I remember when one of Manchester City or Liverpool offered a swap deal involving Carroll and Tevez. Maybe Tevez can be that loan signing....?

That was when teves and Mancini still had their differences. That was put to bed a long time ago

31 Jul 2012 21:45:03
Hi eds do you think Stephan El Shaarawy could be our star loan player he's a fantastic player

5* skills :)

Not best source but caught offside are saying spurs are going to enter the race for Andy Carroll

Spurs are also claiming Dalglish as their best ever player and changing their kits to red

31 Jul 2012 21:33:38
Hi Eds, is their any truth about possibly getting Adam Johnson and Jack Butland, also would there be any chance of possibly buying or loaning Edin Dzeko or Tomas Muller either would be quality signings?

31 Jul 2012 21:32:49
Hey Ed's, I was wondering if there is any interest in yanga mbiwa as a replacement for agger, if he does end up leaving? I know of the interest in Amorebieta from you guys, just if we're looking at anyone else if a deal can't be reached.

Rodgers spouting a load of stuff about transfers on the LFC site.
I don't believe a word of it. He talks like a politician.

Tinto

Well let's see at the end of the transfer window whether he was lying or not. And if you're right you'll get a giant parade in your honour down Anfield Road for being so clever

Red Ollie

That's it, don't believe a word of the manager of the football club you are supposed to support, especially before the season has even started and he hasn't had a chance to do anything at all, you're a great fan and Shankly would rest in peace knowing Liverpool fans have turned out to be as supportive as you, YNWA eh?

MR EM

Which is why you, the media and everyone else do not have a clue whats going on. The Liverpool Way. BR the best

You don't believe that there will be transfers happening? Get a grip you fool!

What Liverpool need are players who really want to play for the shirt, who will give 100% effort in every game, who will cause trouble to any defender and who are equally capable of helping out to defend set pieces.

Oh, wait a minute, we have one like that in Andy Carroll and our new 'one trick pony' Manager, who promised a level playing field for everyone, has decided he can't work with him before he has even had the chance to see him in training.

Letting Carroll go will be a mistake we will regret for years.

redmersey

100% effort in every game? The only time I saw that was in the 3 or 4 games leading up to the Euros. Before then he was lazy and pants.

This the same andy carroll who found out he could run...with 3 games left of the season?

Giving OUR manager grief and criticism before he has got the team he wants together might be a a mistake you regret mate

cozinoz

We have lots of players who want to play for the shirt but it is good players we need as they will get us to the top , sadly not spearing , adam , carroll , downing etc etc. red mick tag

It must be some kind of reason, why Brendan is coach, and not you!?

31 Jul 2012 21:14:59
Hey EDs, Just wanted to ask if u know anything about the gaston ramirez transfer. The last i heard was that his agent was in talks with an english club and everyone assumed it was liverpool ! Hope we do sign him, looks a great player !

Thanks, great site keep it up !
{Ed002's Note - I have dealt with this at length.}

He don't need a medical

Would his bum still be the same size in today's shorts?

eds, any chance of torres coming back since theres no place at chelsea, and any chance of raul albiol if a cb leaves.
thanks. {Ed002's Note - I doubt it.}

31 Jul 2012 19:51:38
Ed with Shaqiri going to Bayern, and given his falling out with Robben, do you see Ribery as the possible loan player?
Or do you see him going to Real? Speaking of Real will Benzama be available if they sign a new forward?
RNred {Ed002's Note - I doubt it.}

31 Jul 2012 21:03:09
I have read more then once on this site that Stirling may leave. Is that really possible? Please tell me we can find room for him, he will put joe cole to shame when it comes to effort and desire.
Joe cole is never gonna be a red, never in a million years. Send him back to London, I would rather have joe Barton, at least he gets stuck in when he puts his mind to it. Joe cole is so lacking in enthusiasm that it's shocking. Stirling should get his shirt and match time.

Spearing over Cole all day every day

31 Jul 2012 20:59:16
sure im going to get a lot of stick for this, but...

Royston Drenthe's contract has expired at Real Madrid and he is currently a free agent... Gotta be worth a shot?

Wow so was degan and voronin. these free agent signings are great for smaller clubs but they just hamper the development of youth in my opinion, they also involve huge signing on fees and generally larger wages.

Eds: Are amorebieta agents FM04 blowing hot air by stating that they have rejected a bid from liverpool. Have we actually made an offer, and are we to assume the Agger or Skrtl could be on the move. As we have cover for centre backs as it stands, surely we would only move for another if one of our experienced Cbs was to move on.
Jim22 {Ed002's Note - There is interest in Amorebieta.}

31 Jul 2012 20:48:29
Is it true Aquilani will receive a €5 million pay off when he leaves for fioentina. Liverpool will pocket €1.8 million total from the sale. Must be the worst transfer in history.

Yip, thanks Benetiz

31 Jul 2012 20:47:04
Why???????
After Bueno's participation in the FIFA U-17 World Cup, Liverpool Football Club took him on a 10-day trial.[1] He had a successful trial but could not be signed as he was under the age of 18. Having turned 18, Bueno was expected to sign for Liverpool during the 2012 summer transfer window, having reached a pre-contract agreement with Liverpool at the end of his trial period in 2011. However, the transfer is no longer definite due to a change in management at Liverpool since Bueno's trial period.

Hope we sign him. he scored a couple of good goals and got a good assist in a game i seen of him for pachuca. he was the catalist for their victory.

31 Jul 2012 20:42:21
Alright, would just like to hear all your thoughts.
IF, and it's a big IF, Skrtel was to go, would you all rather have a replacement bought in i.e. Amorebieta/Kjaer or give Big Seb his chance to step up? I know Agger and Kjaer work well together, but why did we purchase Coates in the first place if he wasn't to be given game time? After all, the young lad did win the Copa America Young Player Award, ahead of the likes of Neymar etc etc.
Anyway just thought I'd throw a conversation topic into the mix to break up the monotony of the 'VILLA IS THE PLAYER ON LOAN' posts!

JP.

For me, I'd give Coates a shot until January. If it wasn't working, then look at a replacement. At some point, he needs to either step up or go elsewhere. He's 21 (almost 22) so not all that young really, an experienced international, and cost us £8M so not exactly a bargain basement signing.

Then again, if I knew what he looked like in training I might have a different opinion, so I'll trust BR to make the correct call on his future.

Well i don't think BR has had the chance to see him yet. seb does have habits of lofting the ball forward but i'm sure BR will set him straight because he is better than that.
derryred

With Agger being prone to the treatment table, it only makes sense to bring another in. It should be someone that is a proven defender and still at his peak. Coates should be pushing Skrtel and Agger for their spots. It appears that he isn't, so he probably isnt quite there just yet.

LIVERPRES

21 (22) is young. I would suggest lets see him get same game time and then lets judge. 8m for the South American young player of the tournament and relatively experienced at international level may turn out to be great value. Time will tell and more to the point, playing time.

Andy K

Agger, Coates, Amorebieta, Kelly, Wilson. should be fine if u ask me with 5 CB. Wilson could even leave?

Kaizer

31 Jul 2012 19:41:14
If Newcastle want Carroll how about Ben arfa and ten million rather him than ba ! would take that think Ben arfa would smash it with Suarez them two would dazzle teams both unpredictable allowing borini the freedom to bang goals!! What u lot reckon ??

I don't think they would be willing to let him go. Nor Cisse or Cabaye.

31 Jul 2012 19:33:44
all these agger leaving rumours doing the rounds. you would have to be a very brave doctor to give him the o.k. considering his injury record . he has yet to play a full season since he came here .

alan waddle

Something like 35 games last and he only missed some due to breaking his ribs whilst playing.

Thanks to the ending of Rafa's diabolical medical staff

Ben

Hello alan loved your goal against everton.

eds i think mecca know how we fans would react on this page by saying MAJOR SIGNING so i think he would mean a munian kaka or falco so who do u think it might be just try guess i dont care what any one think but your opinion matter to me

Kaka is not a major signing, hes past his best.

31 Jul 2012 19:23:36
Imagine if DIC had taken over a few years ago and backed rafa! I rekon the team would look like this and would have been playing in a 60000 seater stanley park
25
Reina
2. 4. 5. 3
Alves. Kompany. Agger. Alba
20. 6
Mascherano. Barry
8.
Gerrard
7. 11
Silva. 9 Jovetic
Torres

All players Rafa was linked with and if was backed properly could have been great!

Barry instead of lucas U MAD

Yeah he also paid 20 mil for Aquallani and didnt he sign reira, ngog and dossena

When I was a boy if my dad had bought me the Adidas preditors that I really needed I could have been great. Now I'm fat an play in goal because no1 can get it round me. Move on

Didnt DIC have major financial dificulties?

Yeah...great, they are bust!

Paul mc

But still no xabi alonso

Didn't DIC go bankrupt? Worse scenario than Hicks and Gillett there pal.

BthekingB

He bid 10m for villa but Hicks and Gillete refused to meet Valencias 13m asking price.

Oh my god, you people are starting to get me to actually dislike rafa. he was great for us but he signed carp as well. he also proboly would've fallen out with half of the squad by now so we would have no one. please move on. rodgers had the lowest squad investment in the EPL and had swansea mid-table. moyes also does it consistently with everton too. what is your point.

Hey so im friends with a barcelona player i will not name and he told me that Villa is the loan player and that the reason he is coming is because when Suarez leaves Torres will come back.

P.S. i made that up just like all these other persons, just wait for the end of the window before you complain about our lack of spending.

I don't believe you are making this up, I think you made up the making it up rumour.

Hope we make money on the Torres deal.

How original...yawn.....

31 Jul 2012 18:54:18
I do not understand ...if someone wants to pay 20 million for Carroll ..this is his value , with this 20 million we can buy another player valued at 20 million .....we lost money when he was brought not his fault ...ours .....lets see what he can do under Brendan before we spend say 20 million on dzecko or another maybe not going to make it striker .....i think we need to be behind our squad and owners not on their backs after all we are lfc ...i don't think we can get better than Carroll for 20 million but somebody has to cross the ball for him and play a bit for him
.....

How did we lose money when we bought Carroll?

You may remember the club had new owners who had written off all but 30 ish milllion of debt.
Torres was sold for 50 million and Babel was sold for 11 million. That's a positive balance of 31 million. For that 31 million we would have to pay tax in April. So Suarez was bought and Carroll was bought, putting us back to being in debt and therefore not having to pay tax on positive balance.
We effectively sold Babel and Torres for the same as we bought Suarez and Carroll.
What's the problem? Are you the club's accountant or something? What does anyone care about how much money we're making, so long as it doesn't impact on the team or threaten the club's existence it is totally irrelevant.

Why is he worth £20 million? That is a lot of money for a top striker never mind an off form one. You are stuck with him unless you drop your asking price by £10 million.

A football club should not be the same as a business in terms of amount of high profit or loss

31 Jul 2012 18:53:59
Maybe the "loan star" really means Lone Star as in Texas as in Clint Dempsey. Trying to crack the code...... Ed02 your good a cryptic right?

Good thinking, but not him on loan though...

By the same token, it could be Brek Shea - highly sought after and born in Texas, like Dempsey. I think i'd prefer Shea if i'm honest...

He also used the word major... MLS (yeah an i kno he doesn't play there) however that's American terminology!

I have watched Brek Shea a few times now and I personally would not like to see him at Liverpool.

Nailed on then

Brek Shea is useless.

Hello Fellow Reds

I don't understand all this negativity over transfer policy?

In the past we have been personic when doing our dealings and as such chairman like Lerner and Oyston got massive amounts of money of us for average quality players.
I for one take it as a good sign we have not spent 100+ million in July as it shows a new approach of 'think before we spend'.
On a similar note I believe AC and LS could be sold for the right amounts (£20mil and £25+mil respectivley). Both have shown no desire for pressing football which BR advocates strongly and for £45mil we could almost certainly find 2 strikers who would maybe score more than 15 goals between them. Suarez personally missed a lot of chances last year with wasteful finishing and stupid long range efforts. At many of the games I watched he missed at least 2 you would have probably seen Van Persie, Aguero or even Danny Graham score. (I know he hit the post a lot but its the same size for everyone).
Adding to that missing 8 games in a stupid ban that has turned a lot of the public against this once popular club. I believe he is a talented player but should have his price and is far from the new mesiah a lot of fans make him out to be. (probably due to a lack of true flair players in our squad which I believe BR will rectify).
Carroll I think may come good, but only a team set up to his strengths. I doubt BR will want to play a constant long ball game and our crosses last season were dire to say the least. Adding to that the fact that, until the last month of the season, he also showed no aptitude for tackling back and again he must have his price, and for the sake of his own career, should probably be looking elsewhere (even if only on loan to demonstrate his talents).

I fully support BR and hope he pulls us into the 21st century at last. The modern game is about slick passing and quick tactical changes. I think he can do this and early signs (such as not being held to ransom over Sigs wages) are good. Personally I would like to see Allen, Sinclair, A Right-Winger who doesn't imediatly lose the ball and a quick goal-poaching type player added to what I believe is a decent team spine. I also think a new GK could be benefical as Renia looked like he didn't want to be here all last season.

So lets support BR and do what we do best and provide that 12th man we may well need. A new era is dawning and I for one am excited about being part of it!

Red-David-26

P.S for my guess the 'Star' is either Villa or Tevez...

Luis suarez is staying from a good info, + he was our best player last year, the way you think mate carry on thinking like that every year.

Stopped reading when you said that Suarez has no desire for pressing football.

Nick

Excellent post Red-David...

Stevie.

Good post. I agree Suarez is not the saviour people want him to be. Just a talented player but with a big attitude and work rate issue. Don't want him to go but agree he has his price. Probably around 32 million.

Yeah BR does not look the sort to change his style to fit AC or LS. A good price for both should be considered. AC especially but maybe just loan him for a season to showcase his talents rather than sit on our bench and angering the club by taking big wages.

So what your saying is ,Suarez is worth 5 m more than carroll.

I dont understand all this negativity towards our best player and one of the most talented footballers in the world...but hey!!!

JOZLFC

Suarez not up for pressing football? You lost me there. I was of the understanding that he had one of the highest stats for winning the ball in the forward line. Maybe I am making stuff up but from watching, I would have thought he was very strong in this area.

Andy K

Suarez has a price but you cannot doubt his effort. it actually gives me shivers (the god kind) for what BR can do with 40 million considering what he did with under 10 million with swansea.
derryred

Suarez would fit into BRs football philosophy well. The original poster clearly is blind, stupid and...a manc. Jealous cos they don't want him turning over their defence again!

31 Jul 2012 18:53:34
if city offer us 16 million + johnson we should take it. i love agger, i think he's top notch. but if they're stupid enough to make that kind of bid for a DEFENDER then we should take it. buy kjear as a replacement. if we then buy ramirez, and dempsey (3 million +adam) we'd have a great team. to top it off, offer 10 million + aquillani for jovetic. that would be a great team and definitely top 4 finish.

Man I like the way you talk I did similar dealing in PES and had a great liverpool team there ,so I wish something like this will happen and we win the league
red316

Yes man, you have the right idea. Then add 4m + Sama for Beckenbauer and 1m + the kit manager for Maradona and we'll win everything in the world.

