Ed's are you still expecting an announcement from the club by the end of this month regarding the stadium issue ? Ie; new stadium, refurb anfield or extending time further ?
Cheers
Aussie red {Ed001's Note - something will have to be done, the Stanley Park timeline was only extended into this month. So they will have to extend that at the very least.}

Wouldnt be before time. However crucial part as we all know,is we get it right

Lucas is currently the best defensive midfielder in the league (FACT) by making more tackles and winning more 50-50's than any other player. Also and this is specia...l Lucas has lost possession only three, yes 3, times in 10 league games. Now again to put this into perspective, Carrick started one match and lost possession as many times as Lucas. Mikel and Song are the closest to him with 8 and 9 respectively. Next up is Karl Henry with 11, Parker with 12 and Tioté with 15. This is from a player that used to be an attacking midfielder...mmmmmm... I wonder if KK could turn Carroll into a world class centre back ;)

Lol hed still be b****cks, carol! sort your head out man, i believe in you but your making it so hard...

Carroll has turned into a world class statue.

Funny how everyone slated rafa when he played lucas exactly the sameway....I guess he was right !!

They didn't sate rafa for playing him in this position they slated him for playing lucas at all. He has matured into that position and it was a steep and harsh learning curve for him.

Kenny would have to get Carroll to move first

Top 4 striking solution - loan Tevez until the summer. Would never buy him, but he'd play with something to prove!

Worth 110,000 a week... we need this to combat Spurs - they are relentless and unless they get some injuries, I can see them getting a top 4 place...

No thanks. Good player but a spoilt, overpaid and disruptive prima donna

cozinoz

Oh, Dont you want Darren Bent anymore?

Go to bed Carlos.

I worked out that the team against Swansea cost about 148 m pounds. If we sold that team tomorrow we would get about 168 m pounds. My point is not that we would make a profit but that there is too much obsession about the price of individual players. Some increase in value and others decrease but it is the team as a whole that is important. Within the next five or ten years we will have a team that cost considerably less and is worth a lot more. Wait and see!

Evening folks. I'm a United fan. I just wanted to ask yous an honest question. Why do yous think Liverpool play better when you're the underdogs in games? Asking a few of my mates in the boozer yesterday, got a few different answers.

Mumbles

I think results in the past few years show we perform better against better, attacking teams than against bus-parking sides such as Stoke and Bolton.

cozinoz

It's nothing to do with us being underdogs, Mumbles mate. We've played well every game except the Spurs and Swansea games. We just need to take our chances, it's that simple mate. We are playing some good football at the momment but lacking an end product.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

...because tactics are different.

Teams in top 6 will usually try and attack us meaning Liverpool have to press the opposition more to get the ball and counter attack to get more space.

Teams who are usually lower down the league (with all respect to them) get men behind the ball. We also build too slow at at times and teams get 10 men behind the ball quickly. We then struggle to break them down.

The pressures is off fella and we end up playing freely whilst against the "smaller" clubs wer we expected to win we try to hard but whilst we creating chance after chance they start to panic and the preasure is too much
jayblair89

Its not just this year Blaire you've always played better against the bigger teams.

Take the year we pipped yous to the title, when yous where topping the table, yous played under pressure but when we went ahead of yous, yous played the great attacking football without fear.

I think the expectations weigh yous down immensely. Yous gonna do us a favour on Sunday?

Mumbles

Don't think it has anything to do with 'taking chances'. We not very good at that in genreral despite scoring both clear chances we had against Chelsea.
The problem in pressure. We don't deal with it well and haven't done so for a while. The players, particularly the younger ones and/or new sigings, tend to creak under the expectation of the fans (especially at Anfield), but then go on to play a stormer against the Man Utds and Chelseas of this world - I've learnt to get used to it and under Roy I always used to dread playing teams below us because the players were so low on confidence that they'd immediately collapse instead of giving it a decent go like nowadays.

I'm sure with time, however, these inconsistencies will be ironed out as confidence grows.

Martin

Martin

Becasue we switch formation to 4-2-3-1 or 3-5-2 become hard to read, players switch position freely and Maxi/Bellamy/Suarez are 3 very intelligent footballers that make the difference when playing counter-attack football. We also press from the start at pace and Lucas turns into a monster player. Maxi and Bellamy may not be the most popular players in the league but they are 2 of the best attacking wide man and when combined with Suarez and Enrique it makes for one very creative unit that is accurate and very level headed whilst providing a great deal of passion and quality. They are not Xavi, Iniesta, Messi but they are very effective at pass and move and have great appreciation for space, timing and team play. All eyes will be on Anfield at the weekend, I'm not sure we will win but I reckon we will run them very close. We spoiled Chelsea's unbeaten record and Utd's its now time for Suarez and co to show the rest of the EPL how far we have come and put on a performance to make the people proud.

Hate to say it but I agree with Gary Neville; we don't have the winning mentality that a game against a smaller club on saturday at 3 is just as important as a televised game against a top 4 side. It's a question of getting players with that mentality, having a winners' mindset around the training ground and signing young players who can have that sort of belief instilled in them

If we took our chances against Stoke, United, Norwich and Sunderland, Martin mate we'd be a lot higher than we are now. We dropped 7-9 points against these teams because we couldn't take our chances. I agree mate there is a bit of pressure, especially at Anfield.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Those characteristics have been there since Souness. Proud and committed against rivals, and then bricking it against lower teams. both stemming from the stature and history of the club and how certain players react. Its the same with opponents, Our rivals can be intimidated and smaller clubs may play out of their skins against the 'legendary' liverpool, . We havent been able to totally handle that since Dalglish was manager.
Dara D

You have to ask though Blair why we didn't take those chances? because there was pressure on the players to do so. We were expected to score and this piles the pressure on. Would help if someone besides luis was scoring and creating up front.

We have been struggling against smaller teams ever since houllier first took over.

Rewflo

'Rewflo'

Every manager we have had at the club since Houllier have been defensively minded and counter attacking. Against the top-teams this is ideal as they will attack us and we can catch them on the counter. Against the 'lesser teams' who play a more defensive/narrow formation and don't commit as many players to the attack, there is much less opportunity to catch them on the counter.

Against Chelsea we used these tactics by playing Maxi and Kuyt in the wide positions which made us very narrow and compact. Against the 'lesser teams' you need to be able to attack down the wings with width as well as through the middle, which is why I believe Downing was signed, an out and out winger. If we played the same team from Sunday against Swansea or Norwich at Anfield I think it would struggle as there is no natural width.

I think it is fair to say against these lesser teams we have created numerous chances which haven't been taken for one reason or another. I think it is about changing the mentality of the players which I think KK will eventually do.

