imply that we're holding the number 9 as we expect someone else to come in for that 'position'?

Cheers {Ed002's Note - They are just shirt numbers, there are no secret messages there.}

Carroll has the no 9 shirt unless he gives it up for sturridge its still belongs to carroll unless hos move becomes permanent

03 Jan 2013 15:37:30
Hi everyone love this site!

Just a quick question, Sturridge is number 15, did he pick that number and was the number 9 shirt available to him ? I know Big Andy was our number 9 so is it still his even though he is on loan? Or does it mean we are getting another player who wants number 9?

Cheers

As an incoming youngster, would you personally want to wear the number 9 for Liverpool? I know I wouldn't- way too much in the way of expectations with that number. Not to mention it would be kinda cruel to Andy Carroll to give away his number while is on loan.

03 Jan 2013 15:30:56
I wouldn't be too worried if no one else was signed this window, we already have another striker which is great. It is now a case of salvaging this season for us, but we're not really in a position to take control of our own league position like we were at the beginning of the season. Now we have to concentrate on what were doing but also hope arsenal, spurs, Chelsea, WBA and Everton falter...I'd rather wait until the summer, and spend any spare money we have then. We have the quality to compete just not the attitude, which means no amount of new players would bring us top four unless we resolved the inconsisency Obviously if we had the opportunity to get someone who would make a serious impact then we should go for it, but we shouldn't be buying players for the sake of it

03 Jan 2013 15:29:07
would anyone swop agger for dzeko and promote seb to starting line up if poss .

Not on those wages

I know I wouldn't.

03 Jan 2013 17:27:11
After needs to hit the gym! He is too easily pushed off the ball. Eat more spuds young man!

03 Jan 2013 15:16:26
We could have just gone for ba..cheaper, scores more goals and stop with the bad knee crap!!how the hell did he pass chelsea medical

Demba ba is shocking unless he plays a central striker role, would you really push suarez wide just for him? thought not!

JOZLFC

Can we afford to be without him for the African nations as hes Senegalese? also his age and wages are a problem no sell on value {Ed002's Note - He won't be going to ACON.}

Except we aren't in CL, so couldn't have got him for the 7 mil. Personally I rate Sturridge as a better player anyway.

Nick

Its not crap you mug. 7million to Chelsea is obviously worth taking the risk. Im pretty sure the scans would show up all the bad parts of his knees and they could end his career tomorrow for all Chelsea know. Do they care? Probably not!

Cudge

Everything Newcastle do goes through Demba Ba hence he scores goals that wont be the case with Chelsea. Just watch he will be a flop!

Ba will end up costing more than sturridge his agent fees are 5+ million hes on huge wages and has a career ending knee injury which could strike any minute

He is also not as versatile and is in his late 20s

Sturridge has 36 goals in 60 starts in his career not bad

Liverpool paid for the Ba tranfer

Hi guys, Glasgow rangers supporter here, just wanted to say respect to all the liverpool fans for having a minutes applause for the 96 and the 66 who didn't manage to get home from their games..
Shanks was right, Its much more important than a game of football!
Respect!

03 Jan 2013 13:52:56
Hi Ed002,
what I like about this club is that lots of young players play or start to play important roles on the field, just to mention Sterling, Flanagan, Wisdom, Robinson, Shelvey, Borini, Kelly, Allen, Henderson, Sturridge. Suarez is not much older. Great to see this club going into this direction!

03 Jan 2013 14:42:14
i notice the number 9 shirt is still available - are there any plans to sign a big name striker January/Summer to fill this space? I was surprised Sturridge did not go for it. Thanks. Im sure this time of year is busier than xmas for you guys. appreciate all the good work you do.

Maybe they cant give carrolls number up till he is officially gone.Tommy Irish Red

Number 6 & 10 are also avaliable, doesn't mean we will sign anyone to fill them

03 Jan 2013 14:40:39
Back to reality, good to see the team working for one another last night, watched the last 15 mins of newc-toffees last night and am 1 grateful the football we get, I mean roughly 20+ shots a game and also the commitment all running on empty but still running! Respect is a big thing at anfield, unlike a lot of mercenary clubs

03 Jan 2013 14:40:21
Hi eds
will sturridge be in the squad for sundays fa cup game against mansfield.
Scousered {Ed052's Note - im sure he will be yep}

That's if, there is a game to play. Weather not looking good. Fingers crossed though. YNWA

Looks like Sturridge will make his debut at United now

03 Jan 2013 14:36:46
hiya eds not a rumour but cavani has told his club he wants to leave in the summer if we get champions league football do you think the americans might stump up the cash to sign him {Ed052's Note - no, but im sure the Uruguayan FA will so him and Suarez can play more together

03 Jan 2013 14:30:38
Hi eds,

Just wondering if there is any players being lined up for our youth academy that you may know about like, will hughes, that scandanavian striker begins with P, and zidanes boy?

Just wondering because our acadamey signings always excite me. We've got some realy good deals the past few windows like yesil, texeria, nacho ect.

Thanks in advance.

Matt from poole. {Ed052's Note - I dont know of any at the minute. W Hughes and possibly Mason Bennett could be targets for the summer however}

03 Jan 2013 14:26:27
First of all just like to say what a great site this is. Ive got a question about Andy Carrols loan move to West Ham. Do West Ham have to buy him if they stay up or is it just an option they have? Because on current form 17m seems way too much for him. {Ed052's Note - they dont have to no}

03 Jan 2013 14:26:24
Hi Guys,

I am happy with the squad as it is. We now need to get 4th spot with this group of players, what annoys me is that the sturridge deal should have been done and dusted in the summer then we may be higher in the table... Lets get behind the team as it is, get 4th spot then attract the top players in the summer transfer window when prices are a bit more stable. Liverpool FC have saved a fortune in wages in the last 6 months, lets pray FSG releases some funds in the summer.

Come on you reds!! get behind your team.

Tomsy YNWA

Except Chelski wanted £20m in the summer whereas we paid around £12m now, good business if you ask me saved ourselves £8m in 4 months and nobody complaining we have paid too much etc.....

CoolhandLFC {Ed002's Note - There was no price given in the summer as Liverpool asked about a loan.}

03 Jan 2013 14:25:40
Hi eds, just wondering if liverpool or even anyone is looking at Manucho of real valladolid
ive seen him on numerous occasions including seeing singlehandedly put 2 past real madrid.
Your thoughts please? {Ed052's Note - we've not looked at him recently}

03 Jan 2013 14:17:37
Time have come for Rodgers to except his mistake and let Sahin go. Things are getting worst behind the scenes as player is spouting on media saying he is not happy at liverpool and wants to leave it seems the problem is more then just playing.
At the sametime he is on 100+k aweek and still throwing tantrums which is shocking.

Ur really making it sound a lot worse than it is

He just had nose surgery so is obvs going to be at the back of the queue when it comes to selection

03 Jan 2013 14:16:21
a LB is actively being sought. shennikov been mentioned. apart from that no more signings. all done unless players leave. possible exits are e.g. downing, coates, hendo, sahin. similarily if someone does come in expect a likewise exit, eg ince - downing.

should no one leave ince will wait till the summer. the major squad turnover and changes will happen in the summer window.

Agreed... I'll be holding all the eds responsible when I fail my January test.