Wow
Three swap deals including us palming off our two ugly daughters in return for two beauties. Move over Mr Ayre and let this feller have a go. {Ed049's Note -

If you think that a defender is suce a useless position then you clearly have no clue about football. imagine if city sold kompany in a deal for pato for example, they would've lost their inspirational captain to replace him with an injury prone striker.

with brendan saying what he has today i think its highly unlikely there will be any deals done by the end of this week, i'm starting to get very impatiant with it all.

But to be fair theres only 3 weeks left to the start of the season and ony chelsea and p.s.g have really got going in the market which is a bit strange

Big Dan

Most business will be done after the Olympics, Dan mate. Selling clubs will be hoping their players have a good tournament and stick a few mill, on their value.

Makes sense, dosnt it?

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

All he did really was keep his council and say that a lot of hardwork is going on behind the scenes. Truth is we have no idea as to when deals will be completed so just sit back and enjoy the ride. As long as BR gets the players he is after whats the
worry?

Ian the red

I dont disagree with you however I think there will be a chain reaction i.e. someone big will move that creates cash for the seller who then buys someone else with the cash etc. The last few weeks will be madness I think. Or maybe it will be a very conservative window. Time will tell.

Andy K

Trouble is Blair it doesn't always work out like that, for instance Cavani's performances would not have helped the 100 million Euro's Napoli are after! But on the good side, it might have put clubs of bidding for Suarez

MR EM

31 Jul 2012 18:17:21
oN Gaston Ramirez;

LFC won't pay Bologna's asking price. LFC want to get him on cheap which I believe would be a very difficult job. His agent very much in talks with LFC reps. Player wants the move. MCFC & Spurs behind LFC in Ramirez's preferred destination. He wants to be along with Luis & Coates.

Though the situation is in our favour if we play our balls failure to tie up a deal or sort out the situation soon could see Ramirez being snatched away from us.

SPurs is pretty keen on him and is their no. 1 target to replace Modric.

Cheers
Armando

In my opinion the most important transfer is to replace our owners with new ones who can afford liverpool rather then be burden to our great club or else won't take time to be mid table team every year is getting harder and harder to get in top4 and at the same time we are getting weaker and weaker compare to our rivals remember more then 20 years without league title 3 years without champions league if today our rivals tell us we are mid table team would you disagree their is no difference between liverpool or aston villa or everton coz they buy cheap we buy cheap they buy pontential we buy pontential they finish mid table we finish mid table then how can we compete in highest level or our owners still don't understand about liverpool. As a fan I find lack of ambition and plz don't tell me to support another club. Coz I am really hurt

Worried red

Could be worse mate, We could have the Glazers.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Well said Blair, just been reading at the right old mess te Glaziers have got themselves and United in!

I'm so glad we have sensible owners and minimal debt, unfortunately that means some so called fans will bemoan about the football, squad etc..

Think we need to be grateful we are talking about football issues only!

YNWA jns

I would rather be debt free and watch those around us crumble in these tough financial times, than sign cavani for 40M and munian for 45M for them to leave two years later because citeh are paying 400k a week.

Blair as a chelsea fan have got sympathy for liverpool but at the same time theirs no doubt that money makes big difference brfore Roman Abramovich we were in similiar position but now we have won epl,fa cup carling cup champion league if you fans continue to defend your owners I promise you will turn in to mid table team forever I can't see liverpool finishing in top4 without spending big in my opinion you fans are taking very easy all the best for season

Chelsea forever

No, the best transfer we could make is getting persons like you away from our club.

BthekingB

I really have no idea why people are always being so negative on the owners.

They bought the club and largely wiped out the debt.

They appointed a club legend largely to appease the fans. Didn't work out, unfortunately, but not their fault.

They've spent quite a fair amount on players in (what, roughly £140M or so?). Sure, a good chunk of that came from sales, but they didn't have to spend that money did they? They could have easily kept it instead of having to come out of pocket to cover the clubs losses (which continue even 2 years after their purchase).

They've brought in several significant sponsorship deals to try and bolster revenue and even though the club is still losing money, didn't increase ticket prices this season.

They're still carefully evaluating new stadium/expansion plans and are trying to do what is best for the club in the long term rather than saddling it with yet more debt with little value in return.

As Blair says, would you prefer the Glazers? Owners who sell 10% of the club in an IPO, while promising to use the proceeds to pay off debt largely accrued during their acquisition but where now it appears they are instead going to be pocketing a good chunk of that? Or how about owners like those of Cardiff City who are scrapping their traditions and history? Or perhaps you would prefer Venkys? They've been awesome for Blackburn surely. Oh, I know, we need a wealthy Sheikh. Like that guy that owns Malaga cause that's working out swimmingly.

Quit complaining, whining and moaning already about the owners otherwise one day they may just decide they've had enough of losing money and being berated for it and decide to sell to someone far, far, less pleasant.

RDL

It could be worse. We could be Everton. Getting all excited about signing a player who couldn't get out quick enough a couple of years ago.

To those of you who are still taken in by FSG, by their own admission, their policy is to buy young with a sell on value. Think about that - their vision for Liverpool FC is to create an English Ajax, a team that produces young players to be sold so they can win trophies for other clubs.

Is that what we really want for our great club? If you're still not convinced, they may not have promised a spade in the ground in 60 days, but there certainly hasn't been one, has there?

redmersey

Blair mate so you accept we are mid table team and be greatfull to our owners who don't want to spend their own money to make liverpool competitive and expect meracals to happen.
Mate Can you name 4/5 teams who compete in highest level and they are self-sufficient plz mate

Kop

You need to make a stand mate. LFC haven't won the league for 20 years, it's gonna have a knock on affect, I'm not happy about it any less than you but It's either get behind LFC the club & look after the books - or hug a sugar daddy & pray they'll stick around. I'm down with the first option, it's classier.

dd

Spot on mate when they bought us I was very very happy and thought after hicks/gillet saga we were going to compete not only for top4 but even for league title which is very important for every liverpool fan but unfortunately nothing changed on the pitch and now I have understood never sale your club to yanks coz they don't understand the passion for the game or fans in epl they are 4/5 yanks who owns the club and they are disliked by their fans just ask aston villa(randy lerner) or machester united(glazers) they are poisonous for the game

Sad kop

The biggest worry for the future of Liverpool to me is the fans. I assume that the OP is young and therefore only has a limited time period to reference any of the going ons against. Relax dude, outside of a few non-football gaffs, I dont think the owners have done too much wrong so far and I dont really care too much about that. As long as they get the football right, balance the books and set us up for the future, they are doing their jobs. Are we as supporters doing ours?

Andy K

Our owners said from the start Chelsea forever mate. That they wanted to make the club self sustainable, that is going to take a couple of years. We are running at a loss but still we are trying to buy players. I'm starting to get a bit impatient with the redevelopment of Anfield or a new build.

Need some word soon the natives are getting restless.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

They've only had 18 months in charge kop mate. To early to make a judgement on them. This time next year if we don't have news on redevelopment or a new build, then I'll be worried.

If we buy Joe Allen along with Borini we would have spent 26 mill without selling anyone. Seeing as our club is running at a loss, atm the owners have not give me reason for concern.

The news I'm waiting on more than any transfer. Is news of a new build or redevelopment.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

What do you lot want? FSG are simply NOT going to spend the kind of money Abramovic and the Sheikh are quite simply because they don't have it. How hard is that to understand? FSG is a consortium of investors, not a single person, and they would likely never get approval as a 'company' to throw hundreds of millions of £s into the transfer market on something that will likely make absolutely no return.

If there is someone on this board who happens to a be a multi-billionaire and dislikes the current owners, please step forward and buy the club and by all means burn as much money as you wish on the club! I can guarnatee you something like £600M would do the trick and they would be happily on there way back to America. If there were someone out there with that kind of money who wanted LFC, they would already have it. Since it hasn't happened, we have to be make do with what we have and support the club rather than moan and whine about how other people have richer owners. Boo hoo, it's so unfair!

How do you think Everton/Stoke/Sunderland/etc supporters feel watching us crying about the fact that we've "only" spent ~£130M on players in the last couple of years?

Blair mate I don't understand liverpool owners plan if they want to stop bleeding the loss then let's say buy 3/4 stars in order to qualify for champions league pontentialy they will get 30/40 million then other money from group stages at the same time liverpool progressing fast and fans will be happy coz can't see new build or rebuild anfield without champions league income

Chelsea forever

Hello ed's
Just something that everyone needs to realise is if suso and sterling was in the first team they would hardly play every week and worst case they could get a nasty injury that would set back there career keeping them in reserves makes sense regularly footy and a few games with the first team.

Y.n.w.a

31 Jul 2012 17:57:41
hi eds if there were 3 players u could sign who would they be and for how much, need to know all the gossip {Ed002's Note - That is not gossip, it is more "when you are flying high on the orange sunshine who would you spend you fantasy money on". Allen, Dempsey and and a loan of Falcao.}

Would love to see Falcao in a red shirt, quality player.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Ed you are such a teaser.. got me drooling now. You god. ha ha ha. keep up the good work. x

31 Jul 2012 17:43:20
Am i the only one that wouldnt mind losing agger?pesonally i think since carra lost his starting place our defending has gone down hill they seem better going forward than defending. Id swap him for micah richards and use coates. The strongest person defending set pieces end of last season was carrol lol

Would love Richards at Liverpool but i don't think its on the cards, really hope i'm wrong though. One great young up and coming center back that's not been mentioned is Sakho, he could become 4th choice at PSG next season so would surely be looking for a move away, iv'e read Arsenal have shown an interest but could they guarantee first team football. Ed do you think Sakho to Liverpool is an option?

always a red

Richards and Coates - that would keep Hansen busy on MOTD for months!

Yes, you are the only one mate. Agger is quality, much better than coates. Richards is good but is not as good at centre back, and we have Johnno at right-back, so bad idea..

Micah Richards has the turning circle of an oil tanker.

Agger is our classiest defender since Hansen. There is no other defender in the game who is as comfortable on the ball as him.

JRG

I would be really interested in seeing how many goals per game with conceeded with Daniel and Martin as apposed to Jamie and either. I would think we conceeded more with Jamie. Also the loss of Lucas left the backline exposed so maybe these stats are not comparing apples and apples. Give me Martin and Daniel any day.

Andy K

Micah Richards is an oil tanker..
Olipool

Aggeer best defender since Hansen lol oh dear u may be forgetting - Hyypia, Carragher, Skrtyll, Jones to name a few

Wasn't our defence last season the only reason why we reached 8th?
after Lucas got injured our defence got no help from midfield and Reina wasn't even great in goal...

31 Jul 2012 17:29:24
Joe Allen and Dempsey deals are pretty much done deals at this stage. Tello should be an LFC player soon also. Tello and LFC want permanent deal but Barca reluctant to do a deal without a buy back clause. Buy back fee is all that is holding any deal up.

31 Jul 2012 17:20:25
Hi ed just been reading through is it true we are signing a star player on loan? Any idea who it could be? And would there be a chance of signing them at the end of the season? Thanks tommy b {Ed002's Note - Read further man.}

31 Jul 2012 17:03:04
just my opinion ..but if Liverpool are to finish in the top 4 next season , they,ll be needing to sign at least 5 or 6 players ,thats including Borini , so 5 More needed . I think Andy Carroll should be kept , i think its stupid to loan him out to another club for a season ...we might as well keep him unless where been offer 20 m plus cah for him and that cash is needed for new signings.. they should keep Caroll and bring in Dempsey .. can play midfield or forward and wont cost as much as some players will ..and he has alot of premier league expierience ,, was the best midfielder in the Premier league last year .. finished first ahead of david silva ..Dempseys been one of the best preformers in the Premier league for the last 3 seasons well worth 8 - 10 million even if we only got 2 or 3 good seasons from him.. better than downing adam and henderson all put together .

31 Jul 2012 16:57:00
Eds, who do you expect to be coming in during pre season? Are we shopping in Tesco (Gaitan, Ramirez, Amorebieta) or Netto (Dempsey, Allen, any other Swansea player) {Ed002's Note - A mix.}

We go we're the bargains are. Actually 35 mil for Carroll we shop in marks and get aldi produce

This isn't just any transfer window!

We should be in Waitrose!

31 Jul 2012 16:54:58
I don't think we will sell him.. He is a future star..

But to the poster saying riots, liverpool fans don't do riots, they support the team through thick and thin..

So Liverpool fans weren't burning effigies of Steven Gerrard when he almost signed for Chelsea that year?

Lfc media watch, all Dempsey rumours removed... Don't know if it means anything but I belive someone said the same thing just befor Borini came to us...

OxRed

They actually took the Dempsey stuff down quite a while ago now. IMO this may be more LFC burying all the news to try and help us get over the NESN debacle.

31 Jul 2012 16:34:20
the loan player will be Theo Walcott and Liverpool will have the option to buy him at the end of next season if they wish so. THE TRUTH

I quote: major star signing on loan. So it's not Walcott.

Walcott's contract expires at the end of this season, so no chance of loan. Redevon

So they'll have the option to buy him when his contract has ran out...THE TRUTH that is not

Lol 1 year left on his contract and you think Arsenal would loan him to us!!

He has just one year left on contract. Why do LFC need to pay when he is out of contract next year.. Think before you post!!

Chaki

Wow, you're telling us we can buy him next yr, when in fact he will be out of contract.

Not fit to wear the shirt 1 dimensional runner should be at London 2012!

We can't even get a decent loaner

Muff

Why would we buy him when he will be out of contract?? C'mon you can make up better scrap than this!

They'll have the option to buy him next year when his contract had expired? That's very generous of arsenal

He is out of contract at the end of the season that will basically be like aresenal giving him away are you serious!!

Why would we loan him for a year and buy him when his contract is up in a year. Who will we buy him off !! Stop posting rubbish mate jaffer 81

Ah yes, buy a player next summer who would be available for free next summer if this happened. Fool.

Rafa's Purple Goatie

The truth hey.. dose this mean he will sign a new contract before the end of the season as he is in the last year as far as I know... man seriously I'm sure you will sign under a different name after that one.. pure crap... eds how can this get through lol

Quigz23 {Ed002's Note - I have no idea - it seems to be clutching at straws.}

Actually, I believe his contract is up at the end of the coming season, so I doubt I this very much.

davethebutcher

Isn't he out of contract next season?

THE TRUTH is that he will be out of contract next summer. DOH.

Well, that would be an option I hope to God we don't exercise!

31 Jul 2012 16:34:06
Just wondering why we havent shown interest in Victor Moses, at about 7.5 million(reportedly Chelsea to offer) seems like not a bad deal, we need a right sided player with pace, I know he isnt a glamourous name like others but is a realistic player for a realistic price!, and nobody can say that no one else wants him if Chelsea do. Just cant see where he fits in at Chelsea to be honest. If anybody watched him against us last year you can see what he can do, especially at the DW, he scared us to death with his direct running(scored 7 goals last season also) which considering Wigan hardly scored any is some mean feat! Thoughts anyone, got to be better than Sinclair surely?
John Wigan

Wigan want 10 million for him and have said he wont go for a penny less.