JRG

Not all the time JRG, both rafa and houllier at times have had at least a season were we have scored plenty of goals. Someone can correct me if im wrong but when we finished runner up under houllier and rafa we scored plenty of goals, and played plenty of attacking football.

I didn't feel (recently) that against the lesser teams we were even half as good as against the likes of united and chelsea. I know you say the lesser teams just shut up shop but no team this season has been as negative as united were and that was one of our best games.

Rewflo

Im coming to conclusion a hell of a lot is the weight of expectancy, through our History. It isnt all that, but a lot is.And i include myself in wanting success so much! And as"mumbles",knows was the same for Utd for years. Its very hard to break that"duck".Mr.whinge

my thoughts on yesterday's game:

1. kk gave us the first eleven (almost our strongest, with the inclusion of gerrard) we've been clamouring for sometime now.

2. the tactics was spot on in the first half of the game before chelsea changed something but we managed to cope and react.

3. charlie adam played his best game for lfc.

4. skrtel did not put a foot wrong in the game( my man of the match)

5. i think our centre back combo is working really well

6. lucas was lucas again, breaking everything in his stride.

7. the combo of suarez, maxi, bellamy, and kuyt is the ideal partnership upfront; there was so much movement off the ball and on the ball. we could see them pressing chelsea defence. carroll and downing need to sit on the bench for some game and learn from the vets.

8. reina wonder safe kept us in the game.

9. kk's goal celebration will get him in trouble, he left his technical area for the two goals, encroaching chelsea technical area. i was laughing real hard.

10. without a doubt, enrique is the buyer of the summer for lfc.

11. we should start the same first eleven against man city.

12. carroll provided a great comic routine, he was just falling over.

good victory but am not carried away a bit because it is typical lfc, great against big teams, poor against minnows. we need to find consistency and it must start now!

Nigerian fan(tooblac)

Hmmm cant agree with 1, 11 or 12

I agree enrique has been your buy of the summer

Against City, we need to nullify Silva (big game for Lucas) and keep the game narrow - City like to spread the ball to their wide men and full-backs a lot, so if we stop them doing this we can take advantage of their weaknesses at centre back. I'd play:

Reina
Johnson-Skrtel-Agger-Enrique
Kuyt-Henderson-Lucas-Adam-Bellamy
Suarez

Terry manhandling Carroll by the jersey is him falling over these days, I guess. Poor Andy wasn't getting a damned thing his way from mister referee but he ran well for that short time he was in.

McSnuggles

Good post!

Reina
Johnson-Skrtel-Agger-Enrique
Kuyt-Lucas-Adam-Bellamy
carroll-suarez

just because carroll got two againt them last time

Great post tooblac

Plz explain 2me why so called fans on ere have 2slag off there own players!?if u support a club any club 4that mattter u should support the whole club which includes all players.slag off players helps no one.so stop cryin abt this player or that player &back ur whole club YNWA bertie b

Totally agree with those sentiments. Every player gave his all on Sunday yet their's still so called fans rippin one player or another. Just don't understand why after beating a team like Chelsea away we've still got posters telling K.K how it should be. If we keep defending like we are, solid as a rock a top 4 finish is well within our grasp. We just need to start being more ruthless when it comes to finishing all those chances we've missed. I'm convinced more then ever now that teams see us a threat more so then a few weeks ago. Also lets not let take anything away from the players and coaching staff for implementing a game plan against a good Chelsea team. I think that that that happened when we beat Arsenal. More emphasis was on how s**te they were rather then how we made em look ordinay and i think its happening again with the Chelsea result. Still amazes me that a team puts so much effort into gettin a massive result poster's still look to sgal up minor faults with a player instead of bein over the moon which was truly a massive result. Jonson

The only way you ever improve at anything in life is to look at what you do badly. Looking at the positive improves morale but you learn nothing. I think what people should do more is acknowledge both the good and the bad, instead (especially on here) one half the people are busy picking all the negatives and one half are blindly ignoring them.

A real critique would be to look at the performances holistically; give credit where its due and also see where we can improve. I'm fairly sure thats what Kenny and every manager in the world does.

Sense redflow.However,credit when due-excellent performance overall.Mr.Whinge

may i just say its a lucas leiva world we live in 80% domination!!

heres the stats

www.anfieldindex.com/4237/lucas-leiva-the-brazilian-against-the-world.html

A great link for anyone who doubts our Brazilian genius. "Lucas also had the most tackles of any player in any of the top four European leagues for the 10/11 season." - astounding.

Easily worth 25mil but to us priceless

21 Nov 2011 21:37:54
Has anyone thought the top 4 could include us and Spurs in it? Seeing as many are so sure the later will finish in the CL spots?

Yeah of course. Most people would say it's any two from Spurs, Chelsea, us and Arsenal for top 4, and I think it would be very unfair not to include Newcastle in that

Newcastle have only played city of the top teams and were beaten. I expect they will get much the same from united, arsenal, chelsea and us.

Newcastle drew 2-2 spurs at home, bob paisleys skids

21 Nov 2011 21:22:48
Just watched the end of yesterday's game on Chelsea TV and almost feel like killing myself. The analyst made it look as if Chelsea were by far the better team out there and in the end said that he had no problem losing to a good side, but when you lose to a POOR side you ought to be kicking yourself! I don't know who that clown is, but Chelsea was at home and dominated for some parts, but also were outworked in others. I am just glad Kenny finally played Maxi, Bellamy and Suarez together. I've been waiting for that since the brighton game. Now, let's hope we get a RW and ST in January.

Canadian Fan.

Dude, if you watched it on the chelsea tv channel then yep you'll get all the bias of the day. Bit like watching neville on skysports. Where in Canada mate?

Match of the Day 2 was the same though, I was reading on the text how we dominated first half but they only showed Chelsea chances apart from our goal

Lets stop with the Torres stuff! Lets worry about our own club support our own players! I worshipped him like he was a legend when he played for us we made him an icon but we were dumb. The lad is and always was a self obsessed idiot. He has no loyalty or respect for any fans.

* he left his boyhood club because they couldnt match his ambition(he has since won nothing at club level they have won the EUROPA LEAGUE and THE SUPER CUP)

* he left Liverpool cause he thought it was too tough to get the team to the top again,so again not a team player

* he turned his back on the KOP who revered him more than he deserved and walked out on Kenny at the 11th hour leaving LFC in a difficult position

He is not worthy of your time or thoughts he cudda been a legend he instead will be one of the countless football nobodies.

