Dear oh dear oh dear, came on here after today's result hoping for an outpouring of positivity and joy at Suarez' performance. There must be a load on non reds posting, I refuse to believe some of the nonsense posted has come form Liverpool fans. Heaven help us !
Well done Kenny, Suarez and lads, great performance !
Derry Red.

You're right Derry Red.
The support for Luis Suarez today was absolutely awesome.
And for Kenny as well.

At Norwich, I meant.

Suarez;s hat-trick stole the limelight but there are two things that have gone largely unnoticed. Henderson had a really good game and laid off some tremendous passes. But most of all that is the best Reina has played for a long time. Admittedly he had no difficult saves to make but his ball distribution was the best it has been for months and he commanded the box and back four better than he has for ages as well. RED LENIN

Henderson had a mild game. shelvey had a great game and was more involved and showed that he is the leader between him and henderson. shelvey took initiative and basically said to henderson sit back and enjoy the ride.

Strange football speak - a "mild" game ?

Maybe Hendo sat back because he was the "sittting" midfielder. And Shelvey was given licence to get forward.

Get off Henderson's back. He's still a kid - why do people expect him to play like Gerrard ? He's further on in his football development that Jonjo and anyone disagrees knows nowt about footy.

I was just saying Henderson is supposed to be the more experienced one, an "attacking threat" as some say but to me Shelvey being the younger & less experienced of the two had the better game and the original poster didn't bring up his name. Shelvey not only attacked but when we defended he was right there alongside Henderson, i personally think Henderson will be great one day but he needs to grow a pair first.

Mild game = done his job nothing more nothing less

Just back from a very wet Norwich.
All I will say is, "Free The Norwich One !"
Lol.
Anybody who's been to the match will know what I mean.
The Real KB

Wasnt there but was that the guy who came on to congratulate Luis after his third?

It was mate, yeh.
But it was his performance to the Norwich fans after that, which raised the biggest roar.
The Real KB

Did he moon them or something? He seemed pretty calm when he shook Luis' hand!
Jason

And in fairness suarez lookesd to take it in well also i wudnt condone pitch invasion but it was one of the nicer ones lol

Ed I think Henderson would make a great partner with Lucas in midfield. Lucas breaking up play and hendo spraying passes. Could he be our new Xabi. He ain't too bad with an aul pass. I have to say I never rated Shelvey when he signed for us and up until a couple of months ago but the lad has impressed me a lot lately and I really hope he proves me wrong. I think with a couple of good quality buys over the summer, a good finisher a couple of wingers and a few squad players and we will be looking good next season. What ye reckon ed?

Froggie

Shelvey and lucas more like

Hendo > Shelvey

He is more technically developed than Sheley by a mile. And he also beat players like Suarez and Ox-Chamberlain in Keepy up competitions :P

Hi Eds, is there any way you can stop the 'keyboard cowards' from hijacking the banter pages? Something like having to register with you as a supporter of a particular club and having a nickname logged in, which would then be automatically flagged up on their posts. That way we could all tell if the poster was an infiltrator or a genuine Liverpool supporter, even if a misguided one.
Midsred {Ed002's Note - It is not easy. Obviously genuine banter from oth club's fans is fin and we cut abusive stuff. It is not helped by many of the Liverpool fans being abusive, fickle etc..}

They come on our pages cause there is hardly anyone on theirs which makes them lonely

Elmo96
LFC Forever {Ed002's Note - That answer was not flippant or sarcastic. Have you ever visited this page after Liverpool have lost or drawn a game? Perhaps the problem is closer to home.}

28 Apr 2012 22:40:35
hey ed's: whats about Dani Pacheco? :)
is he coming back to us?

I'd place him in our first squad, I'd add Stearling to.. but I don't know whats in kenny's head :( {Ed002's Note - I really don't think you will see him at Liverpool again.}

Pacheco and Suso seem to have a bit of a bromance going on... (visable via there twitters)

Any chance if a new manager was to come in he would be given another shot, or is he just not developed enough in the last 2 or so years?

Ska-oop {Ed002's Note - I really would not expect to see Pacheco back at Liverpool.}

Pacheco enjoyed late nights and must have forgot to set his watch to gmt because he was always late for trainings

I heard suso is gonna follow pacheco out of liverpool, they are really close friends

Players are allowed friends, are they not? I assume you follow your friends everywhere, to the shops, probs went to the same college as them as you always have to be a sheep?

I gather Barry joined one of his bets friends Stevie G at Liverpool and Reina followed Xabi?

I find these anti Suarez posts on here incredible. I can understand fans of other teams saying these things, mainly because they are jealous, and would love to have him themselves! He scores a hat trick tonight (hopefully the first of many for LFC!) and all I'm reading is cr*p about selling him - from our own fans!! Incredible. Yes, he should have shaken Vera's hand, but only because he said he would. Personally, I am glad he didn't, but he should of done. It's only a bloody handshake! Are you all so perfect, or is the air that you are breathing up there on your high horses so thin that it makes you not think straight? It is irrefutable that Suarez is NOT racist - fact. Things weren't handled well in the media and by the club - not really Suarez' fault IMO. The guy is a diamond. A stadium full of Norwich fans are going home tonight happy that they saw his hat trick tonight! Get behind him. He could be a future club legend, and shouldn't be sold. Players like him are what I spend my mo ET to go and see play, and I'm absolutely delighted he plays for us. I will argue all day long with anyone who thinks we should sell him. Simple as that - the lads a keeper. Nick.

Top post fella.
Red first & last

Well said Nick, it has to be non reds posting, every real supporter is surely overjoyed with Suarez today.
Derry Red.

He's not a keeper, he's a forward.
ANFIELDPETE

Im a Liverpool Supporter and i stand by the claims ive made about Suarez. Hes a Fantastic Football Player no doubt and was fantastic agaisnt Norwich but the reason were tempted to sell him is for 'off field behaviour' he damaged the rep and nearly cost us in sponsorship deals were not the type of club who keeps these types of players regardless of performances

I think all reds are overjoyed by his hat trick however it still doesnt cover up the past problems hes caused, he has moments of magic, 16 goals in all competitions, not prolific but decent, however i think as soon as the sponsership talked about pulling out when the rascism thing came about, then the fulham fans, then the handshake refusal, i think his fate has already been decided, like balotelli, for all the good they can bring the bad points far outweigh them

My only thoughts on Suarez is, dont play him as a loan striker,with Stevie G tucked in behind. It didnt work with Torres and it wont work with Suarez LOL..... bring on the rent boys

Suarez is a dumb ass

Better off playing for some obscure french outfit

28 Apr 2012 22:43:15
Say this almost ever week but....think today should shut up any doubters of suarez :D

Hes a striker with only 16 goals in all competitions, played over 40 games in all competitions, just has moments of sheer brilliance can still see him leaving for italy or spain

He has scored 17 goals in only 36 games. That's nearly 1 in 2. Get your facts right before you trash him.

ed's do ye ken why fans are so harsh on weselves the day {Ed002's Note - Yo.}

What the hell does that mean ^ {Ed002's Note - I am assuming it was written by some hipster or beatnik. Try and keep up with the times.}

Ya down wi v kidz Ed!!

Whaaaaaa!!

It's Jock lingo. He's adsking if you know why the fans are so hard on the team.

Read Trainspotting by Irvine Welsh and all will become clear, ken?

It's Scottish I think?!

Having lived in Scotland for 5 years, I can tell you, dont be frightened, he is one of our Scottish cousins. I shall translate :

Ye = you
Ken = know
Weselves = ourselves
The day = today.

Hope this helps! Nick.

Being born and raised in Scotland, I can only tell you that no one I know has ever said "weselves". The rest are Scottish words, "weselves" is the work of an idiot.

We need to keep a player like Suarez because he's a player that falls in to the bracket labelled as 'World Class' - and we ain't got many of them at the moment, so until we get some more players at this caliber I think we should hope he stays.

There is always that one rebellious disagree isn't there.

Id disagree because hes not world class, hes a non prolific striker, only 16 in all competitions over games in all too, hes very good just not world class, world class is messi, ronaldo, ozil, silva, van persie, id say suarez is more just very good like lavezzi

28 Apr 2012 21:58:49
FFS can we lay off carrol please. He is our player remember, all this crap about 4am pizz up sessions and prossy crap, I cant believe you are Liverpool supporters. If you can't support our squad go bugger off somewhere else, I'm sick of you guys who can only criticise, what kind of fans are you.? when he scores the winner in a mactch, you' ll be first ones licking his XXXX, and when he misses like all other strikers do, you'll be slagging him off. Is it any wonder when he gets abuse by his own. Grow up grow a pair and use your energy to get behind the players, slag off Rooney, drogba, rvp, tevez if you have the time, or better still get lost, we don't you need your sort supporting our club. GRRRRRR!!

Red first & Last.

And do RVP,Tevez,Rooney and Drogba Score 9 or 10 goals in 30 odd appearances? I don't think so!

So it's ok for AC (if he did) to go out and get pi**ed up until 4am before a game the same day?
clever

Saurez is insane any doubters can stuff their heads down somewhere the sun does not shine... Come on Liverpool fans! Stay DENCH
PoshRed

Another know all who can't sign his post.
Rvp - arsenal play to his strengths
Rooney - yes he is good, yet u seem to want to back ax bluenose and current manc.
Tevez- u sure u want to get into bed with him
Drogba - I didn't know you liked swan lake.
Do you even understand the mechanics of a football team, carrol is not the root of all our ills.
Red first & last

If he was out in Liverpool last night (which I don't believe) then he was obviously not under consideration for the Norwich match, since the squad travelled yesterday and stayed the night in Norwich. So if he had a day off, why not go out for a few drinks? Just to be clear thoug, Im convinced it's a rumour and completely untrue.

Kieran.

28 Apr 2012 21:56:56
I think we have to realise Suarez is best as the focal point of our attack rather than in behind a striker, the lad oozes class and the nearest u can get him on the ball closer to goal the better. Now this leads me on to thinking for next season either we push gerrard behind him meaning another centre mid is needed until hendo settles down as I do think hendo will make a good centre mid soon or another supporting striker is required if we r to play gerrard deeper in fantasy land for me it would be Martinez for the central Position or someone like erikkson as support striker but that's the way I think we should go anyway oh and wide men are defo needed

Kopman

Agree either martinez or sissoko or aquilani back! may happen never know

Aqualaini back ? id rather have hendo and shelvy given a chance

hi eds reading through the posts , as usual, whats all this about andy carroll? was it in liverpool he was seen out? dont we travel day before a game now? doent make sense, eds what do you mean by a "watusi" injury? steviep48 {Ed002's Note - It is a well known dancing related injury.}

Ed002, you must absolutely piss yourself with the amount of people you reel in every day!
"what do you mean by a Watusi injury?"
Dear oh dear

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - It keeps me sane. I have a preference for the Batusi Chris.}

Thanks for the answer ed , buy , what about us travelling day before the game? if thats the case , and andy carroll was out in liverpool , then he , and the club , knew he wasnt involved today. r , did we travel today , if so , then its wrong. steviep48 {Ed002's Note - I have no idea and really don't care.}

Ed 02 so you dont get reverse taking the p--- then? and chris in tamworth , have i ever taken the p--- out of you or anyone else on hear ? no, so save it and lay off ac hes our player and should be supported a. as for being out on the lash our illustrious captain has been guilty over and over again . steviep48

The hitchhike for me Ed or maybe the chicken

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - I would have expected the frug Chris.}

So Suarez scores a meaningless hat-trick at the end of the season against Norwich and all is forgiven? Have you all forgot the shame and embarrasment he has brought on our club for making racial comments to an opposing player? 8 game ban. Making a gesture to rival fans, 1 game ban. Refuses to shake evra's hand and we nearly lost our 125m sponsorship deal, He is a disgrace of a man, Sure im still baffles as to why we signed a player who actually bit another player during play while he was still at Ajax.

Cant wait til Suarez is sold in the summer

Davey

No, i forgave him a long time ago not just because of his hattrick.

Why, after the recent bad run of results can you not just enjoy it, do you think people want to here your moaning? Man up!

MR EM

Get over it you absolute t**t!!!

Everyone makes mistakes...his paid for his and moved on.

You should do the same.

Out of interest, who do *you* support Davey?

