i haven't really watched kovacic play and refuse to watch youtube clips of him as they make every player look good. Can someone who watches serie a or croatia explain what type of midfielder he is and will he be an improvement on what we already have?

thanks

He is an excellent dribbler with very good ball skills. He has a good build quite similar to Gerrard in terms if size. He started out as an attacking midfielder playing for Zagreb but now is more of a central midfielder though he can play as adeep lying playmaker where i personally think he should be employed along with hendo and milner in a. Three man midfield assuming lucas leaves.
Great signing imo

I'm not a big fan of YouTube videos either, they can be very deceiving. However, Google "Kovacic Vs". And that should come up with videos showing everything he did in one particular game. That will give you a better idea of what he is capable of, rather than highlight reels.

{Ed001's Note - but what about what he does off the ball? That is as important as what he does with the ball, or even more important. Does he create space for himself and others with his movement? Does he cover passing lanes or cover gaps defensively? Etc etc.}

He is more of a creative attacking midfielder at present but a coach from inter told me not too long ago that he believed kovacevic (with a bit of work) could become a complete box to box midfielder as his reading of the game is excellent and just needs to work on his timing and tackling. His is very level headed and down to earth and is well liked at inter.

Any chance one of the eds can profile the player for us on what type of player he is and what the thinking might of been behind his signing ?

{Ed001's Note - I will ask Ed008 if he can do anything, he watches a lot of Italian football so would have a better idea.}