Moses has no end product.. Similar price we can get better players from abroad.

Chaki

We have sterling who can easily be better than him in a few seasons.
derryred

Funny thing is dempsey costs £10+mill but he's 29 has about 2 or 3 seasons left and is not going to be able to replicate last season what so ever. Moses did really well for Wigan has bags of potential costs £10 mill and is 22 (not sure but he's still very young) and wait am I forgetting something...oh yes he's a WINGER...something we've needed since January.

Because he's not very good. Di matteo likes him for some reason. {Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with RDM.}

He will go for a lot less, stupid Wigan will lose out, contracts up next year and come January he can talk to any club he wants

What do you mean moses has no end product he give us the ten commandments for goodness sake. {Ed003's Note - lol}

Resource data management?

Just wondering who can you buy for similar that is better from abroad? Why this obsession with glamorous names, that probably most havent seen! Plus we need somebody now not in 2 years, so when Sterling is ready(which he isnt now) we can sell if we wanted and make the money back, as he will only be 25. And for those who say he isnt very good obviously havent seen him play, you just needed to watch the 2 games against us last year, he ripped us apart!!

We never really replaced Torres with another goal scorer.
Borini is promising but still young and a risky option for us.

Hello eds and informed readers,
What team do you expect we'll field tomorrow night at Gomel? I hope that we are looking to win this game, so I am wonderin g what the make-up of the team will look like.

My guess would be

Reina (as he is only back and will need game time)
Johnson (the same)
one of skrtel or agger with maybe danny wilson
Robinson

Lucas
Shelvey Gerrard

Suarez Borini Sterling

This would be my guess I think players from the euros will feature along with some young players looking to get first team action this season..

Shanek Lfc

Hopefully it will be our reserves as we don't play Gomel until Thursday lol

Red4Ever

Suarez is at the olympics

My guess would be:
Gulasci
Kelly Skrtel Wilson Enriqe
Henderson Suso Shelvey
Sterling Borini Cole
A blend of youth and experience and should be capable of getting a result in Belorus.

Bob

Clearly not an "Informed" poster as the game is on Thursday night

No suarez who's in olympics with coates cos theyre playing on wednesday

Saurez????????????

Suarez allowed the day off from Olympics is he?

I dont think Suarez will be able to play 2 games in 2 days in 2 different countries ..

.....Gerrard ..... Shelvey
Downing ............. Pacheco
...............Borini

Suarez is still at the Olympics.

Suarez, really?

Just so you know, its on thursday not tomorrow.
I don't want you to make the same error i made waiting til the middle of the night to watch the roma game one night early the other week

hiya eds whats all this talk about skrtle agger saurez leaving why dont we sell gerrard reina our 5 european cups our league championships etc etc and just close the doors behind us.We really need to be buying at least 2 x 30m pound players to compete at the higher level all this potential crap is no good we need quality liverpool type players who are going to give 100% every game not some kid who might be good in a couple of years i thought that was what the academy was for.we have to keep saurez agger and skrtle and with reina and gerrard make this the spine of the team and build around them.

Go and support City or Chelsea then.....

Yeah coz snapping up 30million pound players is the way forward. It worked for chelsea's eh? Only took them 10years or so to win a champions league.

Imo these 30million pound players were all valued at 10million at somepoint. I hope rodgers is the man to find them. Who knows. He may have already signed one(borini)

Go and support City or Chelsea then.....

======================
What do nt you go, or skip the post or even reply with something constructive and show him he was wrong.
I am fed up with these personic posts claiming to be a better supporter than someone who have every right to criticize and express his frustration if he/she wishes to.Its nobs like you who probably know little about football and Liverpool FC , and have little intelligence than to copy someone else lines.
If it was n't for critical posts and fans expressing their dis-satisfaction then G and H might have completely ruined our club and Roy Hodgson may still be managing us in the championship.
I dont care if the original poster is right or wrong, but it was not abusive, its not derogatory and to me it shows passion for the club, someone who want us back at the top, and they have every right to express it in this open forum.
Roy

These 30million pound players were all promising youngsters at some stage and valued at much less than 1 million at some point. I hope that Brendan is the man to coach players like Suso, Morgan, Sterling, Pacheco, Coady, Borini find them. Who to become 30 million pound players. Let's hope he is!

Stop talkin garbage!do you think the price of a player makes him better,i honestly think in only puts more pressure on them(andy carroll for an example)we dont need players with top prices just top quallity.so think before you get on here and start writing crap...

Wanted Siggurdson,
>> Said he had to be interested, that changed when the price wasn't right

Signs Borini,
>> Boy looks a proper footy player. Goal Scorer.

Public hawking of Carroll
>> Nope, he never did, the media did. He said he give him a chance

Wanting rid of Aqualani

>> Quality player, and will make the transition to BR's style so much easier for us

Wants Dempsey.
>> Quality player. Scored 23 goals in 46 games for Fulham last year. From midfield. how many did our midfield score?

Adam and Spearing looking likely BR first team players.
>> Why? Because they played parts of some pre-season games? Spearing is a squad player, and a good squad player. Adam was one of the few senior players available for those games.

Or alternatively

Three high wage 30 something's who aren't first- teamers leave
New manager shows resolve by refusing to pay more in fee and wages than an Icelandic player is worth
Signs young Italian international who he knows will bring goal threat and work rate to his forward line
Shows balls by being willing to move clubs poor-performing record signing on
Identifies a player who uses ball intelligently and who he knows inside out as a better bet than Charlie Adam
Wants a player who was one of Prem League top scores last season and a player who works his socks off and who is more likely to deliver in a red shirt than half the names bandied about by the FM crowd
Will probably move Spearing and Adam on over next year or so - he can hardly sell everyone and you can't sell these two unless someone bids for them and thy haven't
Correctly realises Suso has a lot of developing to do before he's ready for proper first team football unlike the persons on here
Correctly said every player has his price because the likes of Agger, Skrtel, Reina and Suarez might fancy getting off. Let's face it three of hem have hung around and been told the future will be better when it wasn't. So if they want to go they can - for the right price which is just what our manager said.

Apart from all that you didnt miss anything Tudor.

Hi I know the Ed's like us to use the search function but everyday the situation with players seems to change. I think in terms of realistic signings they are (And im not saying we are gonna sign all these just who are realistic contenders):
1) Allen
2) Dempsey
3) Sinclair
4) Ramirez
5) Rondon
6) Affeley
7) Munian

Munian/Rondon would be if Big Andy C goes which I hope he doesnt as I can see him being lethal next season.

31 Jul 2012 15:33:04
Anymore about the rumour doing the rounds that Suarez is against Sterlings call up to first team squad? Who is going to be the back up LB this year?

That is obviously a man united fans frail attempt at a joke.

Jack Robinson back up left back. Enrique starter. Redevon

Think about it. It's obviously a Man Utd fan on a wind up. Or a bitter.

Why does everyone harp on about Simon Kjaer? From what I have seen of him, he has been distinctly average, and neither Wolfsburg or Roma seem to want to keep him. What makes everyone think that he's good enough for us?

Brian from Birmingham

Hes deffo not good enough!!

Maybe like with Skrtel, Agger provides a calming influence and helps bring the best out of Kjaer

HI EDS.
Could Demba Ba be the major loan signing? I hope not.
Thanks.

EJ {Ed002's Note - I would think not.}

31 Jul 2012 14:32:19
The Loan Signing is Nuri Sahin but this will only happen if the Joe Allen deal does not go ahead. However I understand that Swansea are now reluctantly willing to let him go. Fee of 12.5 million with 2.5 million add ons expected to be accepted.

31 Jul 2012 14:27:41
Agger will be going to barca city no this hence the bids
To try and hijack it

im seeing reports that the "loan" could be Nuri Sahin. It seems feasable, but what do the eds think and do yu think he would be a good addition to the team?

Great Site

Sahin would be a fantastic addition, but if the rumours of a loan player are true I'd rather we focused on a getting a goalscorer in.

Still waiting for any interesting news about Liverpool fc, an ageing and tired Steven gerrard will be hoping for the cavalry to come and rescue liverpool from another struggle. He wants to have great cup finals in europe and domestic glory days in a red shirt before he retires, like the old masters of some Italian giant team. Unfortunately this team lacks goals and he won't be seeing 5 experienced quality top players coming in, Allen will give us few goals, dempsey and borini will not deliver enough goals, Liverpool may also need to replace Bellamy Carroll maxi and kuyts goals, if this is the case Liverpool must break all records to bag a winner or two. Otherwise with that team they need to play the Benitez way and nick 1-0 Home wins against marauding tottenham type teams.

Im sick listenin to u moaners who say they (support) liverpool support means exactly that support !!! we have been tro worst time in re hist so can we stop all the negative crap

Just wait 4 a season or two. Hendo under RB will be a complete new player.. If RB STAYS THAT LONG.ovious he would be doing some hardwork, goodwork if he realy does. Then for sure the lads shelvay-hendo would be a force.

31 Jul 2012 14:37:27
Ed mate what do you think of our owners in your honest opinion coz we are one of the biggest club in world football we need lots of investmet to compete in highest level 3 years without champions league which is not good enough for club like liverpool do you think they are not rich as some of us think so will take few years thanks mate for the site and your time

Reality red {Ed001's Note - the point is that they are trying to run the club self-sufficiently, to build up income, to allow for a bigger investment. No point them throwing money at us, we would just end up like Pompey or Birmingham or Rangers. We simply do not have the kind of income needed to compete, and they can't afford to try and outspend City, no one can. The only thing that can be done is to build a long term stable future for the club.}

Spot on ed well said, jay essex red

So why did they buy liverpool if they cant compete

Im glad they did no as if there was a crowd of people willing to take over

They bought the club because they were looking for such a project to invest in. We're a famous club with a massive fan base and have good potential to become a real success story for them. They're new to football and they were prepared to find their feet and take a gamble on Kenny and his signings last season. I'm glad they did, even though it didn't work out. Now they're going about things in a different style and not going for the populist approach. Good on 'em. I get the feeling that they're not the type of people to walk away from this accepting failure.

Square Red

No one send the couldnt 'compete' in its own right, only that we couldnt compete with City in reference to transfer fees and wages. No one can. By your logic then no one should buy or own a club. A bit silly me thinks. There are many ways to skin a cat and building a strong foundation is the first step. I believe this is what the owners are doing.

I have it on good authority that the loan signing is none other than Lionel Messi. Come on! we have been linked with nearly everyone. Where are the wingers we have so desperately needed all these years. I want Ramirez, about time we had a wonder kid.

31 Jul 2012 15:12:03
I have a couple of question for u ed:
1) Do u think agger will leave? I would be gutted coz he is the best cb we have at the moment.
2) Any chance the star signing on loan could be Alexis sanchez? barca r not too impressed with his lack of consistency, but he would definitely improve our squad.
3) is bellamy on his way out?
Indian Buzzer {Ed005's Note - I personally don't think he will leave as he is content to stay. If City offer mega-money I could see that changing. I'm not totally sure who this signing could be in all honesty.}

31 Jul 2012 15:04:23
hi eds i just want to rule out some players according to my source. The loan player will not be villa because barca need him this season kaka is off to milan sahin off to arsenal so who else is left eds?

hope you reply

31 Jul 2012 15:02:01
I know its been done to death but the only logical loan signing i can see is Nuri Sahin from Madrid! Touted as one of the best young prospects in the game only last year had a bad season in Madrid with injuries and only started 2 La Liga games. He's creative and chips in with the odd goal and he's still pretty young!?!? Villa and Kaka deffo wont be coming near us aren't they both on over 150k a week!?!?! Even with a percentage paid by there club it would still be quite a hefty wage to dish out on players who are coming into there twilight years!?!?! Just a thought!

31 Jul 2012 14:56:08
We must play VERY hard with any team looking to buy agger, for me its 20m plus a top player so from barca i'd like us to demand something like 20m plus Villa, 20m plus affely and tello or 28m alone. We can't let ourselves be robbed of our best defender for a small amount. If they dont stump up a huge offer we should not even entertain an offer!

31 Jul 2012 14:55:42
Eds,Tried looking online but couldnt find a definate answer... Is there a limit to how many players we could have on loan? thanks

JOZLFC {Ed005's Note - I think there is for English clubs but not totally sure, think it's 3 or 4.}

It is four but we should never reach that as a top team

31 Jul 2012 14:54:15
To all the moaners and groaners out there, listen skrtel and agger are not going to leave. BR has said skrtel is fully commited; "I had a good feeling after I spoke to him. He is very committed to the cause. He has made it very clear that he wants to be here, fighting and working to make the club better."

And we all know agger has said he is very happy after the euros and has stated he will not go to a club who are liverpool's rivals.

So please stop the negativity, the transfer window is meant to be a time full of excitement but half the so called "supporters" are slating BR. Be patient and supportive and then make your judgements!

Cheers

Why not chop in agga for 7mil as long as the rest is two players micha richards and adam jonson

Heard LFC had a £16m bid rejected by Bologne for Ramirez over the weekend, they want more and are waiting for the Olympics to finish, negotiations continue?

Funny that, heard the exact same thing by that Footballagent dude on twitter.

31 Jul 2012 14:03:37
2 players in by the time GB return from the Olympics. 2 out and 1 loan player in. That will complete our business this summer it would seem. I am looking forward to a different look to Liverpool. Roll on aug 18!

31 Jul 2012 13:47:14
I will be absolutely gutted if Agger leaves. Hes a class act. If we were to sell a defender i hope it would be Skrtel. As we could get over 20mil for him and replacement in Kjaer for less then 10mil. Not that i want him to leave but just an alternative. Agger offers more to a game and i think this Tika-Taka football from the back wud suit him down to the ground. Would I be right in saying a couple of weeks ago Agger said he was happy at the club and is looking forward to Rogers plans and regime?
TRueRed

I seriously hope both of them stay. I don't want any changes in defence (apart from Coates being 3rd choice in place of Carra). Alot of people state Skrtel can be replaced but I feel it took seasons to develop that Agger Skrtel partnership, no point in breaking it now. Also Skrtel is almost a regular for all games rarely misses any through injury.

hi eds, is it possible that the "star" loan signing could be one of the young brazilian lads that are playing at the olympics but are belonging to a club in brazil? i.e. ganso, lucas moura, leandro damiao, neymar? the kind of deal that brought tevez and mascherano to west ham all those years ago.. any chance? jayo {Ed023's Note - I don't think Liverpool would want to involve themselves in a deal like the West Ham one}

31 Jul 2012 13:03:25
big loan signing. for some reason id thought about ballotelli a couple of weeks ago. also kaka , after another poster was saying swe would get a brazilian. the only other brazilian to me , would be pato. im sure one of the eds, cant remember which one sorry, said " a certain spanish striker" most would think villa , but maybe , just maybe , torres ! on the joe allen transfer , i watched him play for gb in both games . good touch etc , but i thought lacked pace off the mark , not 15 million in my opinion, good not that good. steviep62

31 Jul 2012 13:46:10
Aquilani leaving (as i said) should speed up the Allen transfer. Dempsey gone quiet for now mates.

I think 15 ids way too much for Allen. There's far better players out there for that price.