Matt S - YNWA

If you dont forgive someone , when they have served their ban/time , and we could go through lots and lots of players who have done worst , but you wont act the same way towards them , life is too short to be bitter mate , whoever you support................lfc

What a numbscull you really are!
move on!

Davey I really would not want you by my side in a difficult situation.Not much of a scouser are you?We watch each others backs and look after each other.

Davey we are liverpool not manchester's, we are worried about players not money, so take a long breathe and throw all ur negativity out. redh0t

I agree Davey but dont tell anyone lol

Sorry but the lad is yes an unbelievable player at times but he also a footballing disgrace, no other player has the stuff he has on his c.v, banned for biting, banned for a near career ending challenge, cheating in the world cup, rascism, swearing at opposition fans, refusal to shake the hands of the player he abused, hes like the new di canio, brilliant but a liability

Why dont all the anti suarez mob have the guts to admit that they are either mancs or blue noses. NO TRUE LFC SUPPORTER WOULS SAY THESE THINGS ABOUT SUAREZ....so crawl back into you hole moran

Tel 1949

28 Apr 2012 21:42:27
this suarez, will he? or wont he? be sold issue is a total joke to me and has reared its ugly head up again on a day when the lad scores an outstanding hat-trick....Watching suarez walking the line after picking up his carling cup medal answered the question for me......or maybe I was seeing something else??

77to2005

The joke is that you think that anything that is unrelated to scoring goals is a joke. LFC have many responsibilities other than scoring goals agains Norwich.

The Suarez-Evra fiasco this season is not funny all. There have been/will be consequences.

Evra is thinking 1-0

Macca, is there any truth at all to the rumors about Honda? Please say yes!

Honda is in barcelona at the moment recovering from a 6 month injury lay off where the rest of the cska squad will join him for preparation, hes had the injury reoccuring for over 3 years now, hes literally been out half a season played half a season for 3 years, lazio pulled out just before his injury due to concerns over his knees, if they dont think he could handle italy how is he gonna handle ryan shawcross going through him on a rainy day away at stoke? hed generate revenue thats it, worth a risk at 15 million, i very much doubt john henry would allow this one

{Ed002's Note - Sorry but Honda is in Moscow having played in the CSKA match yesterday.}

Id check the team sheet see if he played against spartak last night ed ;) i think you will find he never as he is injured {Ed002's Note - Why don't you sign your posts which seem to be nothing more than a constant attempt to put me down? Perhaps someone could check out something like tinyurl.com/c48z6ca to see if he is listed or not?}

Ed is correct moran. Honda played yesterday and got himself booked.

You are making the us fans look really stupid by posting rubbish like this. Honda DID play in Moscow yesterday. Edd I hope this is not a reds fan who wrote this carp. Taunton Red

Luis Suarez.....WOW, thats all. Roblfc86

Doesnt forgive the fact that he brought shame on our club by making racial comments to another player, Still want him out of our club, I lost all respect for him after the evra incident

Have the kahoonas to tell us who are at least? it might go some way to understanding why.
Red First & last.

If you don't respect him then feel free to get lost and go and support somebody else because he is a Liverpool player and we had a great result today and we don't need moaning from women like you, we have our wives for that, just for once we had a victory in a difficult league campain can we not be allowed to enjoy it without people like you whining!!

MR EM

To the no name imbecile who was the first responder to the post. Get an education, and stop eating up all that media hocus pocus about the whole saga before you go writing rubbish like that. The lad has NOTHING to be ashamed about, and doesn't deserve no name no marks like you slating him. I'd like to be more forceful about my point, but eds wouldn't post it if I did. Nick.

Can we not be happy for one day?! The lad scores an outstanding hat trick, and this site is full of "suarez out" demands. He seems like he is trying to make things right, people make mistakes but its important to learn a lesson, im sure he has and is trying to make up for his mistakes. I think selling him would be a huge mistake. Roblfc86

Ohh dear you guys are seriously f....d up ! support our club as one the issue has passed!
if you feel that bad about suarez then you must have been gutted when he scored against everton!
you are a 2 faced fan. any money if he scores the winner sat youll be cheering and probably crying!
do one suarez haters.

(remember van persie women claims years ago now look how he has grown and matured. bet you would like van persie in our team now!>?)

Really fed up with all these nameless cowards hiding behind anonymity,you are all spineless and probably on the wrong page,because I doubt you are Liverpool fans.

Hi eds and fans, it was a very good performance today with few mistakes and at last we were more clinical, Suarez was amazing and his goal is the goal of the season! Just wish it was this performance every game, today it felt like liverpool of old, I hadn't felt like this watching the team in a long time. Stevie g was like his old self as well. I was happy, which was not very frequent this year, what about the rest of you and ed? I genuinely think Suarez should remain at all costs, not because of these goals today but he torments defences, and we should add two more players of his ilk and stevie's ilk and the team would be firing on all cylinders ed what is your take?
hibsylfc

Crouch has goal of the season wrapped up

Pretty good performance, yeah! But would have loved if we scored goals from plays created by our own players and not goals created from there defencive errors...good defence from agger today, shelvey looked a bit out of sorts, and downing on the right wing does'nt work, he's terrible...haha but all in all a good result, hoping for better against fulham

Idiot suarez scoring was not a defencive error. gerrard tackled the guy! it was a tackle not a back pass interception.

second goal - was 50-50 ball suarez won and went on to score showing he can score bullets not just tap ins or placement

third goal - ball landed a suarez's feet he turned took one touch and shot

where is the defensive error?? can't be from the first goal because gerrard tackled him and it was a midfielder who lost it also not in the box.

and if you think that was a defensive error then think if i tackle you half way from your box and the half way line, you are the midfielder and behind you are two cb's and i get the ball, is that a defensive error? or did you just get tackled?

And how many off the above mentioned goals were created by our own players? And not because there defenders did'nt do what they where supposed to do? Wake up!! You can argue or disagree but thats facts...i'm not saying we did'nt deserve to win, i'm just stating a fact thats a bit worrying for me

28 Apr 2012 21:20:39
I think most of us are being reasonable with expectations in the summer transfer window. However, Tom Werner in his interview regarding the Comolli departure specifically said that the group can financially compete with any of the teams and that his goal is to make us the best team. If that is so, I would expect a heavy investment in a player that is young, talented and one who is unlikely to disappoint. There are many available, including Hazard, Kagawa, Eriksen, Neymar, and others. I really expect we will sign one big name young player for 30 - 40 million, and then some solid additions to strengthen the squad (For me, Hoilett would be an excellent cheap addition, as would Victor Moses). Would also like to see a poacher. Everyone on here seems to think De Jong is heading our way, which would be ok, though I am not convinced about him. Why not splash 35 million and get Falcao? That boy can score goals and Atletico Madrid have a weakness for big cash offers.....

To summarize (realizing this is wishful thinking)

Falcao 35 million
Eriksen or Kagawa 25 million
Hoilet 7 - 8 million

Sell Kuyt 5ish million
Aquilani (will anyone take this guy??)
Cole, Maxi.

Most here thinking we are selling Carroll and I think we would if we could recoup 25 million, but that is unlikely.

My starting 11 would then be

Reina
Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique
Eriksen Lucas
Gerrard
Hoilett Falcao Suarez

Realizing that Gerrard is nearing the end of his career, Henderson would back him up on the bench. Downing, Carroll, Adam and Bellamy would join him. Shelvey not good enough I am afraid. Sterling should be there too.

If you don't think this team would gel, you should see how they fare on my Xbox Fifa 2012! Falcao and Suarez are lethal!!!

Coop {Ed022's Note - Lol. This post is ridiculous but I love it.}

I know we overpaid on players but 7 million for a player outta contract is a bit silly

Quality post, falcaos coming for less than what athletico paid after the season of his life oh yeah i agree mate haha hoiletts one expensive free, kagawa has a minimum fee clause of 22 million euros, eriksen is being quoted at 15, brilliant post though mate made me chuckle atleast

28 Apr 2012 21:10:35
I really don't know why we would want to have a striker because we've got suarez we need more luck on our side

We need a goal scorer to put away all the chances that have been created

Because all the top clubs have more than one good striker.

Utd - Rooney, Welbeck, Hernandez, Berbatov, Owen.

City - Aguero, Tevez, Dzeko, Balotelli (Adebayor out on loan)

Chelsea - Torres, Drogba, Kalou, Sturridge.

Whilst we have Suarez & Carroll with an ageing Bellamy who can't play every game. Another quality striker or two is a must this summer if we want to push for the top 4 next season and continue winning silverware.

Suarez, carroll, kuyt, bellamy

i find jokes how owen, berbatov, drogba(only played 30games so far) aren't described ageing who can't play every game?

28 Apr 2012 20:49:41
Finally a good result to match our performances Gerrard and Suarez were fantastic however i still feel we should sell Suarez for his 'off field behaviour' lets get 30 oddmillion for him and carry on

Great player but big money would do if we could by 2 forwards to compliment each other to replace him.
ALB

We bought him for 23 million. 7 million profit is just not enough. Especially when he has proved himself in English football to be one of the best players in the world. I'd say at least 40 million... but I still don't want to sell him.

BthekingB

Nah, i want Suarez to stay, and for us to scout out a very good and financially viable partner for Suarez (Luuk De Jong; being my first choice).

I also want Carroll to stay, he has had an extremely difficult time to date, but has shown in glimpses huge potential for his age, he needs time, fortunately time is on his side being only 23 years old (Same age as N'Gog, who featured 94 times for Liverpool, Carroll has featured about 43 times for Liverpool).

I don't see the point in selling him for £12 million to one of our rivals, only for him to be given the time he needs to go on to become a genuine striking threat.

Money can buy a lot, but it can't buy time. Patience is the key, painful but true. I think two players with quality in the attacking end could make a massive difference for us. I believe we are just lacking goals, most of the play i have seen has been very positive and today the woodwork hasn't haunted us, as it has for much of the season.

Ollieston

'off field behaviour''? It was on the feild wasn't it? And who cares when he can score like that, with most brilliant players comes a bit of trouble, i'm sure he's learned his lesson so get of his back and support him!

MR EM {Ed022's Note - Yeah as long as he learned his lesson it's fine. Would you mind coming to pitch that to our club sponsors also as I'm sure they'd fully agree with you, you'd eat cocktail sausages long into the night laughing into a glass of champagne. Woo.}

Did somebody say cocktail sausages ?!

''Would you mind coming to pitch that to our club sponsors also as I'm sure they'd fully agree with you, you'd eat cocktail sausages long into the night laughing into a glass of champagne. Woo''

Why would i speak to Liverpool sponsors, i'm a sculptor? And drink champagne and eating sausages? And woo? How old are you ed? sorry but you are extremly puerile and what happened was a serious issue that has been discussed at length so does not need to be gone into again especially after a good day, but making fun of the situation in a childish, peurile manner? Discraceful! The whole club has stated over and over again that we should move on so maybe you should man up and give it a go son!
MR EM
PS. Goodnight, i will not enter into a discusion with somone like yourself.

Ed22 - but we dont mind bieng sponsered by a beer when the mojority of violence is of alcohol relation! but we dont say no we just take there money.
this wont effect the sponsers just another "talking point"

Or having a banks name across our shirts. Banks are little better than vermin.

MR EM is a fool. Mate I want Suarez to stay but at the end of the day the sponsors is where we get our money. Suarez wont stay with us till the end of his career and id be suprised if he were still with us in 2 years time and thats even if he didnt do anything. So why lose all our sponsors who were trying to seek legal action to terminated their contract with us, for Suarez to stay for only a couple more seasons? We would find ourselves so financially hard up that it could very easily be another Leeds we witness. Anyway thats my 2 cents worth on the matter.
KiwiRed

Im stuta1 the above poster and ERM totally missed the point kiwired

Interesting Discussion, Mr.EM we all knew what i meant when i said 'off field behaviour' surprised with how many fans disagree but at the end of the day its down to the owners Nice to Have the backing of an ED for a change though!

after the epic show from luis suarez today and if our club decides to sell him at the end of the season then honestly some people out here only knows how to do business. cheers

redh0t

Suarez did tremendous reputational damage to LFC with his antics earlier in the season. A meaningless goal against Norwich at the end of the season will not undo that.

I expect him to be sold next month.

