Use our rumours form to send us liverpool transfer rumours.

Hi everybody

I've got a ?? for the edds & macca

I know it's a long shot but is there any way of find out how much wages we pay each player on our books?

TheBA300 {Ed002's Note - Probably but I think it is inappropriate to discuss that at any length. Certainly some are on very excessive wages (El Zhar and Degen are the best examples earning more than £90k per week between them). These are the issues that the club are trying to resolve.}

Hi ed's, not really a rumour, nor is it banter but I was told recently that Steven Gerrard was at Melwood today, doing some "light" walking on the treadmill, after being discharged from hospital early as his antibiotic course was more successful than first thought. This is good to see for him and good for the football club as I believe this could be a big year for LFC, I am quietly confident :)

Much Respect and YNWA

Raheem Sterling travelling with the first team squad to Norway ATM, according to his twitter account

also, one to watch - Dave Moli playing for the U-19s at 15 - a la Raheem Sterling

Park chu young can only really run for 60 minutes but is enthusiastic in his pursuit of the ball. Got a great right foot too I think he's an ideal back up striker for us, and if he does arrive then think it's great business. Play as a left wing forward for the last 20 minutes of the game and I think he will frustrate most defences. Liquid

31 Jul 2011 23:23:08
Been told that the reason that we signed Downing over Mata is that they were never competing for the same position. Downing will play on the left of a three man central midfield as will Henderson on the right in Gerrards abscence (two very specialized players). Hence we are going to sign another striker as opposed to a right winger and so keen on only Enrique to provide more width and crossing.

Sorry if this had already been answered but can anyone tell me what time the freindly match kicks off tomorrow?

Thanks

Hi eds great site BTW could anyone shed any light on why raul mireles has not traveled 2 Norway. Cheers eds please reply. Jodethered. {Ed002's Note - I don't know. I also don't know if he is still looking for another club or not.}

31 Jul 2011 22:53:14
i remember when peter crouch signed, everybody loved him even though he went 19 games without a goal, our centre forward yes, went 19 games without a goal and we still loved him, and then it happend for him, why is it fans are giving carroll the same support, he's only played 7 games, and not all of them have been full matches,
unbelivable, difference between carroll and crouch, a price tag, andy will NOT go 19 games without a goal, he will bag plenty, he will set up plenty, his all round game will be positive for eveyone around him, give the guy a break, fuc*ing hell, bunch of jokers on here, you need to go to the doc's and get the amount of prozac your on ramped up,

31 Jul 2011 22:46:42
Didn't really know who park chu young is so checked him out on YouTube , guys looks an absolute steal for 6m , craft , flair , skill , goals , energy , I know YouTube could make joe cole look good , but for that price worth a punt looks so much better than ngog , although I wouldn't sell ngog for 3m would loan him to Bolton for the season to play week in week out to gain some needed playing time

31 Jul 2011 22:33:00
People are missing the point with Carroll, people are saying "will he score us 20 a season?" "is he world world class??" answer NO. What he is, is a handful he draws players towards him like a magnet allowing players like Suarez more space. In corners he is a constant threat and this will come into play in ga, es that are not going our way, his knock ons will help us retain possesion and hold the ball up. Sure he's no Aguero but he was never meant to be. -Mc

Just heard some great news.
Raheem Sterling is to play on Monday with the rest of the squad. I'm not sure about Suso but the game tomorrow is going to be very interesting.

Was at the Man City Vs. Inter Milan game today and SWP was poor... We don't need and we shouldn't want him. Let;s focus on sorting out our defence.