Dont Buy the Sun

I don't blame him for leaving athletico madrid. At the time he loved liverpool and was a great player. But life goes on and i think we are in a much better situation without him.But just because he is out of form and has left us the lad is undoubtedly a world class player.Whoever says different is talking utter nonsense.

Danny

I don't believe he ever loved Liverpool. Good luck to him but he only ever loved himself

He,s a jinx Chelsea will win nothing with him in their squad just like us and Atletico never won anything when he was in the squad,s

Maybe a short term cheap solution for a forward in jan to help out with the busy fixtures at xmas. Thierry Henry? There are rarely decent forwards at a reasonable price available in january so he could be a cheap short term solution that gets us into the top 4.

Waro

Making do with players is what we've done for to long , and its not good enough.
Id rather we bought our targets or not bother at all.
Good performance yesterday but just because certain players had a good game it doesn't mean the class all of a sudden.

LAVERS

Lavers

We have a fine squad and owners that are investing in the squad. Just be patient we have not been beaten for two months and have won at Arsenal and Chelsea. We are moving in the right direction. We have made some great buys and its a squad game now.

mighty reds

I don't see us buying anything at Xmas unless we have an injury crisis. What we've got needs to learn to start playing together before we chuck more players in the mix. If anything, if we have no injury crisis, I see players being released. Don't see that much different during the summer either other than out is more likely than in. There is very little 'talk' around the club of players being seriously looked at. RED LENIN

Don't think you understood my post, we might be looking for another forward in jan so rather than go for de jong etc for £20mil go for proven premier league quality for a couple of months rather than jump into a big money purchase. That's not having a go at any players or saying get rid of anybody, just think Henry could be a good impact player for a relatively small outlay (wages only).

Waro

Henry will be training with Arsenal, in the coming months Waro mate. Wenger said this and said that Arsenal will not be looking to resign or take him on loan. I agree mate Henry would be very handy.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

I happen to slightly agree with waro, getting a couple of cheap temporary proven signings hasn't hurt spurs! (Parker n Adebayor). It would help the squad and give us extra options.

His price was decided between abramovich and Newcastle? Abramovich doesn't give two s**ts about players of carrols quality. $50m for 5 goals in 27 is one way of looking at it. 4 goals in 4 games (2 against genk in champions league... U remember champions league boys don't ya?) confidence high. Only going to get higher, so I see it as quite logical to think when we play u boys with confidence high he has a good shot to get a hat trick... Your defennce is second rate after all. Sorry fellas your no longer a PL threat. Accept it. No need to drum on about your history as a response. Melbourne CFC

Is this person for real spouting on with such crap. Incase you dont know liverpool whooped your lot once again yesterday. Your either totally deluded or just plain foolish! Dont try and bring carrol into your pathetic letter when your ' star man ' is a total waste of 50m and as for were not a prem threat anymore you need to take a proper look at your old team so you accept that fool.

Im really not concerned what this tit has to say he really should be more concerned that cech actually turned out wearing his gimp mask major mistake for cech story to break in the news soon i would imagine. lol

Cech wasn't wearing a gimp mask yesterday mate, he had to make a hasty exit after the game yesterday as he had auditioning for 'The Phantom of the Opera'

i have watched a bit of Erickson recently and impressed with the lad, It's a bit difficult to say if he will be so effective in a league that is a little fast and more physical but what I've seen up to now looks good. Now if Stevie is back in Jan do you see him playing on the right for us? saving us haveing to buy in Jan, and theninvest in someone like Erickson in the summer. I think it is someone clever like this that we need to break teams down, we look good against teams willing to attack us but again this year when teams decide to defend deep we struggle to break them down.

There are a number of teams looking at erikson, he's already turned down man city & chelsea, the lads a spurs fan (442-interview I think it was, that he said who he supported), so I think if they come in for him as well he'll go there

At this moment I am a very happy and content Liverpool fan and having supported the club for well over 25 years I have been through the highs and lows of our great football family. We get all the so called new breed of fans wanting instant success and computer game style domination of the league on here whining, but from where I'm standing were doing ok. We are well within the shout of back in the top 4 and apart from a few dodgy results (which were not the only ones suffereing them) we are still well placed for a push. If you look at it with the exception of a poor showing against spurs we are competing with the teams in and around us and have a depth in the squad we have not had for years. We are playing attractive football (a little scary at times but thats just Liverpool) and considering the position and feeling amongst the fans and team last Xmas we are looking a completely different outfit.I am trying to think of something to complain about and all I can come up with is the new breed of fans who don't understand the Ethos and way this club is supported and followed. Not really banter but its my 2 peneth worth and its coming from a very content fan. Looking forward to a bright red future.
Carlos79

Well said Carlos79.I totally agree with you. I have supported LFC since 1971 and was privileged enough to have watched Shanks team grow into the fabulously successful team of the late 70's and 80's. I feel so lucky to have witnessed the King in his prime too.
These new young fans don't seem to realise that it took Shanks time to develop the ethos that was a grounding for all those years of success....it didn't just happen overnight. We now have a chance to bring that same aura back and if we stick together behind the team ,through thick and thin I believe we will triumph again. We don't need instant fans who want success yesterday....go and support City or Chelsea (actually maybe not Chelsea !) if you want to follow a team without soul. Support means just that...stick by your team !
Even in the glory years there were bad patches. Who remembers that dreary 0-0 at home with Brighton in the early 80's when the King was marked out of the game by Lawro. And didn't we throw away a cup final against Wimbledon? !
We all have down days, but be proud to support such a fantastic club that has real heart and soul. What other fans can have the same feeling of togetherness and unity with the players and club as we do when we sing YNWA. So, if you don't feel it and you don't believe, we don't want you, you don't belong.

Well said Carlos. I've supported them for mmmmm 49 years now and as long as they try on the pitch will continue to doe so...in fac can't see me supporting anyone else actually!
Iggypop

Well done Carlos - a wonderful display of common sense.

BOILED ONIONS

Thank you for the comments its good to know there are still fans out there who feel the same as me and not just the fans who jumped on the isatanbul band wagon. I have seen some great matches like you have said from the wimbledon final which was a great low point to the old european cup finals the classic mersyside fa cup finals of the mid/late 80's. The loss to arsenal that cost us the title in the last minute of the season. missing out on a treble when QPR knocked us out of the league cup semis and many more. As you rightly say success takes time Ol whisky nose was 1 game from being sacked an look how that turned out. This is why I love liverpool our ethos has always been stand by the club players, managers , board and everybody else who is willing to give there all for us. This is why I pity the Chelseas and Citys because there fans and players will never give or feel the same support and togethorness we all feel. The way the club is going at the minute is the way it should be and as every fan knows if you cut kenny in half there is a liverbird running through his body. I like most fans will support him through thick and thin because he has single handedly done more for our great club than 1000 sheiks could do. Marching onward togethor and maybe soon some of these young fans will taste the same success, pride and passion I have been privelidged to taste over the last quarter of a century and beyond as a Liverpool Fan through every feeling and emotion.
For all those who feel the same we all know You will never walk alone.
Carlos79

Great post Carlos 79. Words of wisdom, and thoughtful analysis. I have been a Reds fan for 36 years, and I am totally thrilled with all that KK has done, his passion for and love of LFC. In KK we have the best manager for our beloved club. Long may the King reign!
Shankly's Red Army.