I've noticed it's mainly no namers that want Surez sold, they are probably mancs , bitters or spuds. They realise he is world class. He's made a mistake and paid for it. Even the media has quietened down on the issue, it's a pity some of you so called supporters couln't do the same.Fsg and the sponsers want a winning team not whinning supporters...Bobbinred

Wish we could sell useless supporters like you,sell is the wrong word because you would defo go on a free.

Try using get rid Derek mate :)

To be fair to the 2nd comment, i dont see him bein sold next month, cause the transfer market doesnt open until 1st June, but even then, im not convinced he will be sold, i can understand why it would be considered to sell him, but what sort of statement does it send out when you sell your best player? im sort of on the wire, i'd love him to stay but would understand him bein sold

Carb

Sorry - I despise Suarez's antics, the way I despise Ashley Young's and Drogba's antics. And I don't think I am less of a supporter than you. Get off your high horse.

Where was Suarez earlier in the season when his goals would have meant something? So now he scores a hatrick in a meaningless game and he is the best thing since sliced bread? Give me a break.

He's our top scorer, where would we be without his goals ?...Bobbinred

Hi Eds

Great result today. Eds if we compare Lucas and Henderdons first seasons Lucas was the most pathetic player yet he proved us all that he became a fantastic player Henderson on the other hand not great but did ok in his first season give him time he will develope in a very good midfielder

Thanks Eds
Zorro {Ed022's Note - Henderson is a very good player, but just needs a little time.}

I just base henderson on what ive seen as most do, i barely see him in games.You have to wonder with all whiskey nose connections at sunderland at the time,why he didnt go for him and in the end brought back 36 yr old scholes,shelvey is a better bet than henderson, and furthermore when lucas comes back hendo dont play

5gold stars

Lucas' pathetic(ness) did not hurt us as he was last in line after
Alonso
Gerrard
Mascherano

personally i agree he will become better but instinct is instinct and he isn't a presser or attacker, he lounges and plays the simple ball. i'm sure you are think erm your describing lucas but no. lucas puts players under pressure, he passes short but alway forward, he also give passes that unlocks defenders and he'l get in the box.

shelvey for me is more confident than henderson even though he is younger, less experienced he attacks, he'll close people down where henderson will lay off them and he takes control of the game.

like against Norwich he took over and henderson was happy to sit back shelvey would never be happy to just sit back because he is confident and he wants to play his game. in two years if he is still at Liverpool Shelvey will take over as captain. its hard to believe that he only just turned 20 in February, where henderson will turn 22 in june.

Cup Final XI

Pepe
Johnson Carra Skrtel Agger

Kuyt Spearing Shelvey Bellamy
Gerrard
Suarez

subs Hendo, Enrique, Coates, Doni, Downing, Carroll, Maxi

Enrique looks to be in a comfort zone (nothing to do today but was sloppy).
Hendo, Downing, Carroll still need to achieve a consistent high level of performance (I don't think they fully understand the Liverpoool way yet whereas Jonjo has had more time to realise what's expected and he seems to be benefitting from that experience now).
Kuyt and Bellars never let you down and spearing has earned his place with a solid season deputising for Lucas.
Maxi, Downing and Carroll are all good options from the bench.......against Chelsea we need to close, press and Suarez, Kuyt, Bellars, Spearing all have the required philosophy of defending from the front and not allowing people to settle.
Feel free to disagree as I too thought Kenny was bonkers playing Agger left back in the semi but after seeing Enrique today I understand why.....he started great but now he gives the ball away in our final 3rd too often.

Big changes next season, I fear Suarez today may just have convinced some major Italian and Spanish clubs to make a bid and it sounds like the owners are far from happy with the bad publicity following some players.
I think Carroll has shown a blatant lack of respect to the club and KK and should leave, you have to want the shirt and he couldn't care less how he behaves - seems to think the 35 mil tag means he can do as he likes.
I like Hendo as a squad player for the future, I like Shelvey very much. Downing, well he looks like the second choice he was (Young though injury prone is a better player).
I think whilst we are all excited about the prospect of lifting 2 cups maybe what we are about to witness after next week is the dawn of a new era, new philosophy and some big names moving on.
I suspect the Gerrard, Carra era is about to end so big respect to be paid, every trophy except the prem....hats off to you lads you have been magnificent servants to Liverpool FC..................here come the winds of change.
ALB.

Kuyt never lets you down, are you mental?

I would rather have Maxi/Downing on the right and Shelvey and Gerrard swapping places.

Would be amiss of me not to salute Dirk Kuyt also ......top commitment from a lovely guy, thanks Dirk.
Pepe if you shoot through as well then all the best pal.
ALB

Downing has been fantastic at both trips to wembely this year so expect him to start!

My Cup Final XI

Pepe
Johnson Skrtel Agger ENRIQUE

Kuyt HENDERSON Shelvey MAXI
Gerrard
Suarez

subs SPEARING, KELLY, Coates, Doni, Downing, Carroll, BELLAMY

I think henderson and shelvey play best together although i think shelvey is better than both henderson and spearing. Maxi against Chelsea has to be done.

Hello my scouse friends I am back. Well done on your result today, what a performance against the might of Norwich City.
Surely now next year will be your year to win the league.(Sorry I know it's an old joke.)
I was so glad you kept faith with my good friend Queen Kenny as he directs you to a wonderful 8th place finish.
Please, please we want more!! You are now only 34 points behind my team so I must look over my shoulder, then again I can't see for miles behind me.
Good luck in the mickey, sorry i mean FA Cup final next week.
Enjoy your trip home from Norfolk Blair and Tel oh sorry again I forgot you never go and watch your team.

Sir Alex x {Ed022's Note - Just to add a quick point, the 'Mickey Mouse Cup' is the Carling Cup, not the FA Cup. If you're going to post 'banter', then please get it right? Thank you.}

Good stuff,
this was season you were to beat barca, 5 euro cups you said you would have only for unbeatable barca. did you watch chelsea other night. now you have bottled league, i am surprised as you are good domestic side. euro giants yah right- 30 years of fergi 2 euro cups, in same time porto have won 2 euro cups. maybe this man u team will dominate europe(sorry old joke)

sony

I live in Tibet, 'Sir' Alex mate. I'm just happy I've got a internet connection to watch the game. Have to milk 7-8 mountain goats a week to get it but its well worth it.

It wasn't the "mickey mouse cup" a few years ago. When it was all you won was it

COME BACK MONDAY NIGHT....oh no you can't can you as you'll be glued to your TV as your team is playing in Manchester and your Sat Navs on the blink.
You need to face North and follow a star until you find a chippy with a tubby bloke eating a sausage dinner wearing a number 10 shirt....follow him after he's thrown the wrapper away and wipped the gravy off his peach fuzzed chin and you might just find a football ground with the champions elect playing....they'll be the the ones in the sky blue laughing and pointing at you and the tubby bloke.

i know i'll probably get a few disagrees on this but in MY opinion shelvey will never be good enough for our first team,at best he's championship level,the problem with the lad is he thinks he's already made it coz he plays for liverpool yet in the old days he'd have spent 2 or 3 years in the reserves to see how he settled in,for me he offers nothing and i can't believe some people saying henderson done nothing and shelvey done well,just one question,what game were you watching
paul d

Total opposite,
Adam, Johnson, Downing, Carroll these are the players who think they've made it coz they play for LFC.
Jonjo has been with us a while and he understands what's expected, the others think they've won the lottery.
ALB

At best,you are clueless and insipid.
AnfieldUSA

After "shelvey will never be good enough"
I stopped reading...

He has spent a year in the reserves and is finally getting some game time when we have nothing to play for in the league. I really don't understand how you come to the conclusion that he is full of himself and thinks he has made it. Come on mate, grow up.

BthekingB

Shelvey is Gerrad's replacement. He will grow into the position over the next couple of years.

Shelvey has in a short time given henderson a lesson on how to play football.
yes football not (safeball)

henderson came out and said looking back he sees that he's played it safe but will start to play his natural game, when he said that i thought OK hes put up his hand and hopefully he'll show us what he can do.

few months later and i'm still waiting. i think he is still a bit timid. downing i think he will be alright next season as with carroll if he isn't sold. adam to me thinks hes home and dry after a season like that at blackpool to then came to liverpool and put in the worst corners and freekicks i've ever seen in my life, is not on. it really isn't.

enrique amazes me, he is the suarez of left back. how he gets out of tricky situations just wow. sometimes he tries to be too cleaver but thats him, thats how he plays and i accept that.

28 Apr 2012 20:20:26
If suarez is sold Anfield would be half empty Henry would not risk the fans turning against him. The fans love him and he is our best player it would be a huge step backwards if he was sold even for big money.

Liverpool makes more money from corporate sponsors than from ticket sales to fans. Decisions are made with sponsors in mind. That's how modern sports works. Suarez may have sealed his fate a while ago.

Get real.
No one .... not Kenny, not Suarez, Not Owen, Not Rush, Not Keegan....no one is bigger than LFC.
This is our foundation....I love Louis but there are 10 other players in our team, we need to strengthen all over including attack whether he stays or not.
ALB

No it wouldn't!!
The empty seats would be filled in a blink of an eye and the owners know that
By just looking at the waiting list for season tickets

Lyndon

Because half the fans go to support Suarez and not Liverpool mate?? Ridiculous statement.
KiwiRed

Selling suarez cause the sponsors arnt happy would be a disgrace,selling him cause wiskey nose told us to well lets pack up now close the shankly gates!you sell him we think we can get better,on that display today we have the most dangerouse forward in the league an with world class support would terrorise the league an europe!
deano mcc

The owners and sponsers will put the past behind them.
Surez is a winner, owners and sponsers can only thrive with winners, putting bums on seats are only a small part of the overall finances....Bobbinred

Suarez will not be forced out by sponsors. The last thing sponsors want is fans holding huge banners slagiing their company being shown on TV all over the world. {Ed002's Note - You need to make your threats clear to the sponsors. They love that stuff.}

Any of the Ed's! Could you please tell me if it is true that Standard Charted are seeking legal advice to terminate the sponsorship deal with LFC? Thank you for any information! {Ed002's Note - Standard Chartered did at one time seek a way out of the deal. Everything seems settled right now but a number of fans want to threaten the sponsors which no doubt will lead to further problems. Flags and email "bombardments" have been mentioned. Perhaps these were the same ones who spewed their hate over Adidas last week, ignoring how much money that Adidas have put in to the club.}

You do realize that no football team can make it without fans right? the reason why teams get sponsors is due to fan base.

Lol ALB you make no sense. you've thrown a spanner in wheel. my wheel has stopped spinning! take it out..!!

how you going to say

not dalglish not suarez not no one is bigger than liverpool (granted good point)

we will strengthen the team with or without suarez (again good point)

yes those are good points, i'm not trying to discredit the validity of the two points, but that's what they are TWO separate facts that holds no correlation or meaning when put in a sentence.

it's like your a running for president stating facts. yeah its good facts but your point is?
has suarez said that he is bigger than liverpool? has he played like he thinks he is bigger than liverpool? (well he has because he is world class) but i mean does he play for himself, is he selfish on the ball, i mean the guy came out and said i'd cheat for liverpool. if that doesn't say i'm a team player or i'll go down if i meant that liverpool would have a "chance" to win a cup than i don't know what does. just because people says they are willing to overlook his past "indiscretions" does that somehow know make him bigger than the team. or does it show that they are just willing to move forward.

Bad publicity to better than no publicity. {Ed002's Note - No.}

".....You do realize that no football team can make it without fans right? the reason why teams get sponsors is due to fan base....."

Wigan are doing alright :)

After you've held your banner up slagging the Sponsors what Company in their right mind would sponsor us after that!!

I guess this weeks copy of Socialist weekly is due sometime soon!!

Hey guys, hope everyone is made up with that result!

Just to drop in and pay tribute to such a great performance, but as Kenny says we've done that many times this Season already but been unlucky/not clinical enough. Also, I'd like to say well done to the entire squad. Suárez obviously being the outstanding performer, but it really was a great TEAM effort and there's not a bad word I can say about any of them; not one.

Again, hope everyone is buzzing after that and you're all having a great day or night tonight due to it!

Thanks, Ell.

We will get good money for Suarez, and move on. Just as we did with Torres.

This is my opinion and my opinion alone on Transfers, so you can either 'believe or disbelieve'.