Honda.
Ramirez.
Gaitan.

If we do get Kaka as the loan deal would we need Allen? Not really. That money could be used so much better.

Jonesred

Who are you?

Just about everyone on the site has said that Aquilani is leaving so that's no claim to fame.

It`s a copy & paste from Twitter... Dunc Jenkins, I think.

Matty p

I heard 12.5 mil for allen

When will people get it - transfer fees arent as relevant for young players as contracts are! Players have a re sale value but high wages are the reason LFC don't go for certain players! If Allen costs 15m but is on 30 k a week on a 5 year deal then that's a good deal if he costs 10m but is on 80k a week 5 year deal then that's a more expensive deal almost an extra 13m in wages over 5 year - I know the figures I've used are random but it shows the initial fee isn't the problem it's the wages!

31 Jul 2012 13:37:20
Hi Ed, I know it is unsure what we would find an acceptable price for Agger, but if City did offer 17M plus Tevez on loan for the season (Tevez being someone who would fit exactly into Rodgers mould of player) This could be the star loan signing everyone is talking about. Would you see this as a possibility and if you are not sure what would be your perception on this particular deal? {Ed023's Note - I don't see Liverpool doing any deal with Man City for Agger or Tevez. Agger said he wouldn't play with another club in England, I trust him to stay true to his word.}

Really happy to hear that Ed.

31 Jul 2012 13:06:17
Even though Carroll is going on loan, assuming Macca's right and a loan deal is on the cards, and probably a striker coming in that means Carroll still has a future with us and we are willing to wait for him to come good. There might be a clause to sign the 'star' player permanently if Carroll isn't up to the club's standards at the end of this season. In my opinion this is would be smart business. Of course this might not actually happen due to conflicting reports from Sky and BBC and Macca said it was a good chance not a certain signing on loan
JK

31 Jul 2012 13:02:06
Macca has said there is a 'good chance', not we are definitely getting a star on loan, hate to be a killjoy but Kaka/Villa may not be at Anfield next year

Don't worry our owners are going to get one or two for liverpool coz they are very very ambition

Yanks

31 Jul 2012 13:27:10
Star play on loan should be Ballotelli

31 Jul 2012 13:26:01
Ed do think any signings will happen this week,we got a new manager with new tactics n the season is just round the corner ,surely we need the new players in quick so Rogers can get them used to how we gonna play, {Ed029's Note - I expect there to be some movement in and out possibly by the weekend or early next week}

31 Jul 2012 13:22:20
Jon Flanagan has hunger and desire to play for Liverpool Football Club. He is young, tough and fearsome. He has loads of potential and a lot of learning and improving to do yet. But he is the type of Liverpool player that I feel we need more of. He plays his heart out for LFC. You can see his determination etched all over his face when he's in possession, looking for possession or fighting to win the ball back. Jon Flanagan puts his body on the line for the great LFC jersey, blood red. If BR brings in that type of player, who plays with his heart and his head I will be happy. Just as happy to see those who don't come up to that standard leave. The ANOTHER CHANCE SALOON can be found at lesser clubs. The coming good type of player AT THE END OF LAST SEASON that's paid all season can play with someone else, LFC is about high standards, not lowering them.

He has everything needed to be a top player apart from ability. Major setback there

Well said jon, hopfully BR will read this post and give you a game!

Jon, is that you?

I know he is a local boy. But i just don't think he is good enough. If we Send him out on loan then you will know if he could cut it.

I think Ryan mclaughlin the young Irish lad is a much better prospect.Flanno has that reckless in the tackle, Red Mist, that is being removed from the game.I wish him well, but I prefer Ryan Mac

31 Jul 2012 12:48:48
I will go mad if agger leaves
1 he is the best defender at lfc and one of the best in the league
2 I have his name on the back of my Liverpool shirt
If he leaves I would like us to bid for Kjćr {Ed019's Note - I think Kjaer is intended to partner Agger, not replace him}

If Kjaer is intended to partner Agger, does that mean Skrtl is on his way out?

Kjær a replacement is skrtel goes then ed
Bean

I think if we were to allow a centre back to leave, Rodgers would rather keep Agger and sell Skrtel. I think Skrtel is more replaceable than Agger.

RedSG

If kjaer is not good enough for roma he aint good enough for us dont know much about him though.

31 Jul 2012 12:35:33
A fancy name?

In all seriousness though I think the main thing is the ability to adapt positionally.. As far as I am aware in tika-taka players inter-change between positions especially along the midfield and there is no concrete formation throughout the 90 mins

Shanek Lfc

31 Jul 2012 12:06:17
Hi eds do you LFC are really going to let Reina, Skrtel, Suarez, Agger, Carroll, Cole, Aqualani, Eccleston, Spearing, leave as it seems excessive that we are shipping so many players out two seasons in a row, i know 4 of them arent first team but as Macca has said only dempsey and allen and a loan signing are looking in sight? Do you think there is going to be a problem gaining confidence with players and stability knowing that so many are being sold all the time? KHenderson

Maybe all those departures will ensure your place, Jordan.

31 Jul 2012 11:33:19
Hello Eds,
Why are we even entertaining bids for Agger. We don't want to sell him & he has 2 years running on his contract. Its not like he has 1 year left and we would be forced to sell. Its getting embarassing to say the least. Even considering letting Agger go and replacing him with Amorebieta. We really have a genius taking hold of transfers. {Ed019's Note - The only way Agger will leave is if there is a big-money, very big money, move made}

I dont quite get how it is embarassing that we are receiving offers for Agger. He is a very good footballer. Why wouldnt other clubs want him? If we sell him for peanuts, then maybe that is embarassing until then....

Andy K

31 Jul 2012 13:20:02
If Agger does go then it should be for 15 million plus Balotelli!!! Since that won't happen then i don't think the Agger deal will either but if Barcelona come in with a big bid then i excpect he will be leaving.

As much as I like Balotelli because of his character I would not want him anywhere near Liverpool Football Club

31 Jul 2012 13:08:42
Carroll wouldn't go to West Ham permanently, but a loan move for a year would make a lot of sense for him and the club. Give him a chance playing regular football to prove himself. The news that we've now accepted a loan offer lends a lot of credence to Macca's rumour that we may be signing a loanee...looks like a striker then

Red Ollie

31 Jul 2012 13:07:43
it looks the major star signing on loan will be Carroll to West Ham as Macca didn't mention which direction the transfer will be done?

Anyway it's still pure speculation I only hope there's a plan B and we don't end up with Suarez and Borini only as our strikers anyway of Morgan and Ecclestone still lacking too much experience I guess.

31 Jul 2012 13:07:10
From only 1 month ago....

Denmark international Agger, whose Euro 2012 exploits ended on Sunday after his country were eliminated, is contracted on Merseyside until 2014 but would welcome the chance to extend his deal.

The 27-year-old, who joined Liverpool in 2006 from native club Brondby, is keen to meet Rodgers after being impressed with his results at Swansea.

"It's no secret that I'm happy to be in Liverpool. Otherwise, I would not have been there for six years," he told sporten.dk.

"I have not [discussed a new contract] but if they come with an offer I will surely sit down and talk with them.

"It's not something that is urgent, for I have contract until 2014, but if they ask I will listen.

"I am looking forward to meeting the new coach. I've seen what he has done at Swansea, and it has been impressive."

Thats the post i was on about. i remberer agger sayin that. No chance of him leaving. Sell skrtel and bring in kjaer

I know he said that, but given our league position the last 2 seasons would you be surprised if he had his head turned by Barcelona or City? Would you blame him?

Red Ollie

Cant say enough about how impressed I am with Lucas Leiva after his recent interviews. This guy will be a Liverpool legend! Not once has he taken umbrage to the supporters who once called for his head. He loves our club with a passion and can see him being the next captain when Stevie retires. He is tireless in his support and love for the fans. Long live Lucas “ soon to be Liverpool Legend!
Boysie-red

I have to say i was critical of him at first. But now i think the club needs him. As soon as he got hurt our season went bad.He is getting better and better each year now he is as important as any midfielder we have. We might see the best of him under Rodgers forget Allen i just want Lucas back.

It appears that Spurs are currently discussing a move for Joe Allen. Will we lose out again for acting slowly?

Its not that as supporters we want to appear negative but the reality is that we have finished 6th, 7th & 8th in the last few seasons mainly due to the poor quality of the squad. At present we have added one player and nothing seems to be happening.

So Spurs would be replacing Modric with Allen, who's the team that's missing out?

I watched an episode of Family Guy last night that featured Peter being a massive Boston Red Sox fan and him going to a game at Fenway Park. Very funny episode.

Anyhow, why do people want Kaka? If it was 2005 then yes, I would be very happy with that but now...?

Presuming Carroll leaves, we are not going to have 1 out and out striker? Suarez and Borini fit the centre forward mould playing off a strike, will we be looking to bring in a striker to replace or give Carroll competition? if we are, who do you think it will be ?

31 Jul 2012 12:45:42
It would be my understanding that for Agger to leave it would mean he would have to either 1) put in a transfer request or 2) have the club accept any offers for him. That said in both circumstances it would be down to Agger himself so I dont see what the panic is about. If the lad wants to stay then he will stay even if a 20+ million offer comes in for him. If he wants to go then there's no point in having an unhappy player in the team. BR will hopefully not sell his best players to fund average squad players. It seems ludicrous to sell your foundations and without sounding cheesy that's how things fall down.

could the bis star on loan be Villa?, and I think we should consider a backup left back, def-mid, though Shelvey is looking good, just hope we keep Aquaman he is brilliant. Do we get Dempsey and Allen? because I think we have enough midfielders and finally whats this Carroll story?

apparently Fulham want Adam as part of the deal for Dempsey. Please have him I say

We wouldn't be that lucky

Man city payed 25million for lescott and now there trying to offfer 17million for agger have they lost there minds agger is twice the player lescott is 30million if I was the liverpool manager

Considering Aggers injury record,if a 20 Million offer came in, I would rip the skin off Marwoods hand. Then I would buy Amorebieta.I think Agger is an excellent player, but I feel that he's injury prone.

People are saying Carroll dosen't fit int BR's system, but neither does half the squad.Carroll is young and will adapt if given the chance

Just wanted to know, when do you think the owners will start splashing the cash, as they have said in the past, the 'Money will be made available for the right players'.Why can't we just go and get the players we are after, eg: Ramirez, Dempsey,Dembele etc: Since the new owners have been here, with the exception of Suarez and Carroll, who were funded by the sale of Torres, who have we paid top top money for? If we are to get to were we all want to be, at the Top of English and European football, then we need to be buying big big names, not players in the £8 - £10 million bracket.Your not telling me that if Liverppol made an appraoch for Dembele, then he would rather stay with them than come to us, and don't give me the ' thats called tapping up', just get Danny Murphy to have a word with him then.

Danny is now at Blackburn, so you will have to get someone who actually plays for Fulham to have a word!

This will occur when LFC rises from the ashes of Henry's rein and joins the elite of europe once again and occurs after some oil barron takes over the club

I have for a feeling that the loan signing will be ozil IMO mourino said last season that if he doesn't improve he will be shipped out and with the imminent arrival of modric ozil will not want to be a bench warmer I'm sure kind of a hope and a pray situation really but will defiantly be an amazing addition

Tactical Question: What's the difference between Tika-Taka
and the traditional Liverpool pass and move system?

The obvious difference is the formation, Liverpool traditionally played a 4-4-2 formation and the modern tiki-taka is played in a 4-3-3 formation. But Rodgers has already pointed out that a lot of the methods such as aggressive attacking play and working hard off the ball to press, close down and win the ball back all tie in with the traditional way that Liverpool always played.

John barnes couldnt get Tika-Taka
to rhyme with anything in his song!

Tika Taka is played by midgets

There's much less move

Ray Houghton brought it up on RTE when doing commentary for a Barca match a year or so ago. According to him, the difference between Tiki-Taka and the Liverpool team he was in, is that Tiki-Taka, as Spain and Barca play it, will have the team contentedly recycle possession forever if they have to. Whilst the Liverpool team he playe in looked to create a chance within 10-15 passes. That's a simplification, obviously, but higher tempo and more emphasis on penetration rather than retention in the top third is the essence of what he meant. I think that's about right. If you look at Liverpool from that era, we were much happier to hit earlier through balls and crosses if they were on than Barca are now.

The basic pass & move ethos is the same, and I have an inkling that Rodgers' take on Tiki-Taka will be slightly higher tempo than Barca's anyway, so I really wish people would stop talking about it as some fundemental change in philosophy at the club.

- Something Red -

No passes over three metres in length are allowed ............

Absolutely nothing really..

Nothing

Its just like expresso or latte

Both are still coffee

Kenny's brand of pass and move football was the besrt seen at anfield in 20 years what a pity Carroll never banged in 20 goals and it all had a happy ending.

Nothing!! Just been given a new fancy name.

So tired of all the negativty about Rodgers and the club...your meant to be Supporters so back the managers judgement and support him and the team...Funny how fans are saying Carroll's class..wonder if there the same one's slating him every week last season? I'd take £20m for him because he was a pile of sh*te for over a year and only just finding his feet. Aquilani is anothe one...Not good enough has been overlooked by 3 managers who all thought the same! Let's try being supporters for a change and be positive...That's what I'll be doing from the Kop next season...through thick and thin...YNWA

Richie

Others also was pile of sh**te, not only carroll and the manager is a human being afterall, so errors are made by humans also. KK ,benitez, houillier everyone made errors with regards to players handling, they were shown the door which i dont care but at the end of the day Liverpool Football Club is the victim which i care about. Everyone is saying carroll cant make it ect ect are you god,? do you already know the future? how can someone say/predict he wont adapt to the pass and move football....if they think they know what the future reserves so better go and play lottery instead
.....god?

So will you be so supportive when we lose either agger, skrtel or suarez, open your eyes we are on the cusp here, the next few decisions will define our club for years, stop baaing!

Great supporter eh?! Forgive if I'm wrong but is Carroll not still a Liverpool player. Your support for him is admirable you hypocrite!
Jason

Great post Richie, well said mate. The club as a whole, need support, not negatively...

Stevie.

55m spent on those two, lots of injuries and selling for 20m?

Well done on offering your support to both Andy and Albert there, both of whom are still Liverpool players as of this moment, yet you described one as a pile of sh!te and the other not good enough. I'm sure they're both feeling the love and support you're offering Richie, bravo, bravo indeed......

Expect Skrtel to move on close to deadline day and his replacement to be Coates. No replacement will be brought in from outside the club also don't expect the Americans to pull any aces from their sleeve either. I have a feeling this so called "STAR" player will not be one of these big names getting mentioned people are getting a bit too carried away.

The Doc

Agger will also go, and remember Rogers exciting signing was Borini, so I imagine if there is a star loan signing we may find him just as underwhelming!

Mate defenders win games. we have agger and skertl who are the pick of the bunch there, apart from maybe toure and kompany. rio and vidic are getting older, dawson and vertongen is a new cb partnership and ivanovic and terry needs the whole team back to accommidate them.

Give me strength. I know it's the school holidays, but surely you can find something better to do with your time!

