Will fellow reds get off Aspas's back! He hasn't really had a fair crack of the whip yet, has he? He would've scored the Allen chance, perhaps.
Get of Allen's back too. Us here slating him won't do his confidence any good will it?
Maybe supporters are changing from my day, but fellow reds the title says it all ' supporters!', here to support,, come rain, shine or snow.
keep the faith. I can't believe some fans criticise Rodgers. believe it or not, we are still 'work in progress' and in January, when he brings in a midfielder/winger we will surprise our fans by the look of things.
P.S. Bigger and better players than Allen have missed easier chances, so lighten up!

YNWA

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Spoken like a true fan. We support our players UNTIL they have proven to b unworthy of that support. Aspas was great in preseason and Allen was our best midfielder (to the point of outplaying Yaya Toure which is no laughing matter) first three months of last season. They need support and opportunities and not stupid abuse from fickle fans

Agree0 Disagree0

I know that he's done sweet FA so far, but I like Aspas. I also think that when he gets a run of games we will see why we bought him. Once again, shame on the Xbox generation.

M'villa was at the match because sakho invited him

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He and those guys with him were also at the training ground though. It's one thing inviting your friend to a game, it's another bringing the whole possy to Melwood. Especially when three of them have nothing to do with football. It's all but done anyway.

''Fact is stranger than fiction''. Unbelievably, considering their result today, the last post on the Man City page was Oct 23.I'm glad i'm a Liverpool supporter, its always lively on here!

I was a bit worried yesterday when we drew. My man u friends were starting to get excited about getting into the top 4, when r they going to realise Moyes only knows how to stay in the premiership. As for AVB, o dear o dear. There should be some sort of exam before your allowed to spend a 100 mil. Next week will be interesting Spuds v Man poo. Is the poo going to fertilise the spuds or will the spuds keep rotting. I was going to watch a comedy movie, the Sups and poo banter page is far more entertaining.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Moyes is a choker and that`s all he`ll ever be. They were lucky to draw because Rooney (again) should have been sent packing for that kick out. Again a ref choking on his responsibilities. As for spurs, I knew this would happen. I posted earlier that selling your best player and replacing him with players who are not even close to being up to his standards is suicide. That`s why I was elated that we somehow kept Suarez. No amount of decent players can replace what ONLY he can do on the field. Spurs are not even out of the woods yet because things could get worse b4 they get better. Good luck to them because they`re going to need it, big time.

Nice to see that Spurs are finally reaping the results which their performances have deserved!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Wow, we haven't played Man City yet and with the shocking midfield we have which was overrun by Everton should we really be saying spurs are soo bad? Maybe let's wait to see how we get on, Arsenal tore us apart so do we really believe Man City won't with this shocking midfield? .

Agree0 Disagree0

Talking sense Mcgoveb.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Nov 2013 07:57:33
Nonsense.
We haven't played City and we would play well better than spurs horro show.
We were outplayed by everton who ripped chelsea and others this seaosn and are above UTD and Spurs on Merit.
It would take justa magic from suarez or sturridge to reflect the scoreline and I strongly believe we will come with atleast a draw from WHL,
City are an excelelnt side, But If we keep Yaya Quiet we would play well.
Aguero is on fire, So as Sturridge and Suarez.
If we win the next 3 games, we would be scond or first in the table before playing CIty.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said Mcgoveb but I don't think we will get beaten by 6 goals. I enjoyed seeing AVB face after the 6th goal.

Rodgers has signed 10 players during his tenure including 4 defenders, none of which started yesterday. In fact only 2 of Rodgers signings started yesterday, 1 of which looked lost against a 19 year old in mid and missed a sitter at a crucial moment in the game. Subbed in the end. I think your all disillusioned if you think this guys a good manager. He plays around in the £10 mill market wasting millions. Suarez will go at the end of the season and the old guard are getting older. God help us when we field a team of Rodgers signings.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Deluded much?

Agree0 Disagree0

So which team do you support? Cause it clearly isn't Liverpool pardon the rest of us for being optimistic about our chances cause we have been playing well I guess you see one game and suddenly you've got us figured out. Its a good thing you're a just a random knob and not in sports at all cause you don't know rubbish about football.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sturridge and Cissokho would have both started if fit.