31 Jul 2011 21:58:21
i agree with the earlier post why was it that no mega rich buyer came in for us ..lets be honest had anyonf heard of our current new owners did anyone want more yonks ..no but here we are remember a new owner was to sort out the staduim still waiting

31 Jul 2011 21:50:48
Just a comment on the Adam Johnson rumours. I'm a fan of Johnson and think he has quality. However my fiancee and her family are Middlesbrough fans and they always said Johnson and downing didn't play well We already have downing doubt johnson will work too

31 Jul 2011 21:34:41
Cant seem to reply to banter posts its about the mega rich owners I believe we have the right chairman for the task even tho they aint maga wealthy look at the job they have done with the boston redsox they cant compete any where near the financial muscle of the new york yankees but since they have took over they have won 2 titles to the yankees one the yankees are the baseball equivelant of man city but still the bo sox have betered them 60 percent of the time including this year where there 3 games in front so it shows you having all the money doesnt really matter I know different sport but fsg are trying to follow the same buisness model for us as the redsox and they have done a fantastic job there hopefully it will be the same for us I do feel were in the best hands possible although I would love some rich sheik, s fsg are good at what they do. Hi Ed's and Reds,

Can i ask Ed's..where were all these bottomless pit owners when we where up for sale..I mean, we are Liverpool FC, the most successful club in England, massive support world wide..and these guys buy Man City, Malaga, PSG and so on..to put these clubs on a par with us will take years, decades and a sh1t load of millions while getting very little money back in return.I'm sorry but it just doesnt add up.Dont get me wrong, I am delighted with our new owners.But I would love to know why others didnt look at us.
Was it because we needed a new stadium and the cost to buy us.. plus investment in players?..If that s the case, then look at it this way..Man City had a new stadium in place granted(so no money needed to buy a new one).But look what they have spent on players( for 1 FA Cup)100's of millions..SO club purchase plus players and they have easily spent the guts of £500m plus(for 1 FA CUP)..
Liverpool FC---To purchase £240m i think our owners paid.
Stadium-£300 to £400m would be close.
Players-£150-£200m to add to existing squad
Total- Around £800m
Not a big investment to own a club with such great history and world wide support.It baffles me that a club that was relegated as often as it was promoted can become an attractive club to buy.We can all sit here and say..I they can keep their Augueros and whomever, , but not one of us would have complained if he had signed on the dotted line for us..We can all sit here and say we are not jealous of what City and the likes have at their disposal, I myself am not the jealous type..but one thing I am is envious and im confident in saying that if our own KK had their financial backing, he would damn sure be able to spend it.
I will more than likely get slayed on here for this, , but am i the only one who has ever thought..WHY NOT US..so there it is..EDS run this up the flag pole and see if anyone salutes it.

atlfc70 {Ed002's Note - I guess if you want to force the owners out and get new ones in you should be getting to the games and waving "Yonks Out" flags, starting Facebook groups etc..}

Hi eds sorry didnt finish my post
(down here in the caribbean we
have electrical outages)Its crazy
being left with this ghost squad who
were signed at ridiculous salaries,
who dont want to leave because
nobody in their right mind will pay
them anything close to what they
are earning at anfield, lets hope that
this group of owners have more
business savy than any of the
others for the last 50 years.

I've been critical of the past couple of friendlies and the team selection but I think we will see a strong team for tomorrow and a good performance. Looking forward to seeing a proper team on the pitch and a few goals - famous last words

Is Andy Carrol a world class striker that we need? Will he score 25-30 goals this season that will take us top four.

Ed002, I have read about these spots, it seems you may have a nasty one. I felt I had to google it for you to see if there was a cure; it recommended Lyclear Dermal Cream, I hope this helps, if not you may need to have surgery ;)

Hi eds great site especially in the off
season, One thing ALL Liverpudlians
will agree on suarez (upto this point)
was a fantastic buy, the person or
persons responsible for his signing
should have final say on future
signings and prevent us from ending
up with this ghost squad at rediculesss

31 Jul 2011 19:51:50
Am I the only one who thinks Ecclestone may be better than Ngog?

31 Jul 2011 19:46:33
I have to say i'm more than a little worried for the coming season, ( nothing to do with the awful pre season were having ) its the new signings we've made and it's nothing to do with their quality or even their price's although we clearly paid the top end on all three, but its the balance of the squad. For the last few years we've clearly been lacking at the back and up front, this season's priority's should have been a left back, centre half, winger and a striker, so for we've only filled 1 of those position's in Stewart Downing and we've made 4 signings, we have far to many midfielder's as it is and we buy Adam and Henderson . I know we've bought Henderson for his potential and Downing and Adam for the service they can provide for big Carroll but what if Carroll gets injured or does'nt live up to his reputation where's the plan b? I just hope we fill those position's with a few quality signings and if not i hope my concerns are proved wrong.