Liverpool cannot sell Suarez, after today's performance he and Gerrard are starting to form some kind of partnership and if this lifts off, then there is bags of ability there. So for me, Suarez is a keeper.

What Liverpool need is a right winger desperately, we can not always expect Henderson or Bellamy (or even Downing) playing there, so I would suggest we look at the likes of Gaston Ramirez, Muniain and or Susaeta (yes these are all players we are linked with, but being linked with them is not enough, and if the players want to come, we must sign atleast one of them)

We also need another prolific goalscorer, Soldado to me isn't quite what we need, we need a number 10, it was unfortunate that last January we couldn't sign Mario Gomez, and that probably would have been the ideal candidate. Now I feel that we must take a risk (again) with a player, no 'big' players will want to sign for us without Champions League football. I would suggest we look at the likes of Clint Dempsey, he's a proven goalscorer in the Premier League, however some of you may feel that he isn't quite what we need, so suggestions would be appreciated.

Regardless of who our manager is next season, we have to make big changes at this club.

Suggestions on who you feel should fill our gaps below please.

NY23

For me Suarez is a striker though i'd be more than satisfied to have him as our second on-field "keeper" :P
sama491

Soldado has really cooled off lately. I've watched him play about 10 games and must say, he never dazzles, though he does pop in many goals. I think he is past his best however, and we would be better served going in for a younger lad. If I had my choice, I would go after Kagawa or Eriksen for midfield creativity, probably Hoillet on right wing and then a poacher who is younger than Soldado. Neymar perhaps? {Ed002's Note - Neymar would be ideal.}

Ed002 Neymar would be ideal for who? Us "LFC" or your side Chelsea! As according to you LFC won't sign any big name player's! {Ed002's Note - How does Chelsea come in to this? When have I ever said Liverpool won't sign "big" players? What is a "big" player?}

Great win today magical performance from Suarez!
Can't wait till he settles in!!
Noticed quite a few numpties having a go after 15 minutes of the game. Just can't wait to be critical.
Have also noticed how the same critics go missing if we get a good result. Fook em!! There not real supporters in my book anyway.

Suarez wow that has to be goal of the season i even dropped my beer after that went in, we have to keep this guy and build a team around him.

Red raj

Loved it, absolutely great goal but I'm afraid Crouch has already scored goal of the season

Chris in Tamworth

Although Crouch's goal was awesome, like Torres in 2009, he will win due to being English just like how Kyle Walker won young player of the season over Aguero. That still baffles me

28 Apr 2012 19:32:17
Eds...I've always question your opinion that Suarez might be sold. I still maintain it would be madness to sell Suarez. He's world class. How many world class playeres have we had in the past couple of season? FSG have got to build a side with Suarez playing a key role. And I still think KK will be the one to guide us next season. Three quality signings...right wing; attacking/creative midfield and a striker. That's what we need. What do you think Eds? BTW really professional replies on your part. Makes this site unbeatable. {Ed005's Note - The reasons for Suarez potentially being sold have been well documented. For a start, Standard Chartered were seriously considering a legal way of cancelling the sponsorship with us after the racism fiasco - now that is a massive sponsorship for LFC as you know. A £125m deal. Also we are trying to build a global profile and that doesn't help, especially as the reaction in the US, particularly Boston has been hugely negative. There are many a financial reason and many a moral and long-term reason to sell him. However personally I can't see that happen although other eds seem to think it is possible.}

There's absolutely no evidence to suggest that the Sponsors were seeking a legal loophole to end their sponsorship deal with Liverpool.
kidmillions {Ed002's Note - Actually the sponsors were indeed looking to get out of their deal as a result of Suarez's actions.}

Hi Eds, hopefully Suarez stays, at least for another season. Problem we have now is Barcelona. They will have a new manager in place,who will want his own players,so I can seriously see LS bid being made. If so then FSG should hold out for minimum £60m. For a young talent he is well worth it. But again hopefully he won't be sold.

In a radio discussion this week about Barcelona, it was suggested that any of Barce's summer transfers would of already been decided and that this would be typical of most of the top teams in Europe.

So if Luis is on the move, the die may have been already cast :(

".....especially as the reaction in the US, particularly Boston....." mm perhaps New York ?

type in Boston and racism on google and see how many results you get

Suarez is not world class, hes like lavezzi, sanchez, them sort of players he has moments of just sheer unbelievable brilliance or hes very average, you cant forget hes a striker and 16 in all competitions for someone who has played 40 games roughly in all is poor, liverpool need someone like van persie, gomez, jelavic, lewondowski, obv not them exact players but ones who have a goals to game ration of basically 1 in 1, jelavic has scored 39 of his last 42 with his first touch, lewondowski has hit his last 13 with his 1st touch, strikers who have a instinct for goalscoring, suarez doesnt have it, just great movement

You eds chat so much nonsense.

Suarez aint going anywhere and Standard Chartered were not trying to get out of the deal.

Yes of course they were nervous how the situation would affect their profile but to say they wanted out is very far-fetched.

Some of the things you guys come out with are very odd...whoever feeds you your info needs to be shot.

You said suarez werent coming in the first place so I dont know why anyone listens to anything u say anyway.

If you want people to take you seriously why dont you explain why you feel standard chartered tried to get out the deal? You can just say something and not have anything to back it up, thats just stupid...you should work for The Sun. {Ed022's Note - Thank you for your profound and insightful opinion on the workings of our knowledge, sources and general lives. It's truly meaningful in so many ways. This topic has been covered several times, and because you deem our knowledge as useless and meaningless, then there is little point telling you is there? Come on, be a little smarter.}

60 million for suarez, tell your having a great day on the ale, thats more than kaka in his best form went for, hes a striker with a average goals game record that has flashes of brilliance, a bit like lavezzi, so probably same price bracket difference being lavezzi has proper champions league experience, so 25 million 30 tops

The eds are laughable man.

{Ed002's Note - I see Kleenex Boy returns again to spread foul hate. As ever we have cut your pig ignorant post. We are still awaiting you having the site shut down. What's the delay?}

You have to understand that anything that remotely smacks of racism is the kiss of death in the US. It is a much more sensitive subject here than in Europe, for historical reasons.

The Suarez-Evra incident was so awful from a PR standpoint, I wondered if our sponsors would pull out. Because typically there are clauses that allow them to do so.

Most fans simply did not and do not seem to understand the gravity of the situation caused by the incident. Why, I do not know. Suffice to say, this is not the 1970's, and LFC is not some local institution.

The above poster is talking bullsh1t. Suarez is any defenders nightmare.

A couple of posts above that. £60 Million? Not a chance!

The Irish Rover

Liverpool FC have sunk to a new low if we have sponsors dictating who we are allowed to have in the team. Standard Chartered sponsor Liverpool because they make a lot of money on the back of our global name. If they want to get out of their contract let them sling their hook and give somebody else the chance to make some money out of sponsoring one of the most famous teams in world football.

FSG and Mr John Henry must be made aware that the best way to tarnish their relationship with the best supporters in the world will be to pander to Standard Chartered and hound Suarez out of the club. If they want a good return on their money they should dip into their own pockets like we are told they do for Red Sox and buy a couple of worlds class players to play alongside Suarez. HE MUST NOT BE SOLD.

Everyone knows that Evra was sent out by the loathsome Ferguson to goad Suarez until he snapped and his plan worked to perfection. If FSG and Standard Chartered continue to hound Suarez, so be it on their own heads. Liverpool supporters can be very forceful when roused. Just ask Hicks and Gillet.

redmersey {Ed022's Note - Its not just Standard Chartered who are unhappy about the Suarez incident, it's most of our sponsors! You fans need to remember that although a player may be magic on the pitch, the same player can be a financial nightmare and club destroyer off of the pitch. However, it seems to have settled down for now, so Suarez will only be sold if a high enough bid is put in place, not because we are being dictated to by Standard Chartered.}

Really hope this abusive comment gets put up!

the lad slating the eds, you im afraid are a not very nice word known as a retard! its publically known the sponsers were going to pull out you oaf, last time i checked it was the eds on this site who first told people on here posting rumours about suarez just wasnt sure if there was time, high quality person you are fella

The major issue is Redmersey, if Standard could have got out of their contract which is by far the biggest in our history, would any other company want to match it under the circumstances? I think not! Money makes the world go round & without the Standard deal or the Warrior deal even then there would be no Suarez or any othed high profile players for that matter. So as much as you might not like it, Standard & any other big sponsors do hold a reasonable amount of power as do any company wanting to invest major money.

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - If you think about it, the the money from Standard Chartered and Adidas is the same as the money that comes from the Champions League - hence it is so important.}

I feel sorry for FSG, they have to make a brave decision. They will do what's best for the club.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

If the sponsers were serious about getting out of the contract they would have done it, Fsg would have sacked Surez and KK before they would allow this to happen....but they didn't....Bobbinred {Ed002's Note - You cannot simply withdraw from a contract.}

I didn't mean just walk away from the contract, I meant they would have found a legal way of annulling the contract, The sponsers are a very powerfull group and I would think they would get what they wanted one way or another. As I said before if the sponsers had put enough pressure on FSG Surez would have had his contract terminated and KK would have been sacked for the handling of the whole affair, which may have appeased the sponsers. An after thought is that this could still be done at the end of the season.,,,Bobbinred {Ed002's Note - They were unable to find a legal route out on the grounds they had. I am not going in to the detail of what happened but considerable effort has been made to smooth things over by FSG.}

The law of contract is a minefield of legal arguement, I still feel if the sponsers wanted a way out they would have found it, it's £125 million we are talking about
So that leaves us with a sponser who dosen,t want to sponser us......I don't think so......Bobbinred {Ed002's Note - It is pointless telling you the truth and I have no interest in arguing about it.}

Are you infering I'm lying, I am just entering an opinion, yours differ from mine and I respect your opinion, but I have not seen it publicly that the sponsers wanted to withdraw from the contract, if they had tried the media would havelatched on to it and had a field day. The sponsers want a good return for their money, I don't condone what Surez did and I'm sure the sponsers were appalled but Surez's shirt sales alone are nearly 4 times that of Andy Carroll, so who's the most profitable.....Bobbinred {Ed002's Note - I did not say you were lying - but I have no intention of arguing about it with you as it is an entirely pointless activity.}

Everyone forgets when suarez joined liverpool he did indeed say he sees the premier league as the perfect stepping stone to la liga, if one of the top 4 teams in spain come calling he will go, john henry knows it would be 25 million plus and it rules out anymore problems with sponsership over the antics he has every so often, wouldnt suprise me if napoli or psg turn his head to, psg have money and napoli seem to have half the uraguay team haha id put money on if lavezzi leaves them suarez will join them

The greatest hat-trick I have ever seen. Anybody else think of Alonso when the 3rd went in?
Scouse_Pride {Ed022's Note - A little, but I mainly thought: 'About time Suarez!'}

Short MEMory

What about Gerrards' hatrick at Everton?

Dirk Kuyts against the mancs! 3 world class finishes!

BthekingB

Havent had any recently have you ed?
Dara D {Ed022's Note - Have had any what? I'm innocent minded so I have no presumptions on what you are referring to..}

Nah crouchie's perfect hat trick against arsenal was better
huddz red

The fact the ball didn't bounce before it went in the net was what made it the best hatrick goal ive ever seen!

YNWA jns

I meant by the quality of the finishes, not the quality of opponents.
Scouse_Pride

None of them hat tricks compare to fowlers v arsenal or kanu v chelsea or di canio v roma

28 Apr 2012 19:18:11
Have to say, Carragher's block was vital for the build up to the goal, so good on him.

28 Apr 2012 19:13:01
Hat-Trick!!

What a Finish!!

28 Apr 2012 19:05:58
Can someone please tell me what Henderson's role is on our team? I see him running around but can't pass, can't shoot, no vision, etc. Is he really suppose to replace Gerrard for future?

Happy with game, just asking

Have you ever played footy, parks or semi?

I like Henderson, he's only going to get better and hs technique and Work rate are first class.

Give the lad time, he's still learning...to answer your question - its a team game.