The reason that modern fans think this way Carlos is because they look at united and arsenal (late 90's early 000's) and see them dominating. You might say that those teams were built over time and you'd be right. Then those modern fans looks to chelsea of not to long ago and now city. A team CAN be bought and changed to be a winning team in less than 3 years. Then they look at our team...and are actually surprised when you tell them liverpool used to dominate this league.

I was speaking to a young fan a couple of weeks ago and for his entire life Man utd have been the dominant force in england, the instant success they want is just a result of being so desperate to have what the other top teams have all had in the last 20 years. Try not to be too harsh on the youngsters, their heart is in the right place.

Just watched the highlights of yesterdays win and have to say the biggest thing to stand out for me was the fact that Andy Carroll came on as sub with somebody elses legs. He must have done because he had absolutely no control of the ones hanging out of his shorts.! This guy is always labelled as a target man, strong boy etc.. give me a break, he wins about one tackle in five less than that with headers and his ball control is a disgrace
No doubt I will get the normal response from the blind faith supporters but surely even they must be starting to see he's pants?

Matt b

He still seems a lazy player who never even attempted to get the ball when he come on, Torres made more of an effort Carrol did

MJ

Cheer up da h**k some of you are never happy we won,
k-h

We are happy we won we are not happy that Carrol seems unable to run after a ball

We all know how people feel about him at this stage you guys feel the need to remind us every week tho and how long was he on the pitch 4mins or so dont think polsoun got as much stick as carrol does.
k-h

Listen, stop with all this give him time rubbish. He`s a bloody footballer (supposedly) who should be able to do the basics wherever in the world he touches a ball. He can`t do the basics let alone anything a bit special, If he was doinga proper job he would have been fired a long time ago.! Would you be happy to employ a Plumber (no offence intended) if he performed so poorly for 18 months?
I expect him to do his job, no more. I don`t care about his fee at all but I expect him to be competant at what he`s employed to do, can you honestly say he does that?
Matt b

It shouldn't be funny that our 35 million man looks like frank Spencer on the pitch but I really did laugh at some of the stuff he did. Just glad we won or it wouldn't have been so comical.

Matt b by my reckoning the lads still got 10 months or so to prove himself then. Happy days :o)

Pegleg

K-h Carrol has been with us for long enough to have sorted his fitness out and to figure out how to fit into our system of play, If Suarez a foreigner from another continent can just come to LFC and be the best player every time he's on the pitch surely Carrol can master running after a ball

MJ

MJ i agree he needs to get his finger out but you cant say we havent seen glimpses of how good he could be,
hes not Suarez he is in a class of his own if Carroll didnt have that price tag hanging over him would you be as critical and that isn't his fault.
i agree he really needs to prove his worth we all know that but banging on about isn't going to change anything.
k-h

AC came on with a lot of confidence in his movement but just looked a little bit shaky on the ball. If the team can continue with the confidence they had yesterday, Andy is sure to follow. He will come good!

Myk

I do see your point k-h and i dont normally pick on players and accuse them of being useless but he just angers me and many other fans by the fact he just looks like he cant be arsed MOST of the time, I want him to be an amazing player for us i really do but i just had to vent my frustration Thats all mate

MJ

He wears a Liver bird on his chest and as long as he runs for every ball and puts his heart into every challenge, hes ok by me and that goes for every player who is lucky enough to pull on the shirt.
I don't remember crouch getting this abuse just lots of love and support as he went 4 months without a goal.
Carlos79

People saying we wouldn't be so critical of Carroll if he didn't cost £35 million are wrong. Voronin was free and we were just as critical of him. Perhaps the Liverpool fans who were lucky enough to see some league success are happy enough with average players and no success, but as a fan who has never seen us lift the premier league trophy even though I've been a fan for a long long time, I'm only satisfied with players that are good enough for this illustrious club.

The Economist

You guys rubbishing Carrol are idiots! Each game you guys rubbish a new player. There was Henderson (who you now love), Adam (who you now love), Carra (who you have now forgotton) and even for a bit Suarez. You guys need to get over the fact that players will not play their best every week, especially with fans like you rubishing them. And if you don't remember all that be cuz your to thick read this. Carrol is young and left alot of things he loved to come play for us and he has scored some magnificent goals and helping Suarez at the same time.
GOD

I'd like to know what any player can do coming on at 88mins into the game when the opposition are chasing it?? disgraceful original post!

leave him be, let him develop under kenny and co and enjoy the fact that our club is on the rise and finally 'not dependant' on our talisman captain.

Spot on GOD and poster above, lay off him.
KiwiRed

This post so transparently distinguishes the fans from the supporters. Keep it up, big Andy - we're behind you for as long as you wear the liver bird

cozinoz

It doesnt make you a bad supporter to poi t out a glaring fact that hes not the player we thought we where getting, the thing is not to be foolish and persist, that's been our problem in the past, just man up and say ok that hasn't worked, let's try something new.

So to be a true supporter you are to never criticise any player ever? Ridiculous. Imagine if Kenny took that approach and never told a player when they played badly. If kenny can say it and agger can say it and Stevie G can say it then so can any one of us since its our support and money which makes this club exist.

Has anybody seen that video clip on BBC Sport website, of the American Footballer tackled by his hair!
The defender, or whatever you call them over there, grabs this fella's dreadlocks as he's in full flight and about to touchdown, and drags him down.
And it wasn't an illegal challenge. Lol.
Carra's gonna play tomorrow night I reckon, and Drogba too. I'd like to see JC have a go at that tactic.

Yeah in the NFL a player's hair is considered fair game when they are being tackled, always seemed a bit strange to me as well, but we also call it football when only one maybe two people on a team actually touch the ball with their feet.

I have to say, I'm genuinely impressed with the progress Jonjo Shelvey is making.

Thanks,
Hooch.

Me too, and I was a none believer in him, could have a great player in the ranks when he comes back

He`s playing at his level which is why he looks OK, no way near a starter for LFC.
Matt b

^^^ Fair comment i would of liked to of seen him loaned out to an epl side. Just to gage what he is like after a good run of top flight games. All the best.

