Morning ED's and Reds!

First visit to Anield for over a year yesterday due to work and the 5 hour return car journey gave me plenty of time to think about the game.

First off, I though Stewart was man of the match. He was confident on the ball, strong and worked hard. I'd then go for Brad Smith, who now has to start for me, maybe even push Moreno in to a more attacking role, what do you think on that Ed1?

Ibe looks lost. I feel for the kid. I just don't think he knows what his best role is and is trying to do too much.

Mignolet didn't have much to do but somehow made me feel nervous, how?!

Benteke just needs to go and play for a team that will build their whole team around him. He doesn't offer anything for us.

I do think we need to get our midfield running beyond the ball a lot more and when we received the ball high up, we seemed to go back instantly, one of the few times Brannagan turned and went forward, he forced a good save from Randolph.

I'm not complaining though, I thought it was decent performance and I have total faith that we are on the up under Klopp.

Cheers guys.

{Ed001's Note - I have been saying for a while I think Smith should be at left back in place of Moreno. Moreno simply can not defend. Personally I would say Brannagan was arguably in the running for MOTM though with Stewart.}

Great post smplfc totally agree, I think too many players in our midfield squad are only average, for me I would get rid of Lallana, Henderson, Lucas.

Lallana offers nothing whatsoever, Henderson whilst having a good engine, for me does not actually do anything, he doesn't tackle, he often just shadows, he does not get forward enough and when he does his shooting is awful and he is not creative.

Lucas a few years ago was awesome, but since his injuries he has gone down hill, yes he does tackle and breaks up play but gives far too many fouls away and is too slow and often either gives the ball away or gets caught in possession.

We need more pace in there and more creativity who can get forward, score goals and tackle, just wish we had Case, Kennedy, Souness and McDermott now that's a midfield, ok not much pace but a midfield who got stuck in, who were very creative and who scored goals.

Henderson is a class player, he is just trying to gain fitness, Liverpool fans nowadays are simply to inpatient, give the guy time.

Cheers for the reply Ed, I know you've stated you'd start Smith for a while, but my question was meant about the part in maybe playing Moreno higher up?

I feel like we would have another option if we had a left footed attacking player as opposed to someone out there who is always going to cut inside.

Yeah, Brannagan would have probably been 3rd on my ratings list. I have to say although he had little to do, Lovren looked more confident than previously. I hope he turns out to be the player we thought we were buying.

Also Ed, did you no think that could have been a good opportunity for Ward to get a game?

Cheers!

{Ed001's Note - I did say that was how I would do it mate. Moreno would then help out Smith to ease in, as you would hope he would offer cover. I hate the fashion for wingers cutting in at every club, that only works if you have Cafu or Dani Alves, so you need to give them space to charge down the outside. If you have a normal fullback, then you want width to come from elsewhere.

It would have been a good opportunity if Migs had not just played well, you need to give him the chance to develop on a good game for confidence reasons.}

Brannagan MoM for me. His dead balls were the best we've seen since Gerrard by a quite substantial margin, and his movement and play were very impressive. Kid's got a lot of potential.

Get rid of Henderson, are you deluded?

Branno and Smith are the best crossers we have. Now that is saying something about how poor the senior players are at this. Our kids played well and dominated a first choice WH team.