Lee YNWA

Totally agree, gr8 day n sorry for the negative but henderson aint lfc player
5gold stars

He's a good passer of the ball.
The Role he's been playing and played today is not about that. He's there to break the play up. For F"*ks sake give The "BOY" a break

Lyndon

To Lee YNWA, mate i have to say. Nothing against Henderson, fantastic work-rate, determination and bundles of energy. But just seems really short of confidence not having a fixed role in the team. Especially with Gerrard who isn't exactly a strictly speaking CM but more a free-role player especially on days he's on song, like today (Norwich) and Shelvey who's really attack minded.

Today seemed he had to take (or was given) the responsibility to keep things ticking at the back. I mean anyone would be confused. Two games as a winger, four as a central midfielder, one as a right back, one as holding midfielder. Must be hard on the young lad who's not exactly having a purple patch.

I'd say let him go to Sunderland for a year loan while we work out exactly where and what role we want him to play.
What'd you say Lee?
sama491

Sama, it all depends (Hendersons role) on whether Kenny is still in charge next season tbh.

It's a testament to Henderson that he's played all these positions and kept his head down and tried his best. The fact that he's played 'a lot' this year, surely means he's top quality in training and therefore worth the wait? It's used a lot, but take heed from our own Lucas..

I personally wouldn't loan him out - he's very versatile and can fit into many systems of play.

Just be patient with him - wait and see.

Lee YNWA

Goal of the season...Suarez you beauty yanks not gonna sell him

The Bailiff

28 Apr 2012 19:16:52
All credit to Saurez today finish hatpick in style, credit to Johnson and also mention carra today at back :-) much better second half passing come on Chelsea :-)

28 Apr 2012 19:16:49
Omg that last goal from suarez was AMAZING reminded me of alonso. STEMLOCC1

28 Apr 2012 19:15:33
What a fantastic player Luis is. And Jonjo was very good also.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Just hope we keep hold of him in the summer Blair mate.. I think Jonjo's loan move to Blackpool has done him the world of good.
(irishred)

Everytime Jonjo plays irish mate, he plays well. The Blackpool loan was a great move for all involved. I remember his 1st week back from his loan, he started away to Villa. He was fantastic that game and was not fazed at all. And seems to be getting more used to being in the limelight and his confidence is growing rapidly. If he keeps playing like that, i can't see Hendo getting much starts at CM.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

I do think Hendo will become a very good player for us but I agree with you Blair when Lucas comes back next season he will find his chances limited if he does'nt step his game up.
(irishred)

Shelvey seems to have settled in, in the 1st team more than Hendo. Jonjo was finding good space and running into it, around the box. He could or should have had a couple of goals today. We all talk about our youngsters and how good we think they are. But not many (including me) rarely mention Shelvey. He could be the best of them all and so far my young player of the year, for us.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Suarez hattrick! What a peach of a goal! Singred

28 Apr 2012 19:14:39
Kenny has to Go.
I'm off to the pub to celebrate and it's all
Kenny's fault

28 Apr 2012 19:14:33
Anybody who wants Suarez to be traded this summer, needs to see the sheer brilliance of his 3rd goal tonight.
ra1969

One decent hat trick doesnt mean the owners suddenly forget the problems hes caused with sponcership, its like every time balotelli scores a few or has a class game mancini n the arabs go ahhh yeah never a liability him

28 Apr 2012 18:58:19
Lavezzi is most probably joining Inter.

Dont be suprised to see suarez join napoli then, already have, cavani, gargano, hernandez, n co so really wouldnt be shocked to see him go there

28 Apr 2012 18:42:51
Stuart Downing - Hide-and-Go-Seek champion 2012.
(irishred)

So is henderson, shelvey miles better than henderson, bench downing n henderson , suarez on fire tday, gr8 performance, imagine if he had someone up top with him or linking up aswell as stevie, ericksen and a classy winger,
5gold stars

Agree with ya about Suarez and Shelvey had a good game 5 gold stars mate..but I think Hendo will come good eventually.
(irishred) {Ed022's Note - Without doubt mate.}

Dont like to slate after a gr8 performance, but i just dont see henderson in games n hes talked as stevies replacemeant, come on were all bright enuf to know he aint half a stevie g, if you could stick a christian ericksen n a good striker n winger we would be some side
5gold stars

Still find a time for a dig at Henderson after a 3-0 win
Well done??

Lyndon {Ed022's Note - sigh.}

Downing is simply amazing. Has all the speed and skill to make it to the last third of the pitch with the ball. And then he simply goes missing in action...It surprises no one he has no goals and no assists thus far this season, and i see no reason why or how this will change... ra1969

Errrrmmm to you lot saying eriksen, where are you putting him? hes literally as identical as it gets to gerrard, just far more lightweight {Ed022's Note - Really though?}

Ed022 yeah if you watch him in holland hes so similar to gerrard for them, box to box engine, loves to get shots in from range can pass from everywhere, quick off the mark, hes so very similar to gerrard, perfect replacement to be gradually edged in i guess but not to play with, one difference is his positional play when defending though, tend to see his marker losing him alot from set pieces {Ed022's Note - I've profiled Eriksen and watched him a hell of a lot mate, but for you to say what you did I didn't agree with. A lightweight Gerrard? In my opinion, Eriksen has bettered Gerrard this season and last season (granted due to injury) but I do agree with you, Eriksen is the perfect replacement/upgrade for Gerrard when he retires.}

You drop gerard in there n ericksen plays behind the striker r on the right,

28 Apr 2012 18:34:35
In the 15 matches (all competitions) since his return from suspension Suarez has scored 8 goals.

Cheers motty...talking of mot dirk kuyt cant leave in the summer till he has finished his contract on celebrity juice...hoooshh..

28 Apr 2012 18:29:52
I have to say we have played better this season and had no joy. Isn't it too much of a coincidence though that with the pressure off we relax and score the chances?
I hope whoever is the manager next season, KK or anyone else can relax the players into taking the chances and remove the pressure. Clearly today with a Cup Final to look forward to, and no league position to worry about we are relaxed and the confidence builds once we score one goal.
If Davey is correct about Carroll and he was out on the lash last night then, improvement or not, he needs shipping, that cannot be tolerated.
Davey where did youy see him out mate? gutted to hear he would behave like that after doing so well recently.
Regards,
ALB.

28 Apr 2012 18:23:10
Hi Eds,

How much money are we losing out on not getting a champions league place.
Also other than revenue from stadium, club shops, standard chartered and warrior sports sponsorships how much are we revenue are we generating from other sources approximately?
Finally with the recession hitting the country again what effect do you see that having?

Cheers ,
Hassan {Ed002's Note - The Champions League would generate £30M plus. The turnover for this year will be circa £170-£180M. As you say, times are tough and clubs are struggling. They will look to cut costs.}

28 Apr 2012 18:22:58
Well after first twenty mins the passing wasn't good and norwich looked good attacking but ten mins after wow, must say Saurez looks really up for it today and skrtel not playing as you know he is first on team sheet next weekend :-)

28 Apr 2012 18:22:13

28 Apr 2012 18:16:34
it would seem by looking at the last 10-15 comments on here that people r loosing their patience with the players being bought, but to be honest im not suprised we bought the worst footballers in the world (carroll) and (adam) poor. eds are we going to buy british again or buy quality players abroad that are reasonably cheap

Such as?

It was on the rumours page people saying stuff that sounds like there frustrated

28 Apr 2012 18:08:49
Happy about Suarez goals. stomach sick every time Carra passes back to Reina for long ball. He really offers nOthing these days. Have we given up on Coates?

FFS, can't you just be happy?

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

NO NO NO NO NO

Carragher had a good game..

28 Apr 2012 17:57:05
Surely the next manager must realise that Gerard needs to be played as close to Suarez as possible.

Jack the Groove {Ed002's Note - I can't see Gerrard moving to Italy.}

You're asking for trouble Ed002..hehe

Lee YNWA

Madrid is in spain

Suarez will be at Liverpool next season, i'm quite sure unless a bid of over £37 million comes in. No point in saying why i think this as another poster claiming sources is all we need, but its a fact. GIGBONADS

Ed u forgot Liverpool is an English club and so is gerrard
Harsh

Juventus are very fond of Uruguayan (Paolo Montero) footballers and they also seem to have a lot of cash.

£37m, we should accept no less than £45m.
Fkd off with clubs getting our players on the cheap and we pay top prices..
Lee73

37 million for a STRIKER! lets not forget hes bought as a striker who has a goals to game ratio of 1 in 3 for liverpool, sorry but you can get van persie, jelavic, gomez, lewondowski, all got a goals to game ratio of nearly 1 in 1 cheaper than 37 million and around his age so why would he command a fee of that? way to much fm12 for you i reckon, a tenner on him going napoli in the summer when lavezzi goes inter would more than likely win you money

Carrol was a 12 million tops player, adam 5 million, liverpool just got caught in a high times transfer window, suarez is a striker whos got a very average goals to games ratio, gomez and van persie are being talked about for under 30 million so enlighten the world on how luis is worth 45 million? hes on par with lavezzi and sanchez for me, 25 million player 30 tops

20 mins gone, and ive never witnessed a lfc side so devoid of ideas. maybe too many are thinking of next sat as they dont seem to be really putting in any effort.
billy

Well 30 mins gone and now 2 - 0, anything else to say ? impatient idiot.

G BOX

Especially suarez on finishing..

Gbox you prat, it might be 2-0 but they still look laboured with their passing. everyones entitled to an opinion.
billy

I will take laboured passing, terrible crossing, players who stand there scratching there nuts as long as we win everyweek, why don't you wait a little longer before you start slating the team...

G BOX

28 Apr 2012 17:52:56
Does anyone else notice how labored our passing is? Why can't the lads pass to each other? Every pass looks a giveaway waiting to happen. We look horrible, again

30 min in and 2 nil up, what more do you want?

28 Apr 2012 17:46:01
If you want to see Steven Gerrard on The Late Late Show [in Ireland] then watch this video.

Skrtel and Coates on the bench.

Norwich will get some soft chances today.

28 Apr 2012 17:36:33
How refreshing it is to hear the Liverpool fans singing and supporting the team, if only the same could be said of home games. Odd choice to see Carra starting but we'll just have to see how the game goes.

always a red

predictions for today: going for a close 2-1 win with Suarez getting the winner :D

This is not a rumour.
As a keen supporter of Liverpool Football Club I have tremendous respect and endless support for people who have done good to the club, the people made possible to regard Liverpool FC as one of the greatest clubs in the history of Football game. Hence, Sir Kenneth Dalglish has all my support, and i believe all supporters have to do so as well. I find these recent rumours about replacement of King an utter disrespect not only for King as a legend and one of the demiurges of LFC's legacy, but also these rumours represent sheer incompetence and ignorance due to the fact that King brought the joy of winning trophies back to where it should belong - the Anfield, the Kop and the hearts of Liverpool FC supporters. I wholeheartedly beg bending my knees, please stop these ridiculous speculations, behave yourself, have some decency! Let him do his job untill the season is over, we still have a final against Chelsea, why this shouldn't be a start of a new era of glory?! King Kenny, You will never walk alone, don't you doubt that Sir!
Sincerely, Jackie

Hey eds

Firstly, been following the site for a couple of seasons now, and big fans of you guys and macca aswell, for me this is the go to site for info (but always being aware things are subject to change)
Anyways, I know I have to word my question right, as I know you can throw some funny dry humour answers in the mix..
I think its fair to say amongst the community of this site that the 'general' consensus is that Kenny will step down, leave, move upstairs - ultimately not be Liverpool manager by next season...now when I'm watching the general football shows, football focus, sky sports Saturday, ESPN, etc..they are all talking about Kenny spending x amount in the summer, Kenny looking to add/change the squad in the summer...a lot of information from this site leaks into the public domain and normally when there are whispers of a manager leaving, the host tries to probe, guests etc but like I said with Kenny its the opposite...are the eds or macca aware of a remit to the media to keep this under wraps, I know its a kind of random question but I'm intrigued with this one...cheers eds {Ed002's Note - Most of the media would not keep things "under wraps". The responsible media/journalistic folk would respect being told something in confidence.}

28 Apr 2012 17:28:23
Hey Edds
Do you have any idea as to why Carrol isnt even on the bench this evening? is he injured or are they just resting him?

Cheers Kieran {Ed002's Note - A Watusi based injury.}

28 Apr 2012 17:25:09
Not quite a rumour but more a general question. If Kenny was going to step down in the summer which I personally don't think. Why would he have been in France scouting on Friday? Since surely his opinion wouldn't matter on our targets?

