Please liverpool stop buying average players!
If we want top 4 then sturridge ince etc are not going to get us there...

You would have thought we would have learned after signing Adam Carroll downing Henderson Borini and even though he's decent Allen won't make a massive difference.

Allen is the pick of them but compare to our rivals creative players..
Silva nasri Rooney kagawa hazard mata Cazorla wilshere... Spurs are pretty weak in this department though.

As they sing at the start of CSI - "Who are you?"
DM2012

I get it!! A team full of ball juggling show ponies & we're away... You're a genius, leave your contact details.

dd

I think that sturridge will give us the boost we need. We would all like a silva, Rooney etc but we don't have 150k a week for wages. We need people to provide goals so Walcott and sturridge for example for the same as one of them players will be better!

Murph

Dont no why u saying borini is a bad buy. he is young so he can only get better and he has played like 5 games so u cant judge him on that.

You sir, simply don't have a clue!

K79

The likes of hazzard etc did not want to come to us and we could not afford their rididuclous wages, so whats your point?

I'm not having a dig if you do not rate the players we have but you have to be realistic.

In saying that and no matter how good he is i would not have liked Hazzard for us anyhow
gareth

Stop buying average players!!

stop positing without leaving your name!!

and by the way, allen is a real gem in the making, anyway who cant see how important players like him are in the team, just doesnt understand how important players like him are, neat tidy passing, especially while under pressure, and unbelievable ball retention.... he will become like the heartbeat of the team, keeping the ball moving about while space opens up for those around him and the kid can win the ball back great aswell,oh and yea he still is a kid too ;)

rodger the dodger

We don't need to buy creative players. We already have in abundance in the academy with the likes of Suso, Teixeira , Adorjan , Ibe , Nacho etc. In time they will give all the spark you need for the club to win matches!

Indy Kevin

The original poster is right. We have 150k/week wages for 2 world class players if we can free up Downing, Cole, Doni, Henderson wages. Do you really dont want 2 world classy midfielder & striker as replacements for our 4 high-paid useless players? This is a very simple thought that Management should do. It is painful to me as a fan of a big club such as LFC to read that we dont have money, we cant attract world-class players, bla bla. Big club like us should think Big as well. Management please be smarter in transfer window.

Jonas

I can understand y some fans calls them the best supporter here while defending and justifying the signings of downings, and caroll...
horrible..
you watch football..
we are the only club..who is selling players who were actually bought in the previous window..
this shows we failed in signings..

You lot just go over and over the same rumours time after time. First the papers say sturrige and walcott, now they say about Sanchez so you all jump on that band wagon. Get some hard facts before posting rubbishe

Last time i checked, this was a rumour site.

IN all honesty i would rather have walcott than sturridge. People seem to forget walcott is only 23 because hes been a starter for such a long time. Youngsters will want to follow in the footstep of someone like that and also a major factor in wanting walcott is hes a liverpool supporter some people dont realize how much that can affect a player playing for his club. Just some food for thought let get these wins in before january and surley we can build a squad worth top 4! YNWA

Looks like FSG are sticking to their gameplan in the transfer market based on interest in Ince/Sturridge/Walcott

Making Young / English / moneyball (or statistic based) signings their priority

By the law of averages at least one of these signings has to live up to the billing !!!!!

Or they will die trying !!!

Interest in bent,walcott,sturridge. Price tags...5mil,14mil,12mil.

It's quite worrying that someone agrees with this

I think there probably is interest in those three, however 5m for Bent seems very cheap. Even with his age and his small amount of game time this season I couldn't see him going for less than £10m

12 Dec 2012 22:21:49
Hope the Darren Bent talk will end now. Reliable source says he's off to cardiff on loan. The same source told me about Bellamy to cardiff a long time before it came public knowledge.

Hopefully... I was worried I might have to walk around with with Bent written on the back of my shirt.

4 good January signings in my view would be:

GK - Butland £8m - Loan him back til end of season, and he will provide good back up for Reina.

MID - Honda - £12m - Can play anywhere in Mid/Attack and would pay for his transfer fee multiple times over as shirt sales would be massive.

RW/LW - Ince - £4m(35% discount) - Give young Sterling competition and a deserved rest as we don't want to burn him out.

RW/LW/ST - Sturridge - £12m - Is young and greedy knows where the goal, can play anywhere in a front 3 and would add good strength in depth to our thin squad.

Total - £36m

BigD

Have you seen Butland recently?

He's not as good as Gulacsi, watch them both play!

Butland has been exposed.

Ur saying as if being greedy is a good thing

I would be happy with Honda, Ince and Sturridge having seen Butland step up to the championship he hasn't seemed anywhere near as impressive he did have a ok Olympics though still think there are far better options out there than him.

Big D, from all reports we will have 20M to spend plus anything from player sales (Downing, Cole, Hendo).

I think the players you mentioned can have us pushing for a CL spot.

As u said with Honda, jerseys sales in ASIA would repay his transfer fee. Hueng Min Son is also an Asain option i would be open to.

trini_red

Hondas going nowhere. Sadly. {Ed002's Note - Stalled you mean?}

Hendo is not going enywhere

Honda is injury prone and badly out of form. Bet half the people who clamour for him have never, ever seen him play. The name sounds sort of good though. No point wasting money on someone who will stop either Shelvey or Suso becoming top attacking midfielders when Stevie hangs his boots up. Honda would also want a fortune in wages. No thanks.

PieInTheSkyMan

Interesting replies..

Butland would be available and would learn from Reina so he would improve his game, i said Butland as he is 19 and would be one for the future, but as you say he needs to improve, if Reina was to leave then the replacement should be Ter Stegen.

It is good to have greedy players in the team sometimes, we already have Suarez but the thing people are forgetting is that Sturridge is only 23 an England International and will get better if he is played in his preferred position he does score goals and creates chances, id prefer Walcott though as i thing he would contemplate Suarez better, but as its been well reported it looks increasing likely that it will be Sturridge.

Ince again looks increasingly likely as we have a 35% sell on fee which means we will get him for around £4m and as i said earlier he will ease the pressure on Sterling and for £4m its a bargain compared to what Palace want for Zaha(quoted up to £20m) who hasn't done much compared to Ince.

Honda is the player most of us fans have wanted for a while, he gets mentioned every transfer window, and hopefully this Jan transfer window he will actually be a Liverpool player, he is an experienced International player scores goals creates chances, has got a lethal left foot on him is a free kick specialist and can play across the Midfield/Attack so would be a valuable player at the club.

BigD

Honda...
is our answer to arsenal, spurs, city and UTD..
he is as best as carzola, ,silva, rooney...
he is having an awful season in russia..still ending with handfull of goals and assist..
a freekick specialist..and an excellent left foot..
good in the dribbling..and excellent skills...
spend the money...and buy him..and forget willians and erikkseon...

Seen him in the flesh vs Australia. Awesome! Would be a great acquisition on many levels. Sadly think this is all paper talk.
JY

Liverpool have chased Honda for yonks now, every window were linked. Love to see him in our shirt (also, warrior make the money of the shirt sales, not LFC) but unfortunately just can't see it happening.