You've chosen to include a player we haven't signed, and exclude the player we have signed. It's 31st July, so presumably we are not doing any more business?
Completely pointless post and yet another example of nameless person who takes every possible opportunity to moan. Our wonderful new breed of anti-supporters.
You've forgotten to take out Agger and Skirtle as FSG are definitely' selling them and asset stripping don't forget!

Blackosprey1965

When you say not looking good I assume you mean your life? What a sad person you must be, taking the time to concoct such a post full of utter garbage. That LFC lineup is comparable to any and all those listed, while you I compare to a pair of unwashed socks. Clown

No its not looking good even with the most optimistic of eyes

You forgot to put Webb in United's squad. He's a very important team member for them

The teams that you have made up are wrong as are the formations
Stop moaning we all know that we can't compete for the best players but we will get the best that we can

Chelsea looks great...quality..

Much as it pains me to say it, we're not looking to compete with the Manchester clubs, or probably Chelsea given the signings they've made. It's Arsenal, Spurs and Newcastle we have to worry about. There's no point comparing line-ups, as who would have thought Newcastle would do so well last season? It's about team spirit, organization and how well the players play on the day. It's also about togetherness and belief in the squad. Though the team you've posted above is unlikely to be starting many games, I think it's capable of beating any team in the league

Red Ollie

Our team is not so bad, provided we manage to hold on to our best players and add to the squad in a couple of places, top 4 is a real target to aim for, although the new manager and his style may take a while to bed in which may hold us back this year.

United team isn't all too impressive either, only special thing about them is they have Fergie. Rafael is not better than Johnson/Kelly, Ferdinand is a crock as is Vidic, Evra is a clown, I'm probably clownist now, Scholes is old and should never have came back and it will show this season, Carrick is not a particularly good midfielder, Kagawa is unproven in this league and may take a season to adapt, Rooney and Nani are the only two players that are top class.

Chelsea have a lot of new players to bed in, they have lost Drogba and Anelka, and have a very average manger who plays the most boring defensive football, he will be sacked by Christmas.

Spurs team is nothing specia,l they have the clueless one AVB in charge, even if he turns it around he may need a season to do it. Adebayor isn't even their player, and they are probably losing VDV too, and the poof Bale will be targeted for lots of rough stuff next season, now that defenders have found out he doesn't like been tackled.

Man City will most likely win the league with varying degrees of easiness depending on who they sign.

pimpton

Liverpool have several players who would not say no to a move away from the club. I think this summer could see many leave or perhaps even worse many kept against their will. United have improved the squad with Kagawa and Powell, but still need 1-2 top players and a LB IMO. One top player with Nani staying put or two top players with Nani leaving.

Disney!

First tip on this, never judge a team by it written on paper... 1 thing in football everyone should know is that anything is possible

the truth

Cannot see how Liverpool could finish ahead of Newcastle and Spurs, let alone United, City, Chelsea & Arsenal. Liverpool finished 34 points behind United last season with Kenny, Suarez, Reina, Skrtel, Agger, Kuyt etc, without them you will be weaker and United will be stronger with Kagawa, Cleverley and Vidic. This summer it's about keeping your best players which will be a massive struggle. Will be interesting to see how the summer pans out for all of us.

Disney!

Take yourself off Disney, Mickey Mouse is calling you and Pluto has a bone for you...

Disney, nothing special about united for you to crow about except Fergie without him your lot would struggle for top 4 too. Vidic is a sick note, you won't get a full season out of him again, Cleverly is nothing of note, don't know what you all see in him, blinkered comes to mind. Kagawa hasn't even kicked a ball in the prem, yet you havent a clue how he will turn, could be another Veron, you just don't know.

City and Chelsea for top 2, Liverpool, United, Spurs and Arsenal to fight it out for the last two spots

Castor

Castor, we will finish a minimum of 40 points ahead of you next season. I believe you will finish 9th/10th.

Disney!

Loads of people seem to be moaning about Carroll going. I don't really want him to go, but hang on, he hasn't really been prolific for us has he? He doesn't seem to really do the pass a move that well. If he goes and and we get someone who scores a lot this season it's worth it. Even if Carroll becomes a monster and scores tons for West Ham it doens't mean he would have scored tons for us. We all know Sam loves a long ball up to a big man. Where as this just send Brendan off in a rage of hatred as to him it is destroying the beautiful game. He loves possesion and short passing.
Let's give Brendan Rodgers a chance, because if Borini start banging them home we'll all be saying "Carroll who?"

Totally agree, I dont rate Carroll one bit to be fair and to be quiet frank i feel he will never play good for liverpool, had a shocker last season, why keep him.. Borini, Dempsey and Suarez are who matters... matters Rodgers has made sure.. I think with the new signings our team will be much better next season, cant do any worse than last can we.. we wont end up in top 4 but we'll be 5-6.. year after top 4

As long as we buy a couple of god strikers.

We are way short in the attacking Department at the moment

The loan signing is Dempsey. The 'bigging-up' is to generate interest in the USA - which is a massive market for TV game sales etc.

So Fulham DON'T want to sell a player in the last year of his contract to us for £9 million but DO want to loan him to us for a year and then we can get on a free after that?!
Yeah, makes sense sherlock.

Why would we possibly sign dempsey on loan when we can buy him for less than 10m. What a very odd post !

Why would fulham loan dempsey when he's in final 12 months of contract

Why post?

Why would Fulham loan Dempsey out in the last year of his contract.

Forgot where I read this from but it had Agger quoted saying "I am proud to pull on my Liverpool jersey and will never go to another club in England." "I think it's unacceptable to play for one of LFC's rivals. For a Dane it is about having respect for the club you play at".
I hope this wasn't pulled from twitter.

It is very likely that Agger is leaving, he's one of the top players of the PL of this season.
My guess is he is Barca bound, probably as Puyol is close to be retiring.
D-Agger LFC legend.

Look if he were to leave now to go to barca or real madrid then i would have no quarrels with him, however i really hope that he doesn't go to man city.

Puyol just signed a new 5 year contract with the club, so doubtful.

Same mate. I'd love to keep him but if it is any truth in that he's wanting to leave, i only can see him going to Barca really. Simple fact as in that quote i can't see LFC selling him to a rival especially a manc one!

i think its fair to say city always get there man, they can offer so much more than liverpool, i will be very sad to see agger go, its looking like bad times ahead at the minute...

john

If Joleon Lescott was worth £25mil for his transfer from Everton to City, whats Agger worth compared to Lescott??.
If Liverpool hold out, I'm fairly sure City would match that. But I really don't want Agger to go anywhere.

It's 'Their' John mate - more schooling needed lad. Why does Agger leaving equate to bad times ahead? Players come & go - get used to it.

dd

Why are people always saying crap like bad times ahead because our players are LINKED with other teams can u not understand good players are always going to be linked with other clubs it does not for 1 minute mean they wil sign for them just take a valume and calm down exciting times ahead but im more of a glass half full than empty get behind the club and manager and stop wining irish red

City always get their man? Is that why their losing the Van Persie race?!

I wouldnt use lescott as an example because then clubs like fulham and swansea will just use carroll downing and henderson as examples to make us pay more. they paid that much for lescott cause they wanted to make a statement in the same way they bought robihno. they wanted to say they were gonna spend whatever it takes to get to the top, they are there now so they wont be grosly overpaying for players again.

31 Jul 2012 10:12:38
Dealings based on what people who are ITK or work for LFC say and some educated guesswork.

BR said he'd make 3 or 4 signings and there'll only be more if players other than those earmarked for departure leave.

We have signed Fabio Borini (Kuyt's replacement) and there is clearly interest in Joe Allen (important to BR and effectively Maxi replacement in squad number terms) and Clint Dempsey (versatile attacker to help address goal scoring problem).

The loan signing will either give us further attacking options and is a safety net as no guarentee on selling AC and it also allows us to let Bellers leave as he wants regular football at 33 yrs) Available evidence points to Pato on loan for me.

At the moment we haven't generated any real money from sales so that's why we're not committing to another 20 odd million on Allen & Dempsey just yet (spending would be over 30m which would more than any club other than Chelsea).

If Ba leaves Newcastle then Carroll to Toon for about 18m is possible (we know Pardew wants him) and hopefully Aquilani leaves for Italy for around 4m (no more). At this point we can do Allen and Dempsey deals and we will have spent about 10m net although wage bill will have been reduced with Kuyt, Aurelio, Maxi, Aqulani and Carroll gone).

If Agger or Skrtel leave it looks like Fernando Amorebieta will come in with Liverpool making 3-4m overall taking our net spend down to about 6m. Keeper deals will be cost neutral with two out and one in and so my take on the situation is that we would then have sufficient funds to buy another attacker.

It will be someone pacy with a goal threat and my best guess would be Salomon Rondon (Malaga have confirmed our interest) or Daniel Sturridge (probably surplus to requirements at Chelsea).

In. De Vries (Amorebieta) Allen, Dempsey, Sturridge, Borini and Pato (Loan)

Out. Doni, Jones, (Skrtel) Aurelio, Maxi, Aquilani, Carroll, Kuyt and Bellamy - possibly Adam if we get a bid of 6m.

I maintain we will spend no mo than 15-20m net, that we will I'm squad in total numbers by 4/5 players and that age profile and total wage bill will come down.

Sorry if you want Ramirez, Muniain and Gaitan but I just can't see it this summer.

Comes down to whether you think Lucas,Gerrard and Allen is a midfield that can control a game and whether you think there are more goals in Dempsey, Suarez, Pato, Borini & Sturridge than there were in Carroll, Suarez, Kuyt & Bellamy. If the answer is yes to both questions you'll be happy with our summer deals and if the answer is no then you won't.

PieInTheSkyMan

And yet the funny thing is, most of this won't happen. Pato is definitely not the loan signing. AC Milan have just sold ibrahomovich (their top striker), that leaves Pato And cassano as their only strikers.
They won't allow their best striker on loan. If that was an educated guess, my advice is get more education.

31 Jul 2012 22:50:18
Unless I'm mistake AC Milan are looking to bring in Tevez and Kaka . They were willing to sell Pato to PSG and there are Brazilian clubs looking to put a deal for Pato together. So maybe you need to read up a bit more. If we are taking Macca at his word and using "star" as a guide then Pato is one and most names mentioned are not. If the word is more elastic I would say Affelay is he loan signing but he's not really a "star". I know we have enquirer about Pato before and I know Lucas is one of his best mates. But feel free to make snide comments without singing your post. You cn never be wrong can you?

Can any of the eds confirm whether we are getting this so called 'mystery loan signing' and if so who it might be?! I have a big list of names it might be, but they all seem so unrealistic. Thomas Muller for example! {Ed002's Note - I don't know.}

Hi eds,

Do you think the only way we could sign Demsey is if he hands in a transfer request meaning he will have to forfeit a loyalty bonus?

Thanks

31 Jul 2012 09:52:49
I'v heard we will sign Giusepi Rossi on loan. Due to his injury record we won't permanently sign him. But we will be paying the majority of his wage which isn't as much as a lot of the players at the club. {Ed002's Note - Why sign a player on loan who is out for another 6 months?}

Hasnt Agger stated he would never play for any other english club out of Respect, If, He were to leave..Thanks. {Ed049's Note - Yes}

31 Jul 2012 09:38:30
A lot is being made of this major loan signing ? I am sure we are trying to get certain players on these kind of deals ..it does not mean it will happen ? The players have to want to come to the club before any deal is complete ! Do not get your hopes up on any particular major loan deal just yet !

31 Jul 2012 09:34:43
I believe the arguments against the idea that Villa will be loaned to Liverpool are probably true. Loan players at big clubs are squad players (like Bellamy) whereas Real would want Villa playing more regulalry - starting 11. That would leave us in a situation 12 months down the line (or sooner if they recall him suddenly) of being no further forward than we are now.

Bellamy is not a loanee you clown

Im sure Barcelona wouldn't agree to Real playing Villa more regularly

Dublad

Villa plays for Real now? Must have missed that juicy bit of transfer activity, I was under the impression he was Barca's golden boy..

I didn't say he was a loan player - I said he was a squad player. Clown.

Hes talking about the loan spell at Cardiff ya div, same as adabayor at real and spuds, like we tried with aquilani and pacheco, most players who go on loan are surplus to requirement and are going on loan to be put in the shop window so to speak, therefore raising their profile and value at the same time.
Jaydee YNWA

But you did say that Villa played for Real.

Yeah and you said squad players are loan players hence Bellamy being a loan player think about what your saying

I don't have any sources but I think the loan singing could b Torres, cavani said he wants to leave napoli and Chelsea r interested also so r city who already have ageuro tevez balotelli n dzeko. SO if Chelsea get cavani ,Torres would not b a first team regular which he had a runt about last season so Chelsea may loan him out to get his form back. What u think ed?

Torres? ROFL

everyone keeps saying how good Aquilani is and how he should be given a chance people need to wake up, He is a 17m pound wast of money and then there is the wages reportedly 6.5 a year. It says a lot when his agent is hawking him around and Know-one wonts him. He simply does not wont to be hear that is if he tells the truth, and liverpool dont wont him either. He is injury pron and needs more time on the ball than the premiership gives you. Rafa decided very quickly after trying him he was week, Roy decided to loan him out after seeing him train and KK did the same. Even a footballing man in BR thinks he is not good enough they cant all be wrong so the sooner we cut our losses the better.

Does anyone know anything about the 13 year old we signed from Lucan in Ireland? apparently he will come over at 16 on a million contract and Man U desperately wanted him also?

Shanek Lfc

I thought this lad went to barcelona.Tommy Irish Red.

On Newstalk radio here this morning - Done Deal. Usually a reliable source as they don't normally say anyhting until it's all official. Apparently SAF looked at the kid in person but he has decided on Liverpool. All set to join LFC in two years - deal supposed to worth 1 million. Can't comment on the lad as not seen him myself.

Irish Red Dog

Its different lad went to barca according to liverpool web site its connor Masterson and he will get a deal of up to 1m euro to sign when he is 16 he is only 13 and called up to the u15 eire squad he is a centre half and turned down city utd chelsea.Tommy Irish red.

Yeah pencil him down for irelands no.10 in the 2022 WC
derryred

The Barca chap is Zak Gilsenan, he's only 9 and he's already going over to the FCBE Scola acadmey there.

I hadn't heard anything about a 13 year old signing a pre-agreement with Liverpool, which I would've thought would be in the sports news over here, so I googled it. I got one blog saying that the story is in the Irish Daily Star. The article says the player's name is Conor Masterson, and he's a centre-half who plays for Lucan United.

Not got a more reliable source yet. So it could be BS.

- Something Red -

No that is a different Irish boy.. I only saw a headline didn't have time to read it properly at all.. I was just wondering there seems to be a fair bit of hype but I don't even know anything about what position he plays..

First the two-faced attitude with Swansea, then with Carroll.
Carroll wants a loan with West Ham hoping that Rogers will be gone by April.

Please don't write Kaka, it is Ka'ka.
Kaka means sh*t in Spanish.

El Rojo

The idea we are signing ka'ka is kaka
FowlerisGod

Your post is Kaka

Exactly,he is s***

El clowno, well done for winning stupidest post of the day. Beware those squirty flowers

Er...yeah kaka doesn't mean s*** in spanish...