KNEE JERK

Hes better than jay spearing and better than henderson and cleverley was at his age and is doing better than ramsey when he went out on loan at the same age. so tell me he hasn't got potential... and no one can disagree with me in this because the proof is there for you to see.

i'd like him to finish this season at blackpool then next year go out on a season long loan to a prem team that will give him playing time. that will get him ready to replace gerrard.

I completely agree. I was perplexed that we sent him on loan and then bought extra midfielders (though in retrospect due to gerrards injury its a good job we have adam) when we could've given Jonjo some valuable playing time this year while we are in process of rebuilding.

I thought he'd done well when he played last year and got a bit unlucky with his injury just as he came into form.

Just reading the Daily Fail's article on Man City's potential new deal with Umbro and it says our deal is Under Armour. I thought it was Warrior who would provide the kit from next season.... {Ed002's Note - It is Warrior so assume an error.}

I read the same in another paper. Funny how both papers could get it wrong.
Looking forward to seeing the warrior kit, just hope it's not too American if you get me.

The reason for yesterday's win is our formation and team selection. AVB expected us to play with Hendo, Downing. He might not have thought of Maxi and Bellamy to start. So his tactics were wrong. Second half they change tactics and started stronger but they were tired and cant dominate throughout and we win. The point is it shows the genius of King. But we must not get carried away. We must become more consistent and still we can have an eye for third spot. Lets hope for the best.

I expect pretty much the same team to be played against City, but then a total change against Chelsea for the Carling Cup game.

21 Nov 2011 15:32:49
I had to laugh when Glen Johnson was named man of the match yesterday. Seriously it totally undermines the adjudicator and questions their ability to grasp the concept of football.

First half he was compact, reserved and attacked down the wings as and when he needed to.

Second half he allowed Malouda to look half decent and that takes some doing. In fairness to Johnson Kuyt exposed him a tad, yet the warning signs were there before the equaliser. Johnson allowed Malouda time to control the ball, turn and run at him time and time again in the second half. This gave Cashley Cole the signal to go gung ho down the outside and give Johnson a headache as too what he should actually do.

He did the classic. Caught in two minds and in no one's land on too many occasions. The goal was absolutely awful to concede. Firstly Johnson backed off Malouda, Kuyt didn't track the run of Cole, Johnson allowed Cole to distract him which meant he just backed off and backed off, then for some brain dead reason, decided to half cover Cole's run whilst backing off Malouda. If it weren't for the stand I think Johnson would have continued down the Fulham Road!

That said and although he was bloody awful in the second half, what a great goal he did score, however that doesn't automatically signal he should be playing right side of midfield. He needs to be full back to come from deep as you cannot pick up those kind of runs. The run he made for the goal would not have happened had he been right side of midfield as naturally he would have been expected to push up and support in any event, actually leaving the space for the full back behind him. Henderson did that fantastically well. Watch his movement inside, taking Malouda with him and distracting Cole, allowing Johnson the opportunity to smash and grab.

It is this element of full back work that Johnson does brilliantly, at times his defending can be suspect as Malouda showed and he's useless.

Still cheer up Ed002. Sooner or later no manager is going to want to come to Roman FC. On this subject I posted a little while back about the art of replacing players before it becomes obvious they are past their sell by date. The Liverpool way of the 70's and 80's had it spot on and they would ease players out whilst still at the top.

Chelsea now has an abundance of players well past their sell by date and by Christ is it now showing. Terry, Lampard, Drogba, Cech, Cole. These players should have been eased out 2 years ago at least. Drogba is fast becoming an embarrassment to the player he once was. He can't even dive properly anymore!

Bloody hilarious loved nearly every minute of the game yesterday apart from the 46th to the 87th minute!

Bob the Red

What do you expect when the person who gave him man of the match was Ratboy Neville!!! Not a clue!

Recoill1975

It was terry overlapping for there goal not Cole.

Drogba has given up diving, there is a new kid around who does it better, and more frequently.

I agree with 90% of your post Bob, barring this 'Second half he allowed Malouda to look half decent and that takes some doing'. Really don't understand that criticism, Malouda is a fantastic winger and I really don't understand why is so underrated, this is a guy in the last 2 years has scored 25 goals, I bet you couldn't find to many strikers with those sort of stats, and his 12 assists. Yes he does leave Ashley Cole exposed sometimes but I wouldn't mind too much if I am getting that sort of return. Just because he has turned past 31 doesn't mean all of a sudden he is a terrible player.

Glen Johnson had a hard night, but don't down play how good Malouda actually is.

Hell Ed,
I am not sure if Dalglish and Comolli will splash great amount of money in winter. I only assume that new commers will be in the team if someone leaves. Let's not get too excited about ex-players coming back (Torres,Xabi Alonso) as the club seems to be after young players. LFC needs a good playmaker - top target, even though they play quite well without Gerrard. They need a back up striker if Kuyt or Maxi leave as Carroll is not delivering. They won't sell Andy nor Suarez so they lack one, good, fast striker. A fast winger would do also but after getting so many midfielders I doubt they'll buy another one....They need a good CB too.
cheers
tom

I agree, people are getting far too ahead of themselves suggesting all these world class players are gonna join in January. Last January was an exceptional circumstance, but usually January is a very quiet transfer window. January 2009 saw only Maxi arrive on a free, 2008 saw no one signed for the first team, 2007 saw Martin Skrtel only, 2006- only Arbeloa, and so on. Last year was an exceptional circumstance and one we're not in this year. The big signings happen in the summer. For the winter, people need to stop getting so excited about the possibility for Lavezzi/Eriksen et al.

DP

Yeah but in those previous years we didn't have as much money as we do now

GuvTOB

Granted, but it's not like we're swimming in money now. As the Eds have pointed out, we're headed for a substantial loss and no one at NESV is an Abramovich-style multi billionaire that can just shrug that off. If need be, OK we could probably spend, but after the summer we've just had, I don't see it in any way likely that we'll go and make another blockbuster signing. It just wouldn't be a sound decision. We should, and no doubt will, see how our summer signings carry us for the season and then reassess in the summer, not in January.

DP

We have adam, gerrard, lucas, coady as traditional CM's. For playmaker role like just behind striker we have henderson, shelvey, suso where all of them are exceptionally talented and young. I expect at least two of them to make it at Liverpool.

What Liverpool need is a very good fast, trickier and flair winger to play either on right or left, and a good striker who have decent pace and knows where the net is. I expect maxi and kuyt to be sold next summer and then we will move for those targets. Regarding the names i think it pretty much depends on CL qualification.

