If salah goes regardless if we sign anyone else that squad will be fully exposed. Doesn't look like we really want a top CB, gravenberch would be a waste of money and no ones replacing what salah currently gives us. Can't see us signing mbappe. If he goes it will be a struggle to finish top 6.

We can't get a CB cos we need one to leave first to make space in the squad. That isn't going to happen cos Klopp says no more departures, according to Ed02 cos I specifically asked him this question. I want a CB too but what can I do?

The squad is fine (although I would like an upgrade in defence) . It’s the tactics that suck. Sorry I know Iv been singing this tune for nearly a year now.

The squad isn’t fine. We lack depth and this will bite us by Xmas unless we get a couple more in. The defence situation is a mess. Does anyone actually know our preferred formation? Really hope Klopp does.

the only area I think we are thin is midfield. and even then, one CM in will be fine. Everywhere else we are well stocked.

RR. We have the best keeper in the world, a great up and comer and a third choice experienced backup.
We have fullbacks on both sides that led the way (until the Change in tactics) with assists in world football plus international standard cover and multiple youth prospects on both sides.
We have 4 senior CB’s, including our premier league winning partnership which appear to be getting back to near their best form, plus an aerially dominant back up and a promising youth prospect.
We have an experienced international captain at DM and a very promising youth prospect there also, 4 young and talented CMs plus one of the most technically gifted midfielders in world football.
We have 5 top class forwards including the best goal scoring and chance creating winger/ inside forward in world football plus a great prospect in Doak.

I’m not saying there isn’t room for improvement, but this is a far cry from the distinct lack of quality in the squad that was present when Klopp first took charge. There is not a football team in the world that would not have their first 11 improved by some of the talent we have available. This squad should be challenging for every trophy every year, no excuses. That we dud not last season is down to the shoddy tactics buts that’s just my opinion, each to their own I suppose. We are not a full rebuild away from being back to one of the best in the world, just playing to the strengths of what we have available, strengths that are very considerable and it it is that lack of efficiency that frustrates me. Peace.

{Ed025's Note - wow, talk about over egging your team Westwood, heres my take for what its worth, you have a decent side with a few excellent players and a bit of dutch elm as well, you will be up there but not likely to be challenging for the title anytime soon...sorry if the truth hurts mate..

Doesn't hurt in the slightest Ed025, because that's how I see it, I don't think anything I have said is incorrect and I stand by it. Oddly though I sort of agree that we have decent players supported by some world class ones, but our strength was always the tactics being as such to get the best out of the players, regardless of their 'natural ability'. What makes a decent player? Is a decent player a great one that wins nothing in a poor team (i. e Kane) or an average one that plays in a strong cohesive unit that plays to their strengths and wins everything (i. e. Henderson) .
I don't think anything I have said is wrong. Ali is the best GK in the world and I don't think I need to explain that one. What I said about our CB's is accurate. Nothing incorrect about what I said about our midfield. No way Trent and Robertson are the best FB's in the world but that's not what I said. I said they led the way with assists in world football, which they did. Name me a a winger with more goal involvements that Salah over the last 2 years? Which of our 5 forwards that are all internationals and regularly scoring goals in the hardest league in the world is not top class?
Each to their own of course, ultimately I just have a different opinion to you, but I won't make excuses for the team I love just because I support them. I believe this team should be challenging on all fronts and I think the only reason they didn't last year was the tactics.
