Have to say, Curtis Jones has been brilliant the last few games. As has Trent and Gakpo. 3 really bright sparks. Great to see Diaz back and firing again too (the emotion on his face was an absolute joy to watch) . Also pleased Salah's put his penalty hoodoo to bed sooner rather than later.

Negatives though, Konate, Virgil and Robbo are all over the place in this new system. On the 1st goal Konate charged out of position, Virgil over commited on the winger and then Robertson decided to mark nobody instead of Harry Kane. Rookie errors. On the 2nd goal Konate is 5 yards higher than Virgil and Robbo which allowed Son to stroll in. Virgil has to be organising that line better, and Konate has to read the game better. Scenarios like these happened several times and Spurs could've had 6 if Alisson hadn't made some outstanding saves. Their 3rd goal is just a silly foul from Milner and a jammy header that bounced over Ali. But the first 2 were worrying. Let's hope that the defence is worked on in the summer in terms of both tactics and recruitment.

The good news is that was probably the toughest game we had left this season and by hook or crook, we came through the challenge with all 3 points. 5th place is ours to lose now and to be fair a few weeks ago when we were 9th i'd have bitten your hand off for Europa League Football next season. It would not be good for sponsorship purposes or attracting players if we'd fallen out of Europe entirely.

Also, love Klopp's passion. A yellow card and a torn hammy from the dugout is some going! I am hypocrite because Arteta and Pep wind me up when they do it, but Jurgen is our guy!

I always thought there was a player in jones, I would've thought he would've progressed quicker than he has, although he has been v unlucky with injuries. it right that he has been given good run at it now to prove himself.
Yeah defensively we awful but we've been awful defensively virtually all season. Big positive is how many goals where scoring. gakpo+ jota playing v well.

Love Jones and think he’s been good last few games but still think he can improve a lot. He has all the tools to make it but has to be braver on the ball and more direct. He has the skill to beat a player and drive
Through the middle which neither Hendo or Fab have so we need him to do it more often.

Elliot on the other hand, way too lightweight to play in the middle. Cannot handle a press back to goal
As doesn’t have the strength to keep the ball. Don’t know why Klopp persists in playing him.

MK, second goal could also be seen as Virgil and robbo were 5 yards too deep.
If they played the line same as konate then son would have been flagged offside.
Even if konate was in line with the other two, Son would most probably still have gone on to score.
Agree that Virgil should be organising the back line better, but does he have it in him anymore.

I agree on the gakpo Trent and especially Curtis points, he’s been excellent. Also great to see Diaz back. On the Trent point. He should just play midfield, the back 3 have no idea what they are at because Trent is with them sometimes and not others. I get he supposed to switch when we have the ball, but often he’s just roaming when we loose it. So whilst vvd and robbo (and in my opinion a lesser extent Konate ) are tying to figure out a new style of play they’ll make mistakes, add to that- that vvd and Robbo is form has been off all season we need to create a more balanced side and just play a right back or play 3 at the back but not this hybrid where we have a left back who bombs forward and a right back for ~50% of the game.

Agree with most of that and whilst Robbo has been off the boil recently, I disagree about his position for the goal. The Minute VVD slipped, Robbo had to close the angle to the attacker. If he stayed with Kane, he leaves a one on one, so but if a stretch to have him on that one I think. But yes, he hasn't been at his best recently.

If Trent were to play midfield full time, it would need us to play with double 6's, or play him as the sole No. 6. As an 8, he won't get that much time to pick out the passes and crosses, which is his biggest strength, and something that probably only KdB can match him for (I personally think he is a better long range passer than KdB) . But playing two 6's means we need to change our whole approach, and would have huge ramifications in counter pressing scenarios. So, I don't see any easy solution, aside from dropping Trent (but that means we lose our most creative player, by a mile) . That is why I think Klopp is sticking with this system, instead of trying him as a midfielder already.

Trent's only real problem is that, unlike quantum particles, he can't be in two places at once. If he sticks to a defensive role his team misses out on a massive attacking force and football as a whole suffers. Over the last few seasons his positioning has not been such an issue as Fabinho has been a colossus in defensive midfield, breaking up play and taking the pressure off Trent's duties at the back with ease, but as with a few of his team mates recently Fab's suffered from the relentless pace of a Klopp system. Young Bajcetic was brought in as a relative unknown. I think he's about twelve years old, 7 stone wringing wet, with more meat on a butcher's pencil. And he's a POWERHOUSE. He seems to have all the attributes of Fab already, and injuries permitting (he's out for the season) could prove to be a standout buy, even by Klopp's incredible standards. Get that defensive mid position right and Trent can continue his upward trajectory marauding across the pitch with abandon, putting the naysayers to bed once and for all.

i think in previous seasons Hendo or Fabinho used to drop in between the 2 central defenders to make a 3 anyway as Trent and Robbo would bomb on, now when Hendo comes on or starts he drifts out to the right which leaves Fab by himself which causes issues. the midfield with Gini etc were all work horses designed to run and run but not really score goals as the front 3 did it, so i think it wouldn't be a massive job of rebuilding it just needs the correct players to replace older ones who have run out of legs. YNWA.

Never gave up on young CJ. His talent is not in question, IMO. He just needs to get healthier and play more and show his ability which he definitely has. He along with Baj and Elliott have a real chance in preseason to stake their claim.
