Don't know if this has been asked before but I wanted to ask. Ed 01 what is your opinion on Henderson? He seems to divide opinion, even among Liverpool fans. Personally I think he is a very good player he has just been unlucky with injuries.

{Ed001's Note - I like him, he is positionally sound, has an excellent range of passing and the vision to spot the passes. He does the dirty work off the ball well, cutting off passing lanes etc. Trouble is that he has lost a lot of pace and is clearly hampered by the injuries. Technically he is sound, one of the best players at the club in terms of first touch. He does lack composure in the box (though that is not a big issue in his current role) and he does need to trust his passing more and take more chances.}

Well said Ed. I really like Hendo and always have done. Let's hope he can stay fit next season and prove his doubters wrong, with Fabinho and Keita I see him being better then ever!

Hendo is a top lad and I can see us playing some games with him, Keita and Fabinho in midfield we’ll have a midfield that can dominate games.

Didn't Hendo win Liverpool's beep challenge last summer? Or was it the summer before that?

Has it been this season that his pace has really dropped?

Totally agree though ed01, I can't understand people who don't see it. Not all players in hendo's role can pass the ball at his level. Don't get me wrong, there are loads but it's not the priority asset for that role.

He had the hardest mantle to pick up. A different player from Gerrard, and not in his league to be fair (not many are) but still an excellent player. Liverpool don't get silly red cards anymore, mane, but that was bollox, and I think that has something to do with our captain and the highly professional atmosphere our manager and staff have created.

After Gerrard left we needed someone to step up and be the player that stitches the team together, knits the play, dictates from deep and switches the ball. His technique is better than a lot of people give him credit for. Watch his first touches, always seems to put it just where he needs it to be to allow himself the best possible chance to play the right ball. People say he passes sideways, of course he does. He's got a brain. He knows by switching he is dragging that defence back and forth, keeping them moving, wearing them out and creating the gaps for Firmino and co to exploit. Bobby gets a lot of credit, and rightly so, for the work he does for the team. Hendo may be a little more subtle but make no mistake, Hendo works his socks off for the team, foregoing the glory to get the win.

Look at his first deep pass for England the other night. Typical Hendo whip, curling it right into Ali? Or was it lingard? And almost creating a goal if not for woeful finishing. Was it sideways? No, it was a classy forward pass that required vision, technique and timing.

I realised today that Hendo is never linked to other clubs these days in summer. Not trying to jinx it, it's surprising. He is one of the best cms on the Premier league. Top 20 in Europe for me. People wonder where he will fit in with our new signings, if he is fit he will be in the team, don't doubt it for a second.

Imagine we were just signing Hendo, we would be chuffed. I really hope he can stay fit for us coz I guarantee he can adapt his game if he has lost a bit of pace but a not as fast Hendo is still quicker than many.

{Ed001's Note - beep challenge is stamina not pace.}

I think one reason that will make every manager love Henderson is his work ethic and that he gives his all every game. As Ed said, there are many excellent technical attributes that makes him a very good asset to Liverpool and many of which have been discussed over previously. One negative I notice of his game is that he is slightly more conservative and may be underrates his own passing range and takes just a tad too long to pass it to spaces forward. Or may be the fear of conceding possession in areas backed up by a not so reliable defence may be a contributing factor. But he often does the dirty work and in our system, it surely outweighs this negative aspect of his in my opinion.

Up until this coming season, Hendo has made the team better when he has been part of it. That should speak volumes.

With Fabinho, in particular, coming in, perhaps that means we'll see less of him - but I still think he is a very important player. One of my favorites in the team and just doesn't get the credit.

Oh OK ed01, that's good to know he has the stamina still, so important for that role. And there's Wiltshire smoking 20 a day and pretending he is in Jordans league.

{Ed001's Note - I think he meant he was up to the level of the Jordanian League.}

Lol, Wiltshire would still struggle in the Jordanian league. He has talent but without the professionalism and effort it will count for little.

Take Ronnie o'sullivan, loads of talent but didn't win anywhere near as many tournaments in his younger days as he should have. Sorted his head out, knuckled down and he is unreal. Not saying Wiltshire is a genius or anything but he has squandered his gift, let himself down. And the career of the footballer is a lot shorter than the career of the snooker player.

I wonder if he found the right manager, if he exists! Who could get the best out of him. If he could then he could still do something.

{Ed001's Note - not convinced he had that much of a gift. He was nothing special just hype.}

I don't think any manager can get the best out of him PH because it doesn't exist mate lol.

Hendo is underestimated and when he's fired up as strong as an Ox - the city game in the CL I swear he didn't lose a header or 50:50 all game.

I agree with lfcdas, I sometimes get the feeling Henderson doubts himself sometimes but I think his decision making is getting better as he matures. In the England game, it may have been that early pass, I can't remember but he received the ball, lush first touch, got it out of his feet and was going to pass sideways but he checked at the last minute, put his head up and played a nice forward pass 20/ 30 yards. I think he worries about people saying the sideways thing, or maybe he thought he'd just mix it up, catch Tunisia sleeping.

He speaks really well, it's not easy with a camera in your face but he goes beyond the cliches and gives the fans an honest, well structured response. He's one of the best talkers actually. If he doesn't go into management he would make a good pundit I reckon. Needs a major trophy to his name. If there's a player in the prem who deserves a few more medals it's JH. He'll get one next year, im so confident.

Ucl would be nice, the prem, fa cup too. I'd be happy if we won the europa league but I doubt we'll qualify for it, can't see us making ucl final again next year but then again, it's not like we fluked it. We hammered everyone. Prem next year.

You know what, in all honesty, I have rarely seen Wiltshire shine, I've rarely seen him score! Jeez I've rarely seen him play!

I mean, he does have something, he should be able to forge a career in the Premier league. I think he'll play for some one next year, in mid table team, it won't work out. He'll join a struggling premiership team. Get relegated and it'll be good bye Jack Wiltshire. He'll never claw his way out of the championship. Quite honestly. Who cares?

I remember years ago when Wilshire broke thtough, being laughed out of a pub for saying him and hendo could be the england midfield for years to come. Henderson is quality.

I love Henderson he is quality. Runs his socks off for us. Strong and vocal. He's captain for Liverpool and doing a very good job and deserves more praise. I just miss his runs in to box and his shots. I agree he needs to have more trust in his abilities. He still having that problem with his foot? Love a workhorse. Just like kuyt.

Ed25, what are your thoughts on this?

{Ed025's Note - even though im not his biggest fan Mc i have to say he has been one of englands better players, creativity has been a big problem with this squad recently and jordan has certainly stepped up to the plate, im not sure if that reveals how poor the rest are or that hes better than i thought though mate..