Only if it was a test on Liverpool and the clubs interest in players ed02 would get us an A* {Ed052's Note- perhaps they should invent a gcse of Liverpool rumour Eds. For 5 marks, what colour hair does Ed002's favourite James Bond Ed have?}

03 Jan 2013 17:33:36
Ed002's a Sean Connery Guy, IMO.

Alonso would be a real coup for BR but a left back is vital as are 3 points against man utd also van persie is a hot head if dagger has a go at him it could get interesting .YNWA

dannybhoy

03 Jan 2013 15:03:48
Mate forget Alonso Rodgers doesn't want deeper lying midfielders that's the exact problem with sahin. Allen is Rodgers choice to play that role if needed. Rodgers wants AM that's the reason why Henderson is playing and Allen is dropped. If deep lying player is needed then Allen is going to be his choice

03 Jan 2013 13:49:10
hi eds said it once il say it again love the site. im putting my neck on the line here when i quote this as i thinks its rubbish but thought maybe someone eles has come across what iv just seen online and through word. rumor has it lfc have launched a 9.5m bid for wesley Sneijder. i dont think this has happend if honest. as why would lfc even think about the wage demands for him. is he worth it? do we even need the guy? i say this as we have created the second emount off chances in the prem so obviously creating chances isnt a problem for us its the ball hitting the net at times. also im well confused with us paying joe cole 4m to leave it makes no sence to me why wouldnt we just keep him. it just dont make any sence {Ed052's Note - its about a week old fake rumour mate}

03 Jan 2013 13:26:59
Obviously these david villa posts are fake! you honestly expect us to believe reina, villa, 4 midgets with briefcases and sneijder can fit in a bmw? jokers!

03 Jan 2013 13:23:58
Im actually a huge fan of coates...
Didnt he get young player of the tournament at copa america? isnt he a regular in the much rated uruguay team?
When i hear people say he's not quick enough for the PL, i do chuckle and think, carra made a pretty good career without any pace.
Benny baller

Whenever I've seen him play he's always made a mistake, whether that's giving away a penalty, back pass going for a corner, being dispossessed, etc...
I'm not saying I want him to leave but the amount we supposedly payed for him he should be doing better.
I noticed he wasn't even in the squad yesterday which makes me think he will leave.

dmedly

You cant just put him in for 1 game in 15 and not expect him to make a mistake? thats foolery.
Lad needs consitancy, now carra got his landmark of appearance, Seb should be getting the 15 minute cameos at the end, and work him into it.
Benny baller

How far is Carra from his 500? I thought one of the commentators mentioned that this was his next 'target' for appearances.

03 Jan 2013 13:17:19
news is once sahin as been got rid of this month we will be allowed 2 loan signings 1 being Jeffren and the other will be Gameiro with a view to buy at end of loan .
with the form of downing and henderson over the last few weeks that will put a end to buying ince or any other midfielders and the only other transfer in could be butland leaving him at brum for rest of season and Pacheco to stay in prem on loan to villa or norwich

If that's true sooner he goes the better

03 Jan 2013 13:15:27
Pleased we have secured Sturridge I think Rodgers will get the best out of him. What is the state of play with his injury though? when will he be available for selection?

Thanks {Ed052's Note - hes not injured}

03 Jan 2013 13:12:36
eds

what do you think will happen to carroll, i know he wont be coming back but do you think we will be able to recuperate some of the money we spent on him? and do west ham have an option to buy him at the end of the season? {Ed052's Note - of course we will recoup money. They do, for £17m}

03 Jan 2013 13:03:17
Hi eds
I know every day a new rumour/news lands upon us and everyone runs with it. My question is regarding Sahin. Are l'pool looking to end his loan or is it just another rumour? It does seem a bit strange. {Ed002's Note - This has been done to death.}

03 Jan 2013 13:00:01
I was in the urinals at John Lennon this morning as per usual and who should be standing on my right but Wesley Sneijder. A couple of minutes later and blow me who should appear on my left but David Villa. They were jabbering away for ages in what was probably Spanish, because I don't think Villa could be arsed to learn Dutch, but the lavatory attendant (who was from Malaga) said it was all about Liverpool contracts. Last I saw of them they were helping a large, elderly man to carry a rucksack full of cheeseburgers onto a plane bound for Las Vegas. Anyway, my advice to Brendan would be to avoid signing anyone with such obvious prostate problems.

03 Jan 2013 12:58:37
There is only 1 deal BR wants & that is sending Sahin back & bringing in Alonso.. If this happens he is happy with fowards & Borini is due back.. Ince won't sign as he could be 5th choice! Downing & Hendo have proved they deserve at least till the summer all in all things are looking good 4 the reds.

03 Jan 2013 12:50:54
Great performance last night, I was at Anfield and it was a bit quiet but everyone seemed more hopeful. We dominated after going 2-0 up, that's what happens when we take our chances and don't mess about. Should be doing that every week, very professional performance. Looking forward to seeing Sturridge join this attack but he won't get a game if Downing and Sterling keep up this form.

On a similar note, does anyone know when Borini will be back?

Red Ollie

Borini will return to light training next week.

The real AG

Sturridge on form would be better than downing or sterling..

Is there honestly anyone in better form than suarez right now?

Van persie? lionel messi?

Robin Van Persie.
Lionel Messi.
But that's about it..

Ronaldo, messi, van persie, aguero, hernandez ....

Look at what suarez has got to play with, messi ect are surrounded by quality

Current form...no
FowlerisGod

Suarez has 1 less goal than van persie and none of them penalties like rvp plus he had a goal disallowed v everton

Hernandez is not better than Suarez. I'm personally a bit fan of him and would live him alongside luis but definitely not instead of. {Ed052's Note - howanyone can sayRVP is better then SSuarez I have no clue. And thats not even being bias}

Joe Allen (according to some)

Rvp had a goal disallowed against reading

Rvp has had les assists, dribbles, and 5x more pks.
AnfieldUSA

LUIS SUAREZ age 25, games 309, goals 177, assists 66.

RVP age 29, games 379, goals 172, assists (N/A)

to suggest that RVP is better at 4 years older is a fair point but the stats don't suggest so. just saying...

great display last nighht from the team, gerrard was rolling back the years pinging it around like he can, suarez was doing his normal unbelievable stuff, only slight concern i had which i have had for the majority of the season, was the defence still looks a bit shakey, they got cut open couple of times and with a higher class of opposition we could of conceded...although we didnt so cant be too critical!i wasnt sold on sturridge but now he is here i think he will turn out to be a good addition to the squad, hopefully he can play sunday, get a couple of goals and hit the ground running, finally rodgers has some options up top, luis can put his feet up at the weekend (although i doubt he will want to!) and liverpool can push on for that 4th place spot we all know is possible!I85

Good point, do you think the midfield players are often out of position?

This may be the reason?

Sam armchair

Hadnt really thought about that sam, i suppose it probably doesnt help that we have changed the cm quite often and put in players like allen/henderson/gerrard who arent natural defensive mids so not great at protecting the back four. i think we just seem to switch off occasionally which has been costly in close games, prime example was the 2 goals walters got against us , i know skrtle slipped but agger was too far away from him to prevent a goal going in.I85

Well ed's and fellow reds. Great result last nite. 2 wins on the trot, if we keep this going we might even catch up the mancs. Messing aside ed's, is it correct that Coates is going 2 villa on loan to buy and we are taking in a fella called Franco d e guigan. Don't know an awful lot about him but he had successful stints in France and china and is now a free agent. Was told this by a friend whose girlfriend is a pool nut and is also rodger's pa's best friend. I'm 99% sure of this info but would like to hear if you or anyone else has heard the same. Cheers lads , Stoney

03 Jan 2013 11:46:19
Stop the Walcott talk now people he will not sign so please don't post he will.

My 4th post in recent weeks same as before Sturridge, Ince and possibly Butland are the only targets.

