hey, I'm just throwing an idea I had a few days ago out there. don't get mad at me lol

with it looking less and less likely for us to sign vvd / more and more likely we will lose coutinho, why aren't we trying to ask for somebody that could replace vvd from barce in return? to me it just makes sense or am I missing something?

Barca's center backs:

Pique: not for sale.
Mascherano: do I need to explain why this won't work?
Umtiti: Arrived only last season and was made 1st choice. Not for sale.
Vermaelen: A once good player who's struggled badly with injuries and has played 33 games in 3 years. No thanks.
Marlon: Unproven.

That's why we're not trying that.

Replace vvd? They have mascherano pique umtiti and a new guy forgot his name, wouldn't take any really.

thanks for the responses. what I was getting at, is somebody like umtiti is who we should be asking for! if they want to take coutinho who is not for sale and will hurt our club immensely on his departure, we should be asking for somebody of the same stature in return.

The problem is, Umtiti would want to move. He is first choice there and I think he would have no interest in a move.
