Hey Eds, great work you guys do here. I was wondering if Liverpool manage to win the league, do you see it having a big effect on summer spending? I would hate for us to feel obligated to "splash the cash" when the opposite has got us success. Thanks again

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I don't see it would make a difference.}

Ed is there a cash prize for finishing first and how much is it?
Thanks

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Between prize money and the TV money it will be something like £95M for first place sliding down to around £60M for last place.}

I don't think it would make us splash the cash. But we would probably find it slightly easier to attract targets being champions than being 7th so to speak.

Saying that it is in our hands means nothing. We have had it in our hands for a long time. Think back to th start of the season. There are 38 games, and if we win them all, we are champions. This situation is nothing different. Fewer games, but with the same accumulative pressure. let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No we could lose on goal difference
Now we can't lose on goal difference if we win all our games

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry lads but both really silly comments. Piledriver - 38 games to go at the start is like the same pressure as from where we are now, nope not a chance. Redwine, nope goal difference couldn't come into it in this silly 38 games to go it's in our hands win them all nonsense.

Agree0 Disagree0

You're right, its easier said than done win all your next seven games. I would love the reds to do that but I don't want to put that sort of pressure on them.

Im very scared for the spurs game today. let's hope we can beat them and go top and then see what happens from there.

Agree0 Disagree0

Piledriver, take no notice of them mate. It's in our hands now. No ifs buts maybes. Win the remaining 7 games and we are champions.

Agree0 Disagree0

Boys. All we can do is win the next game.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ozone
Easier said than done don't you think? Win the last 7 games and the 7 we have already won? A big ask I think. There will be more twists and turns before the end. Personally I think we are getting a bit ahead of ourselves. I hate to see all this title talk. You could feel the tension at Anfield in the last 10 minutes against Sunderland.

boys i'm going to get in on sturridges pre match ritual tomorrow and any of you lads that can do the same, i'm going to watch all our best bits of the season and get the blood pumping.lads no matter what the result is tomorrow we owe the team not to be on here giving out they have done us proud all year and if any1 involved with the club is reading this simply bravo I feel a stability around the club I've never felt before and its brilliant ynwa peace

29 Mar 2014 21:16:46
Wow guys, great results for us today! I so haven't wanted to get swept up into this we can win the league stuff, but if we win tomorrow it really will be ours to lose. If we win every game left we don't have to rely on other teams slipping up. I really want to be happy with top 4, I so do, and I will be, but I so badly want Stevie to be able to add the EPL title to his collection before he retires. Can we really do it? I'm not used to us being involved in this sort of business, I was only 5 last time we won the league, I didn't even like football back then! I still get nervous before every game we play, it's so hard to believe we have as good a chance as City and Chelsea! We can give them both a good run at Anfield. This really could happen!

Hope you're all as happy as me fellow reds!

Tomorrow I hope we go with the 4-3-3 formation with Sterling getting the nod ahead of Allen.

In the reverse fixture I remember Kyle Naughton couldn't handle the speed and skill of Sterling and had to be replaced. He will be having nightmares tonight worrying about him.

I would play Coutinho as he is hitting top form. He has had several assists recently and was MOTM against Sunderland.

I'm going for a 3-1 win tomorrow with Suarez, Sterling and Skrtel to score. Hopefully we will be back on top this time tomorrow night.

Red Rum

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That would be a very attacking side mate but I'd also like to see a 433 tomorrow. I like coutinho a lot but worry whether we'd have sufficient protection with him playing

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd keep it the same starting team as Weds. Start off solid and we have Sterling off the bench to rip them apart with speed as Spurs are tiring in the 2nd half. Allen was fantastic in the 1st half on Weds and I'd prefer to win the midfield battle to give us a good base to build our attacks

Agree0 Disagree0

Sterling should be started . He was dropping for no reason he can press just as well as Allen on the left of midfield in that diamond . Joe Allen should be only bought after 70 mins when were winning and he can keep possession! His counter attacking forward passes always get cut out sterling is much more of a threat and should have never been dropped in the last matches

Agree0 Disagree0

Just don't mention the P word Simon (pressure), lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Aye, but will be a lot happier if we're sitting top of the league when the final whistle's blown on the final game of the season. Fair play to your lot though, never minded Arsenal actually and the attitude says it all.

Agree0 Disagree0

You first hit the top of the table this season on Shanks 100th birthday, you now have in your hands to give the him the ultimate present, he will be very proud of his Liverpool this season

Not sure I'm looking forward to the £40m + £1 + 50p bid for Suarez this summer though ;o)

Game well and truly on!
In the past its games like tomorrow (and each and every game form now on in actually) that we have failed to capitalise on when teams above us have dropped points.
Lets hope this time is different and we can beat city and then match both City's and Chelsea's results from here on in. It maybe (only maybe) too much to ask to win all 7 but if we do the above we will be _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _.
Lets ramp up the atmosphere tomorrow redmen,
Come on you mighty reds!

