Hey all, haven’t posted in a while (forgot my password and spent an age there trying to remember it! )
Just wanted to give my thoughts on last night - I may be alone here judging by a lot of what I’ve read on people saying we battered barce and pegged them into their own half but I personally thought they were super, and if we had played as they did I think people would be saying we were super!
Their quality and game management shone through for me, Alba’s ball for Suarez, his finish, Messi was terrific in spells (of course he’ll have some quiet spells when he’s being man marked and crowded out) but in general he was unplayable and Fabinho who I have loved this season was way off the pace in trying to keep up with him. Defensively I know we got in a couple of times but you expect that with us at this stage but in general I though pique controlled the defense really well, and I thought they were more than happy to be a bit pegged back at times and manage the game seeing as they were winning from the first half and knew they had quality to get more on the break, which they did and should have had more if dembele and some others had been more clinical.

It’s a harsh lesson and I do think we deserved one goal at least, but you get what you deserve most times in football and hopefully we deserve a lot more now in the return let with a much better performance.

I’m trying not to be too down, cos we did battle hard and like I said could have scored and even 3-1 makes it a much different second leg, but credit to Barcelona is all I’m saying, cos I haven’t seen a lot of people give it to them.

i rekon that is fair, 3-0 seemed harsh but in the end Barcelona took their chances and that was that! I do think we played well tho.

I thought we played well to be honest we were just not as clinical as Barcelona were. I felt three flattered Barcelona as well though. 2-0 would have been a fairer result.

I’m hoping chamberlain starts next Tuesday and drives us forward. If we can get an early goal who knows, we’ve done it before and it’s certainly possible we can do it again. Yes they are a great team but they do have weaknesses at the back which can be exposed.

I think they will try and sit back next week to prevent this, possibly even play a back five against us.

Barca took their chances. We didn't. Barcelona punished our mistakes. We didn't punish theirs. There lies the difference in a nutshell cos sometimes, football is not rocket science. It can be that simple at times.