Unless his new role upstairs will be director of football and he's getting started early which I think is even more unlikely then him leaving in the summer. {Ed002's Note - Have you considered that perhaps no decision has been taken over his stepping aside?}

28 Apr 2012 17:22:03
Just eloborate further on my previous point, whats the point in us spending millions on our academy if none of these players are given a chance? Im not saying start them but include them in the squad give them some games. I mean take flanagn for example, his experience from last and this season will be invaluable. Granted he has made some mistakes and he might not turn out to be a future liverpool right back. Worst case scenario he gets sold for a few million to a Villa/Wigan etc. If you are good enough then you are old enough, all these rubbish about players careers being ruined by being played to early! Rubbish. People often cite Owen as an example of this; I would rather have the countless seasons we had with a world class striker, getting a chance to shine. It just feels like we never have a an academy playergiven a decent chance, but we persist in playing players who are completley out of form. Rant over! El Pistolero

28 Apr 2012 17:21:21
all this talk of this player and that player when in reality we have 20m to spend - dont get you a lot in this market and we need a few quality players not maybe 1

28 Apr 2012 17:20:04
Any idea why Carroll isnt in the squad today?

28 Apr 2012 17:19:55
So Marko Marin is any gd? will he fit in at chelsea eds? {Ed002's Note - I am sure he will fit in.}

28 Apr 2012 17:19:38
Where was kenny looking for players when Chelsea signed Marin. He is such a crap manager who does not have a clue he is deluded and instead of Commoli the owners should have sacked the muppet responsible for the utter mess or team is in. We are only as good as the league table and kenny has turned this team in to a mid table club. He has set fire to huge sums of money for what a lump of wood with a ponytail. F the cups he is a joke and when he is sacked i will pop a bottle of champs because the club can start moving forward.He will not get a job upstairs because the owners know he can offer nothing he is as good a manager as carra is a striker.

Damien, give it up. You are no longer employed by LFC, enjoy your time off back in France. Idiot

28 Apr 2012 17:19:29
WTF? Andy Carroll not even on the bench?
I think an explanation is needed.
If he HAS done something wrong then we deserve to know he has been dropped due to discipline.
If he is injured then likewise.
If it is just KK making the decision, then we need to know that, plus the reasoning behind it.
The blame lays with someone, and it wouldn't be fair for us to be directing it at the wrong person. {Ed002's Note - Why do you deserve to know what he has done wrong - are you a football fan or a gossip fan? Our clishmaclaver (Davey from Bootle) has already explained that Carroll was out dancing last night and got injured doing the Watusi.}

Because if Andy has been a bit naughty and been out on the lash - then it's his fault and it wouldn't be fair for anyone to say anything about KK for not having him in the team or on the bench.
If he hasn't done anything wrong, then the it's not fair for us to be thinking that he has and blaming him instead.
However, if he is injured then neither are to blame and everyone can get on with it {Ed002's Note - So you want the gossip then.}

28 Apr 2012 17:18:38
Hi Ed/s, hope you're doing well today!
Hopefully a win coming up!

Anyway, since I heard about Comolli having a lot of control in LFC it's been playing on my mind and got me wondering... Do you have any idea what happened when Kenny Dalglish was player manager those years ago? Was there a Dof, did Kenny control the tactics, did they even bother with using many tactics, etc?

Thanks for any response.
Ell. {Ed002's Note - I am good today and hope you are in a nifty state as well. I think you are worrying too much about the pre history and this whole Comolli issue is being way over played.}

28 Apr 2012 17:18:10
How doea carra get in team ahead of coates is beyond me..kenny keep making things difficult..

Red indian

28 Apr 2012 17:17:01
When on earth would spurs be able to not only buy hulk but pay hiis fee but pay his wages? So i doubt it would be spurs interested we have a bigger budget and a bigger wage budget than spurs so why would it not be us i really do get the feeling liverpool are not going to buy in big quintitys this year but quality 2 perhaps 3 players with undoubted qualitys that will walk straight into team. Having said all that i think it woukd be unlikely hulk would choose us although i do think spanish players such as munian lorente could be lured due to our connections with spain id say watch this space

Spurs have very rich men at the club ie Joe Lewis.....not the brown bomber..the billionaire....smf

The owner joe lewis its close to getting back to his £3 billion bracket, they also have another on the board who is estimated to be worth around 1.5 billion! AEG will also look to start investing in the club?

28 Apr 2012 17:16:27
Hey eds, do you guys know why carroll isn't in the squad today? and why is carragher starting ahead of skrtel?...

Thanks
Kindest Regards {Ed002's Note - Read the other posts please.}

28 Apr 2012 17:12:43
why isn 't carroll in the squad today?
is it just a precaution for the big final?
and kk today said that funds are available to buy players in the summer ,maybe from raul's sell,prize money,new deals(like standard chartered + warrior sports) etc + owner's giving more funds & player's sell,
so it does make a considerable budget right?
and,why are we not agreeing pre contracts with players
like other clubs did with shaqiri, reus, marin, ninis etc ?

28 Apr 2012 17:04:23
Eds, why doesnt Kenny give one of the yougsters a chance to be in the squad. Yet again we have three central (ok Kelly is more RB but stll) defenders on the bench. Its infuriating because it just doesnt make any sense. Whats the worst that could happen, Coady or Sterling gets 10 minutes of premier league experience in Game of liuterally no importance whatsoever! Ridiculous, its just so frustrating!!!!!!!!!!! El Pistolero {Ed002's Note - I have answered this numerous times already - and I am sure as a regular you know that answer.}

28 Apr 2012 16:59:30
Hey Ed / Macca - I heard a whisper AC has been dropped for a breach of conduct i.e partying late? Is it true? I will be gutted if it is as I thought the lad had turned the corner.
The Goatherder
JFT96 {Ed002's Note - There is a note from our buddy Davey in Bootle.}

There's reports that it's just a precaution due to a slight injury, but he should be back for the cup final next week. {Ed002's Note - So not a Watusi based injury?}

Why risk an injury to our player of the year with the FA cup final next week?

Kieran

28 Apr 2012 16:59:18
Oh Great Carra starts! This is why ppl get on Kenny's back.

28 Apr 2012 16:56:24
I liked the teamsheet today til I noticed Carra again. Why not give Coates another Cameo? Not only does it limit Coates experience, it also gives Norwich a goal, or perhaps two.

28 Apr 2012 16:55:12
Bet you we hit the post or bar today. Red ross

That's a safe bet my friend

Bet we win too

28 Apr 2012 16:54:18
Oh crap carra is starting
Bean

28 Apr 2012 16:52:24
Can I just ask a question? Would you prefer to start from the beginning, getting rid of senior players that have had their day at the club and getting fresh, technichal, keen players in and hoping that in 5 years we could be a champions league and league challenging side for a generation? Or carry on as we are, hoping that we can attract established stars to the club and hope they gel sooner rather than later? DAR

28 Apr 2012 16:50:04
Carroll not even on the bench? Any injury news or is he off

28 Apr 2012 16:48:17
Just seen on Twitter JC to retire this summer.
Ed's any follow up on that?
Lee73

28 Apr 2012 16:44:31
Carrol out in town at 4am this morning. I'm not one to gossip...I've defended this player 100% but I've had enough.

DaveyBootle

He isnt even on the bench today. perhaps he knew this and that is why he was out? but who knows

Is that right Davey?
If so what an apse hole...

Phooey

Where? In Norwich? Cause surely they would've travelled yesterday?

Jack the Groove

IF this is true, then someone will be getting a bargain in the summer. As no doubt he will be sold for peanuts, and most likely turn into a goal scoring machine!
Lee73

Twitter rumours, I assume?

Alex

Out with a slight groin injury, so best rested I suppose!

Keith

No way!? I thought he was enjoying movies with his lady and the occasional Xbox game, online with team mates?

If this is true - he needs to go.

Lee YNWA

Disagree all you want. I swear on my life with this one.

DaveyBootle

On my life.

DaveyBootle

Marin for 8m Euros is a bargain and one I get really mad at. OK I agree we can't be interested in every footballer and If we sign a player of that quality at a decent price I will not complain.
But at this moment is annoying at how many teams get quality players on the cheap, Marin Podolski Cisse Jelavic Cabaye Ba etc and a few outside the PL like Ricky van Wolfswinkel Capel Ninis Turan etc. We ended up with Downing for 20m? At this rate we will buy Matty Ethringnton for 18m

Again I will be delighted to be proven wrong at the end of the window but

Everyone beating Fulham. At least Fulham won't pass us on the table. Ofcourse, Everton well beyond us which is the downside. Looks like FSG bought the wrong team on Merseyside. Imagine what Moyes would do with 100 million!

Go back to the Everton side and stop pretending to be a Liverpool fan, ''well beyond us'' stop talking nonsense, we beat you lot three times we won one cup and are in the final for another, it's been what 17 years since your last trophy? You lot would give your right arms to have had the season we've had, and most of us aren't happy when you lot are jumping for joy? LOL

I dont understand why ppl are going mad over the marko marin signing. He is an attacking MF, is a bit pacy, but thts all. Not creative, does not tackle, no strength. He has had fitness issues this season. On top of that,he has scored just one goal and has 5 assists..n tht is bundesliga. Charlie adam has got better stats than him. We don't need his kind of player , end of. What we need is an out n out winger and a striker who can score goals. And marin is neither. So stop.crying n have faith, we will sign players wr want.MS12

Well said.

Marin = LW/LM as well and is 10 x the player Downing is. What planet u from?

I am from the same planet as your are jackass... I just have the balls to.write my name at the end of the post... All I say , we do not need lm/lw player... We need a right winget.. Also if a player has fitness issues.and.scores just one goal all season then there is no need to buy him. We can't buy all the players so suck up and get on with it.

MS12

He has been injured for most of this season thats why his stats are like that

Why on earth is there so much be written about chelsea and who they are signing. Yes Marin's a class player but also an injury prone player, hence the 6-8 million pound bracket. Id much rather focus on quality youngsters.
Ramirez, Phillips, Tello, Elm, Soldado, Munian. Promote Suso, Adorjan, Wisdom, Silva and Coady.
Sell johnson, spearing, adam, maxi, kuyt, aurelio i would even sell suarez.
Then use an attacking four of
Munian Tello Ramirez (all interchangable)
Soldado
with Lucas and Gerrard just behind one to break up play and one to launch the attacks. Gerrard could dictate the play spraying passes up to the front 4.

I agree but i would keep suarez.

I forgot to add Cole and Aquilani, if we could get 10 million for those two, i would be delighted, say you got 30 for suarez and about 12 for johnson, and upto 10 for the rest we would do really well out of it. Say Mr Henry said you have 20m and money for sales, i think we would do very well in the transfer market. Si

Reina.
Kelly. Strtel. Agger. Jose
Lucas
Gerrad.
Munain. Suarez. Gaston
Soldado!
Munain and Ramirez change sides during games and Lucas provides that Link from defense to attack. Gerrad floats around into space.

Jesus Christ! Marin signs for Chelsea and everyone starts throwing their toys out of the pram. "Why didn't we sign him. Our scouts are cack" etc. Just because you've heard his name or seen him on FIFA 12, it doesn't mean he'll be a world beater. He might turn out to be garbage in the Premier League. Just wait until the transfer window has even started, let alone finished, before you start spitting your dummies out.

Good point. Let's stick with the current policy, going after premier league proven players. Oh wait.....

Clever mate. Give yourself a gold star for another original joke

I had a discussion with a few reds a couple of weeks ago about how this season most other fans seem to hate our club and have relished in our poor form but in the last few hours I can kind of see why. Is it just our fans who get so upset when other teams sign players? I hope this terrible whining only happens on these forums and not in general public. It's embarrassing.
Yes Chelsea seem to have bagged a bargain in Marin for €8m but why complain about it?! He had nothing to do with us.

Ed's is it just the Liverpool sites where this is happening or do fans on the other sites get so upset if Chelsea buy a player?
Jason {Ed002's Note - It is a trait of the Liverpool fans "another missed bargain" etc.. The Arsenal fans who have traditionally been very supportive turned on Wenger at the start of the season and have very much turned on Ramsey now, but seem to have little interest in other clubs. The Manchester United fans seem to have little interest in the first team and spend most of their time grizzling about the financial aspects that they don't understand. The Chelsea page is pretty quiet most of the time and the Scottish posts are written in a language I don't understand.}

Completely agree with this post don't know why some people think we should sign every player who's ever done a step over and then moan when we don't stupid really.