Hey you guys.

Well isn't this a funny change of events.

Liverpool title contenders.

United slumming it all the way down there.

If you pull it off, never let any united fans hear the end of it.

I think we (arsenal) are out of it now. So for these last few games I'm officially backing you for the title, may as well support close my eyes and pretend suarez is banging them in for us eh?

Eds/Reds, out of intrigue, who's the best ref in the league in your opinion? I know Webb seems to be considered to be by the FA, but I really don't rate him that highly. Mike Dean/Mike Riley would be up there I think, maybe Phil Dowd. Opinions?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Mar 2014 20:11:56
Honestly can't remember the last time Phil Dowd came to my attention whilst reffing a game.

That probably means he's the best.

Agree0 Disagree0

For consistency? Howard Webb. ;)

Clattenburg for me I think but I get mixed up between them all

After today's results, the pressure is definitly on us now. I feel we'll still drop points against chelsea at home (draw) and either crystal palace or west game away (draw). I think chelsea will drop point against us (draw) and win all there other games. With city I reckon they'll drop point against us (loss) and against everton (draw). With arsenal, I don't see them dropping many point at all and only a draw against everton is a maybe. Not sure what that means to the table but we have a massive chance to win it this season. Now. if we won all our matches, we win this mofu**er

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It is now mathematically possible to win the league if we win every game left. I'm not saying it's going to be easy, far from it but it is now in our hands. Come on boys respond tomorrow and use the pressure in a positive manner.
Without being greedy couldn't of asked for better results today.

With a bit of luck maybe Mourinho will wind his neck in for a few days now.

His insincerity and lack of class are such a bore. Pellegrini and Rodgers are like a breath of fresh air, both in attitude and footballing styles, I hope that if we can't do it then City do.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Mar 2014 18:57:02
Agreed, How good is city playing now, Football is all about goals, excitement and chances.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree, acts like a child when he doesn't get his way, such a sore loser when he does. Hope his chelsea days are trophy baron.

You lot on the other hand, respectful manager, great football, well done this season, top top club.

If I can have it anyway, apart from arsenal winning the prem, it's for you to win it.

30 March 1964, Liverpool beat Spurs 3-1 to go top of the league and won it. Tomorrow is 30 March and Liverpool play Spurs to go top. Omens?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I just thought of the coincidences after the champions league quarter final in 2005. It's still too close to call though. One thing's for sure, I'm beginning to brick it a wee tad.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

City will destroy Arsenal more than ever now.

Agree0 Disagree0

It was obvious that City would not win to honest and I made a nice £70 profit on that game. Both teams to score and under 2.5 goals
I also have a 6 game accumulator tomorrow with us, Roma, Lazio, Hibs, Peterborough & the Bitters to win which is around 40-1

Palace, My second fav team loved it, What an awesome results,
Common Gunners, show some pride and beat City.

We win tomorrw and we go top of the table.

On Jan 31st when Torres handed the TR and moved to chelsea, I only had a dream (which I never thought would have come true)
Gerrard winning the trophy beofre Torres.

Common Reds.

Pending what happens later today, even a draw may put us top.

Loving this season, no matter how it ends.

Coop

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If we draw and we're top too.

Smiles all round

Agree0 Disagree0

Not if city win Haych. They got superior goal difference so we'd both be on 69 points and they with that edge (not to mention two games in hand. ).

I suspect City will beat Arsenal 4 - 0. Arsenal capitulating and City looking strong as ever.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2014 16:47:05
I wonder if people will be saying that Chelsea are crumbling from the pressure of competing for the title after their losses to villa and (most likely) palace?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Torres looks like he is really pushing for us to win for sure. He was useless for Chelsea today

Agree0 Disagree0

Ramish I agree if that were Liverpool "oh the pressure got to them". The fact that we won a game so tight at 2-1 they were already saying that.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2014 16:20:11
Ide just like to point out at this stage that Liverpool have been getting a lot of comments from various people about whether they have the bottle to win the title.

Rogers has maintained that we are in the hunt for a top 4 finish and explained nearly every week (most players also) that we will take the games 1 at a time and see where we finish.

Chelsea have lost to villa and are currently 1-0 down to palace. Arsenal are drawing and loosing their games and city still have 2 games to make up that we have already won.

Liverpool are on 7 straight wins at least 2 of which were against hard opposition.

I think we are coping fine.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Top post, slightly questionable name. ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Nosh the reality is that we have only drawn the two games we are ahead of city because we played two games more but are only two points ahead.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hah cheers el pistolero.

