Well, is only 2 points from 12, but we showed a lot of character today. With a little luck we could get out of September with 10 points.

Henderson missing for those games.

Is there any significance?

Obvious I know, but we are well off the pace for top 4 at moment.

The Kop was so flat today. What you don't see on the TV is all the good work that is going on. No we didn't win but we are a quality side. Sturridge is back, he will improve, Benteke is a top class striker, Coutinho is such a creative player, full of flair. We have the ultimate workhorse in Milner and so many other great players. We've had a slow start but Rodgers will sort things out. And remember - We're still above chelsea HAHAHA!

At least we've scored more than one team in the premier league this season. A truly woeful Newcastle. I'm actually getting worried about relegation.

I wonder if there's some sort of behind closed doors contract battle been going on with sakho.

We all think he should start, we've been getting mixed messages from him and the club. Now he's signed and is back in the team.

Either way it's good news.

Agreed, Harris! My hope is that his last two perfs have shut his detractors up but I know they'll be back bashing him as soon as he has an average perf.

The Sunday People says this morning that the Balotelli fiasco has cost us £30m and that we are paying £60k p.w. for his wages and not getting any loan fee.
Does Italy regard us as the softest touch in football?
If the owners actually sat down and scrutinized Rodgers' record in the transfer-market they would possibly realise that he's a buffoon. And if they care to watch any post-Suarez tapes at random or even decide to grace us with their presence this afternoon they'll see for themselves how inept he is as a manager. I know people will say that Balotelli wasn't his choice and make excuses for him but, when it boils down to it, Brendan Rodgers is the manager and the playing-staff are his responsibility. . and his alone!!
In the real world we are accountable for our actions and if we are a liability at work then we have to face the consequences. particularily if we cost the company money.
What will BR's legacy be so far?
He hasn't won anything. He hasn't made us exciting to watch. He hasn't turned the team into a group of happy players who'll fight for each other. He hasn't made Anfield into a fortress or even a place where visiting teams get slightly nervous about visiting.
What has he done in the years he's been at the helm?
Well, he's alienated talented players, brought in the wrong players, sold the wrong players, turned the academy into a graveyard, consistently favoured certain players in the wrong positions over available alternatives, cannot react to changes during games, is tactically inept, can't pick the right starting eleven, can't hold an interview without looking like a dick, can't get the defence right, can't get the midfield creativity his "system" demands and buys forwards he can't supply.
Basically, anyone with access to Youtube can type in "Barcelona 2008-2012" and do what Brendan Rodgers does except most would probably do it better and without the ego and teeth !
I will apologize later if we stuff Norwich City 5-0 but I honestly think we'll lose or eke out a draw.
Please can we get rid of this chump before we turn into Aston Villa ?!!!

He may have the last word on transfers, but one thing is for sure, he does not negotiate transfer fees or contracts or wages or loan deals.

This is very true Ron. Something a lot of posters want Rodgers hung out to dry for. It was not him negoiating the ridiculous prices we end up paying for some players. In fact in Mario's case he wasnt even the person who initially suggested Mario as an option for LFC although, granted he did agree in the end.

I always believe a football team takes on the characteristics and identity of the manager
- Ferguson - domineering and winners
- Mourinho - arrogant and win at all costs
- Wenger - overcomplicated but a bit soft centred
- Redknapp - all about the money
- Pulis - mean and hard to beat

- Rodgers - clueless and flattering to deceive / out of their depth
Some may even say full of xxxx

While it does look like we're being taken for mugs it was pretty much the only option. If he goes to Milan and does well then we can recoup more of the fee, no-one wanted to take the risk with him given his performances on top of the fact that he is Mario Balotelli.

Agree4 Disagree1

20 Sep 2015 12:52:59
No one is blaming BR for the fees and stuff so again, your arguments are false. He is getting the blame and rightly so, because he was the one that messed about with the Remy and Bony deals only to end up with allowing the Balo deal to go through as a panic buy. The eds said he could have stopped the deal and saved us the waste but he did not so that's his cross to bear as well. Remember, this was a player that two weeks before, BR emphatically said would not come here.

Agree13 Disagree3

20 Sep 2015 15:52:34
Redohio, was it not the medical staff who "messed about with" Remy ?

Agree0 Disagree6

{Ed001's Note - no, it was Rodgers that pulled the plug on that deal.}

20 Sep 2015 19:31:34
Gerrard said that Ballotelli was a risk that Rodgers took. He took the risk along with his staff at the time.

Agree2 Disagree0

20 Sep 2015 20:21:10
To be fair, Remy has not pulled up any trees at Chelsea and has had a lot of injuries, so I don't understand what Rodgers did wrong there

Agree0 Disagree8

{Ed001's Note - because we had no striker at all last season, Remy would have been an improvement on Sterling there. If you can't see what was wrong there, then you need new glasses.}

20 Sep 2015 21:11:47
Wasn't Remy injured most of last season? Seem to remember him picking up a bad one early on.

20 Sep 2015 22:24:58
Ron Keague, can you please stop defending Rodgers? It's becoming like a personal crusade to defend the indefensible. I don't really care about the finite details, I just want this joker gone with a passion.
Even Rodgers seems to appreciate he's been given an undeserved stay of execution.
You need to be punished Ron !! I sentence you to be strapped to a chair in front of a telly showing every game we've played under Rodgers since Suarez left !! Survive that and you can have a choice of two free tickets to the next home match or a family-pass to Alton Towers. Both are "worth" around £100 but one is more likely to provide thrills than the other.
P.S. If you think Rodgers has got a clue in Europe then you are seriously deluded my friend !!

