Hey eds, different kind of question here. With the possibility of England losing their 4th champions league spot to Italy, do Europa league performances affect the champions league spots? We keep saying that England needs to perform better in Europe but I was just curious if that meant both leagues

{Ed002's Note - I would not worry too much about Italy. The Country Rankings take consideration of both Europa and CL - but there are fewer points on offer for Europa. England's position has been retained through Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United consistently doing well. MU screwed up last season and their replacement were a joke. Hopefully they will do better this season.}

Ed002 is not lying. Its not even a dig at the club, its a fact! LFC embarrassed themselves and the rest of England with some shambolic performances in Europe last season.

Yeah we didn't too bad either for England's ratings 05/09 weren't we top of eufa rankings

Arsenal did well aswel when they won it, aswel as city :)

{Ed002's Note - You should begin your posts with "Speaking from a position of ignorance,". Putting aside Liverpool not being top of the rankings for those years (2005/06 - 19th; 2006/07 - 3rd; 2007/08 - 4th; 2008/09 - 7th; 2009/10 - 10th), it is of no more significance than Huddersfield Town being the top side in the 1920s. Nothing, nada, zip - it is history.

As for your quip about Arsenal, they have consistently been above Liverpool (who are now ranked 55th in Europe) and have been instrumental in helping England maintain a good position in Europe - whereas Liverpool have contributed nothing whatsoever. Manchester City have been far more successful in Europe in the five year period that counts for this than Liverpool.

Your post is very embarrassing reading for those Liverpool posters who do understand how this works.

West Ham didn't put out a team to even qualify for the Europa League last week too. Then the Southampton team in comparison looked strong and showed respect for the competition.

Yeah ........

{Ed002's Note - You really are turning out to being a brain-dead troglodyte. You clearly don't understand how the rankings work. You don't understand the success other sides have had in Europe in recent years. You are living in the past - most of Liverpool's success came before most of the posters here were born.}

It will take us a long time to win the "Top of the UEFA rankings cup".