You have it wrong. Weak are pointing out that Chelsea are strengthening, even outside the transfer window, while we keep talking about the summer. Perhaps we need to be as aggressive. Marin isn't a world beater, but he is a very talented player with creativity. Chelsea already have this in Ramires, Mata and n
now Marin. We have no creativity in midfield and need to strengthen. Lucas will not bring that. Personally I would love to see Kagawa signed as he would compliment Lucas well

28 Apr 2012 15:28:47
When are people going to get a grip?? Buying a player is not a auction, where the highest bidder wins! The player also needs to want to join the club. So can we stop with all the, we let such a body join Chelsea and such a body join city. Do you all think they would join Liverpool. This is what macca talks about when he says thing change. If a bigger club comes in, were screwed!

Chelsea never have been or ever will be a bigger club.

Maybe we Liverpool fans sometimes forget that current footballers are a fickle lot, and unfortunately at the moment, Chelsea are a more attractive option. Not necessarily a "bigger" club, but maybe a club with more exposure at the moment.

Doesnt the fact that kk with clarke being at the montpieler game scouting players mean hes staying for next season.?
Opinions ?! {Ed002's Note - We'll see.}

If I was a manager with a 50/50 chance of being the manager in the next transfer window, I would certainly continue scouting potential options which would gel into my vision, hell I would do it if it was a 15/85 chance

Can everyone stop f**king moaning, yes, we're in 8th place but we have improved. We've won our first trophy since 2006 and we are on our way to our second in 7 days time. IF only the players took the changes they received we would be up there.
So STFU, support the team, relax.

plain taunt hall

Plain taunt hall - 7th place finish last season, currently 8th with 4 games to go, and a very real possibility of finishing in the bottom half of the table! Thats hardly an improvement. Winning a cup on a penalty shoot- out lottery after drawing a game 2 - 2 against a mid table championship side is hardly any real acheivement. Did we win the cup yes, jhave we improved no!

Steve

Oh great we've won a cup that none of the top 6 teams wanted to win! How on earth is this an improvement! I'd rather play CL football for the next three seasons than win an FA/League cup!

Everyone since to forget if you buy top class players you'll have a better chance to win the league & cups, don't look at Arsenal because they don't spent money on top players because if the did they be up there with City & UTD "there're not too far off to be fair", CL football is more important than wining two cups.

The ones who are disagreeing must suport someone else or should do.
for gods sake support the team. thats why they are in the position.
the fans are just as much to blame as the players. some of the fans have been crap all season, at he last game my daughter was even moaned at for singing ,she was told to shut up last week its a disgrace.

Steve - I had no idea Liverpool just got plopped into the final of the Carling Cup. How lucky is that! And I've also heard we have been put straight into the final of the FA Cup.....

Different subject to most...but can the someone please give me their thoughts on Charlie Adams 1st yr...cops a lot of bad press here and other sites but I thought he wasnt to bad..losing Lucas had a huge effect on Adam..any thoughts ?

He did great till lucas was out imo, but then gerrard came back. and he feels he needs to be a gerrard, which isnt what he is, nor what we want

I dont remember him taking a good free kick/ corner/ penalty which was most of his game at blackpool so therefor dissapointed

Needs to improve tackling, passing (short and long), and set pieces (esp corners since his free kicks were ok). Needs to learn when to release the ball.

Can the eds post their opinion. {Ed002's Note - We don't have one.}

11 assists this season? Tailed off towards the end, but it's a big jump fron Blackpool to Liverpool. Higher expectations etc. From his good side i've been thoroughly impressed, quite the opposite when he gets it wrong. I'm sure he'll improve next season.

I think adam problems is he is too slow which is what make him late for tackles around our own box lucas did the running when he was fit so adam looked better because he had lucas to rely on 1st year i would say good buy as squad player not starting 11.
rusedy

I think everyone expected the charlie adam of blackpool to come which was never going to happen. he is playing deeper at anfield than at blackpool. i think his set piece skills have dropped dramatically but i think that's just a confidence issue i think he will improve next year
derryred

For me, I though Charlie was quite good the 1st half of Blackpool's season in the top flight, but very ordinary in the 2nd half. Frankly was surprised we went for him due to this. That said, I think he's a good squad player based on his form over the last year or so, but maybe if he can play a little farther forward he might be more useful to us.

RDL

Good summing up Derry Red

Adam is a good squad player but no more than that.

this season has being big dissapointment. top 4 finish was a joke in second half of season. 1 cup maybe a second will paper over cracks. i love king kenny, fan of his in the 80's. worried when he came back, not working out would damage his reputation. most of kenny out people i think are younger fans. that said winning second cup and stabilizing club, then stepping aside would cement his status as liverpool idol.
we forget that other clubs have fallen well short this season
spurs will not get top 4 (same old story)
barca no league or champions league. (the new man u, this was there chance to win many cl, not taken)
man u this season was supposed to be the one they could beat the unbeatable barca. basel and a bilbao. also maybe thrown away league.
chelsea cl final is unbelievable, well done, hope they win it for english football, i suspect they will come up short and not in top 4.
arsenal top 4 when most people gave them no hope. always there or there abouts.
newcastle could be story of season .
man city maybe league, if they do ok season as they were rightly expecting silverware with their outlay.
r madrid league in bag but still a failure as they measure sucsess by cl wins only.
bayern munich i think they will win cl, hope not. if they do then great season for them.
so not all teams have great seasons. no consolation i know but we have no debt, money to spend and good young players coming up through ranks. may a new young manager (laudrup maybe). playing good football and given time and some money things will turn around.
looking forward to fa cup final, summer transfer window and next season.

hey lfc fans..............

i cant see liverpool winning today...but as we have no chance of climbing into a decent league position...i guess im not bothered

we have no right to finish 4th anymore..we havent for 4 yrs...so why should we!!

liverpool fc are far far behind the top teams that people dont realise..........i personally think the club need to spend a hell of alot of money to buy quality...to get us back there..............while putting in a few youngsters each time........to give them experience like what barca do...

we are slowly disappearing like an old relic.....7th or 8th every year is not good enough... and i dont think dalglish can turn us around....i prefer a different manager who can build a structure and organisation in our team, with PACE...we have neither

red lobster

Red loser more like it, with fans like you we don't need enemies. It's not going to be an overnight process just look at City! However the rot has been stopped behind the scenes with FSG taking over. I expect us to be more competitive next year, our cup performances have shown that we can play and win when we have to. Next year will be about consolidation and consistency, this will realise a better league position. It's the trouble with today's society everybody wants instant results and it just doesn't work like that.

Boxer

Very optimistic i see

Man Utd are waiting to collect lots more fans like you, Mr Lobster

That kind of defeatist talk was common when we were virtually in recievership because of the previous owners, only able to but the likes of Konchesky and Poulsen.

But we now have a solid financial foundation and good owners. E.g. we paid 35m and 23m for two strikers last Jan, and we will spend again in the summer (this time more carefully).

Mistakes have been made yes, but we are not too far from the top 4. Have faith lad.

The problem i see is that we have no spinn in hte team.
We got young talented player to be formd but who do they look upon whene they have a poor day? If we hade keept our key players, and not sufferd injurys, it would be diffrent. Like UNT, they got the oldies to show the way for the young once and they only sell what they dont need or for big bucks. That way whene the oldies retired the youngling aint so young and ready to show the next era of players the way of LFC, now we got 11 players and only one to look at (Gerrard) and he isent having his best season either..

The Rob

People forget that until we lost at home to arsenal in the new year we were challenging for fourth...a game in which we dominated by the way. If memory serves me correctly if we had won that we would have been 4 points behind them. Once we lost that, it was a 10 point gap and were effectively out of it...
Don't get me wrong, I don't like our league position either but I think we have come leaps and bounds, and will hopefully continue to progress.
Just my two cents...
Paul Mc

i know all the rumours will be about pep for the rest of the summer now but i do believe that his love and loyalty to barca is too strong and he wont tell them he is taking a year out only to turn up at another club in the summer, he seems to be a man of integrity and if he says he's taking a year out then i believe thats exactly what he will do(i could be wrong of course)

just wondering what everyone else (including eds) think of him as a manager though, my mate was saying the other day that he thinks there is this general thought out there that anyone can be in charge at barcelona right now and win with that team so until he has proved he can take over a team that is maybe a top 5 or 6 team and turn them into a title challenging team then there will be this small cloud hanging over him, sort of like rijkaard, he won 2 la ligas and a champions league but didn't win anything with galatassaray. Personally i would love him at liverpool but like i said i dont see it happening just wondering what other people think of him managerial wise.

cheers :)

does anyone know what its worth or the best place to sell it. i wanted to keep it forever but hard times cause drastic measures!

Try Ebay, Show plenty of pics of the signatures with a little back ground info about the players that signed it,
List the starting price at what you are happy to receive...If you don't reach the starting price you only lose the listing fees.
It will also show if there is any interest for the ball.

The worst i've experienced with our club was administration 18 months ago people seem to forget that. we were rock bottom but i now believe we are climbing that hill again be patient my red friends.

Question for all of you, dalglish has wasted over £100million and we have nOt even challenged for top 6, we simply cannot Afford to waste more money and nto challenge for top 4 next season too, why do you guys insist dalglish be given another season? Our form is the worst for over 50 years, do you really think thats improvement? Playing full strength sides against reserve team players in the carling cup is not improvement, its covering over the very poor and serious mis-management off transfers and tactics. I believe we need a. Younger manager, someone like rafa or the valencia manager to cherry pick some hot prospects from spain and create a style of play that we can stick with. Liverpool cannot afford, i repeat liverpool cannot afford to simply give dalglish more money to spend after such an awful season, eds i would like your comments and opinions on this matter, would be grateful.RedTurk

That's the Spirit. Start moaning and bitching before a ball is kicked today, what a true loyal fan you are.

Cork Red Boi

I know that we have wasted a lot of money, but there is no point crying over spilt milk RedTurk. Kenny has to go imo. Not a kenny hater, but as i have been saying all along, he is not the man to take us forward. Michael Laudrup is the man for me. I have a couple of DVDs of him playing for barca n denmark. If the guy plans to implement that strategy with our team, i wud be delighted. Im sure he would be able to attract big names/spanish players or even christain eriksen to the club since he is highly respected n well known among the younger players. Rafa Benitez is another manager i rate very highly. But he is not the best option around. As far as improvement goes, henderson n downing will have improved come next season, n quality players r being targeted like munian, susaeta, llorente, soldado, ramirez...
Im sure with maybe two of the above, we will be back in the top4. However, i believe we need to get rid of adam n carroll. They r holding the club back, n i hate the fact the other players have to adjust so much to play to carrol's strength, coz that is hampering the team's overall performance. A soldado or llorente alonside suarez is a dream strike force which will have the opposition's defenders shivering with fear. We also need a new RB, coz Johnson is simply too lazy to play for our club. Imo the new manager wud need atleast 30 million pounds plus money from sales to mould us into a competitive team, n of course some time. However after commolli's sacking, i assume kenny was not the lone culprit in signing most of the under performing players, so whether he deserves more time or not, only a certain MR JOHN HENRY will know.
Indian Buzzer

You could of made the same point without having to write the first 5 lines ...you're the proverbial broken record. Whether Dalgish is right or wrong for the role, your disrespectful dismissing of him makes my back arch. Why don't you step down as a Liverpool fan this summer 'cos YOU (in my opinion) haven't been very good.

dd

For goodness sake, surely you have seen an improvement on the pitch over the season? Do you not think that we have had some terrible luck this season also? Hit the post and the bar more than any other team this season. You redturk are the most negative poster i have come across on this site and i have been on this site for a long time. If all you want to do is be critical, why dont you find somewhere else to post it? it really is becoming boring. Your just a fan that wants instant success. If i remember correctly ferguson went six long years trophyless before he was successful where as Dalglish has won one trophy and could win another in just his first seaon. Give the guy a break man and support the team as you should!