Sturridge done deal

Ince strong chance but Blackpool are notorious for dragging out transfers as to drive price up and Liverpools sell on percentage is high

Butland only for the future and that Liverpool can strike a very good deal as Birmingham have money problems.

Would love Villa and Sneider but not going to happen.

Only other tips are a inquiry for Danny Rose, downing to stay, Sahin will be allowed to leave maybe for another loan player to come in no info on that but eds still thinks it Jeffen.

True class last night shown by great supporters of a great club applauding the 66 who never made it home from Ibrox. 2 clubs united in tragedy. Here's hoping for true justice for the 96 who sadly never made it home from Hillsborough.

Ed I see that there is a lot of "sightings" of Villa but has there been any sightings of Sparky??

Was at the game last night, and saw David villa in a BMW just outside the ground? What do you reckon Eds?

03 Jan 2013 11:37:42
I love it when the window is open and everyone and their mum is reporting seeing some high profile player in Liverpool. At the moment it appears to be Villa.

Although I know it not to be true, it does brighten up my day and give me a good chuckle. "Just seen Villa come out of the lobster pot with Reina" ..... "Just seen Villa with 4 midgets in pinks suits" ......"I saw David Villa in a BMW and he winked at me" all cracked me up today.

Keep up the good work eds great site (my most visited). Has anyone heard from Blair Mayne lately? Haven't seen him around these parts lately he normally has something intelligent to say.

Happy new year to all the Reds out there

Fowlers Nostril {Ed002's Note - There were recent updates about Blair on WonderDogSparky's Twitter feed - home to the accurate news.}

Dear Ed002, we all know that you're actually a Chelsea fan, but how come you know so much about Liverpool transfers + management ? Are you actually Martin Broughton in disguise? {Ed002's Note - Disguise?}

Rumour lad posted other week was Ed you mentions-Pat Nevin

Ed002 is very rude to posters here, the purpose of this site is to answer questions from LFC fans ..... {Ed002's Note - You perhaps misunderstand the purpose of this site somewhat. It is not here for me to sit and answer questions from Liverpool fans.}

I think we might have found the balance needed in midfield.
Lucas, Gerrard, Henderson looked great last night.
Gerrard playing a bit deeper with Lucas and Henderson playing box to box pressing.
it Worked very well .
well done to the Red Men...
keep it up.

It did work well yesturday but i still think Suarez works a lot better with Gerrard then Hendo pushing forward.

I have also just had a text to say Villa is in Liverpool, I still dont believe it but far too many people are saying the same thing and its got me thinking now, has anyone got any solid evidence?

Regards

If its true which i doubt it then surely someone could post a pic to back up the claim.

BigD

Just a lie/rumour that has spread, same as it does every year. All these sightings and not one person has a picture.

These rumours have been circulating for the last couple of days now, if they were true it would have been on the news by now. Reporters aren't THAT slow.

I always thought Villa were from Birmingham?

Did anyone see the chap behind sturridge last night at anfield. Thought it could be another player coming in but not too sure as it could have been borini.

It was David Villa. :)

More chance of Ricky Villa.

This is just how I see things

says he is un-likely to do any more business soon but as I see it Cole and Sahin are on their way out. this frees up around 180k. we are again making our already small squad smaller. 2 midfielders out so surely 1 may be coming in at least. Sneijder ? his wage demand around 200 k would now be in our budget.

it just makes me think with this quote from on 24/12/12

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted he is looking to bring players into the club as early as possible in January.

and I cant see him only having Sturidge in mind

Murphy 96 YNWA

We wont pay 200k for anyone! We simply cant afford those type of wages!

If we paid him £200k a week, how would stevie and suarez feel about that considering they are twice as important to us than he would be.Unrest would be bound to follow

Shawcross just signed a long term contract with his current team, why would he now be coming to LFC, some people are just dillusional

Apologies for a not-strictly-Liverpool related question, but it applies to a lot of potential transfers so I'd be grateful if the eds could give a view on the following story I've just seen on the Guardian's website:

'Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have been told that any deal to buy Wilfried Zaha in the current window should involve the player being loaned straight back to Crystal Palace for the remainder of the season.

As part of any potential transfer Palace would also like two or three more players from the buying club, again on a temporary basis for the remainder of the season to help with their promotion push.'

Eds, I might well have got this wrong, but is it not the case that a maximum of one player at a time can be loaned from any one club to any other? If so, how can such tosh appear on the website of a reputable newspaper? {Ed002's Note - In the EPL, which Palace are not.}

OK thanks ed, my mistake and thanks for the clarification. {Ed002's Note - Not a mistake - just radically different rules.}

I wouldn't look too much in to the rumours of Villa being in Liverpool. He is best mates with Reina so would be catching up with him. Any deal to bring him in will be very difficult due to his age, we are only looking for a loan, possible wage demands, lack of playing time and we may need to move players on to accommodate.
Personally i think he would be a real asset to any team in the EPL and would love to see him sign.

Just had a phone call that sjnider is a goer all thesr people saying no sjnider or villa think again. Hasnt it accurd to anyone rodgers wants an older mind and someone he doesnt have to play each week coz if we get another striker whos he going to replace and play think about all this logically david villa for 16m is a bargin!!

Well if villa or snjeider want to snub most of the top european teams in the world and take a massive pay cut to play for liverpool whilst fsg abandoning their transfer strategy of younger and cheaper players, then 'd be over the moon. They aren't impossible but highly unlikely.

03 Jan 2013 09:59:35
I'm trying to not be overly optimistic, but I really think we can kick off over the next few games and maintain it over the season. Anything can happen against Arsenal, one week they look like a bottom half team, the next they look like title challengers. Let's hope that we play them on a bad day, keep the ball and knock a few goals past them without reply.
We have a pretty darn good record against Manchester City and with the form they've been in the last few weeks, plus the absence of Yaya Toure means that I victory is certainly on the cards for us. Norwich are a good team, but Suarez seems to love scoring against them so I'm banking a win then. Finally, United look brilliant this season, Van Persie is without a doubt the best player in the division. However, their midfield is the worst out of the top teams and form counts for nothing in the derby. Honestly think we can pick up 12 points over the next 4 games.
It'll be a miracle if we finish in the top 4 this season, but I think we can finish it strongly and kick off next year right in the hunt.

Just seen patmyheiny at the club sweet shop eating a dozen of wine gums is this true tht patmyheiny will be joining Liverpool ? Thanks eds

03 Jan 2013 09:51:14
Here is what is going to happenin jan:

- Sturridge is there ( most important signing for BR )

- Ince will join but just for 4m if they dont lower their price will join in Jan

- If the ince deal happens that was all but if we dont get him for 4m BR will try to sign another player on loan ( propably jeffren )

- There will be no goalkeeper moving to us in Jan (Butland)

- There will be no Playmaker moving to us in Jan ( snijder)

- Coates will be loanded out if BR finds a proper club who gives him playing time

- There will be no defender coming in as we still have carragher, wisdom, and some more young defenders as backup

- The david villa story seems very unlikely as there is either someone joking us or maybe david villa just wants to visit a friend or spend his holiday here in beautiful liverpool

A question for ed001 - I'd like to hear your footballing view on the full back situation. I am delighted with yesterday's match, but I got the distinct impression that the serious chances for sunderland to score a goal came after positional mistakes by Andre Wisdom - am I mistaken, or was it really the young lad's lack of experience showing?
I am afraid that such mistakes could be fatal against Man Un - who do you think will be a better fit for the full-back, Downing, Wisdom or J. Robinson? Or perhaps a switch to 5-3-2?

