I know everyone is still disappointed with the results of late but doesn't anyone think that our main problem (apart from having dodgy keepers) is our lack of ability regarding set pieces?

For example, match after match we seem to absolutely tan the other teams possession wise but every time we get a set piece we are unable to do anything with it. We can't defend them and we can't seem to execute them in a way that gives us any benefit.

That said though we do need real quality purchases in the summer. Players that are winners. If we get top 4 then it's easier to attract them. If we don't then we're going to have to throw money at them so they come.

I think our issue is the way we set up to play. It is based on Liverpool overpowering teams and getting the first goal, which means teams have to then change their tactics to try and get back into the game. When this doesn't happen then we tend to leave gapping holes in our defence which is the weakest area of the team. We are still very fragile at the back and obviously the pressure mounts the longer the team take to break the opposing team down. I hate to say it but it does seem as if Klopp can't adjust and only has the "one" way of playing, which is great when it works but as the last while has shown not so good when we are struggling up front. I don't think its an individual thing but more of a collective group that are playing badly. Not getting the results puts pressure on everyones game and that is quite evident when you see the same old cracks again in our defending. What i will say is that we still have a lot to play for. As i said at the start of the season that top 4 is a must and anything else in my opinion would be failure by Klopp. We can easily still do that but we need to act and sort out the issues fast.

1000% this. Yesterday I think we had 13 corners in the 2nd half, but instead of the ball being whipped in having purpose, the ball is put in more hopefully, and rarely beats the first man. I can't understand what they do in training, but the corners have been a problem for many seasons, long before Klopp. Even when Coutinho took over corner duty yesterday the balls in were awful. I think it is something that drastically needs to improve, because the corner and free kicks are a massive part of the game, and they seem to be neglected.

What about freekicks? I don't even remember us scoring one from free kick. Our players ain't got that ability to find the net.

15 corners to 1 kevlaw, but they scored their 1 and we didn't.

"Our players ain't got that ability to find the net". One month of (very) bad form and you conclude this about us? Wow well done.

We can't break teams down.

{Ed001's Note - then we would not get any chances or goals at all, which is clearly not the case. More utter knee jerk bull.}

It does need to be looked at, we rarely seem to be a threat from dead balls. When we can't break teams down to get clear opportunities we do tend to get a lot of corners and free kicks yet rarely find our own player. Not sure if it's the delivery or the personnel we have attacking the balls which is the issue ( perhaps both) if we're not winning those first balls we need to look at alternate ways to play those situations.

It's almost like we don't prioritise these situations in training as much as other teams do. Set pieces will always be a good opportunity to score. Against these "bus-parkers" we should absolutely prioritise set pieces because they are such a good opportunity to score.
Similarly, set pieces against us for "bus parkers" will be their best chance to score, so equally we should be 100% focussed and organised.

Our set pieces at both ends are just "sloppy" and you don't expect that from a German manager.

Thanks Ron, I wasnt sure the full stats, just remembered the commentator saying we had 13 corners. Cheers for the clarification.