Mierda does..

Well at least Rodgers is one Ingles who understands the meaning of kaka. It is not the same for the Portuguese. The Spanish must find kaka very funny.
A bit like Kloten Zurich Airport for the Dutch and the w***dorf Stadium for the British.

Chorico

Kaka is an olive brown parrot with grey and red spots native to new Zealand
D. Attenborough

Kaka means s*** in finish

I cant believe you've just googled translated that and come back claiming to be fluent in Spanish, he was obviously taking the we'ee, which is Spanish for pLss by the way.
Jaydee ynwa

It does in portugese which is what he speaks

Haha kaka mean s*** in creole.

Finesse - Seychelles

In colloquial Spanish the word used with children and babies is CACA, but pronounced KaKa.

Google the Zurich Football stadium.

A lot of kloten written on these pages.

Hello Eds,
is it possible to narrow Carroll's possible replacement to two or three names? {Ed002's Note - Borini, Dempsey, "loan" player.}

"Fans should focus on themselves and their own team. What interests me is the Liverpool fans and the Uruguay fans." -Luis suarez

cozinoz

And whats your point mate?

Fans are writing about what united, arsenal, chelsea and spurs are doing instead of just focusing on what Liverpool are doing. it also explains why he doesn't give a cr..p about the boo's

No huge point there - just thought it would be nice to share some Suarez positivity with the fans. And what's your name mate?

BR a week ago "NO loan move,Carroll can fit,Big investment for the club" one week later Liverpool agree LOAN WITH hammers??
BR please dont be yet another YES man!

I've obviously missed it being confirmed on the official site... judging by the number of owner slatings I've encountered, I've missed a shockingly high number of deals!

Drigan

Errrrm all managers do this. please see arsene wenger probably the best manager around

In the days leading up to Meirelles departure to Chelsea, didn't Kenny come out and say he is going nowhere?

So is Kenny also a yes man?

Tristan

Raul wanted to go

Andy does not want to go and that is the difference

Please post as I have not seen it been posted a I belive has some truth

{Ed002's Note - It was posted days ago - resending it over and over again is pissing off the Eds.}

Idk why but ed002 comment made me laugh so hard :).

Hello Eds,
sorry to read every day that Liverpool and Rodgers are desperately trying to get rid of Carroll. I don't understand why but I think his days are well over at Anfield. Do you know of any possible replacements? good day. {Ed002's Note - See multiple previous answers.}

What ive been saying for a while now and what is quite obvious is that fsg cannot afford a club like liverpool, they have reduced us to a mid table club not just in terms of league positioning but in transfer activity, we are looking for players with half a decent season in the league in order to pay them low wages, all this crap from werner about they can compete with anyone is really all talk, because they cant. They are just fooling most of you the same way h&g did. RedTurk

RedTurk really the first thing in the morning could you not have waited till utlest 12 before you start having a go at FSG.

Red Raj

Ah RedTurk, after a few days of relatively sensible posts (for you anyway) you once more release the inner clown. Your anti FSG posts are probably the best form of propaganda they could get, because if you don't like them they must be doing something right. You are in the top 3 of cretin class on this site. keep up the good work! Nutter

What is it you exactly want RedTurk? A club that can sustain itself & not risk administration or a sugar daddy to come in & buy super star players on a weekly basis. Let us know where your head is at? Thanks mate...

dd

Does this work like tag team?
Bosco one day, RedTurk the next....
Any chance you two could reply to each others posts and give us all a laugh?

BigBadBen

Red turk do you really thing FSG would invest 200 million pound in LFC to make it a mid table team they are top investers in companys fella they are in it to make money how would they do that by making us a midtable team would sponsors come to us or stay with us if what your saying was true . If they spent multi millions on transfers would you say that no they are not going to buy the league like city have because look whats happening to them now there manager wants another five signings how much will that cost city no mate FSG doing a fantastic job

Fsg can't afford the club? How did they buy us then. Transfer spent 2003 to present day FACT third highest on paying transfer fees only behind chavs and manky city. FACT highest on receiving transfer fees. FACT third highest on net spend only behind chavs and manky city. Redevon

Ah man, dont hit me with those negative waves so early in the day.

Ian the red

If your offering dd, il take the sugar daddy, chocolate milkshake and a big mac meal to go please :) RedTurk

Are RedBurk and Bosclown one and the same? Could be...

If Liverpool were to sign Allen, Dempsey and Ramirez. Our midfield would be huge. Our wage bill will be massive. Surely more than one midfielder will be leaving. Aquilani is a goner yes, but shelvey is set to be loaned out, so what about Adam. Also I have been told that Toulouse midfielder moussa sissoko is on his way out if France with Liverpool being very interested. Also Vargas would be a very good signing, better and cheaper than downing. Visit viola website and watch clips of him on player profile. Strong in the ball, greatfeet, great cross. Fast. So red!

If we were to get dempsey, Allen and Ramirez I would expect to see Adam sold, spearing possibly on loan (prefer it if he was sold), cole and Bellamy be moved on also (cole is less likely than Bellamy) and Carroll going out on loan, with his replacement being this loan star (striker). Borini (kuyt replacement), Allen (Adam and spearings replacement), dempsey (bellamys replacement), Ramirez (maxi replacement) and loan star would be Carroll replacement only temporarily. If any on that list to stay I would Adam and cole for more depth as we have alot more games next season.

Ed002 preferably,is this whole Liverpool fc mole thing true,we actually made up stories just to locate the mole?thanks {Ed002's Note - I can neither confirm nor deny that.}

31 Jul 2012 07:39:01
Hii Eds and all LFC fans, for any of the Eds to answer

Are the rumours true about Carroll leaving on a season long loan worth 2million and then if west ham stay in the prem, they have the option of 17million purchase of Carroll {Ed002's Note - It is perhaps an option.}

31 Jul 2012 07:22:03
Hey eds, is there any chance the loan signing could be Thomas muller? with robben, ribery and Shakiri he might be on the bench even more? Would be an awesome signing? Hopefully he could then persuade oezil (spelling) to come aswell, as he is not 1st choice at Madrid? So do you think muller could be available? Cheers for the great work you guys do.
Paynee {Ed002's Note - I would doubt it.}

31 Jul 2012 06:24:05
Eds,

First of all love your guys work - I check the site every day!

With regards to the possibility of Carroll moving on, do we hold any firm interest in anyone as a replacement.

Who would be your best bet should he leave?

Cheers guys appreciate it,

SammyRed {Ed002's Note - Borini has signed, Dempsey is likely, the "loan" player.}

Why is demspey the loan player ed? r u sure? :P thanks {Ed002's Note - DEmpsey is not the "loan" player.}

31 Jul 2012 04:40:30
Any chance to get Gaitan from Benfica?
Also, will we lose Agger and Carroll?
Great site Eds

LFC {Ed002's Note - I think it is unlikely but not impossible. Fee would be an issue.}

Are we even interested though ed?
Thanks. {Ed002's Note - See answers from last week.}

31 Jul 2012 03:34:13
Eds morning/afternoon..
Need ur clarification on certain things.
1-i understand Carroll loan offer has been accepted. Is it true? Carroll interested?
2- Heard fee been agreed for Aquilani, just need him to agree on wages. 7m, thats the amount?
3-Eds, have Ian ayre already submit 2nd bid for Joe Allen for 12.5m + 2.5m future incentive.
4-Im confuse. Right now is it Agger or Skrtel that wants to move? Is lfc considering to sell Agger? We might find player like Agger anymore if we sell him..

Kameel'lfc {Ed002's Note - (1) Options are being considered. (2) There is no confirmation of this. (3) Efforts are being made to sign Allen. (4) There is interest in Agger at least.}

31 Jul 2012 01:55:12
Hi ed's, are we still interested in lisbons ricky van wolfswinkel? Or any players from the portugese league, has I reckon there are a lot of excellent players there we could get at a cheap price, excluding porto or benfica players has they seem to charge english clubs extra nominal prices! Do we have a good scout set-up base in potugal? Thanks! Would be grateful for a answer! Herbie
Y.N.W.A! {Ed002's Note - Not that we are aware.}

30 Jul 2012 21:06:08
I noted from the 2011 Accounts that a further £20 million of transfers fees would be payable should certain conditions be met. I wonder how much of this relates to Carroll's £35 million fee and if any of the eds know how much hard cash we actually paid for him? {Ed002's Note - As far as I know nothing is owed on the transfer fee for Carroll. Performance related payments still remain for Adam, Aquilani and Henderson at least. If the 20M GBP is correct, then others as well.}

Haha don't think we shud have to pay much then if were goin on their performances
Scouseme

30 Jul 2012 19:00:13
Hey eds, just wondering with Agger and Skrtel being linked with other clubs is there any chance of us signing Diego Godin 26 Years old and he looks like a decent ball playing defender and would give Suarez reason to stay and i think he would help out Coates on the pitch

obviously there arent any rumours interest in these two but i think Godid and Kjaer would make a solid partnership and would be worth buying if we can sell on Agger and Skrtel for around 20 million each {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of interest from Liverpool in Godin. Interest is elsewhere as discussed.}

I would love godin.

30 Jul 2012 17:09:34
Ed 002 what price do you think Agger will go for plus heard anything about the loan star? Thanks. {Ed002's Note - I would not want to guess at prices and have not been able to find out about the loan player.}

30 Jul 2012 13:23:33
Hi ed. With Maccas post on a top star on loan, whats the situation with Higuain. I have always thought it was highly unlikely for him to join Liverpool as he would probably want Champions league football but with the way Benzema played last season and with Madrid still interested in Cavani, Higuain must know his chances at Madrid are limited. I remember you saying a couple of months back that he was being offered to Chelsea but with Chelsea still looking to get Hulk then that looks unlikely. Is there any clubs in the champions league showing an interest in him as he wouldn't want to be stuck on the bench all season and Madrid wont want to be paying such high wages for a third choice striker who will hardly be used.

Gaz {Ed002's Note - Higuain was offered to Chelsea in January but now seems likely to stay in Madrid. I really don't see him moving to Liverpool on loan.}

Typical edd02 reply, All the best players linked with chelsea but none with liverpool {Ed002's Note - So you want me to lie? Go read what was said about Higuain in January. I got abuse for telling the truth over Dalglish, Aquilani, Carroll and Agger - seems the BS is what you want and that there is no point in sharing anything.}

Chelsea can afford the best players, pay their wages and offer champions league football and a title challenge nearly every season. we will not pay huge fees, huge wages and have no champions league football. that is why chelsea are linked with the best players. however it comes at a cost. the chelsea lion on their crest may as well be replaced with a doller sign. i would rather liverpool get back to the top with players who love the club.

A quick question Ed if I may? with the clubs that fail to make the knock out stages of the champions league now playing in the the other competion, are players from both competions cup tied from each other? hope that makes sence, just thinking we could put a lot of clubs off our best players early. {Ed002's Note - It is a little more complex than that and I have no time to explain now. It has been explained previously - perhaps a year ago.}

I believe the clubs knocked out of the CL are allowed to make some alterations to their squads for the Europa League, I may be wrong though

Red Ollie

31 Jul 2012 04:23:57
One thing for sure that FSG has made clear. The premiership is priority and what you do in the knockout tournaments clearly is a side show.
Look to see Rodgers play mostly youngsters in all the cups, regardless of how far we get in them. It will avoid injuriesand fatigue. If we get knocked out early it would just be an easier schedule.Rodgers is only concerned with the 38 league games this season. This is what all the training and preparation will go into. So don't take too much from how we perform in cup games. The Europa league, F.a cup and league cup DON'T MATTER THIS SEASON! The 38 league games is Rodgers focus.
DURBAN PIRATES YNWA

I dont believe it (and I dont know how you would get that info). Theres money in the Europa and theres back door Euro entry in the cups if the league isnt going well. why put our eggs in one basket. we can win THE WHOLE LOT anyway

cozinoz

Not sure it's that simple my friend.
We're still Liverpool- its not like we're a club merely trying to stay in the PL. Liverpool cannot afford to just throw it in when it comes to cups. Carling Cup will be mix of youth and first team squad and I'd expect some youth on bench in Europa games.

First of all id like to say that I think that BR is going to do big things at Liverpool, I think he will bring us back to the top of England and European football! I think signing Joe Allen would be a big mistake, Aquilani is more than capable of producing big things at Liverpool, I think he would be a big success given the chance to show what he can really do! I think we should keep the lad for a season to see what hes really about! Id love to know what the deal is with this 'star loan signing' could you give us any information? would be outstanding if you have any idea ed, cheers love the site, keep up the brilliant work!

Belguim!

If you were in a trench in a battle who would you want beside you - Alberto Aquilani or Joe Allen? I know who I'd prefer.

Aqualani, because he might have some Meat balls like a momma use to make.It gets hungry in them trenches.

Probabyl a trained soilder, not some ponse with a football

Allen won't be on 6.2 million a year. allen also won't be in the hospital beds all season.
derryred

I would prefer Tommy Smith

31 Jul 2012 03:43:58
I think its quite simple nowadays.. if a big enough offer comes in.. ANY player is for sale!
We paid over the top for Carroll, Downing and Henderson..

All three have potential to be good, if not great players however, if there is any chance we can recoup more than we paid for them.. then they are for sale!
If someone offered 40m for Suarez I think theyd take it and spend the money on cheaper players.. Similar to how Wenger works at Arsenal.

Rodgers has said Carroll will not be going out on loan, West Ham have distanced themselves from any supposed deal. It doesnt make any sense to send him out on loan..

I think he will still be Liverpools Number 9 come the end of the transfer window and all this talk of him leaving will be found to be media hype.

Though might be wishfull thinking on my part :)

ItsNotRocketScience

Not sure if Downing has potential, mate. Do you not think he is at his best now?

cozinoz

Hi Cozinoz

I think half the squad isnt at its best.. doesnt mean they wont come good with better tactics and other players picking up and playing better.. Downing is a good player, he wasnt awful last season but certainly wasnt the player we paid for, but at any point this could all change, he could have a fantastic first half of the season and by January we all love him! Whether he gets a game tho in the new formation is another question!
ItsNotRocketScience

31 Jul 2012 03:37:00
Just a quick question: would you accept a double straight-swap with Real Madrid, Suarez and Agger going one way, Ozil and Sahin going the other? Maybe a couple of million for us aswell? And also what does everyone think of Jack Butland? {Ed049's Note - No for the swap deal as much as I like Ozil, Suarez and Agger are very important members of our squad;Jack Butland would be a great addition to our squad.}

Would we swap our star striker and best defender for two more midfielders?

i dont think so.

Ozil and higuain perhaps but we would still have to buy a new cb.