Once bellamy is done we will have morgan ready to step up. And also sterling and silva to occupy substitute roles for wingers behind downing and new signing.
Slowly they can step into starting 11.

IMO our defense is set, just need two of coates/wisdom/wilson/sama to step up. Then we will have a good all round, well balanced team with mix of experience and youth that can compete for trophies. But i expect another season wait after this one to get it all together.

Thanks
Abhi

I disagree, I think we need a proper number 9. Carroll may yet come good and prove me wrong, I have yet to see him match the quality of the shirt he wears (even before he joined us). We need a fowler, rush, Torres. Player who can slam a goal in from anywhere at unlikely times.

Suarez is creative but I don't think he will be a 20 goal a season player. I see him more as a creative forward than a striker.

Going to stick my neck out here a little and am fully prepared for some strong rebuttals.......I saw Charlie Adam help create both goals yesterday but I also saw him struggle to track back several times and was the reason Malouda set up Sturridge for the goal. Lucas carried him in patches and if it wasn't for the poor finishing of Chelsea we could have suffered more. Bellamy and Maxi ran well, Henderson showed glimpses and Luis looked jetlagged towards the end. Still, a fine performance all round, great team effort and the way the 2nd goal was celebrated it looks like Steve Clarke and Kenny are bringing the squad closer together.

Charlie Adam was not at fault for Malouda's run to set up Sturridge. It is infact Dirk Kuyt's fault, Ashley Cole made a run around the outside that Kuyt did not track, this left Glen Johnson stuck between Malouda and Cole, which handed Malouda the space to run into and time to deliver a brilliant ball for Sturridge.

Adam was not at fault for the Chelsea goal if you watched it back both agger and Enrique were ball watchin and not picking up players hense why they scored.

Deliver a brilliant ball???????????

It was a horrible shot that was off target but Sturridge does what good goal poachers do and turned it in.

Chi-Paul

The problem with the goal was that Glen Johnson was stuck between two stalls, he was drawn to John Terry's run so couldn't close Malouda which gave Malouda space. If Malouda had got a better connection on the ball I doubt he would have beaten Reina. Agger and Enrique were asleep on the back post too.

Adam looked tired late in the second half, but so did most of the midfield and forwards. Adam along with Kuyt, Maxi Suarez and Bellamy ran down the Chelsea defence time and time again in the first half, not giving them a second, Adam's efforts paying off with the Maxi goal. Lucas sat back a lot more as he is expected to do, so it is not surprising he had more left in the tank than Adam at the end.

Lucas might not have pushed forward as much as adam but he covered far more width than adam did. Lucas has exceptional stamina and that is why he had more left in the tank.

Hi Ed, great site! Can't believe how much rumour and speculation is around all the time - even when we're nowhere near a transfer window - I admire your patience with so many repeated posts. Just wanted to say lots of rumours regarding the same names. I've an interest in the Russian League and am HUGELY impressed by a guy called Welliton who's at Spartak Moscow. Great player, fast, strong, and a REAL natural goalscorer. He's ace! Could be a real gem if we were to sign him. {Ed002's Note -

Well i must say it was a great performance by the reds yesterday. My point is i reckon charlie adam is growing into one of the best cm's in the prem and enrique one of the best lb's. Is it not a few months ago that many people on here were saying they are nowhere near good enough?. It appears some people are still doing the same with big Andy and Hendo to some extent. So i think we should cut Hendo some slack especially (england u-21 capt) due to the fact for most of the time he has played in his unfavoured position and for big Andy it's hard for him due to price tag obviously weighing on his mind and constantly being in and out of the team like a yo-yo. It seems some people have been listening to the s**t journo's and forgetting the main issue which is supporting them to better themselves as players and men at our great club. Come on fellow red men/girls let's get behind ALL the boys

Great performance yesterday, but one thing that really stood out and impressed me was Agger. It was great to see one of our Centre Halves bringing the ball out of defence for a change.
For far too many years we have seen our midfielders dropping into the back four and receiving the ball, effectively placing 11 opposition players between them and the remaining 7/8 Liverpool players.
Agger bringing the ball past the opposition forwards created so much space and more time for our receiving midfielders to get the ball and then look to play forward with 7 v 7. We have suffered so much in recent years by not having this ability at the back and it has been one of the reasons why we get ourselves closed down so easily.
(And before anyone starts no this is nothing to do with Carra, purely an observation on what we have missed and the problems it has caused us and the effects it had yesterday).

Irish Red Dog

Agger is by far 1 of the best cbs in the prem and u are ryt our mid did play to deep lets hope agger stops fit this yr

Dont forget our previous managers have been negative dating back Gerrad. All the best.

I have always said that Agger would be world class if it wasn't for his proneness to injury, similarly to Fabio Aurelio. Fantastic players when fit, arguably up there for top in premiership for their positions, but are too injury prone.

Well winning 2-1 down at the bridge is a fantastic result but strangely not a surprising one, not to take anything away from the players but something is wrong with Chelsea, maybe their spot in the Champions League isn't nailed on anymore.
I'll be honest i thought Johnson was a bit all over yesterday, or maybe Malouda just played well. If its right about it been in his contract that he can refuse to play RM surely he'd rather play there than not at all, i would have thought sitting on the bench would risk his England career even more so.
Roll on next sunday lets see if City are unbeatable.

By the way who else thought Drogba's free kick went in, i think even Pepe did.

Reds / eds
The world feels a kinder, nicer place after a win at Chelsea. A feeling that, somehow, there is something / someone spiritual in the Universe.
That good can triumph over....
Lol, I'm in a good mood anyway. Can you tell ?
What I like is the feeling that Kenny, Steve Clarke and their team bring to Liverpool.
We are trying to play football, good football, wherever we go now.
No more of that defence defence defence mentaility of the last few years.
There is pragmatism now, yes, and the playing squad has improved to be able to adjust the approach to different games and opponents. It felt good to see that there was strength on the bench yesterday.
We should be happy with what we have at the moment, and give Kenny the time and support to show that appreciation.
Stability is what we are crying out for. I'm actually excited about where Kenny can take us by the time his contract is up.
And respect to Charlie Adam yesterday, great stuff. Fire and skill.

A lot of people have said that Glen should be moved onto the wing and it's easy to see why people think that.

I guess we will never know really if he would be any good there until it's tried. My question is why has it never been tried?