I want Falcao, i think he and Suarez with Hulk would be one of the ultimate line ups possible. World beaters!

But let's be honest it doesn't look like we'll get those type of players in to accompany Luis any time soon, sadly.

So we have to look to other options, now i agree Sturridge isn't top quality and Ince is still very young. So maybe we'll look to strengthen in the Summer when the league position has been finalised and we know if Europe is available.

It would be silly to spend big and not qualify for Champions League and have to sell players to make up for it twice in a row.

Sturridge and Ince for less than the price Chelsea paid City for SWP.

12 Dec 2012 22:04:03
Liverpool will sign Daniel Sturridge and Theo Walcott this January while they are plotting summer moves for Christian Eriksenn and Angelo Ogbonna.

That would be very nice

BigD

Ogbonna will stay in Italy. I think that any central defenders will be from La Liga, possibly Amorebieta.

good evening reds and eds i could really use some help please. ive been a liverpool supporter for 11 years and ive never had an opportunity to see the reds in person, but now liverpool are to face mansfield in the fa cup i might have a chance (im from a village about 45 mins away). my question is would i have to buy my ticket off the website or could i purchase it from the ground? i realise its probably a stupid question but please dont abuse me

id love to the chance to watch them live if possible

YNWA
thankyou. LB

http://www./tickets/latest-ticket-news

Liverpool football club's official website

To the exiled Red
Possibly your best way to get a ticket is to go to Mansfields ground and queue when tickets go on sale - wont be the Liverpool end but with the noise our travelling fans make you wont miss out on the atmosphere. Mansfield might do what other clubs do though and give priority to those who have watched them before - this might mean enduring a game this weekend or soon to get a claim on the FA cup ticket.
Becoming a member of LFC allows you to get a better chance of a ticket from their website.
Good luck ticket hunting - first match live is always really special. Mine was against Huddersfield Town result 2-2!! (a long time ago!!)

Please, get me right.I do not have any problem with Sturridge because I indeed believe he will improve the squad. However, the transfer fee and the wages demand are too much for somebody of Sturridge quality(slightly above average,at best).I have always placed emphasy on efficient scouting and with that,we can indeed find a gem, most likely from abroad. The only way to the top is beign wise with our spending and sagacious promotion of the youth, when neccessary.

Why is every one slating the likes of Sturidge and Ince? Seen both play and I admit I'm not their biggest fan, yet I am more than happy with how the team are growing under BR, if he thinks these or what ever players we end up buying I will still give them the chance to play in our shirt, not exactly giving players a good reason to come to LFC when all they will be thinking about is having the pressure of wearing our shirt plus the fans turning on them before they have even kicked a ball for us, I'm not a fan of FSG but I'm still a supporter of LFC I watch their games but their shirts follow their reserves basically put my spare money into a team I support, so my trust must stay with the team. That is what a SUPPORTER does, have your opinion but at least give these players the chance, we have not got the money for cavani, falcao or the other big names, and I'm glad cos if we had would we be watching a team grow into a real team? Youngsters coming through with some amazing set guard? A team for the future?
Sorry rant over just think its about time people stopped playing fantasy football and supported the team manager current players and new additions.
That's what makes our true supporters, that's what we need to show our team. Not all this

Who told you how much money is available? if it is someone other than the media im not gonna believe you.

what have fsg done for people to think of them in this negative way?

i am 100% behind the players, management and owners, which is a true supporter.

KUMBER

Kumber a true supporter asks questions and hopes to get the best out of the team. Not like you who clearly has no thought process. Antrim Red

Antrim Red - How is that you can say KUMBER has no thought process? For him to weigh up the the input he receives and come to the conclusions he does, is a thought process, no different to you taking in the input your get and making your decisions. Just because he is not as cynical or jaded as some does not mean that he is ignorant or does not think about it.

Eds , have we got any interest in any celta Vigo players ,they were always a feeder club but they have some real good players, hard workin on the floor football and would be reasonably priced ? {Ed002's Note - Not the we are aware.}

12 Dec 2012 21:42:17
You guys are just crazy..spearing can do the same job allen is doing,even henderson or coady..what a waste of 15m..only liverpool fans would say a striker is good enough cos of his movement and pace.when you're not scoring goals. We should have even bought lambert rather than borini.face the truth rodgers is not good enough..with the 26m if he bought a world class striker to support suarez we would be in the top4 right now..any smart coach would know we didn't need midfielders the way we needed forwards.the sooner you see that rodgers is our problem the better..stop being pathetic with the tiki taka rubbish we have been playing similar football before he came..you're blaming fsg for not release funds..when rodgers is wasting it on mediocre players {Ed019's Note - Smh}

I fully understand why you chose not to leave a name on that post. You are a shining example of the biggest problem LFC has at the moment.

LIVERPRES

He's a good player, don't be naive to the situation.

He's tired, he's played straight through for Swansea last season, in the Olympics in the Summer and he's played for Wales and he's played 21 games for us so far this season.

So i understand if he's starting to get a bit jaded and fatigued. Henderson had the same problem last season, he went the whole season for Sunderland, then went away to the u21 tournament in the Summer, played for us a whole season including both cup runs, then went with England to the last tournament.

They aren't rubbish players, just played too much and need/needed a rest, Henderson looks a much better player after being benched/rested and coming back into the game. I think it's telling. Shelvey didn't play much, and he still looks

Allen is 21 my god give the kid a break he was brought in to set examples ease LFC into BR way be. He is a fighter always gives 110% rarely makes a bad pass and is always running up and down the pitch to get the ball. he is a young player who is in a new city and new club after being with swansea his whole life and was thrown into a position he wasnt used to because of lucas injury. and you just soudn stupid when you try to say a striker isnt good for his movements how do you expect him to get into goal scorning positions without good movement? cant tell if you were talking about suarez or borini but suarez was top goal scorer in the premier league and borini is settling in also only 21 get a grip

Jpow_LFC

Can't say there are too many £26m strikers looking to join a team in transition & no CL. Although no doubt you'll prove me wrong.. perhaps you have a shiney, glossy catalogue of unemployed foreign hot shots waiting for a call from Melwood. WAKE UP MATE!

You do realise that Borini has been injured for quite some time now and to be fair I thought Borini was doing quite well until he got that injury. You quite clearly know nothing about football or are a troll - both probably.

Just a little stat on Joe Allen, He has won the ball back 138 times this season. More than any other player in the league and also has a high pass completion rate.

But my belief is no matter what is said your opinion will remain the same.

I think he was a great buy regardless of the price tag and hope he keeps getting games, On Jay Spearing I like his attitude but in terms of quality he just doesn't compare to Allen.

Eds , watching Real Madrid now and alonso playing .do you think that sahin will return at the end of the season and alonso will come back to us ,maybe to teach Allen and shelvey for the future . {Ed002's Note - Can Liverpool afford him?}

Just to get this right you eds have said repeatedly that Liverpool do not have a set transfer budget, just that if the manager wants the player then he takes it to the board and they decide if it would be good for the football club so how can you say to various posters that we can't afford x y or z?