31 Jul 2011 19:40:23
Andy Carroll is going to be quality, unfortunately for him liverpool fans are judging him on his price tag, not his football, he's barely played for liverpool yet coming with his injury, but yet most people are saying he's a flop, so what will make you happy, he will have to score maybe 30 goals a season and assit at least 10 to repay his price tag, which might i add wasn't his fault, if we'd paid 15 million for him nobody would say a word, and he'd get a chance,
look at what he did last season, a hat trick against villa, an amazing goal against us and we couldn't handle him, he did the same against arsenal at the emirates for newcastle, won them the game, just look at what he did against City for us, it was amazing, his instinct to take a long range drive, and then getting in the right position for his header, this type of thing doesn't happen by accident,
people need to lay off his price tag and judge on next seasons performances, not pre-season, players don't put their body's on the line and give everything for the win in pre season, everybody knows that, he will be a quality player, but he will probably never live up to a 35 million pound price tag, just like torres won't for chavski with 50 million, like robinho didn't for 32 million, yet there both quality players, it's NOT a players fault how much he costs,
Downing, Adam, Henderson, suarez, Carroll, our last 5 outfield signings, all have great quality,
futures bright, futures RED

Evening all.

To the Eds. With Man City signing Aguero for a reported £200k a week and Tevez, (who may end up staying) Toure, Silva and many more on similar wages, how on earth are they going to be able to balance the books when the financial fair-play rules come in? I know they have sold the naming rights to their stadium for £400 million but do you know whether the rules are so easy to break that you can just sell "something" to an affiliated company to make everything "stack up, " much like how Real Madrid sell their training ground to the government for crazy money (or something like that.) The reason I ask is that wages are undoubtedly the biggest expenditure for a club and income through merchandise (which we dwarf a club like Man City on) is the biggest form of income. It looks as though we are signing players that won't ask for the moon in terms of wages (when I believe we could sign the Aguero's, Pastore's etc if they weren't so greedy) when a club like city can with a considerably smaller income. The point I'm making is that if the rules are inforced properly, Aguero et al will have to be sold sharpish to a club with a thicker revenue stream. Any info or opinion on how the next few years may pan out in terms of this?

Cheers, Ash {Ed002's Note - I am not going to try and explain the rules here, but my advice is not to worry yourself about them.}

Aguero rumers is gone , now adam jhonson come out. guys City will not sale him to Liverpool. as they know Liverpool is one of their main oposition for titel. Enriqe , Dan is possibly happen. Woner did use good amount of money with Suarez, carrol in summer. hope they use another £50m for 2/3 player.

hi all

just got back from the great city, yesterday myself and my family went on a legend tour....... what a day. anyway weeks ago i read on here about someone on one of these and they were told many things about the team and transfers. the question was asked again yesterday and guess what....................... the tour guide, staff and Ian Callaghan all said the same, only The King, Prince Clarke and commoli really know, its the liverpool way.

the guide (Dave) did give his personal insight to the stadium which was he believes an announcement will be made soon as the original application and lease is up in september, also recent interview with JH has given the greatest impression yet that a move will be on.

before my tour, the Stevie G injury update was on the news, i understand SG has had some scar tissue removed recently (so it is Claimed) which has contributed to the original delay also hence the possibility for an infection.

just to add to my weekend i spent today at the docks for pirate weekend, i even experienced a fish pedicure. that was weird but hey ho

hi ed, hope kk puts a strong team tomorrow, as john henry and linda have tweeted that they are in oslo and looking forward to the match, if they had seen the last 2 games im sure they would have given the club away,

I think we'll be probably the most dangerous team in the league at set pieces. Does anyone else think so.