Cheers after a great win,
Drigan

As I saw it, Andre moved in to mark attackers in the centre as our CBs got sucked to our left.

For their second chance, everyone left the box as the ball came on, a woeful attempt at playing offside that left Wisdom isolated because he was sensible enough not to run out AFTER the ball had been played.

First one was nothing to do with positioning, but he could have reacted faster.

Question for ed002, do you think 2 packs of ready salted and a pack of dry roast is a decent transfer fee for Ken aguero? I asked ed019 but he said to ask you.
Huddz red

I take it your not answering then ed002?
Huddz red {Ed002's Note - That is a reasonable assumption. I don't like talking about potato snacks very much.}

I think you might need to add a couple of pints of bitter to that. Hudzz mate!

Phooey...

There has been a mistake in the information you have, maybe you misheard. Ken Aguero has actually been a pain to deal with, he has not asked for a bag of roasted nuts but instead has demanded that Liverpool rid the world of nuts (his nemesis) due to his severe allergy. He has devised a plan and now needs funding to build his Weapon of mass destruction! He is quite simply NUTS!!

Hope this has cleared some things up.

Hi ed,
I'm just curious is there anyway you can find out if these David villa sighting are from the same poster.
Thanks. {Ed052's Note - a few are yes, but lots of different people are making them up}

This is of course the time of the year that fans leave their cameras at home!

How many points would you guys take from the big 3 games coming up, and how many do you see us taking?
I think i win at Arsenal, a draw a City and unfortunately a loss at Old Trafford.

WelshBoyDave

I think a draw at Man Utd, win at arsenal and a draw at man city. We need to beat our rivals for 4th and one of the mancs to get 4th. It is a simple equation as that.

mgz

Draw at city and united.3 points at arsenal.
truered2

I think we will beat united, Draw at City (a cautious one from both teams imo so maybe a 0-0) and a score draw at Arsenal (2-2) im thinking

So, 5 points from these 3 games imo

United Kolours Of Bennetton

Unfortunately I can't see us winning any. 0 pts.

Since we're playing 3 games I would expect nothing less than 3 points.

First of all I would like to say, I am sure everyone who reads this site will agree. What an amazing website for avid Liverpool fans all information is spot on. So thank you...
I would like to know if there was a possibility of swapping Andy Carroll for Wesley Schnieder plus some cash and having a first option to buy Carrol back some day if he proves to be the talent he was at Newcastle? Thanks ed.

No probelm that can easily be done

All we need is Noel Edmonds to open up the multicolour Swapshop again

Why would Inter want Carroll? lol

How bout Downing for Messi instead?!

Il ring them and see wat they say carroll aint gonna be happy but il just get him locked and get him to sign..bag of chips a week salary?

As if I'd swap downing for messi, downin on top form

Can't believe we're paying Cole £4 million to get I'd of him. I know it will free up wages, but it seems a but excessive.

That the cost of Coles Butt

So the alternative then is to let him stay and pay him the full 7 or so million he's entitled to. I think he is being quite generous accepting such a big cut so he can still play regular football. It's not his fault he got the contract he did when he joined. It is what it is, it's not worked out and so we move on. Simonpw

But it comes from a different budget

sacrifice some of the transfer kitty to tidy up the wage bill

on a related note:-

Does anybody know how many over 21's LFC have registered for the prem this season?

Cole is not being generous. If you add our £50k a week gift to what the hammers are paying him it amounts give or take a little to the £90k a week which he was earning from us. From our perspective we do however save£3m over 18 months and get rid of a player who was not going to make many appearances over the next 18 months. The £40k saving pays a good portion of Sturridges wages over the next 18 months. With Sturridge, Suarez and Sterling available and Borini back in training next week I doubt we will sign another striker. would like to see Will Hughes of Derby signed up next. Reality Red

Just seen David villa delivering the post outside my house in Liverpool, you heard it here first!

Thats not your house the banks own it!

03 Jan 2013 07:14:44
eds, are all these 'just seen david villa' posts from the same ip address or are they just from random tossers? {Ed001's Note - bit of both.}

I'm not a Brendan hater but have bad my reservations this season on the side to side and back passes. I was at the game last night (as every week) and Sunderland should have scored twice last night in front of the Kop. I still feel we need to be a little tighter in defence sometimes.

Having said the above, I thought our display in the second half was sensational.

Let's have this conversation after Unied away...

Sorry, the above reply was to the below post, not the Villa comment !

Hey 'Sack BR' Brigade!

How are ya all guys? Eh!...So now we battered a poor Sunderland after beating Poor Fulham and Worse QPR..Chipping in 10 goals with 3 clean sheets!..

Its pretty evident that BR has tried different permutations and combinations to get his midfield right and probably now he has got it!..It was always a question of time and patience..But again lets not give our hopes and ambitions a shot of Viagara..Lets be realist!...At least for now I am thrilled with our playing style..Where would we finish?..Lets check at end of season..

Cheers!

Indian with Red Heart

We're 8th, and you're happy. Where is the ambition?

Why is it when we beat a side there "poor" Sunderland had been on a good run going in to that game with a lot of confidence. QPR have just won away from home v Chelsea and Fulham just beat stoke who we were terrible against.

Mike S

We could only take things one step at a time and btw we won 5 of our last 7 games which is only behind to Manu.Don't worry we will get closer to the top 4 by the end of the season or maybe even top 3 who knows!

Indy Kevin

Perhaps he is happy because we were 10th and now we're 8th - is that clear?

Puzzled

He has one the last 2 games because sunderland, qpr are crap. dont get carryed away. we will see what he can do in the next 3 prem matchs

The 'crap' QPR who beat Chelsea? Is that the one?

Two interesting stats from Kristian Walsh's blog that I never realised:

1. We haven't beaten a top 10 side this season, and
2. If this calendar year was a season, we would most likely be relegated

This isn't to bring doom and gloom to an extremely assured performance by the Reds, but just a caution not to think we're on the brink of winning the league just yet.

Ah sod it, who cares, we were awesome :)

cozinoz

You have to remember we had a really bad start to the year and changing managers didnt help, things are slowly starting to turn around. If you look at the table over the festive period we would be fourth. Point being you can set parametres to be top or bottom when really the only one that matters is your league position after the season ends. Lets look at where we are then.

K-Man

Hmmmm I reckon THIS calendar year we'd be pretty damn near the top mate. 1 game played, 1 win +3 goals!

Erm, if this calander year (2013) was a season, we would be in the champions league!

Ifs and buts don't mean anything

03 Jan 2013 06:50:19
Enjoyed the strong all round performance and win today, but at the same time, paradoxically, it also reinforced my feeling of the need for a plan 'B' to be ready and waiting up Rodgers' sleeve.

