Hey Eds,
Just watching UCL matches tonight and watching the aggression towards referees from the players. It's also very bad in PL.
My question is are there any measures EVER going to be brought in to stop the harassing and abuse referees take from players?
Surely the football associations must start looking at how referees are treated in sports like rugby were there is huge respect from the players whether the desk ion is going against them or blatantly wrong.
Will soccer ever get to the point where players are harshly punished for harassing, screaming at, swearing at, crowding and pulling at referees, I see the same conduct now at underage level because these kids see their heroes doing it and getting away with it.
Will it ever change, surely this a simple fix for football associations.

{Ed001's Note - it is unlikely purely because bad behaviour doesn't adversely affect the sport's popularity. The moment it does, you can guarantee it will be put a stop to.}

Agree with Ed. It's simple to deal with but the authorities don't seem motivated to do it.

In agreement with the ed and poster, the rules already exist and have done for a long time. You may end up with a few 7v7 games at the end of 90 mins, but after half a season they would learn. For those that say you can't referee the top end of the professional game like that, in my opinion is rubbish. We've let players and clubs get away with that behaviour for far to long.

Things have changed regarding respect for referees and have allowed players and mangagers to abuse the system. Back in the day, you couldn`t touch a ref even in the slihgtest because that was an automatic yelllow card. If a manager so much as wags his fingera t a ref, he is off into the stands. Now, players put their hands on them and grab them an d NOTHING happens. Back then, you would be sent off with immediate effect.
