The signing of Tsimikas got me thinking about what the next stage of evolution is for our squad. Seemingly every summer our side evolves tactically and the coaches decide what they can tweak to make us even stronger in the coming season. Looking at our last two major signings and the ever growing faith in Williams from Klopp, am theorising about what this could be.

I’m beginning to wonder whether the next step in our tactical evolution is rotating more often in the positions that demand the most energy. For me, our dips in performances have always coincided with one of our key players looking very off the pace and tired; namely Firmino, Trent and Robertson. They are all key to the way our system operates and if one of them has an off day, it shows badly when it does. Over the past season the form of all 3 of these players has felt more up and down than it ever has because of the amount of pressing and energy they use up during.

U may b onto something there, AW. Normally, Klopp rotates the team ep. in the fstive period but regarding both FB's and esp. the two AM positions, he will normally rest one regular FB and play the other starter or play one regular CM and rest the other starter.

We may see a bit more rotation more often during the festive period into prolly Feb and March esp. if we are still in the CL, to keep us fresh for the run-in es. if we are in a tighter title race than this past season's. We shall see BUT very interesting indeed.

Let's wait and see. Williams looks the real deal. Can't really comment on the new lad. But he goo comes with a good reputation. I'm glad we took him instead of Lewis. Yeah Lewis would've been hg but tsimatas has the better reputation. But Trent and Robbo are exceptional. I don't think there are that many people on the planet who can kick a ball like taa. And I haven't seen a lb as energetic and as effective as Robbo since Roberto Carlos.

But you're totally right. We sometimes struggled this past season after big European games. I really hope we can now rest our fbs after these games. Not always.

Given the importance of both first-choice fullbacks to Liverpool’s system, particularly in an attacking sense, I’m not sure we’ll see wholesale rotation of those positions.
But, at the same time, I’m sure Klopp and his team recall the period around Xmas 2018 / January 2019 when we had the fullbacks missing and dropped vital points in the league that ultimately cost us.
Great that the depth to the fullbacks looks much stronger now and, I think, the deputies do look good to still provide a threat going forward that has not been the case hitherto.

It's an interesting thought AW. I was myself wondering something similar after the announcement of Tsimikas. Robbo and TAA as well as the front 3 have had their patchy runs at some point during the season but we seemed to struggle most when the fullbacks looked out of form or tired (and understandably so since they are our prime creators) . That could easily be something we probably looked at and maybe that prompted us into sign a natural LB with the aim to provide Robbo and TAA ample amount of rest next season to keep them at their sharpest throughout the campaign. Having two quality fb deputies in Williams and Tsimikas will definitely help.

Robertson struggles at times this season he looked exhausted it's great we can rest him and look after him now.