I agree with ed049. also the madrid players will be on huge wages.
derryred

31 Jul 2012 02:47:14
Hi eds whats the situation with Ramirez ? Thanks {Ed049's Note - Use the search function.}

31 Jul 2012 02:28:03
So ed whats up with the claims that there has been no bid for Andy Carroll or Aquilani? There are also reports that the Jen Chang statement is fake now. Im very confused, have West Ham bid for Carroll and have we accepted it?
Cheers
KiwiRed {Ed049's Note - There has been no bid as of yet.}

31 Jul 2012 03:16:11
i dont get what all the fuss and hullabaloo is over Chevrolet sponsoring us and united is? i mean honestly... think about it. were getting extra cash in the pocket and dont have to have the name on the jerseys. hardly anyone cares who the car sponsor is. why should we? JLFC

Rangers and Celtic were both sponsored by Carling. I doubt supporters would mix up the shirts?

I agree I don't get why people are kickin off over it either. I mean in the bigger picture is it even important or relevant?!
Thats one of the things wrong about some football supporters today they're so obsessed with whats going on on the business side of it i.e. sponsors, players wages, what is paid for a player, that they forget to do what they're meant to be doing and supporting the manager and the team in getting results on the pitch!

30 Jul 2012 18:22:20
question for a liverpool supporting ed, in your opinion who are the most likely candidates for us to bring in on loan?

Thanks {Ed049's Note - It's impossible to tell mate.}

31 Jul 2012 02:26:51
Alrite Ed
Fans should think a bit different with this potential loan singing!
Rodgers said were going to sign a big player who the fans will love! That was borini!
This loan signing may not be as high profile as we think. {Ed049's Note - You realize Rodgers didn't say that we're going to sign a world class player on loan.}

31 Jul 2012 12:37:10
I think the fans will love Borini. He's a warrior, a battler, a character, who gives 150% on the pitch and I think the fans will respond. Roma fans were really dissapointed when he left.

31 Jul 2012 01:25:20
eds why do you hate the daily mail so much ? everytime someone mentions it you go crazy {Ed001's Note - as I have pointed out, they employ McKenzie, that should be enough for any self-respecting Liverpool fan to avoid it like the plague. If you don't know why, then you should take the time to find out for yourself.}

Dont waste your time on this scum lowest of the low hate this man cant even say the name oh yer i can c**t(sorry eds rant over )

Well he is taking the time to find out why you hate the daily mail, by asking you, how else is he supposed to do it??

Why do someone dislike this?

And because Kelv*n McKenzie is the biggest rotten f**k ever lived. ALL liverpool supporters should know this,no matter where youre from.

Why would people disagree with this?!

From Empireofthekop:

Warning! This article has some content, language and descriptions that some might find upsetting or disturbing.

The name Kelvin MacKenzie alone generates emotions amongst Liverpool people and fans that are extremely difficult to translate into print, purely because of his inexcusable behaviour he has delivered to the people of Liverpool.

For those readers who are unaware of Kelvin MacKenzie and his connection with the City of Liverpool and the football club all will be explained in this article.

In April 1989 Liverpool Football Club and its people changed forever, the Hillsborough disaster claimed 96 Liverpool supporters lives and left a city devastated to this day.

MacKenzie was the editor of The Sun newspaper at the time of the disaster and was solely responsible for the publishing of the front page headline called The Truthť which listed three sub headings

Some Fans Picked Pockets of Victims

Some Fans Urinated on the Brave Cops

Some Fans Beat Up PC Giving Kiss Of Life

The accompanying article claimed that ticketless and drunken Liverpool fans were responsible for the disaster, having supposedly tried to fight their way into the stadium by rushing the turnstiles and attacking policemen and stwerads outside the ground.

More specific allegations were made by MacKenzie, he claimed that during the disaster itself Liverpool fans who had escaped the crush and managed to get onto the pitch area had stolen wallets and other items from the dead, and that they had urinated over policemen and the bodies of dead fans and had beaten policemen, ambulance men and rescue workers attempting to save the lives of other fans.

But one of the most single dispicable allagation from MacKenzie was a claim the Liverpool fans had abused a body of a dead girl after shouting throw her up and we'll f*** herť to policemen moving her dead body away.

MacKenzie claimed the sources for these allegations were stated to be anonymous high-ranking police officers from Sheffield Police and Irvine Patnick, who at the time was a Conservative MP from Sheffield who wasn't even at the game.

The coverage and the allegations caused intense uproar on Merseyside and widespread condemnation from many commentators. The Press Council described the allegations as liesť.

The official government enquiry into the disaster dismissed the allegation that drunken or violent Liverpool fans had been responsible for the disaster and concluded that inadequate crowd control and errors by the police had been the primary cause of the tragedy.

After the disaster Rupert Murdoch ordered MacKenzie to make an apology, MacKenzie when on BBC radio 4 and said It was my decision and my decision alone to do that front page in that way and I made a rather serious errorť.

MacKenzie appeared before a House of Commons National Heritage Select Committee and told them I regret Hillsborough. It was a fundamental mistake. The mistake was I believed what an MP said. It was a Tory MP. If he had not said it and the chief superintendent (David Duckenfield) had not agreed with it, we would not have gone with itť.

MacKenzie would discuss Hillsborough again in 1996 on BBC radio 4 but this time saying The Sun did not accuse anybody of anything. We were the vehicle for othersť.

As a result of The Sun's coverage of Hillsborough the paper is still virtually unsellable in most of Merseyside costing News International millions of pounds per year.

MacKenzie would reignite raw wounds in Merseyside by commenting at a after-dinner speech to Mincoffs Solicitors LLP in November 2006, he told guests All I did wrong there was tell the truth. There was a surge of Liverpool fans who had been drinking and that is what caused the disaster. The only thing different we did was put it under the headline The Truthť. I went on The World at One the next day and apologised. I only did that because Rupert Murdoch told me to. I wasn't sorry then and I'm not sorry now because we told the truthť.

In January 2007 MacKenzie appeared on BBC TV's Question Time programme, held in Kent. Towards the end of the program, MacKenzie was asked by presenter David Dimbleby about The Sun's claims about the Hillsborough disaster. MacKenzie stated that he stands by his allegation that ticket-less fans were the cause of the disaster but that he does not know whether the other allegations about theft from the dead and fans urinating over victims and policemen were true. Clare Short MP suggested MacKenzie should apologise to the bereaved families and survivors who say that his claims cause them distress and hurt but he refused, claiming that it would make no difference anyway due to the bad blood between himself and Liverpool Football Club.

MacKenzie suggested that those who feel angry at him should instead direct their anger towards someone who caused the disasterť. MacKenzie was heckled by some members of the audience while Short was applauded when she repeated her suggestion that he should retract his claims and apologise, but MacKenzie remained adamant that he had nothing to apologise for.

Just so readers can grasp the type of creature Kelvin MacKenzie is here is a quote made by him in the early 80s on the subject of how he perceived his target audience and how he approached the profession of journalism. You just don't understand the readers, do you, eh? He's the bloke you see in the pub, a right old fascist, wants to send the wogs back, buy his poxy council house, he's afraid of the unions, afraid of the Russians, hates the queers and the weirdos and drug dealers. He doesn't want to hear about that stuff (serious news).

MacKenzie's lies are still believed by some people who don't know the truth about Hillsborough or have not been educated by people who know what really happen.

But there are people who MacKenzie can never mislead, the Hillsborough Family Support Group (HFSG) who are the torch holders of hope, a beacon of justice and the forefront of everything that's decent about the City of Liverpool and its supporters. Then you have the Hillsborough Justice Campaign (HJC) a fantastic group of people who's only quest is to secure justice for the 96 fans who never returned home and to educate those who don't know the real truth about Hillsborough. Combined with the incredible Members of Parliament who spoke so emotionally in the Houses of Parliament for justice and full disclosure you have a force that MacKenzie cannot even begin to understand.

Kelvin MacKenzie could never have anticipated the backlash his lies would have on the people of Liverpool and what he never expected was a togetherness that would last 22 years, it doesn't matter if your a Red or a Blue it doesn't matter if you live in Huyton or Honolulu it doesn't matter if you were there or not we are all Liverpool and we stand together as one.

Kelvin MacKenzie will never be able to break us or mislead us with lies in the same way he did others and we will not stop until he is made accountable for his lies.

Everyone needs to boycott all his TV & radio shows which including Sky press preview ITV's This Morning and BBC Radio also The Daily Mail who incredibly still let him write.

And it is probably the only topic where insults are given a free reign. Good work Ed001,....McKenzie is and will always be a dirtbag lowlife

cozinoz

He is pure excrement...a bit like those who hit disagree

To the Empire of the kop thank you for your post excellent .As a fan that was there that awful day and was not drunk but very lucky because myself and three friends walked down that tunnel only for my mate to say lets got to the chippy that was inside the ground . I stood next to were the police box was sittuated and had a first hand view of what happened outside the ground and inside the ground firstly outside we were being searched by the police on the turn styles which caused a massive backlog of fans trying to get in when I confronted the police officer he said shut up or ill have you arrested . I got into the ground and not a steward to be seen I turned around and could see the fans getting impatient with the police on the turn styles myself and my three friends went as I have said down the tunnel at the leapings lane end but came out and went and stood to the right under the police box I seen a surge of fans streaming in to the leapings lane and that was when it was quite obvious some thing was wrong we could see people being crushed but the police just stood and watched there were people being lifted over the fence and the police pushing them back into the crowd by this time the game was stopped the next thing was a stream of police men in riot gear strung across the half way line with battens and shields and dogs this when bodies were being pushed over the fence . The bodies were being layed out on the pitch by the goal lines in front of my eyes Lfc fans had got out and were carrying and giving resusatation to the victims as were some police officers . were we were we could walk around there was that much room a lad seen a body being put down on the grass infront of us and he screamed it was his brother their was a gate to the pitch were a police officer was stood the lad went to the policeman told him it was his brother the police man just turned his back and stood facing the bodies the lad had to climb over the fence to get to his brother who I believe had passed away after a fan had tried to give him the kiss of life they the fans laid a young woman on the ground and tried to bring her around but she was dead a little boy was next he was not moving a man in a suit was helping him he ran across the pitch to get an oxygen bottle but when he got back the bottle was empty because he threw it to the ground I believe he was a club doctor then LFC fans started ripping the sign boards down and using them to carry people on . as you can imagine we were dumb struck unable to help the police superintendent in charge was running around like he was completly unable to cope he would run down the side lines then back to the police box Kenny Dalglish even came down to were we were asking the police superintendant to do something there were bodies strewn infront of us then the local fire brigade arived and cut the fences so people could survive . I have given you these details in grafic details because I seen it all I was not drunk I was not on drugs I was completly in control even though I was watching the death of these poor human beings who had only come to watch a football match and I would swear in a court of law or on the holy bible in the Liverpool cathedral that I can honestly say I never seen any one urinate ,rob,disrespectanybody or attack the police I can honestly say I did see fans try to help the injured and dying fans what that person reported was complete fabrication lies deciept untruths and I hope for the 96 fans that if that man gets to meet his maker which I doubt he will ,God punishers him for what he printed in his scum paper and I hope he dies a horrid death along with murdoc and his cronies . I can remember everything I seen even after all these years I think about it everytime I see a football match and it hurts but not as much as that man's lies and untruths about what happened and how the Liverpool fans behaved sorry if nI have gone over the top but this is factual I no I had to stand a watch it unfold in front of my eyes JFT96 {Ed049's Note - top post mate, my eyes are wetter than usual. JFT96}

What about Murdoch? He's the one who profiteered over publishing that story

Red Ollie

What's his first name? I've tried to google him with no luck. Was he something to do with the Sun or is he that bloke from Kop Talk? And while we are on the subject Eds, why does the daily mail publish such anti LFC stuff (or am I being preccious).
I did read some time ago that the percentage accuracy of all papers was very poor, The GUARDIAN however was the most accurate. One final question (sorry) is the Echo reliable? I don't have access to purchase it but the releases get mentioned on here. Great site by the way!

Big star loan is villa, and Liverpool will try and purchase Torres and have the partnership of Villa, Torres, Suarez,

Wow.That certainly would be tasty.

If only that was true, as it would be fab.

I think we should pretend to try and sign Carlton Cole just to keep spurs occupied for a bit.

Square tomato

Yup this is so stupid. RB has a good eye for young talent.

Haha brilliant! You know it's bad when even commentators even mention how Tottenham keep going after players that Liverpool are after lol.

Long time reader first time poster.. First of all please Ed's stop posting all this negativity from these so called supporters.. I mean bitter Mancs And blue noses. I just want to assure all u real reds that there are good times ahead with BR in charge. I'm on holiday in Spain and in our complex there is someone who used to be a premiership manager has told me there is a signing comin soon who will surprise everyone.. Trust me the future is bright Just be patient.. It will be worth the waiting for.

I think most people have been pretty patient by now. Kuyt, aurelio, maxi,Carroll, aqualani are all out and I expect a few more.

Carroll and Aquilani are out? No, they are not...just BS and made up stories from the media. However, they migh be gone before the season starts, but let's not get ahead of ourselves...

Erik_Oslo

Have Carroll and Aquilani gone? Really?

The story about the LFC mole was taken from a RAWK user and tweeted, no truth in it.

Its looking very likely that we could lose Agger soon. Also Skrtel's agent is still trying to engineer a move as well. Losing one is bad, but two of them could destroy the season before it even starts.

manro

Won't happen.

i think the player on loan might be diego. would link well with suarez and plays the tika-taka style any thoughts ?

Would you consider Diego as a major star? I don't think so!

HEY ed! quick question, the squad for the europa league match has been released on the Europa league site, there's a lot of youngsters and i'm quite suprised with the ommission of Suso but all olympians are in it.... can the squad be changed?
LondonRed {Ed001's Note - it is not a final squad, just a squad for the qualifying rounds. The squad can be changed for the league stages themselves.}

Craig Bellamy isn't in it, does this mean anything? I hope he doesn't leave, if he does we'd need another striker and another winger imo

Red Ollie

Would it be fair to say the youngster he knows fit may get the time off? so he can test the new ones that come in and such and move from there since it can be changed?

30 Jul 2012 23:54:01
The rumoured Loan player is Kaka. An approach is likely, the success of the approach is unlikely. A striker, Midfielder (Allen) and attacking midfielder are areas which Rodgers wants to strengthen.

SWRED

30 Jul 2012 23:51:34
so what does everyone think of that boy borini then? i know that it's early days yet but in that friendly against spurs he was 2 good deliveries away from having a brace, i mean the space he found in that box was incredible. now people can moan all they want about how he wasn't the "exciting signing" they thought but that bit of smartness in the box is exactly what we lacked last season, and for roughly 8 million pounds that is a great start. now i know that it is early days but he looks promising and if all of rodgers buys have the same shrewdness then i'd be over the moon.
on another note i'm not impressed with the abuse given out to spearing. yes he isn't as gifted as we all hoped but he is willing to give his all bleed red for the shirt. he isn't on high wages and has never really complained about being dropped etc. that is the sort of player i want and i think there should always be a place in our squad for him.
derryred

Fully agree about Spearing - shouldn't be considered as a first teamer but definitely one for the squad

cozinoz

Mate he hasn't played a full match to get that sort of judgement. Assesments should be made over a period of games not 20 minutes of a friendly.

Nothing against him personally and would be happy for him to be around squad but this bleed for the shirt point is moot.