BigD {Ed002's Note - I have said repeated over a prolonged period of time that the owners will support the manager within reason. Saying there is no fixed budget does not mean there are endless funds available. There are players who are beyond the financial reach of the club regardless of whether they would be interested in a move or not.}

Thank you Ed002.

BigD

Ed's I think that Xabi would come back to us for wages of around 75k p/w. is that realistic or am I being biased?
Scouse_Pride {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what wages he would be willing to drop to. What about the transfer fee? You think that will be reduced for old times sake as well?}

Surely at end of season when hes 31 going on 32 with a year remaining on his contract his transfer fee wouldnt be that high? Surely no more than £10 mill?
Rob

12 Dec 2012 21:13:03
There is better value for money in the transfer market for 18m..than sturridge and ince..we should have won the league if not for the terrible players we have bought over the years..now rodgers is following in the same footstep..all this midtable managers that go after midtable players...borini allen now he wants sturridge and ince.allen isn't good enough to even start for newcastle..why the f!ck can you say ince is good enough to play for liverpool..this is just terrible management..this is the same way we sat there blindly hoping for the best with kenny when he went on his 100m splurge..not with you rodgers..this players are not good enough

You do know we didnt but allen from newcastle right? just had to ask because after reading you comment it is obvious that you know very little about how football works.

Eds,fellow reds . Sanchez is playing for barca tonight

And? ..... So is messi. It's about as likely we will sign him

If you follow Spanish football you will see Sanchez does nt play very often so maybe he could be being shop windowed

12 Dec 2012 20:48:32
In the summer transfer window of 2012 we inquired about the availability of Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez. We proposed a season long loan with an to buy. However, Villanova declined due to his desire to assess his squad and perceived Sanchez to be one of his top talents. Since then Sanchez has fallen increasingly out of favour. We asked in the summer to be 'kept in the loop' and I understand that we have been informed he is available for transfer. He will not be cheap...£20m+, in fact. I am not explicitly saying that we will get him or that we would be interested at that price, all I know is that we have been informed of his availability. Sanchez is a highly coveted player and it will not only be Liverpool who know that he is available. So, I guess, watch this space redmen and fingers crossed he graces the Anfield turf in 2013.

Thanks,

Kop Dog. {Ed002's Note - Or not as the case may be.}

He went from Udinese to Barcelona for 40m. Why would they sell him for 20m? Why would he join Liverpool upon other clubs? I'm sure teams like Man United, City and Chelsea will want him.

Regardless of potential transfer targets, this is going to be some young team for the future.

Personally, I can only see youngsters coming in which to be fair, won't necessarily set the league alive.

It will do for many years to come though.

Chin up kids.

Get the game...

Sing your hearts out...

And let us be optimistic.

Go 'ed!!!

DaveyBootle

Yeah I agree mate. A whole new generation of fan is going to grow up with this team and will become something really special to them.
Our generation and others will be able to watch this team grow and hopefully be able to compare them with our greatest ever teams.
either way this is the start of something very special.

People on the Arsenal rumour room suggest that Walcott is Anfield bound but that was maybe down to the press putting the Reina to Arsenal rumour up and Gooners linking this to a swap.

12 Dec 2012 20:08:10
I think the majority on this site are wrong about Sturridge and here's why:

1) "He's a Chelsea reject"

The only reason he doesn't get in the Chelsea team is because after winning the CL they signed Oscar and Hazard, who are two brilliant players. Sturridge is not as good as them, but I'm afraid players with their age and quality are unlikely to come to us. Even so he was still Chelsea's go-to attacking sub under Di Matteo. And he was a regular last season. I know they had a poor season but you know who they finished well above? Liverpool. He's leaving Chelsea because he doesn't want to be on the bench regularly, not because Chelsea are pushing him out.

2) "He's selfish"

First of all, good. If Sterling, Downing, Enrique and Suso were a bit more selfish they might have scored a few more goals this season. Secondly, most people saying this are basing it on his games this season, in which he has been very selfish, but has also been trying to outshine the players mentioned above, which isn't an easy task.

3) "There's better value out there for 12m"

Sturridge has just turned 23 and has scored 19 (and assisted 3) from just 39 PL starts since he turned 21. That's a strike rate of just under 1 in 2, despite playing under five different managers in that time. Last season Sturridge got 11 in 28 from the right of a front 3 - extend that to 38 games and you're talking roughly 15 a season. There's not many players his age who'll get that and only cost 12m.

Anyway, I personally am a fan, I used to really rate him and while he's certainly gone really off the boil recently, I think in a settled team under Rodgers' system he'll do really well. I don't expect to change anyone's mind but that's my opinion on the lad.

Red Ollie

I'm not a big fan really. I'm yet to be convinced, however if we sign him I will support him like every good fan should.
He might just happen to be the best available striker to us after all, plus he will still improve the squad a great deal.

MIKEY

I agree with all your points I think he will be an excellent signing for us!
Keatz

Hazard a top talent? Your having a laugh

Don't be bitter, if you cant see Hazard is class then your probably the one of the fans who think Fletcher is a god hybrid of Messi, Matthaüs and Romario.

Yes it is great the young lads coming through and we will have a good team in the future, but we are losing a whole generation of fans cause we are not challenging for lge r in champs lge, which in turn will be money lost cause where not doing it now,yes things look good for few years down the road but we need to be doing it now.rd

12 Dec 2012 19:33:42
Eds do you think there is any player that Liverpool could realistically get that fans wouldn't criticise before they have kicked a ball playing for Liverpool? I really can't think of anyone.. Unless its someone like assadi that no one knows so they just moan about not knowing him instead. Ah dear some of you supporters really are embarrassing

Red twist

Honda, just at a guess.

Not a hope mate are you mad!
JJ

You are forgetting that it is only very very small amount of LFC fans that actually post on this site, and most of them think they know more about football management than Kenny Dalglish, Benitez, Hodgson etc, people who have been in he game since their childhood, and made a good living from it.
Good job Shanks isn't manager now, going 6 years without a trophy, he'd have been hung drawn and quartered by some of the " knowledgeable " trolls on here.

Fact is if BR wants Sturrridge, it's because he KNOWS he's good enough for this team - and the same goes for any player he may try and buy.

John B

We could sign Messi, and people would moan that he only uses his left foot.

John B can't believe you just used the word Hodgson in the same sentence as Dalglish and Benitez..

We could sign xavi, yet all he will do is "pass sideways"

No one criticised the Suarez signing or the potential signings of mata and turan. People were spot on about these players. People didn't want Carroll Henderson Adam downing Borini and Allen was overpriced at 15m. He is good though and when compared to the rest was value for money.

Eds , this sterling contract talk for tomorrow ,have you heard anything on this. {Ed002's Note - No.}

12 Dec 2012 18:52:43
One of our transfer targets is Sturridge, and I believe he is perfect for our system. Being selfish is only another plus, because he will be willing to take a risk. Also, Suarez does the same, and he shows how good you can be if you take the risk. We dont have much pace upfront, but Sturridge will bring that to the side. Him and Sterling can bomb forward with Gerrard spraying the ball. You may all complain about the fee and his wages, but that is not your money or negotiation. If he is perfect for our Team, go out and buy him, because he has a better future with us, in comparison to Chelsea.