What do you make of gerrards injury eds? Can you see him playing a big part this season or do you think he will be restricted to less than 20 games? Great site by the way, Glenn {Ed002's Note - You need to read through yesterday's post where Gerrard's groin was touched upon.}

hi ed, is there any interest in kolarov for left back? ive been watching him in the man city game now and he looks strong, pacey, good crosser and cant half hit a ball. thanks {Ed002's Note - None that I am aware of.}

I am very very positive about the upcoming season and about the signings we made. Can't wait for Aquaman and Meireles (and deadwood) to go so we could buy a centre-back. The only worry is that so many first team players haven't kicked the ball yet. Do you reckon, Ed, that we will have our top 11 staring against Valencia?
RHI {Ed002's Note - I suspect that you will see a strong team tomorrow.}

spurs and arsenal bidding for mata around 18m, at that price what a bargain surely we will put in a bid before we play valencia next saturday. he would be an excellent signing best player at euro under 21. him on one wing downing on the other would rip teams apart.
instead of going for mccarthy who? go for total class bring mata to anfield.
also get enrique a very good proven prem player.
also get cahill for centre half.

get rid of rubbish poulsen, aqua, insua, wilson, ngog,

i was at hull they are rubbish and should never pull a lfc shirt on again.

31 Jul 2011 16:30:31
im sorry to say but stevies days are numbered. i heard 6 months a go he had played his last game for us, but there not going to tell everyone this just yet, as having stevie play helps us attract other top players. this is an on going problem hes had for a while this is why we havnt seen the old explosive gerrard for some time. i personally think he might get the odd game for us like king does for spurs maybe but im bein told his time has passed. james mccarthy will probably be brought in, but only is poulsen and aqua go. think they have also tried to push jay spearing out on loan, but he wants to stay. maybe jonjo will go on loan too, but i dont know too much about this one. all i know is tha jonjo wants to prove himself at anfield were as coaches think he needs a season at another club having first team action to improve his decision making and mature as a player. carlos

Argentina ace Aguero left the Vicente Calderon for City earlier this week in a £38million deal after being linked with a string of Europe's leading clubs.

Forlan wishes the 23-year-old well but believes he would have been better off holding out for a move to Andre Villas Boas' Blues instead.

"It was no real surprise to see him leave, but I thought it would have been to a different club, " the former Manchester United forward told The People.

"Chelsea's game and squad are more suited to his style.

"Chelsea's game and squad are more suited to his style. And of course I am a Manchester United fan, so his decision to move to City is also painful for me."

Diego Forlan

I think this article can put to bed the Forlan rumours... Unless he is an person saying he's a fan of our rivals before joining us...

Enrique, Dann & Park Chu-Young will sign and thatt's it, Jovanovic, Poulson, Aqualani, Degen, El Zhar and Ngog will all leave either on permanent or loan deals. The club will push for permanent deals but players wages causing massive problem.

The owners and staff want a squad that will compete week in week out in the premier league to achieve 4th place or better. Then once Champions League football is achieved the house hold european names will then become realities.

I plead with fellow reds to be positive with the squad we will have on August 13th and get behind the players & manager as we have 38 cup finals this season. Our support is key to the success of our great club. We have some great players in the squad and it will only get stronger.

I for one am made up with the way our club is doing business although it is frustrating for the fans. But I would hate Kenny to be on Sky Sports News every 5 minutes discussing targets like Harry Redknapp and Roberto Mancini.

YNWA & lets all have faith.

To put all the Scott Dann rumours to bed let me confirm:
Firstly I dont live in newcastle and I havnt heard a rumour from a friend (that I dont have) in Liverpool who doesnt work in Melwood. However I can guarantee that if I had a friend who worked in an estate agents ( which I dont ) then Enrique would definitely look into his shop window in Liverpool, especially if he was in Leeds at the time.

I hope this clarifies everything and puts an end to the rumours that havnt started yet....by the way great site Eds

All these sightings of Enrique........... and not one photo to back it up...in this day and age surely one person would of had a mobile phone with a camera. Why not post the Truth...... Come on Eds sort the rubbish out {Ed002's Note - So you want us to not post rumours anymore? How am I going to know if it is true that Enrique has been seen in Liverpool or not?}

could liverpool afford xabi alonso?
(wages and transfer fee) {Ed002's Note - I really don't see him as an option I am afraid.}

31 Jul 2011 15:21:13
Hi Eds, I have watched all the pre season games and I just can't understand why we keep on playing Poulson when it's clear we don't want him and if it's to put him in the shop window surely its a mistake because the more he plays the more he looks crap Why don't we play our best available team so the good players can get used to each other Dub Red

31 Jul 2011 15:16:17
Been watching the Dublin Super Cup, does anybody know who the number 7 is for Airtricity - I know it is pre-season against a weakened Celtic side but looks very good?