Bad post

Agree0 Disagree0

Great post Ozone. Like you say, let's stay positive and get behind the team. 2nd place after almost a third of the season. What is there to complain about.

Oh. whoops.

Agree0 Disagree0

Seriously ozone?

After all your negativity last season, we find ourselves 2nd in the table, with the mancs having a shocker of a season, were playing some lovely football, and some of our nearest rivals are struggling.
What will it take for you to be happy?

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheer yourself up lad and have a look at the spurs and manc pages. and we thought you were negative!

Agree0 Disagree0

Suarez also missed a sitter and he's a forward.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Nov 2013 18:24:39
Nothing ever dampens your optimism does it Ozone.

And by the by, next time you rant do the calculations twice alright!

Allen = 1

Allen and Coutinho = 2

Allen, Coutinho and Mignolet = 3

Agree0 Disagree0

Aspas - injured
Cissokho - injured
Sakho - played (out of his skin) full 90 on international duty

How do you think Countinho played? Sturridge? Mignolet?!

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Nov 2013 18:28:27
"In fact only 2 of Rodgers signings started yesterday"

Arithmetic is not your strong point is it? (hint: Coutinho, Allen and Mignolet are 3 players)

Let's take a greater overview of Rodgers' signings shall we instead of just doing an (inaccurate) head count of one game?

Allen: Okay, I'll hold my hands up here. This guy hasn't delivered.
Borini: Neither has this guy.
Coutinho: £8.5m for a player who must've won us at least 10-15 points last season. Just wait until he hits form this season.
Sturridge: £12m. Scores in nearly every game. Terrible signing, clearly.
Aspas: Won't do it in the PL, imo. Would've been as well to hang onto Borini rather than let him go on loan.
Mignolet: Not 100% convinced yet, but he looked the part yesterday.
Toure: Not put a foot wrong since signing on a free.
Sakho: This guy will be a top class centre half for many years to come, imo.
Illori: Not played yet.
Cissokho: This guy's one dimensional going forward, but he's hardly terrible either. Also he is a loan signing.

So out of those 10, the only one who's complete dead rubber as far as I'm concerned is Aspas. And I reckon Borini won't do it for us either.

That's not exactly awful is it? However keep frothing about how terrible Rodgers is in the transfer market.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good to see you mentioned us being in second place.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well I counted three Rogers signings that started yesterday Migs Allen and Coutinho, Sturridge would of started if fit and we always struggle following an international break especially when 10 of the 11 starters were away with their countries

Agree0 Disagree0

You're joking right? Slamming his signings but what about Coutinho, Sturridge, Sakho, Mignolet, Toure? Or are they conveniently the 'committee signings'? You're disillusioned if you are incapable of seeing what Rodgers has done. I hope that when we get back in the Champions League you have the self-respect not to celebrate because you don't deserve to

Agree0 Disagree0

Actually 3 started - mignolet, Allen and coutinho. Sturridge would have started if fit so that makes 4. If we had CL football then we would have attracted better players but that's where we are. Sahko will get more chances. Llori and Alberto for the future and need time. Toure was on a free and has done well enough. Moses and cissoko are on loan (luckily for us). Aspas and borini are big let downs. BR is also getting the best out of Henderson and has done wonders with Sturridge and coutinho.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice to have you crawl back after a draw Ozone, it's quite comedic how ya babble on.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ozone if you are going to have a whinge, which you are entitled to, at least get your facts right. Including loans Brendon has signed 15 players for a total of £95M. Of these 3 started yesterday, Mignolet, Coutinho and Allen and 2 more of his signings Sturridge and Moses came off the bench.

I do agree that not enough of Brendan's signings are 1st team starters, yet, but you cannot deny that we are improving as a team. I think Sakho, Ilori and Alberto will have a big impact at LFC. Aspas needs a little time to settle, Yesil is one for the future and Toure has been a fantastic signing. Moses is also a good addition to the team.

Sahin didn't work out, I don't think Assaidi was really a BR choice, I'm not sure Allen has the mentality to play for a big club even though he has the technique and I have to say, early as it is I don't rate Cissokho.

In summary Brendan has definitely improved the 1st team, we have more depth and some great young talent for the future. We still need to add quality and improve which I'm sure we will, but not every signing is going to work out. But remember we are 2nd! Be happy.

