Alberto Moreno.

What do posters and eds think? After his first season I am somewhat concerned. The recent consensus is that our fullbacks are going to be something of a lynch pin for the team this season - I don't know if its true but bare with me - I want to know peoples thoughts on Moreno. My early impressions were good however, in certain games, over the course of the season, he disappeared. He also made a number of high profile errors in big games.

The cardinal sin for me was his performance against United at home. A must win game which he seemed lethargic, lazy and uninterested in from the get go. I think the lad needs to have a whopping season - he needs to prove himself as, thus far, I would argue he has not been good enough. Certainly he lacks competition (Enrique wtf?) so I hope he is able to push on and put in some good performances.

What do others think though? Will he do the business??

{Ed001's Note - I think the new coaching set up will benefit him immensely.}

Looks like he will have more competition with Gomez and Maguire looking good players. I'm sure Pep will help him too . hopefully he isn't being Brendaned already

I think he's going to be a great player, brilliant pace and athleticism and good technique, although it would help if he could at least kick the ball with his right foot. He just needs to learn when to attack and when to stay back, and also needs to improve his positioning, but these are things he should learn and have drilled into him by the coaching staff, who are hopefully better equipped now.

I'm for taking the money. Gets caught out of position way too much.

The very best teams are solid at the back first and foremost.

I think of it this way. If he was coming to the end of his contract (like the Milner situation) would Chelski, Arseynal, Citeh or the Unmentionables be looking to sign him up?

Exactly.

I am with User013. You never know how a player may develop but he didn't impress last year. Wasn't our worse player but didn't do anything remarkable.

Let's sell every young player who had an average season, adapting to a new country, language, style and team mates.

Scored a remarkable goal against Spurs if I recall.