31 Jul 2011 15:05:41
Just to clarify about these bulls**t stories of seeing players in estate agents around Liverpool. There is an appartment complex in Sefton Park called Conniston House just off Mossley Hill drive which houses both Everton and Liverpool players for a few months until a more suitable place is found. So Enrique was seen in an estate agents bull Btw my source is myself my sister lives there. Her next door neighbour is Gueye at Everton and next to him lives Bilyatdenov however you spell it.

One thing is for sure, we need to qualify for the CL 2012/2013. We can't afford to be out of the CL another season. I feel we HAVE to sign a quality LB and a CB to make it happen. I personally would go for Enrique and Dann. I would be happy to see a natural right winger too. Now I know alot of people will disagree and he possibly would not fall under FSG's policy but why do we not go for Shuan Wright Phillips? He is not in City's plans and also won't cost an arm and leg. Only thing might be his wages. I think we have enough upfront though. Kuyt, Carroll and Suarez can do the business for us.

Add a LB, CB and a RW and we will without a doubt be back in the CL 2012/2013 and it will improve our chances of challenging for the holy grail.

I am surprised that premier league sides are not queuing up for Shane Long. He performed very well for Reading last season and played a part in Readings short lived premier league success a few years back. He also has won many admirers for his performances for the Rep. of Ireland. He is now 24 and could be ready to play a bigger role in the premier league.

31 Jul 2011 13:48:12
Few people saying they've seen Enrique in Liverpool. I know if it were me I'd have got a picture of him, so come on then boys, back it up, post a picture. The eds have twitter so can use that to upload them.

31 Jul 2011 14:02:06
hey ed, i was wondering about Xabi Alonso, he was so good for liverpool and still is, do you think there is a chance of him returning? there was the interview and i heard he wanted a return and it could be possible, what do you think? and how much would be a reasonable offer for him now? thanks x {Ed002's Note - Perhaps at some point in the future.}

31 Jul 2011 14:00:06
ed most lfc fans say that they would prefer aly cissokho than jose enrique i disagree. jose enrique might cost more but he has premier league experience which aly cissokho does not. Also he might be a flop like dossena. Another point is that if we get dann and enrique I believe that we can challenge for the premier league.What do you think eds?? {Ed002's Note - I am not convinced that Liverpool will be challenging for first this coming season even with Dann and Enrique. But challenging for Europe is a realistic target.}

soo... henderson is a preferred right winger but was played as cental defnder for england under 21's who which didnt make very far in the euro's, wonder why, not very good management, me thinks.

31 Jul 2011 13:16:02
I have noticed that Suso and Sterling have been given squad numbers. Does that mean they will be used more in the 1st team this year as I have watched them over the last year and think they are both quality players. Especially Sterling what great cover for Downing down the left.

31 Jul 2011 12:58:11
Well, I myself am not sure about the Enrique sightings, but I do know Newcastle are travelling to Leeds united for a friendly today, if he plays then it's very unlikely these sightings are true. Kelly23

Ed, I just wanted to know what happened to my post this morning?
I was awaiting your reply to a question there about Sissoko Moussa.
I can't find it.

Really, really sad news about the skin.
Hope they find some miracle solution if there's one.
One last shot at glory is the least the man who's carried this club on his shoulders deserves.

It would be a travesty of justice that when we can finally genuinely compete; when at last there's quality round the team, he's forced to sit out the battle.
Stevie still has a lot to give this team.
Fowler, have mercy upon him. {Ed002's Note - I can't say what happened to you post - I did not see it. Sorry.}

Estate Agents may well be open on a Sunday bit I doubt it would be before 10.00am. Did no-one think to take a photo and send it in as proof Enrique was there. I assume as you can post on here you can take a photo (can you ask him if he wants to buy my house)

