It's definitely time for a new manager. How on earth is anyone at this football club allowing rodgers another game in charge. People are saying well maybe a few more games and let's just see, let's see the next few home games over, them see, more time . Noooo! He hasn't got a clue. Not a clue what players to play, where to play them and what to do. After last season's disastrous ending of the season did anyone think that Rodgers was going to change and have a fresh new looking liverpool. No. we are the complete same, 4 seasons in, 200m + spent, we are still short of players in certain possisions, no one knows what our starting line up is or formation and the players don't even know where they will be played. Rodgers is the only one at anfield that would pick the teams he does, and they don't work, all the pundits are shaking their heads when they see the tactics he comes up with lately. We are all hoping for something to change and it's not going to happen. We all knew we needed a better keeper. Why did we not get one. We all knew we needed a star in the middle of the pitch to replace Gerrard and to work with Henderson. Mateo Kovačić would of been fantastic, or give can or Rossiter the nod but no we go with milner. We needed to replace sterling as we lost our pacey winger. A Yevhen Konoplyanka kind of player maybe. No we spend big money on firmino another number 10 when we have coutinho and lallana already. Now we lack pace. And lastly a forward that will score us 20 + goals as we can't rely on sturridge all season. Did we get one. no we got big Ben and Ings which are good options and will be great to play with that star forward but they are not that player that will bang 20+
So have we improved . We only needed 4 players but we didn't get one. And that's all down to the manager. If he couldn't see that in the summer then I'm sorry he is never going to see it. And still even against Norwich we played 5 players out of possision and 3 different formations. It's a joke. I love the club and I'm worried that with roders picking stupid line ups and players out of position we won't win our next few home games in the league and if we don't we will be sitting around religation. Then it's too late. Just save us now.

We are still late. All those positions / players would still need to be addressed under a new manager and the club will have to fork more money / debt.
We need a world class KEEPER
We need a world class CM.
We would need a good winger.

Great post. Hit the nail on the head 100%. Rodgers is clueless, lost and completely out of his depth. He's a good sales man, he talked his way into the job, he talks players into believing in him, and he talked his way into saving his job. He has tremendous club love for the club? No he doesn't he wants the sack, but hasn't the Backbone to walk out.

Agree with a lot of this but Milner is a world apart from Can and Rossiter in terms of experience in the dressing room and replacing Gerrard. He'll be a great addition to the team with time.

Also Firmino still makes a lot of sense for me if you view him as being able to play upfront as a second striker, on the wing or replace Coutinho if injured or needs a rest. pity he's not being used that way. Would love to have seen him getting a run upfront alongside Benteke and linking with Coutinho like he does for Brazil.

In short, I don't think recruitment this season is a problem, with perhaps exception of the lack of a leader at DM or a replacement goalkeeper. This compares to last season which was a disaster.

I do agree milner is a great asset to have in the squad and in the dressing room, he has a lot of experience. But every top team needs a star in the middle of the park. We've had this for the last decade with Gerrard. A player that can win games and has that star quality. We all saw last season how much we missed this and should of replaced Gerrard last year. I don't think milner has this star quality. Will be a great team player but not the man to replace a Gerrard. I dint think he's right

I agree zimbo that milner is a great asset to the squad and in the dressing room and brings us experience. But every top Club needs a star in the heart of that midfield. We've been lucky to have Gerrard be that man for us over the last 10 years, would win us games and pull things out the bag when needed. We all saw last season what we were like with out a player like that. We should of have a replacement for Gerrard the season before but didn't. I don't think milner is that man that can fill that gap and 'star quality' we lack and I also don't think he's the right fit to play along side Henderson each week. There were better options in my opinion in that centre role.
Firmino is a great player, again most teams would be lucky to have him. I agree his most effective possion is behind the front man or the number 10 role. I have to disagree with playing him out wide, that's not to his strengths and we should have other options for that. My issue is that we do not have unlimited funds and the money he cost us could of been spent in other needed areas. It's a lot of money for a replacement for coutinho. Especially when we already have lallana and teix. With sturridge back I'm guessing he will partner big Ben so I can't see us fitting him in if coutinho is fit. Again mate that's Rogers fault. He bought another good player but isn't needed, can't really fit him in unless like you said play him out of possision on the wing maybe, but then not get the best out of him, and lose his confidence. If he needed a winger we should of bought one not another number 10 and hope for the best. The thing is rodgers sees players available and thinks yes il get him, he looks good and hopes they will work in other possisions. The old saying square pegs for round holes. But he does this week in. He Plays so many players out of possision. he's Playing can everywhere, right back, centre back, everywhere but is box to box role. Ings was on the wing the other week. what was that all about? After 4 years he still to this day is buying players we don't need or that doesn't fill the gaps needed and plays these players in stupid formations and out of possision. I feel sorry for the players as rodgers is leading them out each week with no clue what to do or where to play from one game to another. This will not change till a replacement is found as this is now rodgers way. And it doesn't work but he's not going to change.