Piledriver

Sturridge would be a disastrous signing ... and so would Ince.

£18,000,000 for these 2 would be yet another waste of money. Liverpool's decline can be directly attributed to poor signings by a succession of Managers.

We had Hodgson targeting players like Konchesky and Poulsen, then Comolli sitting in front of a laptop looking at stats and signing overrated British players in conjunction with Kenny. Now we have Rodgers with his lower club mentality.

Oh for someone like Geoff Twentyman, who could spot a player with ability and a football brain to fit into the Liverpool system.

Rumours in London this afternoon saying Walcott has told Arsenal he wishes to leave, whether it is now or in the summer. Weger will reluctantly let him leave in Jan, but not necessarily to Liverpool as there are other suitors.
Info provided by one of my Directors who has had an Arsenal Season Ticket for 23 years, not sure if it is completely accurate, but he does Know a lot of people at the club.

Why are Spurs always linked with big name signings and we are not ? There income can't be anywhere near liverpool yet Daniel Levy always tries to bring in top class players. Where is our Diamao and Moutinho interest? We should be aiming higher instead of settling for average {Ed002's Note - Over the past three years Liverpool have spent something like £60M (net) on transfers more than Spurs. Spurs income is indeed less than Liverpool - proving that it is how you spend the money that makes the difference.}

Spot on Ed002 - what LFC are lacking is a strong leader like Daniel Levy, his football savvy and can negotiate well! What have we got couple of rich Americans who struggle to understand our beautiful game and Ian Ayre as there yes man!

I hope Brendan Rodgers takes control this transfer window but having said that managers are notorious for pitting players on massive wages and contracts.

NS

And exactly what have Spurs won recently?

They have finished higher than LFC in the league after a lot less spend!

They've also suffered humiliating losses- 5-1 against City, a couple 5-2's against Arsenal that clearly show while they can finish above us, they have no hope of actually winning anything of significance. They may be finishing above us but we're getting there. We have problems but atleast we have the motivation and spirit to prevent maulings on that scale...

this time last year all the talk was of Jelovic coming in from Rangers and fans kept saying we dont want him he isent good enough so we dident get him and surprise surprise he has done really well. Is it me or is the same thing happening with Sturidge, dashavoo id say this boy is a bit selfish but he scores goal and the only reason Chelki are not using him because he has been injured. Instead of complaining lets all get behind Brendan Rogers and the team and back whatever the manager does. with a bit of luck 4th place is possible.

I think sturridge is good buy if he is willing to work hard put goals in now then don't see why not give the lad a chance

How exactly do we all know Sturridge is a spoiled selfish brat? Because last season he wouldn't pass to Torres?! Why the hell would anyone pass to Torres last season when he fluffed every chance! Couldn't even score against an empty net vs Utd. And the only basis for him being selfish is that he plays for Chelsea, but they're also a highly ambitious club so why would a player not want huge wages when they are available? Clearly he's willing to agree a reasonable wage if the deal is "nearly tied up" as some of you claim... Get some sense. We aren't getting Falcao or Cavani or I doubt even Sanchez.

If you fans feel we need sturridge and ince right now..then I think you are jumping on the rodgers bandwagon too early..you keep saying we are 4points of fourth not because of how well we have played but the other teams dropping points what of we loose next week then you guys are back to rodgers out again..they say we can't attract good players..who told you so??are you telling me liverpool can only buy players like downing, henderson, carroll, borini, allen, ince e.t.c..there are better foreign players out there who would improve our squad immediately..they say FSG don't have money..that's just rubbish..rodgers wasted 30m on potential..that's why we are struggling.. now after anticipating january we go after sturridge and ince. if sturridge was so good then he would at least be coming on from the bench regularly...I rather we promote ibe than buy ince. This are players we have been slating now cos we are after them you guys are saying they are good enough..tell me how rodgers signings have been better than kenny's.its still our older players taking responsibility not those new players.if you want to win trophies fine, but if you want to continue nuturing english players that's fine with you guys not me...no insults pls am entitled to my opinion

Sturridge is awful cant get a game at chelsea, another waste of money. would make downing look like good business!

Change the record mate, same old crap off the same old fans who seem to know it all, get behind the manager I'm pretty sure he knows a lot more about football than any of us who come on this site.. I for one trust BR to get it right, we've lost one of our last 11 league games and we battered spuds in the game we lost, it's plain to see we're improving all the time, I feel confident going into games these days for the first time in years, get behind the lads instead of being so negative all the time!
JJ

No its because we have only lost 1 game in the last 11

We are supporting our manager because we believe in him and his vision

How about being positive? I know some fans who want to see BR and FSG fail because they want Rafa and a rich arab to take control of the club

The team will be somewhat broken up if it fails to reach Champions League, through us getting are players poached away. Juventus don't even seem to care that Luis is a Liverpool employee. Well guys, we have 5 very winnable games in 17 days starting saturday, I really think we could take all 15 points with the only tricky one being away to Stoke City Rugby Club. Obviously no game is easy in the Premier League but if we're aspiring to climb up towards where we belong, these next 5 games are very important. I'm feeling confident that we can and will get the results we want. Hopefully BR will rest Stevie a little bit and start Sahin at some point. Please ignore the lousy trolls and whiners on the site, their only trying to cause doubt and unrest amongst us because they can see that the Reds are rising again. Faith, optimism and confidence can go a long way.

phillyred

15 points would be fantastic ... That would mean 7 game win streak, which seems overly optimistic given our calendar 2012 run. Ideally we get 10+ points over the next 5 games.

Think we should expect to win all the home games if we really want to be competitive but the away games will be tricky. QPR will come good with Redknapp in charge and we all know what Stoke are like, they are my most hated team of all time!

What does Rodgers see in Sturridge? Selfish, wild shots, poor close control, poor decision maker, a future star of a small pub team

He would add much needed pace, stretching teams, giving Suarez more room to operate in. If he comes give him a chance.

Not a chance, I don't want Sturridge anywhere near the club, a transfer fee of somewhere between 12-14m fee and with him looking for 80k a week, there has to better business out there. BR don't do it man, it will cost the club too much for too little in return

Mako

The only people with smiles on there faces will be opposing fans laughing at us. 15 milionl is alot of money to spend on a bench warmer, and will not score 20 goals a season.

12 Dec 2012 18:32:57
He can't be worse than Borini, Caroll mate.

Can i just ask a question..

Aimed at the people who clearly think Sturridge would be the worst signing in Liverpools history

Who do you genuinely expect to join Liverpool this January?

Cavani? Neymar? Gerd Muller?

Your entitled to your opinions, be it a very fickle and imagintaive one..

Ever thought of being realistic though?

Sturridge is realitic, like it or loath it and i think at the right price he would be a good signing for Liverpool

Not the for £15m everybody is talking about.. Chelsea wont get that for Sturridge..

