Maybe I'm experiencing I'm going crazy but is Mignolet really as bad as said on here, he isn't at the level of the likes of De Gea and Courtois but he's a decent Premier League keeper. He's good at punching the ball an getting distance with his punches, doesn't usually flap due to just punching the ball out the area, has average kicking ability, (the likes of Bogdan showed me what bad kicking ability really was), has great reflexes and agility which gives him great rubbish stopping ability, and is definitely one of the best around at saving penalties. Don't get me wrong he has his faults, lack of composure which spreads through the defence, poor communication, the best tell their defenders where to be, always has a mistake on him and could get so more accuracy on his kicks but the distance is fine. Mignolet is far less a problem than Moreno in my opinion.

{Ed001's Note - he doesn't usually flap because bad decision making leaves him dithering on his line and not getting near enough to flap, let alone punch. His kicking is appalling, worse than Bogdan's, not sure where you got the idea he was worse. Those great reflexes are nowhere to be seen whenever a shot is taken on goal, how many saves did he make yesterday? Was it one? The penalty, which is not about reflexes or agility, but about going the right way. His reflexes were not quick enough to even react to the deflection yesterday, let alone make any attempt to save it. His reflexes are not great and his lack of ability to kick sees him trying to get down with his hands to any shot that he should have stuck out a foot and stopped easily. Every striker, and coach, worth their salt knows to keep it low and close to Mignolet and it will go through him.}

The deflection for chamberlins goal wasn't sharp or very fast and was saveable. I decent goal keeper would have kept it out and i mean decent not world class.

He is still taking a touch before clearing the ball from his feet and nearly gave me a heart attack with him dribbling as an arsenal player came to close him in the first half. All because he is not comfortable kicking it first time and likes to take a touch.

We need Karius back as soon as possible and hopefuly he will be a lot better.

Can, Karius and lb (millner/ gomez/ new signing) will make us better.

{Ed001's Note - I said the same thing, a top shotstopper would have got something on that. Might not have saved it, but they would have reacted, rather than just watched it. He has not got fast enough reactions. We need a better coach for the keepers, as that is one of the easiest things to work on, yet it is clear his reactions have got worse.}

Ed is right. After watching the goal again, Migs only reacted after the bounce of the ball and did not anticipate that the ball would bounce, which would have given him a chance to get something on it. In those situations, if you allow the ball to bounce, it`s already past you before you can react. To do that, he would have needed to anticipate first, then move his feet one step to the left and gamble on where the bounce would end up after the first bounce. You have to be able to anticipate and be proactive as a GK and not be reactive, which is what Mingo is. But since his footwork is poor and doesn't move his feet fast enough, he can`t do any of that hence, the goal happened. I still believe when Karius is fit, he will be the starter.

I have said this for three seasons, his reactions and decision making are the main reasons he needs replacing. He often waits far to long before reacting instead of anticipating the danger. Great Keepers control situations. He doesn't command the penalty area the way a top class keeper should. The Eds right that low shots beat him every time and that's because he waits for shots to be struck before reacting.

{Ed001's Note - low shots beat him because he is afraid to use his feet and tries to get his hands to everything.}

Agree with ed01. Migs is a poor keeper and there's no denying that. Ed01, do you think Cech should have done better with our second and third goal? I think he was very poor for the second, the third is maybe me being harsh as it happened quite fast.

{Ed001's Note - Cech looks a shadow of his former self since signing for Arsenal. He is nowhere near his best and could have done a bit better.}

I think I may be letting the rest of Bogdan's football ability cloud my judgement on his kicking. I have sen Mignolet make acrobatic saves on the past so I do think he has great reflexes they weren't on show against Arsenal though agreed, agree with the penalty bit, but he has shown consistent ability to save penos. His decision making is poor I agree but he has been trying for a while now to punch the ball at set pieces, and when he does get there he gets a good amount of distance on them.

Maybe Alex Manninger has been brought in to guide and influence the GKs more than anything. Not as a coach but as a senior presence.

We've been hearing you say the GK coach are not the best for ages now. Maybe this is the solution. Still Migs got to go.

{Ed001's Note - he is there so Ward can go out on loan and get experience.}

Ed001 do you think ward could be fighting with karius for a starting place next season, anyone is better than migs but do you think he has the attitude and ability? does klopp rate him? to be our future no 1 or is it see how he does on loan this season cheers.

{Ed001's Note - it is a case of see how he gets on. It is too early to judge, but he does look to have a lot of potential. He is particularly good on the ball apparently, which is a very useful trait in modern day football.}

If David Wagner is impressed with Ward, so will Klopp.