Just spent 3 days working with a Sunderland season ticket holder....he was completely amazed when i told him some fans have been questioning Henderson's ability. He watched him every week, describes him as top drawer and interestingly said he played his best football as a right winger.
His work colleague was a Newcastle fan (quality banter between the 2 of them) so got chatting about Carroll too....his words not mine "he's an unplayable animal when he's fit....gutted he left"
So lads, they have seen them way more than us so lets lay off, back our boys and reserve judgement until xmas.
How about the Eds don't even bother posting the immature negative comments? They bore me, frustrate me and waste good time reading them....quality site by the way

Park chu-young is a player who would fit in to LFC, especially with doubts over Stevie G. He is genuinely able to play anywhere across the park and has great vision for passes and contributes with goals. He would add that little bit of guile required. Commercially would be a sound investment. Should get Standard Chartered to buy him

EVO YNWA {Ed002's Note - Standard Chartered are not going to buy him - and he is a striker not a midfield player. Perhaps you are confusing him with someone else.}

over the past 9 months i've posted on here 3 or 4 times about david goodwillie, now i know other posters have aswell so i know i'm not the only one on here who thinks at £2m this lad would be an ideal back-up striker, he's got pace, great workrate and also has an eye for goal IMO already a better player than ngog will ever be, yet every time i post about him i find the replies from the ed's quite conderscending, ranging from 'not good enough' or 'he's trouble' funny enough some of the same comments we heard before andy caroll signed well just to let the ed's know his court cas has been dropped and i wonder in any of you have actually seen the lad play, hopefully i will do this afternoon as i'm off to watch hearts v dundee utd, just a qustion for everyone out there, how many of you ha heard of let alone saw chicarito play before the mancs signed him, just because this lads name doesn't end with an 'o' or 'ez' people don't think he's good enough people should realise there's still talent out there in the SPL or the championship, just because they don't play in seria A or la liga and cost between £15m and £20m does not mean they can't hack it in the over rated premier league.
paul {Ed001's Note - have you seen how many court cases he has? The rape charge is the only one dropped, not his third assault charge, that is still awaiting trial, following on from previous convictions. He is not worth 2m anyway, certainly not good enough to pull on a Liverpool shirt unless he buys one from the club shop like the rest of us.}

i really do believe that the treatment Aqualani is currently receiving from the so called fans is a disgrace to Liverpool Football club. He is still our player and should be given 100% loyal support, as should all the Liverpool players under King Kenny. Please stop slating our players...... In King Kenny we trust

G'Day all,

Personally I can see Dann a red he checks all the boxes and hope this to be the case, Though the negative vibes bantering about after a couple of PRE season results is crazy, Lets all support the boys and our King remember after KK graced the touch line our record was fantastic apart from a couple of adverse results in the last few games.

31 Jul 2011 12:06:09
Does anyone else feel that we will be playing with 10 men for most of the games this season as Carroll will be playing? I just think that any striker worth £35m should have an all round game and not just raw talent that may never show. e.g. Neil mellor.

Also is it wrong to expect 20 goals a season from a striker that we have paid £35m for?

Eds

I am hearing from a reliable source that Gerrards Liverpool career is all but over.

The operation to re attach the tendons to the bone was initially successful but an unseen infection set in and the tendon mass has been reduced or for want of a better phrase "eaten away".

This effectively means there is no longer any tendon "spare" to fill in the gaps left behind by the infection. Antibiotics will kill the infection but he may need a tendon transplant to scaffold the area. The problem is that the tendon must be taken from another part of the body or grown in the lab, neither of which is easy or a short term fix. Tendons have a very limited blood supply and do not heal well or quickly.

Combined with Stevies age and the time required to fully heal plus returning to full fitness it is expected that the season is over for him before it has started. More worrying though is it could to be the end of his Liverpool career and plans are now being made to replace him both short and long term.

I hope this is not the case but having had experience with these types of injury I fear the light has gone out on Stevies playing days and any wishes of him lifting the Prem trophy.

I sincerely wish him all the best and pray that one day he will return to bossing the middle of the park again.

Ed, a few questions for you?