NRed

Agree0 Disagree0

Thought Allen played well yesterday and was subbed because of his yellow card and the fact he hasn't played much you do know that Lucas was subbed aswell.
and Rogers signing Sturridge scored the equalizer and has kept us in touch at the start of the season by scoring when no one else was.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ozone,

So looking at it another way, Rodgers is such a good coach he's getting a team to play well where other more experienced coaches failed.

Agree0 Disagree0

Look at it any way you want and try to convince us all how poor out players are but the fact if Everton played that well against any other team in the league they would of won. We grabbed a draw. I don't even think arsenal with how good they've been would of got anything more than a draw. Cheer up and stop sulking u miserable old git

Agree0 Disagree0

That is the most ridiculous post I've ever seen on here. Migs coutinho and sturridge have been revelations - real good business.
We're having our best season in four years, with a real chance of top 4.
Please, please get behind the team, have your inquest in May if you wish.

We are Liverpool.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ozone, rooting for failure is bad for your mental health because the more points we win, the less mentally stable you will become. I suggest you think happy thoughts about lfc instead of losing your mind and talking utter trash when we win, lose or draw.

Tough game yesterday, great for the neutral, I'm sure. Looking at the table and the games running up to the silly season, I think it's going to be a tough and tight fight to get into the top four. Hull away next and then Norwich and West Ham have to travel up to Anfield and we should be able to claim maximum points before we have 4 tough games in the space of 15 days, going to Spurs, Cardiff at home then back on the travels to Man City and Chelsea. This is going to push the squad and give the lads a real litmus test. Just hope we can stay fit and keep the pace on.

Could be worse, could have AVB as our tactical decider. ;)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We need at least 7 points from these games to have a chance at surviving those four games. Let`s all phope for the best.

So spurs couldn't find the six, last minute penalties needed to rescue the point.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Nov 2013 16:02:16
Dembele anyone? Strong, quick, has a good engine, could play well in a 3 man midfield with lucas and Coutinho?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd love him, but not sure Spurs would sell to us being such close rivals. He'd probably cost a lot anyway, and perhaps wouldn't be Rodgers' type of player. Wish we'd just bought him from Fulham myself!

Agree0 Disagree0

Love dembele, how he's not in the spurs team baffles me. Cheeky £15m bid may get him.

Agree0 Disagree0

He will be in the team he ain't going anywhere and 15million get real 25 may tempt them but I'd rather witsel myself

Agree0 Disagree0

I would have Dembele in a heartbeat.

Agree0 Disagree0

Same here but spurs probably think they can get £40m for him after extorting Real like they did.

What's that Spurs fans? They still probably think they'll finish above us. HAHAH!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Haha and they even thought they were title challengers.

Agree0 Disagree0

I guess when you can only score penalties to win games this is what you get when the ref doesn`t give you any. I guess nobody told spurs that scoring from open play is the fundamental goal of attacking football. Passing it around with no penetration, tactical discipline or ingenuity is useless.

Spurs lovers seem to have gone quiet on here. 100 million equals victory!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And to think that some "fans" wanted us to buy Soldado, Eriksen, Lamela and so on and sell suarez for peanuts to Arsenal. How`s that working out atm? Suarez is scoring for fun like last year and all those players are struggling at a clueless club with a coach who thinks he`s better than he actually is.

Hi guys,

just got a quick question, may seem dumb because I think I may be the only one who doesn't know but Ed002, how come you address Mamadou Sakho by the nickname "Kirikou"?

Sorry if I'm missing something stupid haha. {Ed002's Note - It is the name he uses when plumping the cat.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ed002 what happened to sterlings cat? {Ed002's Note - There wasan incident at the salon.}

Coutinho opened his account; fighting back from 3-2 down with only mins to go; Sturridge breaking his mini goal drought, still 2nd in the league and 3 points ahead of the bitters. all-in-all, I'm happy. Martinez, you ain't got class

Believable0 Unbelievable0

BR needs to work out his best CB pairing as we gave away poor goals. That and a couple of signings (1CMF and 1 AM / Forward) in Jan and we should be good for the rest of the season.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Nov 2013 11:13:02
I just want to say how good was Flanagan yesterday? I'm sure that a few eyebrows were raised - as we're mine - when they saw the team selection, but the lad had a great game, both attacking and defending. Compared to his performances last season, he appears to have made great strides forwards. I hope he keeps it up, as he was possibly one of our most consistent players yesterday.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Nov 2013 11:04:36
Glad we put that M'Vila rumour to bed. He's average at best. I'm not sure we need a defensive midfielder as a Jan priority, we have Lucas and Allen can slot in if he's not available. We all know now that Allen is not suited to a more advanced midfield role, but I think he can break up opposition attacks and do the dirty work quite well.