"If you are better than your opponent with the ball you have a 79 per cent chance of winning the game...for me it is quite logical." (Rodgers, 2012)

When it works, it works devastatingly, but had Sunderland (or QPR) pressed and harried us like Stoke did not so very long ago, you'd still have the nervy feeling that passing errors would be made and counterattacking or stupid-yielding-of-possession-by-our-defenders goals would eventuate.

So good, and positive moves in the right direction, but I'd still like to be reassured there's some flexibility in our manager's philosophy...

Interested in others opinions, as ever...

;0)

Dr S. Atire.

My opinion is that 'eventuate' is a tad out of place on this forum but hey I am all for broadening the mind

Puzzled

Agreed we need a Plan B but atm it's probably good to stick by our Plan A even when things aren't going well - the more we stick by it, the sooner those panicky mistakes will be eradicated. I actually thought that we weren't too bad on the ball against Stoke, just toothless in the second half - the real problem was our defending off the ball.

I can't believe Rodgers' statement. I still think a person/people will be heading in, Rodgers has an awful poker face, he's very transparent with it and this ''nothing in the pipeline'' crap will be known as one of those things managers say to the cameras which simply ins't true with hindsight.

We've been negotiating with Tom Ince, whether or not that has been put to bed, i'm sure we have other options to look at. When we heard/read that ''Rodgers wants business concluded quickly.'' I don't think he was talking to ''the fans''. I think that was a boot in the right place for the transfer people at LFC not to be complacent this time around before it's too late to do anything about it, like in January.

Now we have Sturridge and Borini is closing in on a return from injury, as well as Sterling's rise to the first team this season, which will cover the loss of Bellamy, Maxi and Kuyt but we still haven't replaced Andy Carroll who for all sake and purposes isn't going to play for Liverpool again under Rodgers.

I think Ince would have been that extra player who would have added that much needed squad depth. This added to the statements of Rodgers that ''Sterling has played too much already this season.'' It does lead me to think at least one more player is coming in, but then Suso's name crops up and throws my theory into the vortex of early morning brain farts.

Villa on loan (true or not) would have been that special transfer that could have certainly got the Kop in a state of frenzied anticipation and maybe transformed the 2nd half of the season.

£16 million for a 31 year old is very steep but if that 31 year old scores 15+ goals a season until he's 34 then it's surely good business isn't it?

To get into the Champions League we need Champions League quality players because the Premiership is so tough. I think Barcelona should have offered him to us on a loan to permanent transfer but any favours will come at the price of Suarez and Villa would most likely turn Suarez's head to the Camp Nou. But let's be honest, will Suarez be heading out that way regardless if he keeps his performances to the standard we've seen so far? I think it's highly likely.

City/ManUtd and Arsenal all have numbers and quality up front, Chelsea are about to take Ba and maybe someone else. We have Suarez and kids to combat this, maybe that extra class and experience from one of Spain's best forwards ever could have been more than a player but a mentor as well!?

We wasted almost a third of what Villa would have cost us, on Sahin. That might also be worth thinking about.

'£16 million for a 31 year old is very steep but if that 31 year old scores 15+ goals a season until he's 34 then it's surely good business isn't it?'

That's what they said about Joe Cole. Les we forget...

Singred

What are you worried about. He was spotted having cucumber sandwiches on Southport beach this morning.

Who the hell is Les?

Joe Cole has never scored 15+ goals in a season, he's not a striker. The point isn't even viable as you've just claimed ''everyone thought that about Joe Cole'' You mean yourself? If not then don't talk or type on ''everyone's'' behalf because your b.s is obvious b.s. It's a common generalisation which is a falsehood, also known as a fallacy.

Just wanted to say how proud i was of the players yesterday. I though it was our best game so far.

Good to see Gerrard hopefully silence 'he's past it' critics also as he was immense!

The other day i posted also that i thought we would finish 5th ahead of Everton and Arsenal and got laughed at (maybe correctly) but really think we will

Hopefully with couple of signings we can really push on this half of the season

Joe cole -90, 000 a week wages topped up by a signing on fee .money could be best used else where .

Dani Pacheco- seems to lack something perhaps not suited the the premier league

Alexander doni- just dead money that's all that can be said

Andy Carroll- kills me to say it because I love the big greasy Geordie but he wouldn't get near the starting line up at Liverpool so his value is best re invested else where

Nuri sahin- he's on big big money from the club and doesn't seem to be cutting it cancelling loan ay be best all round

Jay spearing- not gunna make it at a club this big IMO better off letting him go and progress as a footballer than keep him clinging on to hope of being a Liverpool regular

To hazard a guess in sales and wages saved from February to August this could amass up to (guesstimating) 35 million pound. FFp would obviously restrict us spending all this money but just imagine two class players in return for these players who are never going to make it at Liverpool

03 Jan 2013 05:46:01
Sniejder wants 200k, The clubs greatest player Steven Gerrard only gets around 150k so what planet are you guys on? We are not getting him end of story.

Kenny was the clubs greatest player

And stevie is not on 150K a week

Erm Stevie IS on more than 150k a week!

He is paid about 9million a year!

IMO I think Sturridge will be a real player for us yes he might be a little raw and a bit greedy but all the best players in history have bin greedy . Plus the lad has a point to prove to him and the rest of the league

Jimbo

03 Jan 2013 05:22:38
Really don't think Liverpool would benefit from a superstar joining the team as Brendon is building a squad built on togetherness but superstars really only think of themselves
Jimbo

03 Jan 2013 10:13:18
Jimbo then we should sell Suarez coz we don't need superstar oh wait his only the player caring liverpool. How old are you mate when we win one game we don't need quality players when we loose we need quality players as our first teams is not good. Fans like you are embarrassment to thise great club

03 Jan 2013 03:37:50
Looking forward to our next 3 away fixtures - United, Arsenal, City. Come on Red men! Finally showing some form and consistency, something I think we've needed not only in the past few months, but the past few years.

Very happy with Sturridge, and have my fingers crossed for more signings.

YNWA.

Thanks, Ell.

Gameiro, Sterling, Suarez, Sturridge, Ince, Borini....
Also...Yesil, Assaidi, Carroll, Morgan etc.
Personally, I'd love Honda /Turan/Walcott to sign this January but p*ssing in the wind!
Joe Cole off the wages will help...£100k p.w.?
I watched Andre Wisdom closely tonight and I truly believe he'll be a legend! But as Centre-Half....not a modern-day full-back.
I'm a big fan of Coates but looks like he's off!?
I'd love to see Coates and Agger as our two CB's but Martin Skirtel's playing well at the moment. Kelly and Carragher are other options at centre-back.
Joe Allen, Jordan Henderson, Lucas Leiva, Jonjo Shelvey,

Liverpool vs Sunderland... the breakdown.... will probably be quite obvious but to hell with it...

Reina - didn't have a great deal to do but the few times he was tested (and there were a couple in the 1st half) he was excellent, didn't put a foot wrong.

Wisdom - looked a little shaky early on and positionally was loose but grew into the game and, considering he hasn't played in the 1st team for a couple of months, did well.

Johnson - was good defensively, got forward very well as he always does. We do have holes at the back because of his surges but its something we have to accept, his runs further up the pitch help open the play up and are a great outlet, wasn't as involved as usual but still played very well.

Skrtel - gave away a few silly fouls due to his eagerness but overall was very good.

Agger - as always soild, dependable and simply a world class defender. did what he had to do well.

Lucas - did his job of breaking up play quietly and effectively, distribution was good and overall contribution to the game spot on, has become a huge player for us.