Hes a good player, hes young and personally i dont see what all the fuss is about..

Apples '96

I have to say, on the balance of things I have to agree. However, he has to be able to improve - if his ego is too big, as some say it is, then he may be a risk. I doubt if anyone posting here knows what sort of person he really is, and if he can be coached to improve his play. Let's hope that whoever's job it is to find these things out is good at their job. If he is willing and eager to learn, and no prima donna, I personally think he could do well. Just my opinion.

Nick

If we rejected all players likely to be selfish or posess an ego we'd have a very short list of transfer targets. Theyre footballers who've been told they're the dogs nuts all their lives.

If Sturridge joins and scores 15 league goals in his first 2 seasons we're happy and 12m looks dirt cheap. Bent 24m? Carroll 35m? Dzeko 24m? I could go on.

Its not about the price but if you are to compare how about these Strikers and what they cost:

Newcastle - Cisse - £9m
Swansea - Michu - £2m
Everton - Jealvic - £5m
Southhampton - Lambert - £1m

There are strikers out there that are good value for money! if LFC pay £12m-£15m for Sturridge we had had our pants pulled down again.

NS

12 Dec 2012 16:35:28
Sturridge wouldn't be a terrible signing as some seem to presume. In fact i think he is hugely under appreciated at Chelsea and thus under valued as a player. He can take on a player, he can beat most centre backs for pace and he's confident on the one vs ones. He's an unused but very good striker who wants a club that need him and will play him.

I think most mobile and quick strikers would thrive next to Suarez with his movement and vision, whether it's Walcott, Sturridge or someone else. We've seen Sterling do well when up front with Suarez and that's not even his natural position.

I think Borini will make an impact for us, he's a jack in the box and his runs are almost masterful, he still needs time playing to get settled and for his positioning to be fine tuned but he's going to be top class in time i believe, he became very important to Roma in a short space of time and they used him in an advanced midfield role at times.

I also think that we've got more chance of losing Skrtel, Agger, Reina, Suarez and Johnson than brining in Champions League players, like some seem to think. If we haven't got Champions League sorted by the end of the Season, then get ready to wave Suarez and co off.

12 Dec 2012 17:00:13
Mate I doubt sturridge will link well with Suarez infact I'm worried he will coz big problems for us. He doesn't know meaning of pass and has big ego and thinks he is already a star. Just hope he and Suarez could bond good relationship

I'm not Sturridge's biggest fan, but doesn't Suarez sometimes shoot wide when he should have passed to a team mate? This hasn't stopped me thinking we have one of the best strikers around, playing for us at the moment and maybe, Sturridge could be just as prolific for us, with a little coaching that is.

Keith

12 Dec 2012 16:48:30
Mate Arsenal are not in any trouble infact they are one of the best run club in europe. The problem is like every American owner is that they are more interested in making money then team success. Arsenal tickets are more expensive in world and make more money from sponsors and their new stadium Emitates but as usual owners neglet football side and focus on bussiness side which badly is hurting Arsenal interms of pitch success.

That's a great perspective on Americans. Exactly why Man Utd get most of their targets. And exactly why the English Premier League spends the most on transfers during most windows and the majority of club owners are American. Good job, your prejudices really invite a huge market full of opportunities to support LFC.

Only for fsg LFC might not exist right now

I hope Brendan isn`t thinking of wasting millions of pounds on loan signings in January, players need time to not only get used to the pace of the Prem but also fit into BR`s style of play,
look at Sahin, it cost millions to get him in on loan and he`s know where near what we all were all hoping, by the time he`s ready his loan will be finished,
i`m not a big fan of walcott but he knows the league and used to the style of play as arsenal play a similar way plus you never know he may turn out to be a great CF
I`d rather take a punt on him, if he would come, than some waste of millions loan signings

Michel owen played for us..and then choosed UTD...
they are sitting top and are looking for Title this year...Walcott will never win anything this year with arsenal nor us..so its better you warm the bench or be an substitute which he is already with arsenal..and have some medals under your kitty...

Owen didn't have the choice of returning to us. United offered him a contract, he took it. You can't compare Owen to Walcott.

Also, someone like Walcott will want game time, and lots of it. He also wants to play up front, so why would he go to United? Seriously, 'I really wanna play up top, hmmm, where should I go...UNITED, OF COURSE! They need another player to go alongside RVP, Rooney, Welbeck and Hernandez!'

Your telling me you'd rather be at a team you don't support to warm a bench just to win medals you kind of don't deserve due to you haven't played. Them kind of players are money grabbing fickle people.
If he is a true fan, (this transfer is utterly up to himself) he would want to come here and put hard work in to win medals. Players who take a easy ride at a club infuriate me.

Rodgers will keep Suarez as a central striker..

Wide players will be looked at in January

If we do move for Sturridge he will be pushed out on the right of a 4-3-3.

Biggest indication for me that our pursuit of Walcott may have come to a end before its even started!

Apples '96'

Thats the most sense ive heard for a while on here!

I always knwew...coz since suarez started to hit form..it was a matter of getting the front three..possibole on right..
walcott will never join us on this criteria..
he wants central role..or hige money and medals..
so his options are UTD and City..

12 Dec 2012 13:48:38
Are Carrick & Fletcher world class or is it that they fit into their managers style of play? How many world class players are needed to win the league. Man City have to prove that they deserve to be league champions because they have only won the league once (by goal average in injury time) but so has Blackburn. Look at their champs league record. Chelsea, anyone? Slodge

Carrick and Fletcher and sooooooo over rated its unbelievable.

FowlerGod.

I think it's more to do with having that belief that you will always score to win. Mentality is VERY underrated. Manchester United, whilst not having the greatest of teams, always have that belief that they will score a goal to win. That is something that the manager has installed in them. Also, the amount of times they come back from being behind gives them confidence that they can do anything.

BthekingB

Rooney is such a versatile player...that he creates something from almost nothing..
he is striker, play maker and everything..
UTD always had pace on the flanks..and Sirl Alex always had atleast 4 strikers who could bang goals from anywhere...
their defence is also solid...
we have a bunch of midfielders...but no real goalscorers nor creators...and thats the difference...

Rooney is massively overrated

Hey eds I'm really confused about something Thomas Ince wasn't the reason we sold him because of his and his dad's attitude towards the club and by that I mean they where both bigger then the club and Paul wanted his son to be on mega wages because he was the future of any club I'm just concerned if we brought him back what sort of message does that send out to our current youth squad (stamp your feet and threaten to leave and we'll give you what) the example where setting to the likes of sterling who himself is stalling on a new contract over wages must be sat laughing in his boots bye far the brightest footballer we have produced since Gerrard is sat their with his agent on the phone telling the likes of x,y & z to say this and that about his player just so Liverpool buckle over wage demands. I have forgotten the days we all went to watch players play for the shirt and not the money

ramythered {Ed001's Note - I think I should explain something, he didn't want mega wages, he wanted first team wages and first team football. He is now at Blackpool on a much lower amount, but it is a similar amount to that paid to their first team players and he is playing regular first team football. It wasn't totally about money as such.}

Ed..tell me y are we brinig him back?
what and which position is he gonna solve in our team??