Would go all out for Matic or someone else at that level. Monster of a player.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You are not sure we need a dm?really

Did anyone watch the Madrid game?

How did Suso get on?

I, like many others, can't wait for him to come back next year with a full season under his belt ready for the first team.

Hopefully he will continue to progress every game. All the reports I read about his time in Spain are glowing.

Go on lad!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yeah I watched it.

He played well. Always looking to get on the ball and provided threaded passes. Also pressed very well off the ball. It's clear he will do well in a more possession-orientated team.

He was being played from the right and drifting in on his left. His weakness is that when playing in the position, he should be getting in the box more, especially when the left winger has the ball and is looking to cross in. His tendencies are to drift to just outside the area and as a consequence Almeria didn't have enough players in the box.

Mind you, he's only young. He'll improve a lot while he's out there. {Ed001's Note - he is under orders not to charge into the box, to be fair. That is the way they are instructed to play, to restrict the chances of getting caught with a counter, rather than to increase the chances of scoring. It is that European ideology of playing not to lose, rather than playing to win.}

Agree0 Disagree0

It was a strange game for him. He was generally quiet in open play. I got the impression that some of his team seemed reluctant to pass it to him when he was in an open position to receive the ball and rather tried to go it alone or try a more adventurous pass. Real Madrid played particularly well tbh. However he did have a couple of excellent free kicks which his teammates had enough confidence in him to allow him to take. His overall workrate in the game though did disappoint me. He seemed to allow much of the game pass him by and would probably need to work a bit harder off the ball. That would probably be his biggest fault as far as Brendan Rodgers would be concerned, well I was anyway and i'm not the manager lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers chaps

Agree0 Disagree0

Well put, Ed 1. That is why I greatly applauded BR for his substitutions yesterday because he treied to win the game which I like. It`s a welcome chang from the rafa years where he often played not to lose especially against the lesser teams. Hence, the high amount of draws we had especially at home.

Agree0 Disagree0

Someone asked yesterday if anyone remembered the previous 3-3 draw in a derby .

It was on 4th January 1930, bitterly cold day, we were 3-1 down until the 70th minute, our equaliser was scored by Jimmy McDougall .

McDougall went on to captain Scotland and finished his career at South Liverpool .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yeah I remember it well, bloody freezing it was

I know the DM question has been raging for a while, and it is something I think needs attention. Now M'Villa was at the game, as Sakho's guest, don't rule him out but don't twist too many innocent facts into fortunate hopes.
There are 2 decent DMs in our league at clubs that we could buy from. Personally I like Scheiderlin but I know Southampton have no need to sell and he would be unlikely to want to move.
The two players I have watched are Tiote and Fer. For me I wouldn't go for Tiote, I dislike the idea of losing any player for most of January for the African Cup of Nations and that rules him out for me. Fer is at a lower club who are struggling and shows all the abilities of a good DM who can also get forward when the situation allows. He nearly joined Everton but for a problem with the medical of something. Surely he would be able to offer good competition to Lucas but whilst also offering a stronger depth to CM?
Not saying were interested or anything, just saying he's a decent player who could definately improve us.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Tiote cannot pass the ball, is ill disciplined and goes missing in games. Don't know why everyone rates him so highly, definitely not the standard of player we should be looking at.