Ian the red

Or you could look at it as Dalglish has spent over £100 million, won us our first trophey in 6 years, got us to the final of another cup (3 fantastic days out at Wembley for our fans, our first visits to the new Wembley) and got us back into European football (all be it a lot of people don't care about the Europa League, I do, its another comp, its a european comp, I mean look at the sides in the later stages this year, even United and City struggled)
So 1/3 cups (so far)
2 finals

If thats not PROGRESSION then I dont know what is

Weve had awful luck all year and dont really deserve to be where we are but we cant give up on Kk now... Important games coming up and we need to support them

Speeds

The negative posts are starting and we haven't even kicked a ball yet.

You need to see the bigger picture. We have lost Lucas for the second half of the season, one of our best players was banned for 8 games and to top it off we have had a whole new sqaud that needs to learn each others game. Just because you can go on fifa and buy who you want and they instantly gel, doesn't mean it's like that in real life. How many of the games we've played this season have we been unlucky?

In my opinion kenny will get it right, but if you think bringing Rafa back is the answer then you wrong. You need to realise how bad our club was, ok our league form isn't acceptable but your remarks are disrespectful and if that's your attitude you don't deserve to be labeled a Liverpool fan.

It's clear to me that who ever the manager is, as soon as we loose a game some fans will be asking for his head.

Best fans in the world, don't make me laugh. Fans on the other banter sites wouldn't act like half of you plastic fans on here.

this is liverpool football club second isnt an exceptable 8th certanly isnt!

RedTurk, honestly mate- you don't actually support LFC. You may think you do, but you're deluding yourself- you are a Utd supporter, and you need to give your 'support' to them, and to start whinging on match day before they even kick off.
You miserable toad of a man.

Or else you really are a Utd fan, and are just a permanent troll on this site to slag every player off for a laugh.
Thats it, isnt it? You'r a Utd fan trolling this page.

Liverpool are set to rest a number of players ahead of today's game in order to avoid possible injuries and suspensions ahead of next week's FA Cup Final.

Reina
Kelly
Carragher
Coates
Jose Enrique
Bellamy
Shelvey
Spearing
Maxi
Carroll
Kuyt

Subs: Doni, Flanagan, Skrtel, Aurelio, Gerrard, Henderson, Suarez

Your wrong, Gerrard to start alongside Henderson in CM

Surely the common sense approach would be to give your cup final likely starters a run out today and rest them on Tuesday ?

I've heard a rumour of Kenny moving back upstairs to a Director of Football role with Brendon Rodgers to come in a head coach.
Dhp

He may be a good manager but he is no way Liverpool standard and if Kenny does step down then we should move forward and not backwards

Liverpool are preparing the ground for a summer move for Rasmus Elm, after sending their top scout to check out the Sweden international, reports the Daily Mirror.

The 24-year-old AZ Alkmaar midfielder has been in scintillating form in the Dutch Eredivisie, scoring 12 goals and chipping in with numerous assists this season.

Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is keen to further strengthen his squad after a number of last summer's midfield signings made a slow start to life at Anfield.

Former Director of Football Damien Comolli is understood to have deployed Steve Hitchen to compile a report on Elm - one of the Frenchman's final moves before he was relieved of his Liverpool duties.

The Swede has been identified as a player to help alleviate the burden on the club's current crop of stars.

Elm has made 22 appearances for his country, and with a valuation in the region of £7million, will be well within Liverpool's transfer budget this summer, as Merseyside owners Fenway Sports Group prepare to plough more money to invest in the squad.

Ed is that a chance that suarez stays and we sign lavezzi? we are clearly looking for a wide left player as macca says we are interested in muniain {Ed023's Note - Yes we are interested but the player will be very hard to get as to why we are also watching other players. I doubt Lavezzi signs even if Suarez stays or goes.}

Right lads,
I've got the wet weather gear laid out.
I'm just doing a bit of research in to the driving, for the old sat nav. Make sure that you visit these places in Norfolk today :
- "The nasty, stinking sin hole of sin,
Which the map of the county denominates Lynn".

Lol, not a bad start. Here's further proof :
- "There was a young lady of Lynn,
Who was deep in original sin,
When they said 'Do be good',
She replied 'Would if I could',
And straightaway went at it again".

So, looks like a stop for an hour in Kings Lynn.
Next stops, you might try :
- "Cromer crabs, Runton dabs,
Beeston babies, Sheringham ladies,
Weybourne witches, Salthouse ditches".

There's something there for everybody ! Lol.
And finally, make sure you give a miss to :
- "Denton in the dale and Arborough in the dirt,
And if you go to Homersfield, your purse will get a squirt".

Lol. Have a good un lads. Catch you later, around Delia's pie stall.

Aqualini?

1 He doesnt want to play for LFC.
2 He is injury prone.
3 He is not very good.
4 He did not like the city of Liverpool.
5 He did not bond well with team mates

Please also read an interview he did in 2009 with GAZETTA DELLO SPORT.

He is a royal waste of space who shud never have wore the red shirt.

I disagree with the 3rd point. The guy has the ability to be a world class playmaker, but its a shame his poor attitude n work ethic have let him n the club down.

Jog on bell-end.
Everyone can easily see why Pep would choose LFC over Chelski.
Just have to wait and see if he decides to return to football after his break and what options are available to him.
Don't forget your plastic flags when you come to Liverpool South for the FA Cup final

What was the point of that? Why waste peoples time with such bland, boring nonsense?

Hi eds, heard we were the club that bid for Ramirez, do you have any information if this it true, also do you think suso or sterling might get a chance today in the game? cheers {Ed002's Note - It is an old story being recycled. I have no idea if either will play today.}

People need to stop goin on about rafa! We're short on goals this season shall we see if Rush will come back too? Your living in the past!

Kenny was the past a lot longer in the past than rafa so you didnt and dont want kenny as manager ?
soul man

Rafa's best was far superior to KD's best - Rafa's worst was never as poor as KD's worst!

Erm.........Rush was a striker and is too old to play these days.
Rafa is a manager and there's no real age limit for doing that job.
In fact you could argue that a manager gets better with age.

Kenny dalglish win percentage first 68 games - 49%
rafa's win percentage - 47%.
thats the only stat you can consider as that is how far kenny is into the job. the rest is irrelevant because kenny has never managed us in europe and rafa has never won the premier league or old 1st division.

It took 4 years for rafa to get his best kennys only had 18 months

gee man

But in those four year's gee man we were always in the CL!

The first year rafa concentrated on eoropean cup andrested players in the league and the following yearswe were in europe as well. go and have a look in the trophy room to see what rafa did for us . *****

hi reds and eds, i thought i would share a little rumour i heard last night...phone rings ,it's my mate billy.now billy works in the local tesco and this is what he told me.he had over heard my wife speaking to someone and apparently tonight she has a treat for me.she is going to let me watch the norwich game in peace and also a feast of food and fine ale would follow....wow i thought to myself.but the was more ..she had arranged for pep guardiola to prepare and serve this feast for me...i must admit i was starting to have my doubts ..but her parents do live in spain , so it did seem plausible.but the was yet still more .....as soon as pep has packed his apron away she is going to give me a night of passion that i will never forget.....to be honest it took i while to sink in ...then the penny dropped..........night of passion my arse....dont you just hate silly rumours...dave d

I think that's just a load of bull, I for one know your wife shops at Asda and not Tesco,
Ha trying to fool us all with that one...

Post of the day... Quality

Those who want Henderson and spearing out are simply insipid. Henderson, when played in central mid, he puts in a good shift. Spearing's natural position is not defensive midfielder, it's cm, but as its take. Up by shelvey and Henderson, he is playing in that position( you a lot should be thankfull that we have him as I recall a certain someone didn't want to play on the right under rafa) he plays with heart and determination. He will come good, he is only 23. Henderson is the best u21 midfielder, excluding wilshire, shelvey is an cam. And you need to realize that the reason Henderson is played ahead of shelvey is because he is not ready. Hendo plays ahead of him in the England squad. Our future midfield is bright.
AnfieldUSA

I agree mate. i simply dont get why henderson gets so much of criticism. Along with shelvey, hendo n suso, we cud have one of the best midfields in europe. 3 different players with different attributes. Future does look good.

Thank you for the support mate!

For those daring to dream about Pep joining LFC, I put forward these thoughts to ponder.
1: Has Pep left Barca, as he has realised that the other top teams have worked out how to beat them, as he adopted a very 'inflexible' one style game of play, that is wonderful when it works, but there is no alternate style at all!.
2: Barca players are small and nippy, does this mean many in the current LFC squad would not meet the criteria!.
3: Would many people expect LFC to go out and buy Barca type players, and sell those who are not suitable, so as to 'play like Barca' does.
We are not copycats!.
Do you think FSG would be mad enough to sell all and buy new!.

Granted Pep is a good manager, but I believe his style would not suit the English game and would be a disaster to adopt.
So in closing, I ask why would you want Pep as manager.

...it was never on the cards, lets forget it, although I do agree with what you've said.

dd

I remember reports from last year that this was his last year anyway!

Pep can attract a lot of big name players. More so than any other manager.

ed inform me if im wrong. but the euro's (U19) start early may. as suso himself has said. aswell he is in spain at the moment. technically would that not rule himself out for US for the rest of season? just to clear that up... and is sterling the same thing? like euro wise, not visiting family in spain? :) thanks JLFC {Ed002's Note - The fixtures will be over for teh Reserves.}

Hi Eds and Reds,

Just gonna have my 2 cents on the whole Guardiola saga, the man has achieved an incredible amount for such a young coach, no one can argue that, massive respect to for that. I think he is also to be graduated for walking away from football now and taking an indefinite break rather stay on with Barca or another club and put his physical and mental health at risk. I ve seen some posters say offer Guardiola 30 million in the summer to come manage us, seriously the man is bigger than and realises money ain't everything.

Of course I would love to see him at LFC in a years time if Kenny Daglish decided at the end of next season things are not working out the way the should be, however I can't see it happening realistically.

But I want to put this out there, see what people think, say if Arsenal were to go another season without a trophy and were to CL football again, I think Guardiola would be an ideal replacement for Wenger. There is reasoning behind my thinking, they both like to play the same type of football, they both like to bring young players through the ranks,okay Guardiola got a shed load of cash at Barca, but I think if this was to happen, Wenger would take up a Director of Football role, but you would have to say in this scenario Arsenal would be a very attractive option for Guardiola.

I think Daglish should be giving another season ,IMO I would love to se Hiddink, proven winner.

People say Guardiola inherited his squad and that which is fair point but Xabi was on his way out the door and what became of him? He formed one half of the best midfield partnership that anyone is likely to see in this lifetime

He didm't inherit his squad. He dismantled the squad he took over and created his own.

I'm saying this for a lot of fans I know Kenny has done a lot for the club but he's brain works in funny ways with he's different teams selections he's wired press and after match interviews I'm dreading the game Tomoz because you just don't know what's going to happen yeah he's got us to two finals but the last wasn't are greatist football iv ever seen we looked pike a championship team we need a manager to ship this once great team and I said once because we are rubbish at the mo back to that team three sessions ago were we was fighting for 1st not who beats who to 6th and 7th I support Liverpool because they know how to fight for every single thing that came in there way but now I'm scared to put them in my quick slip think its time to say good bye Kenny and to all players that think we are a walk in the park team this is Liverpool and we need to start winning again before we turn to nothing but a let's fight for 8th this year my bit said !

Fully disagree

The respect kenny is showing aqua saying that he would be happy to have him back is amazing...but its dissapointing that aqua will show no respect back to the club who have had to deal with his $hit for years, truly disgusting attitude from him...ed's do you still think that he'll leave.

KingMiz {Ed001's Note - if we can find someone to take him he will.}

Buy
Gaston Ramirez-18m
Soldado- 25m
loic remy- 20m
sell
Kuyt-10m
aqualani-12m
and KK takes a step back and rafa benetiz coach, then we will be set for the season.
sorry for spelling

It's not the spelling it's the utter crap you've writin!!!
Kp

Sell Kuyt and Aquilani fine, but £10m & £12m extremely optimistic. Would think nearer £3/4m for Kuyt and we will probably end up effectively paying someone to take AA.

U must be on drugs if u think we will get 10mil for kuyt and 12mil for fatty!!!REALLY

Kuyt will fetch 1-2m not 3-4 and certainly not 10