Ed..tell me y are we brinig him back?
what and which position is he gonna solve in our team?? {Ed019's Note - He's a pacy winger}

Thanx eds dosn't seem to bad to bring him back now haha do you think he's worth a second chance {Ed019's Note - Yes, imo he would improve the current squad and would add depth}

Can anybody tell me why people say "havn't Liverpool learnt their lesson buying overhyped english player look at Downing etc?"
Sorry, but since when have english all players been the same? How can anybody judge the sucess or failure of a signing based on his and previous players nationalitys?
Veron-terrible. Mascherano-brilliant-Tevez-brilliant-Augero-Brilliant.
I'm sure i could list more but you get the point?
Sturridge is not Carroll. Ince is not Downing, okay?
People need to deal with this.
WelshBoyDave

Thank you!
derryred

Exactly! Is Gerrard overrated?! He's freaking English and he's the face of our club!! British players such as Fowler, Dalglish, Owen, Carragher, the list goes on and on! But let's face it, that's the term the press use so it's the phrase most ignorant fans will use also.

12 Dec 2012 12:43:25
The only player lfc will sign is sturridge.
Josh (the chubb) Carter

12 Dec 2012 12:03:05
I don't understand how people can have problems against the fact that sturridge may come, yes we could buy huntelaar but where will he play striking position,

so not going to happen because we have arguably the best striker of the entire premier league. Why not sturridge?
-He can play on the flank
-He's still a great talent
-Already knows the English football style
-Won't cost so much
-he's great with his feet
-he can head
-he's a clinical finisher (the single thing we sometimes need)
-he's actually interested in coming to us
-he'll fit in the style of play
-In the start of the season 2011-2012 he was the best player Chelsea had completely overplayin anybody on the pitch (including Mata)
-And the most important he will do good in the box, you know the one single place where only one of our players can create room

So please stop whining about one of football's greatest talents rumoured to us. The truth is that we can't buy a lot of players but if we manage to bring him in.
I know i'll be a happy man.

Belgian Red

Totally agree, look at what he done at Bolton and Chelsea when given the chance. I reckon he would be perfect.

Haha "One of Footballs Greatest Talents" - can I have some of what you are taking!

If he plays on the flank he wont be spending much time in the box doing his great finishing with his wonderful feet.... please think about it!

He is also payed a huge amount
he is greedy
he really isnt one of footballs greatest talents, but he is good
huddz red
p.s i would prefer walcott

He is a selfish blue....never loves our club..rather just wanna score some goals and pick a berth in england starting eleven..
will enevr understand our project and our club....
he plays horrible..and worst..was not even in the chelsea squad when torres was awful..what impact is he gonna make in liverpool

He does cost alot if you consider the wages he asks for.. And his attitude is poor.

He is obviously a decent player, but what stops him from being a top quality player is his selfishness and wastefulness. He will also expect to play as a striker and his salary isn't cheap.

Disney!

Brendan will have fun sorting out Sturridge's attitude. He will not stand the dressing room atmosphere being upset. Also Sturridge will have to work harder than ever on the pitch. No lazy players will be tolerated. aklfc

I personally like him as a player, but not a 15 million, 80k a week player. We have made too many mistakes recently by splashing cash on players. Funds are not what they have been, so I am sure we could spend it more wisely.

I noticed you said "clinical finisher", look at his goals per game ratio, it`s not good, you may argue he`s played out of position but he certainly isn`t "clinical" and he is not the answer for us, can`t see how he can improve our team

Just a quick one boys and girls...

You all need to get off the club's and managers backs, and try to embrace the changes that are happening and the new signings we make...

Rodgers is doing an outstanding job with the squad he has, and with a few tweaks we can solidify a european push...

Daniel Sturridge is a good player and Rodgers might well be the man to get the best out of him.... He has good feet, scores goals, can play anywhere across the front free, is young, and is English... At £12m i don't see that much of a gamble.

One thing is for sure, people need to get behind him if he comes, and stop acting like spoilt brats.

The only spoilt brat is the Lad Sturridge hes proved that by his demands, work ethic and his instant demand to play as the main Striker!

Its not a gamble its a waste have we not learnt from Downing, Cole and Aquilani.

NS

You forgot the main thing - his rubish hi can't get a game at chealsea! And they only got him and torres, how havend scored for years

do you rate sturridge?
hearing of a loan move for downing and cole.. no chance of just getting rid of them?

Every one is linking us with players and who is supposed to leave. My question is this. If Rodgers says our squad is thin and he needs to sell to make his kitty bigger, wouldnt our squad still be thin if he do that.IMO he needs to buy what he can with the funds available and keep whoever we have, until he gets more money to spend

He has never once stated he needs to sell to make the kitty bigger. he has said on many occassions that the squad is thin and ins are more important then outs. I would be very surprised to see many players leaving in Jan!

Rogers has not said this.. He said he will be looking to make a couple of additions with no one leaving in jan. if someone does end up leaving I expect us to replace them also.

SideShowBob

12 Dec 2012 11:16:27
Rodgers is only leading us to midtable mediocrity..when you see what he brought in and who he's been linked with, then you know what to expect this season..borini allen sturridge and ince can never ever push us to make top4.they can push us to make europa league every season..the sooner rodgers goes the better..we say we want to improve our squad but he are still relying heavily on those players who have been there before..none of his signings have improved our squad in anyway..I rather we spend the 18m on just one quality foreign player than spread it across on sturridge and ince..

Your thinking doesnt work we are in need of more then just one quality player. How is just one quality player going to take us into a top 4 finish. go support someone else as if you cant support a team during the hard times you sure as hell dont deserve to support them during the good times!

Well arent you a lovely ray of sunshine? We are four points of top four and we still have so called fans like you with their daggers out! Were you bullied at school or something? Do us a favour pal and jog on with you negative carp, your probsbly nothing more than a manc running his poxy mouth! Do one!

Ian the red

And who is exactly linking us with the players being mentioned? - could it possibly be the British sports media - a most reliable source ( NOT ).

We have been mediocre as far as results are concerned since the waiter began our demise.

If you get your wish - can you think of another manager that will come in and do a better job with minimal funds to spend.

John B

Maybe Rodgers is trying to buy what we can attract at the moment?
There's no way Villa, Sanchez, Cavani, Messi etc. will join us while we're where we are in the table.
He needs 'B Level' players at the minute, to help us push towards where we want to be.
Once we break into the top 4 and solidify our status there, we will surely look to better players.
In return, they will be more likely to opt for Anfield again.
Not always as simple as this, granted, but makes a lot more sense than the s*** you've just written!

...& then that player gets injured or loses form? In terms of you wishing Rodgers would go, it's supporters like you who I wish would go. You too scared to even put a name to your tripe.

dd

Hes just trying to steady the spending benitez spent like a drunken sailor as did commoli lots of crap players on top money like joke hole for e.g we need to find cheap talent like everton do and rodgers will have to do that its hard todo that with a kitty full of the owners cash.