The Squirrel

Rodgers has said he's only looking to bring in "three or four" players. Looks like Allen and Dempsey will join, and Borini's already here so unless we see other departures I doubt we'll sign anyone else. So I was wondering how people would feel if the team below was our team next season. I personally would be pretty happy. Agree if you'd be happy, disagree if you wouldn't.

Reina
Johnson-Skrtel-Agger-Enrique
Gerrard-Lucas-Allen
Dempsey-Suarez-Borini

Subs: De Vries, Carragher, Kelly, Adam, Henderson, Downing, Bellamy

Red Ollie

I think we only need 2 or 3 more players in the right positions and we can be formidable. im Thinking
Reina
Json agger skrtel enrique
Lucas
Bellamy G.Ramirez
Gerrard
Suarez K. Mirallas

Sub: Kelly, henderson, Coates, Flanagan, Sterling, Adam, Borini.

If this team came "out not to play" I believe we WONT be out of the title race come christmas again!
DECO.

Carrol has just gone on loan. We need a replacement for him. Bellamy looks very likely to leave. And you can expect a few others as well. Allen borini and dempsey is not enough to cover: maxi, kuyt, aqualani,Carroll, aurelio and likely (Bellamy, spearing, Adam)

I think it's more likely to be jones and What about sterling?

30 Jul 2012 23:24:36
few of us want to see Kaka' to Liverpool so we say it's Kaka we get Loan. and some of us want Villa so Villa's name is there. I think both are very good player and we need a suprestar to boost our confident to high lavel. so many people say we are young team many unproven player maybe one superstar can change it.

r-r

30 Jul 2012 22:58:41
apparently spurs now want sterling for 7.5 million its getting a bit of of a joke first trying to buy are targets and then are players !

Ignore it. no way that will happen.

30 Jul 2012 22:45:26
Spurs need to pee off they are the most annoying team with that AVB bloke since fergie and united.
Right we do need to make improvements on the players we have. Downing isn't good enough, we need some creativity like Suarez so Ramirez is a good option and so is tello.
Skrtel or agger will leave so we should go for kjaar. Allen will be better than hendo and Adam. Borini will score a few not hundreds though. I think if we got villa or higuain on loan that would help a tad!

British players are good to have but can't cut the pressure sometimes when they have a big fee over their heads.

BR will be magic.

Spurs have had their chance they are desperate now to back avb but its their gamble.

30 Jul 2012 22:44:43
Love LFC and i have complete faith in Rodgers but if Carroll is leaving for 2 million loan i have to say i am completely surprised.

I have a feeling it is true. Unless we have pretty much be guaranteed £17 million final sell after a year it seems a very odd deal. Also, how could we be guaranteed a final sell at end of year? I mean West Ham may go down and then what?

Not a worried red, but thinking if this is true Rodgers must have something up his long sleeve!

Gareth

30 Jul 2012 22:38:20
I have been told that when Carroll is off loaded we will be making a bid for Darren Bent, paying £20m as BR is looking for a proven goal scorer. Have you heard anything re this?

Great site as always.
Westy96

Even worse buy than carroll , i think we have learned a lesson and should not get our fingers burnt again.

30 Jul 2012 22:02:45
Outs

Kuyt. 1 million.
Rodriguez. Free.
Aurelio. Free.
Aqualani. 5-7 million.
Jones.. Free.

Possibles.

Carroll 18 million.
Adam. 4-6 million.
Spearing. 2-4 million.
Eccleston. 1-2 million.

Loans.
Shelvey.
Wilson.
Flanagan.

Ins.

Kaka (Loan).
Ramirez. 16 million.
Gaitan. 18 million.
Borini. 8-11 million.

If this is what happens I'd be more than happy with our dealing this summer. We would have reduced the wagebill significantly in 12 months, and we would have given some promising youngsters loans into the prem league for experience.

Come January if we are in the hints for a top four place. I hope we sell Downing and at attemp to sign Dzagoev as a replacement. With our season form and style of play maybe we could sway him to Anfield on a free.

All a long shot but that's what I want to happen.

Jonesred

Ramirez and Gaitan would be amazing! I'd prefer Higuain than Kaka. Also I don't see Shelvey going on loan, I think the lad could grow into a star this season.
I think Joe Allens pretty much a done deal.

30 Jul 2012 22:29:08
nobody in here mentions RVP as the mighty loan striker, is that not realistic?

Why would Arsenal loan a player to one of their Top 4 rivals? It makes no sense. Same goes for Adebayor and Tevez

cozinoz

Just answered your own question there! lets loan him for a year and get him on a free after haha

Adebayor went on loan to spurs last season... Anything can happen!

Might be Arsenal's top 4 rivals but we're certainly no threat to City that's for sure.

Mancini dont want adebayor, hence loaning him.

wenger wants RVP, and wont loan him.

Kaizer

We are not considered a top 4 rival...trust me

Not even remotely. why would arsenal loan a player in his last year of his contract when they could sell for 20m. Haha. where you being serious?

RVP is in the last year of his contract why would wenger loan him?

Use some common sesne and a litle bit of deduction boyz

I don't even think Liverpool can be classed as a top for rival anymore.....

The origional post was quite clearly a joke, why are yous fallin for it?

30 Jul 2012 22:26:58
Has the Penny started to drop yet?The owners want brenden to work with what we have and sell to buy. He,ll keep Aquilani and shelvey and look to build a young team with only Borini,Allen and a pacey striker coming .We need to keep on to players more. This may come across as negative but we have class that can play under brenden ,just don,t expect big signings

Except Aquilani is off to Italy

Liverpool signed a deal with chevrolet last week and this week chevrolet is sponsoring man u jerseys? There must be a serious F%$ Up in the marketing dept. I am getting really pi$$$£$ off with some of the decisions and silence from the club lately. We need to drop chevrolet. get the boys to work in a fiat lada. {Ed001's Note - why? Are you that sad that it matters?}

Why does that car deal non-sense matter?! Seriously man get a life!

Football Fan 101: Judging a manager

How do you judge a football manager in 2012. The first thing to ask yourself is did you want the previous manager to stay? If you did then the new man's default position is a complete failure.
The next thing to ask is - do you like the new guy? This can be a complex question. If he has never managed in this country, you've never seen his teams play and has an exotic sounding name then his stock increases. If he claims his teams have reinvented the wheel then his stock rises further. If he has a track record of success in a weaker league then his default position is still higher. But if you have a manager who has worked in this country and has not won every match playing the beautiful game his default position is abject failure.

Next is the transfer market. Now most fans in 2012 know the transfer market better than most managers/scouts through their extensive research on YouTube and Football manager based video games. So the new manager is walking in a minefield. The only way a manager can succeed when selling players is by selling players who are failing for more money than a previous regime paid for them. If the player is playing well, the manager is a fool. If the player has had a recent 2-3 game good run, he must not be moved on regardless of previous failure.

Buying players is quite literally a no-win situation. So therefore whichever manager comes in will get abuse for any player that doesn't play well every game. you must never praise a manager for buying a player who has a good game.
Then there's performances on the pitch. This is rapidly losing significance in the modern day game. In terms of judging the manager, it should only be used as a means of abusing the manager. A good performance means the players get praise for playing well in spite of the manager. A poor performance means the manager takes the blame regardless of the scoreline.
Finally there are results. It must be bourne in mind that the only results which count as a positive are those in the Premier league and the Champions league. Results in other matches (aka friendlies) can only be used as a way of abusing the manager. If your team beats a perceived weaker team but doesn't dominate every phase of play and doesn't get a clean sheet whilst scoring at least 4 goals, then that is a means of abusing the manager too.

When your manager is sacked then the important thing to do is reverse the judgement process before the new manager comes in. Former managers must only be remembered for their successes and their failures must be excused and re-written to seem like successes.

If your manager resigns for another club, then the judgement system is void and they should only be seen as ruthless mercenaries.

THE QUAGGAR

Love it. Absolutely spot on (with the small exception of Roy Hodgson)

The 'major star' loan will be Adebayor if we get one, don't see him as a major star myself but he knows where the net is

30 Jul 2012 22:14:46
When Torres moved to Chelsea, the next day Agger said these exact words

He said: "I think it's unacceptable to play for one of Liverpool's rivals. For a Dane it is about having respect for the club you play at.

"I am proud to pull on my Liverpool jersey and will never go to another club in England."

I know players sometimes say these things and dont mean them, but its not like Agger was asked "would" he move, he simply came out and spoke out, seeming genuinly annoyed.
If hes a man of his word, we can rule out Man City,
Not sure about the others tho

Agger also gave Torres a good elbow to the face to show his view in the game against Chelsea!

JTR

The truth hurts, but back then LFC had only just dropped to the europa league and them teams were our rivals- we were about 6th they were about 4th. We are now 8th and Man City are 1st, so you couldnt really blame Agger.

Remember the everton player who said once a blue always a blue and he is ,but still left .

Oops Ed's looks like my last post was a load of rubbish sorry, I was sent it by a mate saying it had been confirmed by the club! But looking around it clearly hasn't. If you could would you please not post it, if it's too late, I apologise, and know realise it's made up rubbish, ah well.

30 Jul 2012 21:54:40
I read somewhere that the communications dpt of Liverpool actually made bogus stories of deals being close to be signed of Aquilani and Carrol, to find the mole who's been leaking transfer info out of the club! Know anything about this eds?
personally, it would explain the dempsey and allen situations but I don't think there's any truth in it. Eds?

PakiRed. {Ed001's Note - someone has received their marching orders mate.}

Jen Chang or whoever said it was untrue, and it was apparently a story fabricated on twitter

Ah, smokescreens within smokescreens. What if the 'test' was actually the release of the info that it was all really a 'mole hunting test'?

It's like Inception here at LFC...

30 Jul 2012 21:52:09
Any chance of Nicolai Boilesen?

Young left back at Ajax, only 20, already a full international with Denmark, looks very promising.

Enrique had a few 'shakey' performances towards the end of last season, so would be good to see another left back come in to fight for that spot.

I'd like to see Robinson go on loan.

SMC

Why not Steve Davies age 10 from Australia he is the best player in his class and scored lots of goals on the playground last year. We are missing a finisher.

30 Jul 2012 21:52:01
In all honesty I would rather the Carroll move was a permanent deal. We sadly lack funds and the 18-20 fee is vital for new players.

I don't want to see another Aqualani situation were the club has moved on in 12 months time, and we need to loan him again because other clubs know we a re desperate to offload.

A permanent deal Is best for all round.

Ed do you have anything further on whether there has been any deal for him at all?

Also good to see Aqualani leave must have been on at least 80 grand a week and hopefully we got the reported 6.5 million for him, if we did good negotiating by the club as I'm amazed if we have.

Anyway if it is 6.5 and we get 18 million for Carrol that gives the manager a good amount of money to at least bring one in this week.

Let's hope it's a big one.

With Rodgers links is say the loan is from Madrid - mourhinho likes him and is going to have surplus forwards when they finish buying this summer.

Is that how football business works then? You loan out players to your mates?

30 Jul 2012 21:45:45
Does real Madrid barca or city want Glen Johnson ?
No, damn, hope agger stays he may not be that effective but his quality won't be replaced at Liverpool and we don't want to turn into an average team without star players.

30 Jul 2012 21:45:33
No deals for Aqualani or Carroll. Look; Liverpool FC has confirmed today that a mole within the corporate communications division has been discovered, located and eliminated. Over the last 24 hours the club has released two bogus news stories indicating that they had accepted bids for two players (Andy Carroll and Alberto Aquilani) and that deals to sell those players were imminent.

In order to locate the errant staff member the club had to portray an act of almost complete fabrication knowing that the source of previous leaks would give away his/her position. The club has become known for its secrecy in transfer dealings and absolutely insists on continuing in this manner. It was therefore essential that the club deceived other staff, fans and press journalists alike to ensure the lie was kept completely confidential.

Jen Chang, Liverpool's Director of Communications was unavailable for comment, but quickly released a short statement through junior LFC staff – "We apologise to all our fans around the world for the recent confusion surrounding players and transfers. Complete secrecy was required for a successful mole hunt, and we are now happy to confirm normal service resuming. We can categorically say that no deals have been agreed for Andy Carroll or Alberto Aquilani"
A Kopite

HI Eds, Is this true?

thanks {Ed001's Note - Jen Chang has rubbished it.}

We need to boost our attacking options and fast.

I'm sure £15m will get Crouchy back for us

30 Jul 2012 21:37:05
Is it just me or is it starting to look like Rodgers isnt always sure what hes saying. He says we are going to get exciting signings and we get Borini, then Carroll will def not go out on loan and now it looks like he could be! I hope I am wrong but for all you fans saying Rodgers will be great because he talks sense, Id rather wait and see if talking great brings results. Swansea struggled when teams didnt give them much space so I remain open minded but cautious about how well Rodgers system will work against teams who come and park the bus at Anfield

Andy

30 Jul 2012 21:36:35
So citeh wanted Lescott who in my opinion isnt fit to tie aggers boots and he cost them 25m, now they want agger to replace him and they think they can get him for 13m? EH? 25m and then we might think about it, otherwise jog on citeh!

30 Jul 2012 21:36:32
I'd treat this Carroll loan to West Ham on loan story with a degree of suspicion. At least two other clubs are interested in him so it does no harm to jog them along. More likely he'll be northern-based in either this country or one in Europe.

PieInTheSkyMan

It does not make sense for him to go on loan. I thought we wanted money to help strengthen the team if AC went. The hammers deal weakens the team and brings in no money.

30 Jul 2012 21:30:50
Could be Alonso signing on loan... Makes sense to me He is a major star

Wouldn't the sense be in getting a striker or attacking wide player on loan?
No chance in Xabi Alonso as he's still a major major part of Real Madrids immediate plans, there's probably more chance of Gonzalo Higuain than Xabi Alonso.

Tom Cruise is also a 'major star' doesnt mean he's gonna be our 'loan star!'

Tom Cruise is short enough for tika-taka, I think he'd fit into BR's plans. Surely FSG being American can use some influence, but I expect Spurs will just step in and snatch him anyway

30 Jul 2012 21:29:59
Really hope BBC are wrong in what they're reporting we need Carroll he's class

We don't need him

When carroll plays its like starting with 10 men {Ed049's Note - Cut him some slack mate.}

30 Jul 2012 21:24:29
LFC fans DO NOT PANIC do not KICK OFF, CALM DOWN CALM DOWN, ALL IS GOOD IN THE HOOD. Just wait for Carroll to leave to Newcastle, not West Ham as Twitter is making out. Next player in you will love, you will adore, you will sing and shout about. Not a loan signing either. FSG will prove their worth with this one. CANARY

Thank you i love the positive attitude, if carroll leaves than surely we will invest in another CF, and for the money we will get to spend on him, and rodgers intelligence with regards to transfers, we could well be getting a new torres
derryred

Hope to God you are right Mr Canary as all the talk is of our better more promising players being sold (carrol/agger/Skrtel/Bellamy/rein etc) or loaned out (Shelvey/sterling/suso etc) or put to pasture
It is all getting a bit depressing..........

He signed a 6 year deal at Liverpool.

He scored in a reserve match in the USA and he scored on the 21st July during the 8-4 win over Bury.

Tom. {Ed049's Note - You sure about the 6 year deal?}