Henderson - i've criticised him before but he was excellent today, great work rate and desire, good passing, good tackling, played the box to box role and really filled it. Has been good over the festive period, I hope it continues.

Gerrard - sublime. Despite Suarez's two goals he was man of the match for me. Dictated all our play, distribution was magnificent, desire and commitment first class. I've criticised him as he has not been good enoigh for large chunks of the season - hit his stride in recent games though, if this form continues then our good run of result will too.

Downing - I'm probably one of his biggest critics and have lambasted him continually. Today I have nothing but praise. Ran the line well, was lively, got on the ball, ran at players, crossed it really well and was a threat through out - most importantly was his desire, there was an intensity about his play that has been lacking in his time at Anfield so far - if he can keep it up then he'll do good things at our club.

Sterling - was really lively in the first half and took his goal superbly. had a great chance in the 2nd half which he was unable to finish. Finds himself in good positions, runs intelligently off the ball, is improving at a phenomenal rate - a huge talent.

Suarez - outstanding as he has been all season. Two great goals which highlight his many attributes from sheer desire and work rate to flawless technical ability and control. He was immense today and has been all season, I only hope we're able to hang on to him for many years to come.

Allen - took 10 minutes to settle into the game but when he did he played well. Got forward well, was more decisive with his forward passing and unlucky not to open his goalscoring account for us. Definitely seems to suit a more advanced position as when he drops back he seems to struggle to stay with players.

Suso - was so slick on the ball, his technique is fantastic, his touch and control spot on and has a very intelligent football brain. Did well when he came on and, like Sterling, is a huge talent.

Carragher - didn't have an awful lot to do in fairness but was solid and saw the game out for us comfortably. Broke Billy liddel's appearance record as well - this might be his last season but he is a legend and a terrific servant to the club, hopefully we'll see him stay on as a coach for many more years.

Conclusions

It was an almost perfect team performance, Everyone contributed and did well. Most important was the intensity, there was a hunger and desire which has been lacking at times this season - It was refreshing to see, when the crowd see it they back the players more and when they do that the players respond in kind. It was a good result and sets us up nicely for a run of very tough games approaching. It's difficult to say what we should realistically expect as we've been quite unpredictable this season, if we can earn 5 points from Arsenal, Man City an Man United (all away from home) then we will be doing very well indeed but certainly not easy to predict. The festive period has been about previously under performing players 'coming good' - Henderson has been really good the past few games and Downing has livened up completely. Whether Rodgers dropping him to left back (and the bench) has gave him a much needed wake up call i don't know, but there has been a marked improvement that even someone like me, a fierce critic of Downing, cannot deny - we can all only hope it continues.

I think tonight we looked like a team, it wasn't just individuals together but a solid, fluid team, it was pleasing to see. Daniel Sturridge has arrived! i voiced my concerns about his arrival a few weeks ago and they have not changed. However, he is now a Liverpool player and as such has my full support, I really hope the lad can do well. Still a few signings away from looking strong enough to compete at the top - not sure January is the right tie for them anyway, will be interesting to see what other business (if any) we conduct. Time for sleep now, after that performance it'll be a good one, lets hope for many more this season.

SMc

p.s. annoyed that everytime we win or play well pundits and critics focus on how bad the other team supposedly is - pretty harsh in my opinion. I know teams sometimes play bad but I think that's down to ourselves. We make it hard, we play well and we deprive teams of possession when we play well - crazy concept but our good play has an effect on other teams which prevents them from playing well. We are getting better, I hope we continue.

Good reply...
luis suarez..what would you call him...
his touch, controll, finish..desire..and commitment...he is the man who will lead liverpool to the next level..
I will always like KK and commilil for this one signing...
He should have had the third goal...
and the control ..OMG...execptional..
the commentators were responsding..
theres the genius in luis suarez..
We can proudly say to the world..we have a player...whom you will never match...

They guy just play for the liverpool fans...he scores for us...he celebrates for us...
I will sell the entire club but will never leave a player like him from the club..
40 mill city?

My sister is a health care assistant at melwood and she claims to of heard that sahin may go due to wages and the fact he wants 1st team football but isn't consistent enough, so with Cole and sahin gone, sniejder is increasing to at least a bid/inquiry!
When I think about it, we do have a lot of CM's to compete with sahin and Cole hasnt got constancy to fight for his place so this could turn out a bloody hood move 'if' it did happen. Fingers crossed hey! Well done tonight boys. :-)

03 Jan 2013 01:50:06
First set of 6 games - 1 win
Second set of 6 games - 2 wins
Third set of 6 games - 3 wins
Fourth set of 6 games - 2 wins (3 to come)

That being said the first 6 and current 6 were/are very tough with United and Arsenal both away.

Hopefully the progress continues.

Welcome to DS.

Andy K

Not trying to defend myself here however what are the disagrees for? The first 4 lines are facts. The first 6 games were extremely tough. We have United, City, Chelsea and West Brom in the next 6 games, all above is and tough. Hopefully the progress does continue (maybe this is the point that people disagree with?). And Welcome to Daniel Sturridge (maybe this is the point that people disagree with).

great result tonite all be it against a poor side and yes we played some good stuff and some great individual performances but dont want to get to carried away as 2 great wins back to back the real test will be next 4 games united, norwich, city, arsenal but m quite confident we can take 10 points from those games f we play the football we can and think with sturridge available should defo go 4 4 2 for the 3 away games reina wisdom agger skrtel johnson lucas gerrard downing sterling sturridge suarez starting line up cos with that line up can see us scoring and if we r in front then change it to 4 3 3 with hendo on to chase down in midfeld but if it doesnt work out quite like i have planned then can we all still back the team and not whinging we all knew this season was going to be a bit tough but there r good signs there, and with uniteds ageing defense think suarez and sturridge will have them tied up in knots with pace and pure brilliance cmon red men also great to see stevie g back to form maybe we going to peak at right time no surprise that lucas back in and the players around him are showing there qualities and for all u moaners remember the stick u gave lucas now who would want to start a game without him for me lucas liverpool legend in the making

Brilliant to see the kop backing Brendan Against sunderland

"there's only one Brendan Rodgers!"

03 Jan 2013 01:15:50
unless players leave dont expect any more signings.
for example, cole leaves sturridge in, therefore unless downing leaves dont expect another forward/winger. six players for three positions at the moment.
sturridge, suarez, sterling, downing, borini, assaidi. however with assaidi away in africa cup perhaps room for 1 more but i think unlikely unless downing goes.

mid: suso will play in midfield from now on albeit as an attacking mid. this may be reason for sahins loan finishing. lucas, gerrard, allen, suso, hendo, shelvey.
again unless someone leaves dont expect anyone new. due to high wage perhaps hendo may be sold.

def: enrique, agger, skrtel, johnson, kelly, carragher, coates, wisdom.
perhaps an opening for a LB buy here but again as long as downing is here (can provide cover at LB) i dont see a move being made for anyone at the back either unless some one leaves.

the key is downing, if he is sold an attacker and a LB will be sought. also if both hendo and sahin leaves only then will a replacement mid be sought.
in other words, as yet all our business in, is done, for now.

lfc77 {Ed001's Note - Henderson is not on high wages.}

He's on 60-70k from everything I've read. That's a high wage for a young player signing his first contract with the club, especially considering the wages that our of recent signings, Allen and Borini.

It's not exceedingly high, but it's still too high if you take into account the context of his signing, IMO at least.