1. Do you personally feel that Stevie's career is in limbo?
2. Will we sign another striker?
3. Is the Enrique transfer back on?
4. Are any players close to signing for us after the farse of the last two games?

thanks {Ed002's Note - (1) No idea - there is no point in repeatedly asking the Eds about Gerrard's injury. (2) Probably. (3) No idea. (4) I imagine that the club have been putting their efforts in to moving players on and deciding who is to stay before looking at further purchases.}

31 Jul 2011 11:55:49
Inthe beginning of the transfer window our owners said that they will spend big money to impriove the club. We were all happy. As I explained before in my previous post they have spend around 45 mil which I agree is a lot of money. As someone replied in the past we had to sell some of our top players for fands. This left the club with average players that are not able to push for the top. Therefore if we need the club to go to the top we have to invest now for a return later. I agree we have bought some good players regardless if they are big names or not I think they will perform to their best. The problem thought is that those players we have signed are not enouph. We need to reinforse our defence which is very bad at the moment (the lsat to friendly games) and also we have to reinforse our right wing. This is the minimum. I know we need another spare striker but if we get a RW Kuyt can be used as a striker and as a midfielder. Kuyt is the workhorse of LFC

31 Jul 2011 11:49:20
Hi Ed...

I just wonder ...Kenny and co want to keep Stevie G out of the Qualifiers and be 100 % fresh and fit for Liverpool at his best and thats y the new infection problem?

Could be ??? {Ed002's Note - So Dalglish has somehow deliberately gotten Gerrard "infected" to keep him fit to play for Liverpool? An interesting thought. I am still awaiting a response from those discussing the metal plate he has had inserted in his groin yesterday. The rusty codpiece theorists.}

Hi Eds please post in rumours

Great site guys, I am addicted.
I've been taking in everyone's approaches on here and can understand why some people are happy with the signings we made/dissatisfied.
I said on here a month ago that before we can sign 2-3 more players that we would have to sell I got alot of stick about that, looks as though I was right. Despite signing proven EPL players I honestly think that the money could of been used better. Look at the names that have been linked with our club and rightly so. Aguero, lavezzi, Hazard, Mata. Yes all above come with big wages and a price tag. But they also have alot of quality. On our books last seasoned were paying big bucks already on players that ain't right for the club, Cole, Ngog, Rodriguez, Jovanovic and a few more. We now need to buy a player with outstanding quality because I honestly think that despite a good end of season we will still struggle to get a champions league spot. Both s**te clubs have invested heavily, Chelsea will sign a few players, arsenal if they can get Mata and keep either or both Fab and nasri are still to good to miss out while Spurs will be there and abouts. If we need to sell before we buy then the last 2 friendlies that we have put weakened sides out will tell anyone interested that they ain't good enoug. Come on Liverpool. In Kenny we trust

We will be Happy with the things if the summer is concluded in the following way.
Selling -Aquaman/Mereleis , Poulsen , Ngog out brining close to 15 millions.
And by signing Johnson or Park, Dann or Cahill and Enrique.
The owners will spend close to 60 millions.

Was on the BBC site, nothing to report but absolutely loved the highlights of Man Utd's U17s getting absolutely smashed by some kids from Qatar, the hotbed of footballing talent

It's pleasing that our youngsters under the tutelage of Borrell, Segura, McFarland and Mike Marsh are looking far more promising.

Looks like LFC will have to prepare for life after Carragher and Gerrard. The truth is that this has been part of our problem for the past two seasons. Its great to see that LFC are now signing the players to cope with their loss.
Gerrard and Carragher were as renowned as Xavi and Inestia in previous times.

LFC spend 55mil on suarez and carrol. Dont
forget that these funds came from the sales
of Torres and babel. In actual fact these two players didnt cost the owners at all. The only money they spent until now was thge money for Adam, Downing and Henderson, around 45mil. If we concider that other teams spent that amount on just one player. We need the players before the season starts, so I think is wise for the owners
to re concider and put the funds forward NOW so we can buy a LB, CB, RW and a striker. These funds may rise to another 40 to 45 mil which they will
get back from the sales of Aquilany, morelles, Ngog etc.We dont have time to wait to sell the players.
We need the new signings before the season starts

We are still the most successful club in Britain and now we have good owners, a good manager and Saurez the MVP at the cops America. Andy caroll - the best young English
striker by far and the best keeper in the prem. We have a top winger in downing, a superb young midfielder in Henderson and an amazing def mid in Lucas. Adam is fantastic and will be a revelation and Carra would die for the shirt. We have a plethora of quality young full backs. With so much talent coming through, and anbigger stadium on the way.. The future looks rosy for the reds

Who will play the SG role (CA?)