What a loads of rubbish your spouting. I think he is doing a good job and i think i speak for most Reds aswell, 4 points off 4th a few bad decisions and silly mistakes to cost us garunteed points Man city, everton etc. Go support someone else, no true fan.

Some one says..we need B level players..
can u guarantee these B leve players can push us into Top 4?
MONEY is the only thing which made city in top flight..and rest of our life..they wont come back...
MONEY made chelsea in Top flight..sure they wont come down...
MONEY made real, barca..different from valencia, bilabao.etc..
we dont have money..and wen we had...we blewed in atlantic ocean..

John B, you're an ungrateful person. The waiter began our demise? Have abit of respect for what he did for the club, fans n city. Supporters like u are an embarrasment to LFC

Do not disrespect rafa benitez. the young players coming through our reserves and academy now, owe their development to rafa, segura and borell. aklfc

Ok, so for now it looks like Sturridge and Ince to arrive in January but still think we will go for Walcott too.

Still a bit iffy about Sturridge but would be happy with Walcott. Both are attacking players who can play out wide and as a striker and with Borini returning soon we will have plenty of options for our front three.

Only thing with Ince is that he left us because he wanted to be a first team regular (his dad wanted it for him too). Will he get that if he had to come back though?

I hope you crash and burn rodgers,we are trying to get rid of those mediocre english players, and you still want to bring in more..how can you say we want to challenge for top 4 and you go after ince and sturridge..for what reason??so what do our scouts do for christ sake..if they do come I hope rodgers gets the sack at the end of the season..chelsea have one striker and still want to sell sturridge what does that tell you.how can we even be thinking of ince..pls we.want to win trophies brendan not solidify ourselves as a midtable team..he has come with is mid table mentality to liverpool now he is buying midtable players with potential..we won't win anything if he continues to be in charge of transfers

Why don't you go find another team to support. We do not need 'fans' like you.

Red4life

You start off with " I hope you crash and burn rodgers " Your no fan of LFC because no fan of ours or any other club would want their team to " crash and burn " as you so eloquently put it. And tool of the day goes to: this unnamed poster!

Almost every sentence had me holding my face in my hands wishing we could have some sort of vetting process that if a comment such as this gets more than 15 Disagrees he gets put on the 'Bad List', followed up yet again with another 15 Disagrees then he gets demoted to the Chelsea page with the rest of the persons.

JFT 96

Little bit sick of posters being told to 'support someone else', or 'you're no fan of ours', just because they've stated their opinion.
This is a site where opinions and comments are supposed to be exchanged, hence the title 'banter'.
Whether or not you agree with what's been previously said, it gives you no right to ridicule someone and their support for our club.
I get that some people write s*** and others couldn't string a coherent sentence together if their life depended on it, but who are you to tell them to walk away from us?
Happens far too much on this site.
For what it's worth, I think the original poster's comment is very negative and a little knee-jerk like, but he does have a point potentially.

Liverpool FC is a football club.and we should be intellegent supporters..not mere crazy fans...

You're an person. As a fan, u should never want a LFC manager to crash n burn. Guess what, our best ever player maybe, Gerrard is wait for it..............english

You're not a Liverpool supporter amyways so why are you so worried about OUR club?

Many thanks

Shak Attack

IRISH RED - Sturridge is a goal scorer, and he's proven to be, he's been used intermittently but when he has a run of games he's effective. Also, what has Ince's sale got to do with this? He was sold under different management, if Rodgers sees something he likes in him then why wouldn't he bring him back? A decision to sell a player under a previous manager shouldn't hinder a new manager if he feels it would be beneficial to the team to bring said player back to the club.

I fully understand and acknowledge why people have doubts over Sturridge, but to say 'he isn't the answer' and 'we'll go nowhere' etc just comes across as naive to me, he also has the propensity to help us leapfrog teams and get us into the top 4. I suppose it's just a case of trusting BR, which I do, and posters saying stuff like 'I hope you crash and burn' regarding our manager is less an opinion and more just an insulting jibe at a manager who, I think, has brought us very well with the situation he's been handed.

JFT 96

JP

Crash and burn ! right fella we will respect a plonker like him NOT!

Put it this way jp it all boils down to money been spent ,how much is spent ,& how well its spent,,now if u think sturridge & ince are the quality we need& are value for money ,then ur head is in the clouds,,put it this way if those two players were foreign players they would not be banded about at 18 to 20mil for both & guess what we probably wouldnt be interested in them ,just two more over hyped & over priced english players,,iwould rather play IBE&ASSIADI than waste that kind of money

Suarez, Sturridge and Walcott up front, no out and out striker. Totally fluid front line with all the players having a go in all positions along the front line. That's the way I see it happening.

Gazza

I see Suarez, Sturridge, Ince, Borini and Sanchez.
Not all at the same time of course

Walcott is going to Man Utd.

I wouldn't mind Sturridge and Sanchez

Neither Walcott nor Sturridge want to play either side of Suarez. Fluid or not fluid they want the main Strikers role which they cant get at their current clubs - which says a lot because we want to be competing with Arsenal and Chelsea then we shouldn't be choosing players they deem not good enough for a role the player believes they can do.

Sturridge will be another expensive mistake in a long line of expensive mistakes for LFC recently including, Downing, Cole, Aquilani, Poulsen, Doni, Babel - I could go on!

the same could be said for Walcott but I believe he works harder than Sturridge and his hard work would really be enhanced by Rodgers.

Now Sanchez, Sterling and Suarez sounds exciting to me!

Just a thought. I think we have realised the reason Assaidi hasn't played much is because Rodgers is still getting him used to English football. With Sahin under performing and not getting much game time, is Rodgers doing the same with him so they're ready for the second half of the season?

Thoughts?

RedSpud

Personally i don't think Assaidi is good enough, it may be because it's a new league but he does a step over e.t.c which makes people thinks he's doing something, but no real end product, i made a point of counting his passing e.t.c around the final 3rd v young boys, he gave the ball away everytime around the box which was 5 missed placed passes and two crosses which were way to high for anyone.

As for Sahin personally i don't think he's been bad, 3 goals and while Lucas was out was playing a bit defensive and simple, which he went a bit unnoticed, were he is usually a deep lying playmaker.

But as you said both could be learning the league and i really want Assaidi to come good because we haven't had a real skillful attacker for god know's how long.

G BOX

When ronaldo 1st went to man utd all you really saw was a stepover/double stepover, a drag back or a flick. then ferguson got him to understand his job and to add work rate and end product.
you'd expect rodgers is doing the same with assaidi.
it takes time for players to take it on board, but you can see most of the squad are learning and adapting, you only have to look at the tactical development of henderson of late.

s.p

You can't really say he's not good enough when hes still yet to play 90 minutes and only played a hand full of games.

FowlerGod.