Heard anything about this Ed? {Ed001's Note - because the one time we were going to try it, we had a bunch of injuries and he had to cover at left back. I have been told since that there might be a contractual issue stopping him playing there unless he agrees to it. He is unlikely to do so as it might cost him his England place and the squad is now strong enough he doesn't need to be shunted about to cover.}

I think I am one of the few voices who actually doesn't want him to play RM/RW. He played there for Portsmouth for over half a season (Lauren usually played RB) and was adequate at best. If anyone remembers it was like Riise when he played LM, the runs were not timed as well as from fullback and he often struggled with receiving the ball with his back to goal. l personally prefer him at RB despite how promising Kelly is. Since Clarke has come in and he played a while at LB his defending is generally very good, much better concentration levels.

Richards

Is that right ed ?
To me, you're employed and paid as 'a player' for LFC. First and foremost.
As Shanks said to Tommy Smith : "what do you mean your knee, that's Liverpool's knee".
Dead right.
To be fair to GJ, he did cover LB really well mind.
The Real KB {Ed001's Note - I doubt he would mind if the club were short handed, he was perfectly willing to go to left back. But he only gets one chance to make a career, there are only so many of these big summer tournaments, I can understand why he wouldn't want to risk his place when it is not a necessity. Plus I don't think our management team feel there is a need to experiment with him there at the moment, he is doing a good job at full back and we have other options in front of him.}

Weird though because it's not as if england have a solid nailed on RW. There are plenty of players who get rotated there so it would not necessarily cost him his place if he played well.

So maybe this is the time to reconsider the Andy Carroll signing and think about moving him on in January.

He has not been the player we thought he might be: he has not been at the club long enough to establish himself, but you have to ask why he isn't playing more considering his price tag. It appears he was a 'fast by' (not a panic one) when Torres decamped and we may need to look at him again.

AC is never going to be worth £35m even in the past high priced markets. But the real issue is who can we get to play up front with Suarez. I was impressed with Bellamy and would consider him first choice partner. With the issues on and off the field building at Chelsea, I would still like to see us move again for Sturridge. It isn't the firsttime we will have asked - but maybe .....

JOE45

Judge the lad when he gets the service that he thrives on. Until then wind your kneck in or support someone else.Admittedly he hasn't been the signing we were all hoping for but until we get decent service from BOTH ersowings try holding onto your judgement.Personally i think the lad will come good

Pegleg

This is just what the lad needs right now!!
give the kid time to prove he can be a top player, and not pound him at every chance you have. As he has only played a hand full of games for us ,and has a much better return of goals ,that Chelsea got for £50m.

IDHTDTSIO

21 games, 5 goals, 1 in 4. Not horrifcly bad for a player who has struggled for fitness, hasnt had a run of games and hasnt hit form yet. Give him time, hes 22 and with a good run in the team, we may start to see the best of him... But, and here is the BUT, we as Liveprool fans have to get behind him!

Adzii

Stopped reading after first sentence. If you honestly think theres even a possibility of Andy Carroll being sold in January , you are out of touch with reality.

Look at other similar style strikers at his age, none of them were ripping up the scoring charts due to the skill set they need but they will last longer before fading,

AC is not a Owen, Torres etc super fast and light striker, he is a big CF who will improve alot with experence and time, and is very nice to have in the squad for another option atm

Look at Christian Vieri he only really started scoring at 24, not an exact AC comparison but not miles off from memory so basically give him time

Ska-oop

As kenny said he cost -15 million and look what chelsea have bought for 50 million to sit and keep the bench warm seeeesssshhh for his wages ill sit and keep it cozy ill even bring my gas fire

I know there not the same build but they have similar qualities, Peter Crouch. he had problems when he was younger and when he came to us it took him a long time before he got going but he turned out good. give Andy time he will be great.

I think the difference between crouch and Carroll though is that crouch was unlucky with his goals at first. They were getting taken off him by the dubious goals panel, cleared off the line and hitting the post and bar. You could tell he looked like a good player, good touch, great hold up play, good short range passer. Carroll has not been unlucky, he has not been good enough. The easiest comparison there is for Carroll is Duncan Ferguson. Alan Shearer even said he felt Carroll was almost identical in style to ferguson. Dunno about you but that style is out of date now.

Carroll does badly because he cannot adapt to different style. He regularly gets marked out of the game as soon as his aerial threat is nullified, because he has nothing else to offer. He needs to improve, i expected Suarez to take this long to settle, not an englishman who has plied his trade in this country for his entire career. He has no excuses and must look to himself for improvement now.

Hi Ed, Liverpool need 1 central defender and 1 central midfielder and 1 winger. Who do you think we should buy. {Ed002's Note - I would be a little surprised if a central defender is sought with so many already at the club. I still think Moussa Sissoko would ba an excellent buy for midfield, as does Comolli. I assume that Dalglish is not so interested. Unless Kuyt leaves in January I suspect the right winger may wait until the summer when more options will be available and the club will know if they will be playing in the Champions League or the Europa or whatever.}

Is it time to give Johnson a role on our wing?
Instead of spending OTT prices in Jan, we could give him a run.As we have cover in Kelly at the back, and Downing/Henderson/Kuyt on the wing if it does'nt work.

i dont have the drugs to sort it out

I agree totally, move johnson foward and kelly behind him!

Great Result yesterday - tactics where key. Chelski got their tactics all wrong first half and Liverpool looked dangerous but when AVB made the change at half time putting Mata in a more central role then Chelski became more dangerous... what pleased me was both SC and KD identified this change and came up with a solution of putting Henderson on to allow Adam and Lucas to sit as two defending mid-fielders. It took them about 10mins to regain some control but I knew once that change had been made we would handle the Chelski attacks.

Great tactics with great passion and commitment from LFC... you cant buy that Roman not even for £50million!

Wouldn't be surprised if Roman put in a bid for Maxi and Johnson in Jan, seems to buy every other LFC player that scores against them...

RIP Luca

YNWA jns

Roman may put £50m for Suarez. I am realy afride of it now.

Chelsea are very poor at the min! think most clubs would want to play them at this time?

Suarez is not like Torres, he won't betray us like Torres did.

RenegeadeRed

Want to bet?

They can buy him if they fork up quiet alot more and im talking in the hundred millions if they can affoard 50 for a crock they can pay 250 million for a up ad coming superstar!! plus they only buy the player who score against them johnson and maxi cabs to stanford bridge with 100 million switching hands???? who knows haha

He wont leave in jan ever unless we agree

we need some kick arse striker wo can finish hey eds johnson should be right mid {Ed001's Note - I would like to see him given a go there, just to see if he can do it for us in a real match. But I am sure the coaching staff must have done an assessment on his capability and whether he can play there.}

Its about time everyone acknowledges that Lucas is a fantastic player. He is not just a tackling water carrier mid anymore. Yesterday his passing and position sense was excellent. He didn't rush his decisions and often made the right one. He even did some cheeky skill near the touch line to dodge two tackles.

