Happy New Year House. Do you think we can sustain the title chase without going to market this January? I believe the argument of a large team (without Champions league) is muted by the fact that we are most likely going to qualify for Champions league next season.

I think the question is irrelevant. It all depends if the right player is available, someone Klopp thinks can improve us then we should get him regardless of title challenge. If nobody is available then the question is again moot. We have had some good buys in January in recent years but its still a notoriously difficult window to buy in but if anyone could spot a bargain that wasnt working in one team but which under the correct guidance could be a star i trust that man to be Klopp. Top four and next window will be a big one for us because we will need a much bigger squad but let's not jump the gun, like this window, let's just wait and see.

{Ed002's Note - Squad sizes are restricted and clubs manage to play in Europe year-in/year-out without increasing their squad size. Why should Liverpool be any different? How many years transition will it take Liverpool to do well in the Champions League?}

Ed i get your point but the fact is is that LFC will be expected to do well in both. Leicester are finding out how hard that is. LFC will also be expected to be in top four again next season if not better. Its a hard juggling act i know and Im not saying we need go out and buy every player available just that the summer window could be a lot more important than this one. Thanks for your input eds have a good new year and to all you fellow reds, heres to an exciting second half of the season, this is what we where wanting last summer, to be there or there abouts come January. Beat Chelsea the end of this month and its game on!

{Ed002's Note - I don't see Leicester as a good example but if you align Liverpool with the likes of them, and I assume the likes of Stoke and Southampton, rather than the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City, then you are right - the players need changing again.}

Ed where do I say replace the team? In fact I'm sure I said the opposite. Leicester are the only example, possibly a slightly better example are Spurs but they added quite a few players to their squad.

{Ed002's Note - You cannot add players to the squad unless (a) you remove players from the squad, or (b) you have players who only play in one competition - and even Liverpool aren't that stupid.}

Yes so your saying that our team cannot be improved upon? There are several areas I think could be improved upon. LB for e. g. Milner has been superb but I don't think he's the long term solution. There are other areas which aren't necessity but as I said to the OP it depends whos available. The best teams in the world still try to improve their squad I would trust LFC and Klopp to do the same.

{Ed002's Note - If the players are sold or moved on to be replaced, that is fine - but you cannot simply keep adding players.}

I agree with you there ed but the OP didn't question sales just incomings which is why i didn't mention them.

C'mon you can't have a debate about incomings without also weighing up sales. To me the real problwm with Leicester is a mix of depth but mostly motivation / experience. I watched their hiding vs manU earlier in the year before CL game and tbh they just didn't look arsed. Then vardy and mahrez were benched 2nd half and ya just knew thy weren't up for it like they were the season before.

Can we sustain this season's campaign without buying any players in this window?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are doing very well right now, changing it is not necessary. The problem is not the players that will lose the team points, it is the inability of the coach to adapt.}