Arsenal drawing with city has just made this weekend perfect. Takes pressure off tomorrows result. We can't afford to drop points but at least if we do it won't be as bad as it could have been.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Mar 2014 13:17:37
Afternoon Eds. After you're opinion on whether Kieron Trippier would be an option for us next season. I know a lot of people will say why would we go for a championship player when we're hopefully going to be in the CL next season but I've watched him numerous times now and he's a quality player. Top assists at Burnley this season from right back which is no mean feat. Good pedigree starting his career at Man City and winning the FA Youth Cup as captain. 23 years of age so plenty of time to develop so fits in with our age policy. Played for England through various age groups and now in the under 21's. Named in the Championship team of the year last season and I've no doubt will be this season as well. Just seems to me that a lot of his stats match what we've been after transfer wise in previous windows, Young hungry level headed players.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - depends on if they are promoted or not. If they are not promoted, Burnley expect him to move on in the summer to the Prem.}

29 Mar 2014 12:31:14
I think if there's one game this season Liverpool needed to win . It would be against spurs
It has already happened but yet again spurs seems to be the only team who still think they are better than Liverpool
And the only team to kinda comment in a bitter way about the club or their position always before games

So I don't care how many wins they get . As long as they beat spurs because they disrespect the team with their comments

Believable0 Unbelievable0

In these difficult times for David Moyes I think we should show our support.

I think we should hire a plane for the next home utd game with a trailing banner asking for patience and extend his deal by a further 5 years.

I think by this stage he will have finished the job he has started.

Any other suggestions for the banner would be greatly appreciated.

Ahead of the 1st team tomorrow, the U18's take on Tottenham at Kirby. Kick off at 11am live on LFC.TV and online. A special debut for Dhanda, the 15 yr old is the first Indian to represent LFC.
The team in full is;
Wheeler, Randall, Brewitt, Cleary, Hart, Burke, Virtue, O'Hanlon, Dhanda, Kent and Ojo
Subs;
Waldron, George, Roberts, Griffin

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hi Simon, was wondering do u have much information on the u18s . Clearly is a local youngfella from Dublin was wondering does anyone know how he is progressing?

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Irish,
had an emergency and missed the game, today sorry I took so long to get back. I'm actually from Navan so don't get to get to as many games now as I used to when I lived across the pond, so I only get to see most matches online. At the moment our U18 lads are very young. The progression to International level and U21 level has been phenomenal and so our U18 lads have been chopped and changed very often.
What I do like though is the organisation at all levels within the club. The 15/16 yr olds in particular don't look out of place at this level which is fantastic and looks very positive for the future. Young Cleary is very highly thought of as is O'Hanlon. Ryan Kent is imho going to be a star if he maintains his current improvement levels.

Hoping for a draw in the arsenal city game later, if we do drop points against spurs, arsenal aren't miles behind and we can get dragged into the race for 3rd! Obviously in a perfect world, arsenal win and we win all our games and lift that trophy ;)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Im going for Utd, Chelsea and Citeh all not to win! Optimistic? Would be great if we could get our noses in front before Citeh and Chelsea come to Anfield.

I could get mauled for this but like to hear your reactions and possibly the Edds? Would anyone else like to see Everton get in the champions league along with us? To be honest I'd love to see them in it, imagine meeting them in the latter stages.
We are Liverpool.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I personally would love it. Liverpool having two top teams is something to be proud of IMO. Also under Martinez they've turned in to a decent footballing side, so fair play to them.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd rather see them have to travel to outer east Europe, somewhere bleak and cold, . very very cold. So the Europa Cup would be very nice for them and that would keep their fans happy and they'd have a good chance at going far in the competition, like Kazakhstan (Shakhter Karagandy), or Siberia (FC Sibir Novosibirsk). That would be nice for the Evertonian fans I think. :)

The Europa League, is it a punishment or a reward!?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it'd be great I no they don't want us to get it but I'd like us both in ye.

Agree0 Disagree0

You might get to travel to Europe, could both make it to the final :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Extra Bacon
It is for that reason that I want Everton no where near Champions League football. Giving Everton the extra revenue would make them a force to be reckoned with. Its hard enough to get top 4 with Chelsea, Arsenal, Citeh and Spurs. Add to that Utd who who would think can only improve. i'm hoping Everton get worse and not better.

Agree0 Disagree0

First and foremost, I'm only really interested in LFC. The others can do what they like, so I want LFC to win their remaining games.

I want Manchester United to have a decent finish to the season. I can't really see it happening against Bayern though. So I'd like them to finish 6th and qualify for the Europa. It will disrupt next season and it will make them keep faith with football genius Davey Moyes.

Whoever gets 4th deserves CL so, again, I'm not really fussed, but I have a lot of respect for Arsenal and they don't have this weird bitterness towards LFC.

Agree0 Disagree0

A strong Everton has always meant a strong Liverpool. So I'd welcome it personally.