Don't get me wrong I like kelly I think he's mentality is right back cause against gala he was shaky always out of position couldn't track runs of baros and turan that game he pulled the strings floating about jus like stevie hope kenny saw that.

31 Jul 2011 08:50:39
hi all right before any of you bite my head off call me a united fan i wonna make some points

Steven Gerrard: i think its time for him to hang up his boots with the latest set back landing him in hospital theirs only so much a body can take and lets face it he's no spring chicken is he

Jamie Carra: he is 32 now maybe one last season before he starts doing a Ryan Giggs playing a bit part i think this is the main reason why kenny is looking at a center back for the long term but if you would ask me id rather replace him with kelly or wilson then go out and waste money on cahill

Dead wood: Chris Mavinga, Philipp Degen, Christian Poulsen, joe cole, David NGog, Milan Jovanovic, the reason we cant sell is the reason they are called dead wood unlike football manager none is willing to part with real money for these let alone pay their over inflated wages im sorry just cant see how between cole and jovanovic we are spending £160.000 a week thats mad the even funny thing is that both can hardly get in the res let alone the 17 man squad for a match day

and then kenny himself : the man is a legend no doubt but have we sold our self to he devil yeah he is a great manager and yeah be will forever be in our hearts BUT common £17-£20million on Henderson, the same with downing that's a bit extreme and made even more funny then you look at our youth system (this week pep guardiola compared our youth system to that of barca's own and said that we are the envy of Europe)

yes im looking forward to the season yes im a die hard liverpool fan and yes i even brought the new white and blue liverpool shirt just hope we can start useing our head and bringing thou our own talent

NOT A RUMOUR.............. but i'll trust the ED's to post it where fit.

STEVEN GERRARD......... DYNAMIC when he has been, no doubting his ability as a player. TOO MUCH pressure was placed on his shoulders at times. DEFINATELY dug LIVERPOOL FC out of some holes at times. UNDERATED in World and International football. A HERO to many. IF and its a massive IF....... this is the end of his career as a top flight midfielder, BACK HIM, SUPPORT HIM.
Like I said, a great responsibility was put on his head at a young age.... he stood up and was counted when others around him hid and faltered...........

31 Jul 2011 02:21:36
Hi Ed's and Reds

This is from BleacherReport.com..dont know how reliable it is but would like to hear your thoughts...........

Under Kenny Dalglish reign last season, Liverpool played primarily with Dirk Kuyt and Maxi Rodriguez on the flanks. Neither of them are natural wingers.

Entering this summer's transfer window, Dalglish made it absolutely clear that signing at least a pair of wingers was imperative. He signed Stewart Downing to take the left side. Now he's out to find a right winger.

Recent reports say the club are ready to take a hard run at signing Manchester City winger Adam Johnson. Johnson, once considered to be one of the brightest talents in English football, has found it tough to hold down a spot at the Etihad Stadium as City have continued to splash the cash on top-tier wingers such as David Silva.

The 24-year-old joined the sky-blues in the 2010 January transfer for a fee believed to be around 18 million pounds. In a season and a half, Johnson made 47 league appearances of which more than half consisted of coming off the bench, scoring five goals.

He should be available for about 20 million.

The move would add some much-needed speed to the Liverpool flanks, and would also allow Dirk Kuyt to move back into his more natural center forward position. Hence, if Liverpool manage to complete the transfer it will likely signal the end of the team's interest in forwards Shane Long and Hugo Rodallega.

I don't think the defence will be that bad come start of season.We will also have to accept the fact that we will concede more goals this season because we are a lot more attacking now which is a good thing and we will finish teams off now i hope so when we go 1 up. champs league this season which will get the confidence up more and maybe an assault on the title next season or maybe even the season after.I think most of the pressure next season will be on city and chelsea more than any other team which can only be good for us in my opinion.