I would be amazed if henderson is sold now just as he begins to deliver a little bit , he must keep improving but i think he has a future with us .

03 Jan 2013 09:48:24
Ed1 mate correct me if I'm wrong no player which Dalglish signed are big on wages {Ed001's Note - you are correct.}

I see demba ba sign for chelsea and i suddenly feel extremely depressed. I feel if we sign just 1 top player in the window then it will be an immense boost in confidence and we only need 1 or 2 top quality additions before we are back to 4th

03 Jan 2013 00:58:11
Hey Eds,

Just wanna know what is the fee that Liverpool have paid to Chelsea for Daniel Sturridge? £12mill is the figure being banded about in the media but just want to know if this is true.

Also, none LFC related, I have noticed numerous media sources stating that Demba Ba has moved from Newcastle United to Chelsea as they "triggered his £7mill release clause." I was under the impression from the Eds here that this clause was for Champions League clubs only, or am I mistaken? Just wish to know if £7mill is indeed the fee that has been given to Newcastle or if it is different...

Thanks in advance

Reid the Red {Ed002's Note - The fee was a little more than £12M, but not much.}

03 Jan 2013 00:57:26
I know a lot of people are saying that we should not get too confident because these are teams that we should be beating but why not get excited about this?
Last year against fulham, qpr and sunderland, in these exact fixtures we did not pick up maximum points in any of them and now we have. Last year we had a loss against Fulham, a loss to QPR and a tie to Sunderland. And now we have won all three. I feel this a great piece of progress as we have improved in recent games. This what this season is should be about with Rodgers in his first year is to improve from last year. We should be happy for what we have done so far. We expect too much a lot of times. YNWA

03 Jan 2013 00:52:40
I can't believe I'm getting excited over the David Villa rumours. 36 yr old and I'm excited over airport stories.
You think I'd know better.

03 Jan 2013 00:43:18
just watched motd seeing as i was working earlier and i have to say what a brilliant performance that was. brilliant to see stevie g showing why he is 1 of the best midfielders in the world, can only get better with sturridge added to the team

We can praise individuals, and yes, they deserve it. But for the manager to put his trust in the likes of Henderson and Downing, shows what potential Liverpool have for the future, and I will always, and have always supported Brendan Rodgers.

Piledriver

03 Jan 2013 00:25:10
Brendan Rodgers has stated that there are no other signings in the pipeline. I suspect he is more in the know than most of us. Possible smoke and mirrors, but why would he have to lie?

Hope he is lying.

Coop

03 Jan 2013 08:30:51
You guys do this to yourselves every transfer window.

The manager says we are not buying anyone and nobody listens and then you all end up disappointed at the end of the window.

We are not buying anybody else. Maybe he is playing on words and wont buy anybody but will loan someone.

03 Jan 2013 00:21:40
Obviously a great result and performance tonight. First time in a while we have looked comfortable in successive games espec in midfield. Got tickets for the west ham game in April and as I come from Belfast I am not able to get over to Anfield as much as would like, hoping it could be a game where are challenging for a top 4. Not likely I know, but without dreams no-one would be a football fan. YNWA.

We're starting to beat the teams we should be beating... I think Utd. City and Arsenal away and then Norwich at home as the next 4 games will be a good indication of where we are at.

03 Jan 2013 00:10:16
I thought at times tonight we where superb. Suarez is fast becoming one top five best in the world.

The whole Brendan Rogers philosophy became evident tonight for me. The movement was excellent. I was so impressed by Henderson and Johnson.

I am starting to feel a little hopeful. A Happy new year to all you chaps and eds

03 Jan 2013 00:00:10
Next four games

United away
Norwich at home
City away
Arsenal away

It going to be a tough Janaury.

Tommo

6 points will be nice from next 4 games...Anything tops will be bonus!

3 draws and a win!..Realistic?

Indian with Red Heart

They are a difficult set of fixtures. But look at the 4 games that we have already played against these teams.
1. We battered utd with 10 men and deserved not just a point against them but all three. Slur Alex admitted it afterwards when he said "we were terrible".
2. Man city game, 10 mins to go and Skertel has a "blond" moment. Again should have won the game.
3. Norwich. 5-2 enough said!
4. Arsenal game. we got battered!
Yes its a tough run of fixtures but we have already shown that we can beat these teams if we play well. The team should also be pissed off at what happened in these games earlier on in the season and go to our rivals with a point to prove.
Welcome to Anfield Daniel Sturridge!
Better to be talented and greedy than just greedy...... At 23 yrs old we can improve his team play and he could be absolutely brilliant for us if it all clicks.
Nice to see some positive posts for a change.

Wigan are close to signing Atletico Madrid keeper Joel.

What that means for Al-habsi i have no idea.

02 Jan 2013 23:53:54
allen looked very good 2day maybe it was the rest and a more attacking role think we should look for a proper cdm as cover for lucas and downing was very good again he just needs to step up in the more high profile games

02 Jan 2013 23:50:12
How come so many people are seeing Villa yet don't have pictures? Is he Dracula? No he's tucked up in Spain

02 Jan 2013 23:49:41
Hi Eds,

Just seen match of the day, you think this Harry that Rodgers spoke about was Redknapp? Possibly over Cole leaving. Great site. {Ed019's Note - Harry is too late, Coles off to WHU}

I think Harry made a phone call about Joe Cole to Rodgers but Cole wants to go back to West Ham not QPR.

I think it's best for all concerned. Cole never set the Kop alight and he does cost a lot to maintain in wagers.

02 Jan 2013 23:40:55
Ed, just a quick question. Even if you look as far back as Rafa's reign in charge, did we ever have any interest in David Villa at all? Did we ever nearly get him? {Ed019's Note - I don't remember, wasn't he always trying to persuade Torres to leave,?}

We'd have not got Villa in a million years in his peak years - and now he's into his 30's - it's still very unlikely.
Po

02 Jan 2013 23:34:56
Hi eds. what do you make of Sturridge being given the number 15 shirt when number 9 is and number 10 will very soon available? Does that possibly mean 2 more incoming attacking players? {Ed019's Note - Don't look into it too much}

No chance - how would Di Natale get a game up front for LFC if his name doesn't start with 'S'.

cozinoz

How about Tommy Smith, Ian St.John or Dean Saunders?
REDditch

... and what does that mean for Borini?

02 Jan 2013 23:34:31
No.9 shirt left free......suspect there will be a big signing to come in to take the shirt. Believe this is why we are getting wages off the books again, gonna be big. AirporpersonchDog {Ed019's Note - Carroll is the No. 9 unless he agrees to give it up}

Remember when Aquilani went on loan to Juventus and we've signed Meireles who took the number 4.
Esna

02 Jan 2013 23:34:25
Eds is it possible to tell if the posts on the rumours page about David Villa landing at the airport and being seen in a BMW etc. are from the same person? If so it would make sense to expose them so fans don't get too carried away!

K-Man {Ed019's Note - Too late for that, but it probably is}

Carrol has no number according to the list on players on the official LFC site...