Great player. Full stop.

G. Raul

His yellow card was a joke aswell, with side show bob only picking up a yellow as well.

The lad really needs a song.... haven't heard one good/catchy enough yet!

How about
"Lucas, he sit on front of the back 4 for me" LOL

Don't agree at all but I don't want to go down that route again, it was a boring arguement last time.

Waro

I have always been a fan of Lucas okay he's no Gerrard but who is? I liked the controlled aggression shown by Lucas yesterday, he's coming on a bundle.

If Lucas only had a few goals in him a season I think people would start to think of him in the same light as Didi or possibly Whelan...

Richards

I think of all the players who could be poached at the moment - it would be Lucas. Anyone know his contract status?

He just looks so much the part now - and he is the kind of player that all the top clubs look for now to add a bit of discipline and steel in CM. They've obviously put a bit of beef on in the gym and he knows exactly what to do - and he has strength to not get knocked over in the Premiership now. His little collecting and passing (note; all along the turf, not bouncingi in the air) to the players in space looks so deceptively simple but is in fact the key for LFC turning defence into attack. I loved the little shimmy and pass to Johnson yesterday - and seeing the Chelsea CM look the other way. Made me smile :-)

Most of all though - he has never wavered from wanting to give his all to the Red shirt - even in the dark days of 2009/2010. I saw him take a massive amount of on-pitch verbal from SG about four years ago - and you could see he realised his mistake, just nodded to the Captain, and got on with the game - and later you saw SG giving him a thumbs up when he Lucas changed his position or whatever it was. Proper player. I reckon with Reina, Suarez and Adam he must be first on Kenny's wee bit of paper eh?

Interesting that KD (like Raffa) talks about 'game intelligence' - and he mentioned both Bellamy and Maxi as having this. I would put Lucas in this as well - just that knowing when to push up, when to slow things down, when to risk a yellow, when to hoof it, when to try a 40 yard pass. One of the great Dalglishisms is that football is like a piano, '2 or 3 to lift it, one to play it' - and we have the likes of Suarez, Downing and Maxi to do the nice stuff (and hopefully more of it) when we get into the final 1/3. One more bit of sizzle would be nice. Podalski would be fantastic - but I have a feeling KD may go for a classic poacher a la Doyle or Bent. Just has to be an in the box player, not a superstar.

Its all about timing. I think a lot of the current players still have their time to come; Carrol, Henderson, Downing, Coates. So young - so much talent. And the likes of KD having a word on the training ground ... just getting them to be the players they can be.

But that's fine - its a team game. They will have their time - I have no worries, no fear, no disputes with them. KD and Steve Clarke will have their schedules, plans, gym sessions. Have no doubts about that..

For now - its the time for a different set of players to take the lead; Reina, Agger, Enrique, Lucas, Adam, Bellamy. Oh and that little bit of something special - Suarez. Not bad for a core is it?

Its their time.

Not a bad time to love the Reds - is it?

I agree, but Adam and Lucas are younger than Downing. And i think Agger and Enrique are the same age as him if not a little younger.

Lucas will never be Ronnie Whelan - that boy was exceptional

Ronnie whelan?
he was only a piece of the jigsaw, he picked up all the loose balls on the edge of both penalty boxes when we were attacking or defending, a skill in its self but i can see lucas getting better every week, his passing has improved loads, bob paisleys skids

Lucas, suarez 24 both 25 in jan
adam, enrique 25
agger, skrtel 26
Johnson, downing 27
reina 29

thats a good young core all in their prime build around that next year will be better than this one. AND TO ALL THE HATERZ (five benitez players and four dalglish)

Lucas' first time outside of the foot pass to suarez who does a first time pass to carroll that was class.

hai Ed..great site..great work..and great moment of joy..

Saw the match..and we did exceptional...perfect starting line up...
Lucas...and adam..showing good partnership..especially lucas..this guy is incredible...reina..save of the year..

Ed...after the match..i closly saw torres...boy..he is missing us..right now...i am sure..if we go fro a bid..he will take it in two hands and come to us...and i dont think we need another top class striker..if he arrives...he was hugging our players..talking to them..
he is missing those fans..that love everything...feeling a bit sympathy now..
once the largest shirt selling player in epl..now warming bench..struggling to survive..

If we need volunteers I'll have a go 'struggling to survive' on his wages.

hi eds fellow reds.

just gotta say i thought lucas was awsome again yesterday, the lads growing every game and hes still young,id now take him over masch,i always said give him a break and hes come good! hes even started to add a bit of positive play now not always going backwards! happy for maxi also hope he starts ahead of downing more often him and suarez are like gerrard/torres! also a little pat on the back for henderson he played well when he came on and was very positive!

but its not all good, andy carrol when he came on showed hes worth nowhere near 35 mil,hes touches was same standard as a avg sunday league player!

swedish adam

I thought andy played really well when we had the derby game against everton a while back. since then he has hardly had a run in the team and this has to have affected his confidence. he needs more game time to show what he can do. he is stil young and has plenty to learn

Forget Andy's price, judge him on his input. He will bulk up and get fitter, our club know what he needs. So get off his back and support him. Have you got a son aged 22? how mature is he? there is massive pressure on players, settling at the club, making friends.

Heart goes out to Brad Jones and family, it is the worst thing to lose a child truely terrible. As part of the wider Liverpool family we can show how much we care by remembering our local Hospices and Childrens Hospitals at this time of year, donations of toys etc can be a great lift for these kids. So lets remember Luca by buying that 1 extra gift this year.

RIP LUCA

Dont Buy the Sun

Fantastic post, totally agree DBTS - I have, unfortunately, spent a lot of time recently at Alder Hey hospital in the children's ward and have seen some of the saddest sights imaginable. I honestly believe that parents with fit and healthy children should visit just to see how fortunate they are.

I would just like to say that the staff and nurses there are absolutely magnificent and I'm sure that any contribution people could make would be gratefully received.

Also, Ronald McDonald house next to Alder Hey houses parents and family of children who are at the hospital. This is a free service that is run by charitable donations. We all visit this fast food service so remember to put any loose change in the charity box - it is a fantastic service.

Goodnight all.

R.I.P Luca Jones.

To the people clicking disagree about the sentiments left regarding Luca. By doing that I'm confident you will never have the quality in friends or life that most will enjoy. By clicking disagree regards a childs death tells me your future will be lonely & your destination most likely a psychiatric unit where your only company will be peadophiles & other anti-human maniacs. Good luck!!