Agree7 Disagree1

20 Sep 2015 22:22:40
Ron, you're embarrassing yourself again.m remy would have been an upgrade on both Sterling and Balo so again, your post is senseless and has been royally debunked. You're welcome!

Talking to a friend tonight about the players we've had in the last 10 years. Got me wondering where we would be if we had them at the same time. Just wishful thinking but imagine a squad with these players. Reina Dudek finnan arbeloa carra hypia agger riise Gerrard alonso continuo masserano hamman Torres Suarez sturridge. If I've missed anyone feel free to add. As I said wishful thinking so it's just for fun.

"King" Luis Garcia was always under rated and I always thought injuries robbed us of our best left back for a generation- Fabio Aurelio

Agree12 Disagree2

20 Sep 2015 09:42:07
Garcia had moments of brilliance but he gave the ball away a hell of a lot. He was fortunate to play in an era when we were a better team. If he gave the ball away as much now for this team he would be slaughtered.

20 Sep 2015 10:30:04
look at the 08-09 team, it's basically what you're talking about. Maybe stick Suarez on the left instead of Babel and Sturridge on the right instead of Kuyt.

What a team that would be.

Agree9 Disagree0

20 Sep 2015 11:03:51
Riera was the regular starter at LM, not Babel. Suarez would definitely get into that team, and so would Coutinho.

20 Sep 2015 11:53:58
Where would you play Couts AG? Instead of Kuyt? not sure he'd get into the midfield.

Agree3 Disagree0

20 Sep 2015 13:20:37
Depends on who the manager is. Rafa would be pragmatic, and would bench Coutinho, and probably would have played Suarez and Kuyt out wide for their work rate. Another manager would drop Kuyt and put Coutinho in.

20 Sep 2015 15:09:24
I think it's fair to say, that the 08-09 team is the strongest starting 11 we've had in many years, but it lacked depth. You throw Coutinho, Sturridge, Suarez and Henderson in there and you've got an excellent starting 11(take your pick, so much talent) and some quality good depth too.

This is now the most egotistical overrated inconsistent league in the world.

As a collective, we've become saturated with the burden of expectancy instilled by the Murdock monopoly.

Great for the pockets of the chosen few affiliated with football, yet sour to the sheep who graze their way through the burden of expectancy.

It's becoming boring beyond comprehension.

P.s Just how did the North American influence of our game become so transparent?

Heads up there I suspect without the pun.

Thanks Rupert.

So just to summarise - you blame Rupert Murdoch because you have unrealistic expectations? And that's due to you not being able to think for yourself, so you're easily lead by the media?

I'd be having a stern word with my folks if I was you, not Rupert

Anyone who remembers football pre Sky knows that it's no longer a game, it a business in the "sports entertainment" industry. In fact it's becoming more like WWF (or whatever the latest iniitials are). Players jumping around, diving about feigning injury. Egos completely out of control with no respect for officials. One on-going continuous soap opera designed to sell newspapers, TV subscriptions and advertising.

Agree16 Disagree1

20 Sep 2015 11:12:48
That's just the European influence Ron, nothing to do with a subscription tv station.

Agree3 Disagree3

20 Sep 2015 11:41:05
Could be Essex, but without Sky's money there wouldn't be a European influence to the extent there is now.
It's the constant scrutiny, excessive punditry, undermining of referees turning the game into a circus/pantomime.
"He said this" ; "oh no he didn't" ; "oh yes he did".
Can you remember which doctors were on the bench during the 80's? I can't remember one name, yet we've had front page headlines about one for a week.
It is a soap opera these days but with better acting.

Agree5 Disagree0

20 Sep 2015 14:31:07
Its only like that if you buy into the bs. If you look at it as an unpredictable sport, guess what you'll view it as?

To say its anything like the scripted WWF is nonsensical. Media may well look for any little thing to better sell papers, but the only reason they make it seem more and more dramactic is because there's enough numpties out there, willing to be easily led down that path. If it didn't sell papers or attract clicks, they wouldn't do it.

If it upsets you, think for yourself in future and don't click the headline or buy the rag

Agree1 Disagree2

20 Sep 2015 15:58:43
Unpredictable ?
Since the formation of the PL, there has been only been 3 x different winners per decade.
And we're probably down to a likely 2 x at present.
What is unpredictable about that ?
I can't wait for this BS European League to start, which I trust LFC will have ZERO to do with.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Sep 2015 17:35:34
So you predicted West Ham would beat City? How about Leicester would be in the top 4 and playing like they are? Did you predict Chelsea would be a shambles defensively for the first 5 weeks? No? So the majorities predictions have been wrong. Would that not make them unpredictable?

I know, in general, you just like arguing Juicer, but give your head a wobble mate. The team that wins the league isn't the only team competing in it. Every week a result surprises. The winner of the league is just one aspect of the league.