02 Jan 2013 23:26:28
Rodgers saying there's nothing in the pipeline and it won't be a busy month, should we expect a shock signing like Assaidi was or have we been out priced and happy with just Sturridge

02 Jan 2013 23:24:14
Just got back from the game tonight and we were superb! We practically made It so Sunderland stop playing, as if they gave up completely! Bit nervy at start but after about 15 minutes we started playing some quality football! We could have had more, 2 disallowed, which I've not seen replays yet but they weren't offside surely? I may be wrong. Anyways absolutely brilliant win! And as I said yesterday always been skeptical about henderson but I thought he was super tonight! Downing again had a good game, he's on fire ATM but I've never been a fan of downing but I appreciate how good he's playing. And just to say the entire team were just brilliant, did not allow Sunderland to break into an attack bar twice I think?. Top class performance, can't praise the team enough!

M

Di Natale from Udinese? Isn't he about 100 years old?

davethebutcher

Yep..35..but he score 20 goals last season...
does that make you happy...?

02 Jan 2013 23:17:20
Barcelona have rejected a loan offer for David Villa and said "if you want Villa, cough up £16m!" There is no lies in this but is it a risk worth taking? Your thoughts eds? (And replies too) {Ed019's Note - I wouldn't do it}

You could get younger players like Turan for a little more than that.

Yip I agree with ed his to old leave him where he is.

02 Jan 2013 23:16:51
Hand on heart I questioned Gerrard at the start of the season. I now fully subtract anything I said. It's obvious injuries took their toll in recent times, but his resurgence has been nothing short of incredible. He's found his role in BR's team, helped massively by Lucas. You can see the confidence in him and Suarez resonating amongst the team. That's taking pressure off Downing, Henderson (who are both useful squad players) and others which is making all the difference.

I'm happy with Sturridge signing. All I saw was arrogance, selfishness etc. But judging on his words, BR's judgement and his willingness to join I've been won round a little. Lots of potential, like Borini. Lets hope they both get/stay fit and push is forward in the coming months.

Just quickly on Sahin and Cole. If both go (which seems likely), I'd wish them both good luck in their future endeavours. Cole has a lot to offer his boyhood club and Sahin will find his quality in the right league, not the EPL. Yes both have proven costly, but you've got to give BR credit for boldly making these decisions, as he did with Adam and others in the summer. If both do leave I hope to see us push for Holtby. Big signings like Sneijder or Kaka just won't/shouldn't happen, but someone like Holtby, Isco or Erickson (in the summer, if we got 4th). Would be a positive move, to really give us that touch of class, to combine with Suarez.

Onwards and upwards.

Papa G

02 Jan 2013 23:13:50
Sahing is off back to Real Madrid to sort out a move elsewhere and Coles move to west hame is having some difficulties but should still go ahead.

Not much to inform of others coming in but with them two gone then that will free up a lot of wages. So either expect one or two more smaller signings this window or expect a big summer.

There is definitely discussions going on with another player, I managed to a get a very brief glance at the first page of some documents that belong to the club. We are in discussions with a player called Onate, I am not too sure if that's how you spell his name, I have never heard of him before and nor could I find the club he plays for, so maybe I am wrong about the spelling. But one thing I do know is that we are have made definite contact with him and talks are been proposed. My apologies for sounding obscure, but I just could never get the chance to get a really good look at the document.

Red Squirrel

Unless you work for lfc (and if you do you would be in danger of getting sacked for this) how would you get a look at any documents.

03 Jan 2013 03:52:29
So you had time to read through ALL the details but not enough time to read the name...............

Haha! John Henry must have a squirrel living under his desk.

Nick

Victor Onate is David Villa's agent

02 Jan 2013 23:10:12
Liverpool are looking to make some big changes this month Daniel Sturridge has already joined the club for £12m. Joe Cole is set to have a medical at Upton Park tomorrow while Liverpool are in talks to cancel Nuri Sahin's loan deal and with serious interest from Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan Real Madrid are likely to agree to a termination of the loan deal. Rodgers is planning a £5m move for Schalke midfielder Lewis Holtby. Liverpool are still exploring the possibility of brining David Villa to Anfield but that may prove too ambitious. Liverpool will sign one more forward in January with Rodgers looking for an experienced mobile forward who can play in a front three and knows where the goal is. Liverpool are scouting Ciaran Clark and Jack Butland at the minute but these moves will be shelved until the summer.

Very good tonight. 9 points from 12 for the holidays. 4 tough league games coming up. We need 8 points from them. going to stick my neck out and say we can get 8/9 points from these games.
Utd
Norwich
Arsenal
City
If we get them then we're in with a shout of being in the mix for CL spots. After tonight I think Sturridge could be just what we need. Luis loves to drop deep and play facing the goal and if we can get Sturridge to be like the young lad from Utd then we will be lethal. Downing is much improved and the stevie and lucas tandem deeper is looking better and better. fair play to both hendo and Allen when he came on. I like having that energy between the lines.

My honest predictions for next 4 games would be. Win vs united......lose vs man city......win vs norwich.......draw vs arsenal

I can see us taking max points againts norwich...
a draw against arsenal..unless carzola is awful..coz they play so fast at home..
UTD will be the game...
against UTD..no team selction... no big names..no tactics works..
anyone can win home or away..coz..its a special fixture...
4-4-2 against 4-3-3..
lucas will have to play another blinder...releasing gerrard to ripp carrick and cleverly..and show the kids...whats actually being a midfielder...
suarez sturridge and sterling..kicking..evra. ferdiannd and vidic..

man city...we are gonna loose...
toom much quality there...
silva and toure..

lets be optimistic..
beat UTD..and norwich...and work hard to get a point from emirates...
and thats it...

You never guess who I've just meet?
I just finished watching the match online, then poured a glass of water and made my way up to bed. After I brushed my teeth and got my PJs on, I jumped into bed and lent over to kiss the mrs goodnight.

I got the shock of my life "Hola" this little Spaniard said, I jumped up and put on the light, there was David Villa lying where on the wife's side of my king size bed,

He said he was visiting as many Liverpool-Rumour poster as he could, some at home, some at the Airport and some around the Melwood area.

He told be it was a "Done Deal" he is signing 12 & 1/2 contract for No Fee as he has bought himself out of his Barca contract. He said he can't see himself ever winning much with them. And he has nearly signed for us every transfer window since Rafa won the Champions League.

He is personally paying the agents fee as well as dropping his wage demands to 10K a week with appearance bonus of 50 quid and goal or assist bonus of £14.50.

Now I know what your thinking "This guys a crackpot" but it was definitely him as my Misses doesn't have one of those funny little beard things under her bottom lip, and he did!

Spread the word around and keep your eyes peeled as he may visit you.

Now don't forget the name DAVID VILLA and you heard it her first.

YNWA Markolfc {Ed019's Note - Did you see Ken Aguero anywhere by any chance?}

Does Bruce Grobbelaar live in your dishwasher?

Cuchulainn's Hounds

Ken Aguero was rumoured to be Villas chauffeur for the persistent future.

1) Fantastic performance.

2) 3 points.

3) Sturridge in.

4) Joe Cole out (permanent too!)

5) Good start to 2013, let's hope we progress vs Mansfield and anything at Old Toilet is a bonus. Let's do this.

Nice to see liverpool fans still belittling there players.

Lets go reds

Great result tonight, that will do very nicely. Just out of interest, who would be happy with Sturridge and a decent LB this window? Personally I think that would make our squad look quite strong, and I wouldn't want too many new players coming into the squad mid-season.

El Pi**edolero

I personally like johnson at left back he can come inside while downing or enrique give you the outside option another goalscorer is all we need for now then come summer a rb so more options with quality right backs out there mayhem 1981

Another striker please!
