Ed001 you're usually the voice of reason. Come on man whatever positives you can see for this season or next please share. We need you now.

{Ed001's Note - after that? It is hard to come up with anything positive after that. I guess at least Nunez is scoring regularly right now and Salah scored and played a lovely ball at the weekend, so maybe he is waking up. Bajcetic is a big positive.

Next season? Well at least Keita won't be stealing a living from us any more. Ox should be gone as well. Hopefully we will bring in some players who can actually stay fit and offload a few of those who spend most of their time out injured.

Yeah, I am struggling right now to come up with anything positive. That really hurt.}

At least you tried love you man.

{Ed001's Note - that was a hard one to take.}

Klopp finally realise that this squad need a rebuild to compete again Ed1? I dare say that if we were in running for titles and trophies this season, Keita, Ox, Matip and every single one that you say spend their time injured will get long term contract.

I would say that is a positive thing. Bit of a stretch but good thing for the future i guess. Would you say this is the lowest you seen from Klopp team since he took over Ed1?

{Ed001's Note - good point. He has to see that all these injury prone players are costing us badly. They make it impossible to plan a long term tactical strategy when you can't rely on any of the players to stay fit and be available to play.}

Curious Ed, who has the final say in which player get a new contract etc? Is it Klopp?

{Ed001's Note - well that is a nuanced question to answer. The player might reject it or Edwards/Ward might not be able to get them to agree terms, but in broad overall terms Klopp chooses who gets offered one yes.}

This summer is a pivotal one for Klopp, in my opinion. He has a choice: he can carry on with what the club has been doing for the last few years - not refreshing the team, handing out undeserved contracts to players that should have been sold years prior, allowing the club to rot from the inside, and generally see his tenure go the same way Wenger’s did towards the end; or he can actually get to work on making us an ambitious, competitive club again rather than the social club we are at the moment - sell the underperformers (Henderson, Fabinho, Gomez, Matip etc), find the underlying cause of the DISGRACEFUL injury record that plagues our club year after year, bench the unserious players living off past glories (van Dijk, Trent (just to wake him up) ), and stop allowing clearly vital members of the structure of the club to leave every year.
The stories we hear about ongoings at Liverpool are not just fabrication - there is clearly an issue with retaining staff, and it feels like Klopp has started running the club as his own personal fiefdom. He forgets that he’s won 5 trophies in 8 years here - Paisley or Shankley he is absolutely NOT.

That’s exactly how I described it in the live chat Ed, it hurt. That really hurt.

They will do well to come back from that this year - it was confidence shattering.

{Ed001's Note - they need a reaction, to show they are hurt just as much as we are.}

People will obviously have their own thoughts, but for me what hurts significantly is yet another loss to Real Madrid. Ed, is there anything about them, other than their unrivalled technical quality, that has resulted in such a poor run of results against them? Bare in mind that this team is 8 points behind a Barcelona side that were overpowered by Man Utd for most of the game less than a week ago.

{Ed001's Note - they do not have the quality they had, this is a mind thing. We folded when they scored. Madrid raised their game and we lowered ours. Bottled it.}

Hopefully FSG will stump up the money this summer and bring in Bellingham
Gvardiol, Rabiot and another midfielder as we need them.

Without big investment can't see Klopp lasting much unfortunately ed1 mate too much holes to plug in now ?.

That was seriously deflating. I'm not one to point fingers, but that 11 out there last night was not prepared mentally for the game. It doesn't look like they were told what to do under different scenarios. They started off with a bang but then let "the Madrid monkey on our back" get into their heads.

Here we were arguing for months that we need one midfielder in January. Abundantly clear now that both defense and midfield need revamping.

You have to give some credit to Ancelotti as well. He seems to a bogey manager for us. His time at Everton, Napoli and Real he has always got a result against us.

Spot on, ARAY1969. RM leave in our heads and it showed last night. We started well and played well BUT then, our heads went individually and collectively and the mistakes happened.

As soon as the first goal came (poorly defended) and AB1's brain fart followed, our heads dropped like "Here we go again" type stuff. People blaming individual players and wanting 7 players sold (yeah, like that's going to happen) are fooling themselves. This is a mental thing as it regards overcoming RM.

At this point, it does not even matter how well/ bad we play on a competitive level, we simply cannot rise above it mentally vs this team and it reminds me of us vs Spur or Porto. It doesn't matter where we play them or in what form we are in, we will ALWAYS pummel them. We are now Porto or Spurs when it comes to RM.

All Im going to say is that IF we want to win the CL again anytime soon, we're going to HAVE to beat these guys at some point.

Agreed mfahmee2, hopefully it's not just for Klopp, it's a lesson learned for the club and future staff/ manager as well on how they should plan on the rebuild process.

Especially when you need to rebuild from successful gen of players and team. They really need to be really objective and critical as much as possible.
