would love to hear your thoughts on todays game ed1. do you think sturridge and countinho will start on Thursday or will he ease them back in gently? spot on about micah Richards btw ed. awful footballer. also looking at villa today I would not be surprised to see them suffer back to back relegations.

{Ed001's Note - not just Richards that is awful, Lescott is terrible too, still he can tweet pics of his flash cars, so he is obviously not bothered.

I thought it was an excellent performance by us, that tore them to shreds and then they capitulated. It was the movement and interplay of Sturridge, Coutinho and Firmino that did for them. They simply couldn't cope and they lost confidence, which allowed us to just destroy them. If they had managed to keep us at bay and gain confidence, then it might have been totally different. Once a goal went in, it was only a matter of how many we would get as they let their heads drop.

It just shows what a difference quality makes. The movement was excellent, which gave options for the pass. Sturridge is so good he provides the opposition with something to fear, which creates opportunities for others, as well as being able to get some for himself. Those three up front, with Origi to come in as well, can cause even the best teams problems, Villa are far from the best, so they had little chance.

The pressing was better as well, which helped a lot, as players lacking in confidence often look to have an extra touch, which means a good press can really hammer them. Today we had a good press, so they suffered badly. With them being pressed off the ball and our movement and passing gelling well, the nice early goal just killed them. You could see they just knew they were in trouble and it was then up to us to take advantage, which we did. Nice to see the goal difference back in the positive as well!}

I feel sorry for Garde to a degree, and for Villa fans, they didn't do too badly for the opening minutes of the game and in the second half, but as you say they couldn't keep us at bay and we did really well. Good to see Origi continue his form as well, I really like the lad and he seems to be quite a hard worker and someone who wants to improve and to do well. Can's goal was quality too, great shot.

I thought it very instructive that Origi came on before Benteke too. Shows the pecking order very clearly.

Ed001, what do you make of this Sturridge wanting to leave business that came out earlier in the week? How do he and Klopp get along?

{Ed001's Note - it is just nonsense stories.}

Don't forget Ings to come back too Ed.

Sturridge, Ings, Firmino, Origi, Ibe.

{Ed001's Note - fingers crossed he comes back like he was playing just before he got injured, because he looked really good just then.}

thanks for the reply ed. I feel sorry for the villa fans. I bet remi garde wished he had stayed in france. also how come the media let's tim Sherwood off the hook for the part he played in the mess villa find themselves in? poor signings, poor tatics etc. looking forward to Thursday ed, its nice to take to the field with guile and goals.

{Ed001's Note - Sherwood is one of their mates, they never get on the back of Roberto Martinez either.}

I would only caution that it was vs Villa who are going down and will do a Leeds at this point. That said, I agree with you Ed. The quality we showed today just showed what might have been this season with Klopp in charge from the word go. It was breathless atimes with the movement, the passing and our ability to know when to press and when to drop. The fact that Kolo scored showed how well we played. Great confidence builder for the LC final and if our players can stay fit till season's end, we may just nick 5th.

{Ed001's Note - that is why it was 6, but I do think we would have won that anyway playing like that, even if they weren't in a mess. In fact they have been better lately, Garde has improved them.}

Bang on Ed001.

If you look at two of the first three goals, creative runs by Sturridge and Firmino create space for the goal itself.

On the first goal, Firmino's presence and movement in the box pulls one of the Villa defenders off their line, creating space between the remaining defenders for Sturridge to exploit with his header.

On the third goal, after some great pressing from Firmino and Can, Firmino plays a great pass over to Can and Sturridge's darting run into the box pulls a Villa defender with him deeper, giving Can the space to blast an great strike just inside the far post.

No one puts that on the highlights, but the movement and creativity of Sturridge, Firmino, and Coutinho makes a massive difference.

{Ed001's Note - it is difficult to see those things to be fair, most people are so busy watching the ball they miss everything else. That is why commentators are there, they should be pointing these kind of things out, instead of their inane and pointless chatter which mostly consists of them telling you who has the ball, in large part getting that wrong as well.}

Villa are just terrible and going down, however we took our chances well.

Ed I have to say I absolutely love that analysis of commentators I often sit there wondering what they're paid for when they just say random names its like 90 minutes of 'Sturridge, Lucas, can, back to henderson, oh that's a nasty challenge, coutinho to take the free kick' all they do is tell us what we already know, half the time I get more joy muting the TV and playing a radio commentary instead at least they're describing what's happening, the cameras follow the ball for us what we need the commentators to do is tell us what's happening off the ball.

{Ed001's Note - it is just so outdated, from the days when you could barely see what was happening, one day it may move on and realise that we need more than just names.}

That's the key point for me : we took our chances.

We've created quite a few half chances in recent games and not taken them.
Today we did, 6 different scorers, 6 different goals:

1- cross/ header
2- set piece free kick
3- counter press
4- pace on the break
5- intricate passing around the penalty area
6- set piece corner.

As Kloppo said - perfect 😎.
