Liverpool have opening £37m bid for Lavia turned down apparently by Southampton.

This 20% sell on clause to City is going to cause problems. Saints are going to want to maximise as much as they can but he ain’t worth more. 1 season in the Prem and they want £50m. Unbelievable!

Think city only have a buy back clause for 2024,not a sell on clause.

And who says city will want him back anyway? And if he has a rubbish season then his value drops.
Move on and find someone else I say.

I believe city get 20% of any sale, which is valid now.

They can only enforce a £40m buy back in 2024.

Remember that Lavia will qualify as HG if he stays at an English club, and that does add a premium.

Sacha Tavolieri Update on Lavia: We told you this morning that as official bid was expected soon… I understand now that a 1st bid has been sent as per David Ornstein around 35M£ but with a counter-offer made today by SouthamptonFC board of directors. LiverpoolFC wants to close the deal around 40M£ but SaintsFC wants more but conversations are really open as the aim’s to find the right deal.

I see the potential but wasn't very impressed by his performances last campaign, despite his beautiful assist to Jota.

I heard there’s a 10% sell on clause re Lavia.

42m + add ons should be enough. he’s a huge talent. reminds me a little of camavinga and at 19 is only going to improve. it will happen imo.

Wonder if we have any players we could offer like Phillips or Morton that they’d be interested in.

I was musing on that a few days ago, OneKiss, maybe as a perm or a loan.

Possible I guess.

Anybody have any hard evidence about any of the numbers being put forward on this thread? Basing an opinion on numbers that are fictitious pot the validity of the opinion in doubt.

I don't think anyone has seen a clear fax, WDW, but there are a number of separate reports, including from Ormstein, that a bid has gone in, been rejected and an improved one is expected.

Reports either of £35m or £37m makes me think it's £35m + add ons taking it to £37m (just me guessing) .

Chelsea had a £40m bid rejected earlier in the season according to Ed002.

Some reports (same sources, so could be clickbait) suggest that Soton would accept a guaranteed £40m. Given they rejected Chelsea, I would assume a deal of £40m plus add ons (maybe taking it close to £50m if clauses are met? ) would be the sort of figure that would seal the deal.

But that's just me speculating on pieced together click-baity reports.

{Ed002's Note - I suspect it is reasonable speculation.}