Agree0 Disagree0

Tiote is always an accident waiting to happen. I would like a guy like Sandro from spurs tho. Very good passer, gets forward and has a decent strike and doesn`t get needless yellow cards.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Nov 2013 08:35:23
Yann M'vila spotted in the Liverpool section of the crowd at the match yesterday. There just to watch the game or was he there for talks over a possible move. Ed002 you seem to be in the know. What's your take? {Ed002's Note - He was there as a guest of Kirikou.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ha, I'm guessing Kirikou is Sakho's nickname? Shame if there isn't any interest from us in M'Vila. Whilst he's had his issues in the past, his ability/potential isn't in question. He's exactly what we need in midfield {Ed001's Note - no he is not, he is not a good player from what I have seen. His ability is completely lacking every time I have watched him play. I would be very disappointed if we signed him.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hmm and how often have you seen him play Ed? Everyone's entitled to their own opinion but he's a class above Lucas. He was v.impressive for Rennes. The only reason he didn't end up at a top European club was because of his attitude problems. His ability isn't in question. {Ed001's Note - he is not even close to Lucas, typical of the 'supporter' that constantly degrades Lucas because he does his work where it is not seen. M'Vila is typical of the average player that gets hype in the media because they get caught out so much that they are seen on camera chasing back and making tackles. He didn't end up at a top club purely because he never made the grade, all decided he wasn't anywhere near good enough. Nothing to do with attitude problems at all, don't know where you got that fantasy bull from.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed is right. I`ve known Mvila since his debut at rennes and he is as overhyped as they come. He will never be in Lucas`s class because as ed said, Lucas is almost NEVER out of position due to his ability to read danger and snuff it out before it even happens. This is why you never see him tracking back and tackling because his sense of anticipation and intelligence is superior to almost any other in the league. He`s also a superb tackler. Mvila is a joke and that`s why he`s playing in russia because everybody else stayed away from him.

Agree0 Disagree0

So we will enter December second in the league with the next 3 fixtures in 6 days consisting of hull, Norwich and west ham. We are ahead of united, Chelsea, spuds and man city. If this was offered at the beginning of season we would have all accepted this with no questions. I know we need to take each game as it comes but surely 9 points should be gained from these games.
We have the 2 top scorers in the league, a top class keeper, a selection of top class centre backs (just need to find the best combination) and great energy in midfield. We just need more strength in depth in the full back positions and another top class midfielder hopefully acquired in January and we should achieve our goal of top 4. anything else is a bonus.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hull were beaten by Palace - I would not expect anything than an emphatic victory and the next two games are at home against out of form teams
Anything but 9 points will be unacceptable

Agree0 Disagree0

Its hotting up now isn't it!
You need 9 points to maintain a title challenge and 7 for top four contention from these games.
Its more about not dropping points in these games than beating close rivals that determines where you are come May.
9 points is very realistic for you of course but it has to be a minimum of 7.
Don't get me wrong its the same for us too I rate wins at Swansea and Fulham and not losing at WBA as every bit as precious as a win against a top 7 side.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Nov 2013 01:19:56
I think we need a few players to help push us the second half of the season. Another striker I think is needed, having 3 strikers might not be all that secure when you play with two strikers in the starting line up. Another creative midfielder is needed that is capable of taking a spot in the starting 11, as we need to score more from open play but we can't seem to get the final ball down. A physical defensive midfielder is needed and it looks like another fullback might also be needed in on loan.

Creative mid; Javier Pastor. Defensive Mid; Fernando Reges. Striker; Kostas Mitroglou & Jorge Fucile on loan (he plays both left and right back & another reason for Suarez to stay at least until the summer).

Around £30m-£35m for all of them could make money by selling a CB or Allen or Aspas. {Ed002's Note - Fucile will not be arriving on loan.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Nov 2013 00:41:36
Might as well comment on M'Vila.

Firstly if we did sign him then we might be looking for a replacement to Lucas as he will cost around £13m+.

Secondly he is like Sakho in terms of still having to adapt to the league and in terms of talent but he is very different player to Lucas.

But ultimately I think he was just there to check out a game as he wash't playing for his club and two who says he wasn't there for Everton? {Ed002's Note - He was there as a guest of Kirikou.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

M`vila can NEVER replace Lucas because Lucas is so superior to him, its not even funny. Trust me, I`ve known M`vila since his debut at rennes. Lucas is in the Brazil squad and as you know, slouches do NOT make the Brazil squad. He`s there for a reason.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Lucas is for me the best DM in the prem and top 5 in the world. His states for the past 3-4 seasons have been the most consistent for his position.

Plus BR has a major man crush on Lucas.