"Personally i don't think Assaidi is good enough ..."
That's just an opinion and it counts for zero as do your comments.
Managers don't listen to people like you (or me) when they make a call for a player.
I don't know your background and it probably wouldn't affect my judgement on your comment if I did - the pubs and buses are full of people like you telling the world and his dog this player isn't all that and this one is rubbish.
Your entitled to an opinion and that's what it is.

What about his assist for sahins goal v Norwich I think. Unreal ball played in by him. He reminds me of a young Bellamy. Just needs more games

Walcott to Man U.

Its just fergie doing his usual, trying to bump up the price for LFC

Walcott will not be moving to utd unless he waits out his contract till june and then he can go anywhere he wants provided they want him , wenger will try and sell him in january for whatever he can get so maybe if the price is right he willl end up at anfield but goal getter he is not .

LFC has spent lots on players who don't make it at the top level. This window they should consider quality even if it mean just one or two signings. They already have talented players who have shown great promise. We need an attacking midfielder and a striker in my opinion to propel the squad for the reminder of the season. Results have to change from draws to wins.
FSG should only consider quality signings, we are sick and tired of signings that are being used to warm the bench. Our youngsters are good enough to do that. A top quality goal scorer and an attacking midfielder of the highest quality. The names that are going round now will be mediocre class. We also need to get rid of dead wood being paid huge wages for warming the bench and freezing funds to develop the team into a winning squad. Most of the problems have been inherited, but we need to be brave enough to change the business front this window.

How do you know what a quality signing is until he's played for us? Shevchenko, Veron, Morientes, Robbie Keane and more recently Adam Johnson. All guaranteed quality on paper, right? Or should we go for someone less known like certain teams did with Michu or Hernandez? My point is that there are no proven quality players........just some with better odds to succeed than others

Eds,

Looks like we are genuinely interested in bringing in Sturridge and Tom Ince, since Guardian also reported the same news. Your opinion on this Eds?

Another one, is it true that Liverpool interested to buy Alexis Sanchez, instead on loan options. You got any info on this Eds? I think buying Sanchez alone we already cover both winger & striker position.

Appreciate your feedback on this Eds.

Both Brendan Rodgers and Alex Ferguson have said in interviews that you need to be scoring between 70 and 80 goals in a season to be up there competing for the title

Thank about for a second. Now ask yourself how many goals we have in our team?

Suarez can chip in lets say 20...maybe another 20 from the rest of the team and thats being generous. So lets say thats 35 goals we have in our squad

Football is a game based on scoring the most goals, plain and simple Redmen.

Sturridge will add around 15 to 20 a season when played regularly. That takes it to 45 goals.

If we manage to get walcott aswell thats another 15 to 20....that'll be around the 65 goal mark

Throw in a couple more from the likes of ince, etc the. We WILL be up there.

Sturridge may not sound as classy if his name was Sturrinho or something but all I care about is scoring goals and Sturridge will get in the box and score no question anout that, watch him play, he's always making runs into the box and at the far posts when a cross comes in he's HUNGRY to score

IF and WHEN he puts on that iconic red shirt how about we give him a FAIR crack of the whip and support him and see if he scores goals

If he scores us 15-20 a season, you know...i may even start to like his silly dance

C'mon Redmen, the good days are coming back i can feel it

Support and have faith in BR

4 points off top 4 with one of (if not THE) youngest team in the PL

Sturridge played 30 times for Chelsea and got 11 goals, so i'm not sure why you think he will add 15-20 goals and Walcott, when none of them have ever done it before...

So with all those strikers playing regularly to score that many goals, what would be our formation be, 2-4-4 perhaps, never knew defending was so easy. The thing is that midfielders needs to contribute to the goal tally, not only strikers, we just need a few more goals from our midfield and not that many forwards

20+20 = 35 and 35 + 15/20 = 45?

You need some math lessons buddy.

Good points mate, but they won't all play together,so the chances of them hitting the 15 goal mark each would be quite slim.
This year,i think defensive solidity is key,we are not going to be scoring 3 goals a game like last weekend.
It was brilliant to see us come from behind and even better that we made a huge mistake and so did the ref and we still won, maybe Rodgers is right and our luck is changing?

Just stating what BR and SAF said in interviews Brisbane...unless u know kore than them about football? o_O and also how likely is it youll win every game one nill and keep a clean sheet in every game? Thats just ridiculous, i also worry for the amount of people that clicked agree on ur reply

And seriously guys some of you are slow LOL i said 20 goals from suarez and 20 goals from the rest of the team "and thats being generous so lets say thats 35 goals" can u lot not read? LOL i took off 5 goals to even it up a bit

70-80 goals will have us up there and players like sturridge will increase our goals tally. Simples

And besides even if i did make a slight mathmatical error LOL you lot are missing a perfectly sound point in this post...

22 year old argentine CB Mateo Musacchio from Villarreal £7m.

Mauro Zarate for £7.5m (third choice after walcott and sturridge)

as well as a Fabio Guagliarella on loan

Assiaidi was on my flight today, I was going to ask his autograph but we got him stuck in Manchester instead of Liverpool at silly o clock in the morning because of the fog and I was a bit embarrassed.
Sorry mate you seem like a top bloke. Lol

BR has been given a moderate kitty for January - he has targets, but some players will be shipped out by the summer- a high profile signing has also been targeted.

Don't expect too many signings tho -
offers have been made for two players and one loan - hold on to your hats in Jan..... It will get tricky.

Chelsea have been struggling to score goals in recent months and Sturridge still didn't get into the first team.

If he was any use (or worth 12 million) wouldn't he be at least getting his game occasionally? He doesn't even make it off the bench

Kinda makes me sick to think Michu cost 2 million and we're gonna be getting Sturridge in for 12

my take on sturridge

he has a cool head in front of goal, evidence suggests that when he plays regularly he scores goals. he can play wide , he can play central.

i know he s not cavani damiao or other dreamland strikers

but he could bang in a lot of goals for us

people say eh s selfish, i think this happens to strikers who dont play regularly, they tend to want some glory when they get time on the field...with more game time i think he ll play the right options

just my thoughts...i think for where we are right now he s kind of ideal.

suarez needs others to chip in with goals esp the wide forwards and sturridge will bring goals

for 12million its a no brainer

Well..the sturridge ince rumours are heating up..but I can't understand our obsession with english players..sturridge I can accept cos he is better than what we have, say he is stingy and arrogant is fine, but don't deny the fact he would improve our squad but spending 12m on him to me is rubbish..ince I can't understand we have been all about promoting.our young players..why spend 6m on a 19yr old..I rather we first take our chances with what we have..its obvious his goal ratio won't be the same if he comes..this kind of players would mostly leave our wingbacks exposed cos they never track back..if they do come, then rodgers is out of depth..borini,allen,sturridge,ince=44m..WOW

And what if they do come and are successful? Is he still out of his depth? I am not saying this will happen however if you pay 6m for a 19 year old and sell him for 20m at 27, is that good business?

Andy K

I agree with you. I rather give Jordan Ibe opportunity to break than spend 6 mil on Ince. After all Ibe is 17 now and Ince is 21. Absolutely doesn't make sense to buy Ince as Ibe is already better than him.
