Funny how things work out isn't it? The horrible tackle on Lovren cost West Brom the win in the end, maybe pulis should rethink his thuggish tactics.

I doubt Pulis knows how to 'rethink'. His tactics are indicative of his lack of mental prowess and tactical nous.

Do you really think it was a bad tackle? Yes ta man followed through but he was first to the ball. In livens time at Liverpool I have only seen a slight increase in his abilities. Yes he ain't making the same silly mistakes as he was at the start of last season but he still seems off the pace, clumsy on the ball, and lacks a voice especially alongside skrtle.

{Ed001's Note - it was a dreadful tackle, he deliberately followed through, lifting his studs as he did so. There was time for him to avoid such excessive contact, but he made it worse and you could see by his face he knew it as well. I have no doubt he was not intending to do any serious damage, it is about intimidation, but the result was a bad tackle.}

Have to disagree with you on this one Ed. Taped MOTD last night, as well as watched it. Played it back numerous times this morning and I can't see anything other than a fully committed tackle, which Lovren also went into committed. I can't see how when his foot made contact with the ball he could stop his foot from following through. It would be almost impossible for your foot to stop dead.

{Ed001's Note - nobody said his foot should stop dead, but it shouldn't be raised up to catch Lovren on the knee. He could have easily let his knee bend with the impact to reduce it as well, instead of going through with it. There was no way on earth that was anything but a deliberate follow through. He knew exactly what he was doing.}

Pulis has been the same for ages and what did we expect him to do? He is not Pelligreni blessed with world class players at his disposal. West brom were near the relegation zone and a point at anfield was all in his mind and he got that.

I can't believe people are defending that tackle. Go back a few seasons to Liverpool vs Man City. Henderson made a late lunge and went over the top of the ball (despite touching ball before player) but was red carded because the follow through caught the City man. And Henderson didn't go in anywhere near as violently as Gardner did. It's a straight red card. The only possible reason for disagreeing is you quite simply don't know the rules.

Skrtel and Milner should've been booked also but West Brom could very easily have ended that game with 7 men. They fouled Benteke in what was a stone wall penalty. McAuley (i think) attacked Lovren off the ball allowing Olson to score there second goal. Fletcher repeatedly fouled Mingolet at every corner. They upended Milner, Origi and Coutinho countless times.

It was a disgusting game from West Brom and the bloody media are completely embarassing themselves over the incident by refusing to crucify Gardner for what was one of the worst tackles i've ever seen. He showed a complete lack of remorse and the referee should be banned from Premier League football for failing to control the game.

I hope i'm wrong but that tackle looks career ending. Knees aren't supposed to bend sideways!

Gardener deliberately followed through, and even raised his legs on the follow-through, and make no mistake, Pulis will have asked his players to use sly means to get in our face. Craig Pawson continues to show why he is among the poorest referee with his performance yesterday - not one single card? Are you kidding me?

I saw the tackle again and my word, that was a defo leg breaker on the follow through. He could have pulled out of the follow through after cleanly getting the ball but he stuck the boot in instead, full force. He was trying to hurt Lovren or leave some mustard on his knee, as some say over here in the States. That was a straight red, IMO.
