Ed02, do you have any fresh updates on the progress of talks between LFC / other clubs with Benfica for Darwin Nunez? I assume the rumours that liverpool will secure his services are premature?

ed2 - out of interest, would Benfica be in communication with Nunez and his agent about their negotiations with ManU and Liverpool? Like, I'm interested in how the selling club and their player communicate as they head towards a final sale especially when there are two buying clubs involved and it's close. Are there occasions when a player is sold to a club who met the club's terms but was a club the player would prefer to have not gone to?

I get what your saying Faith, I’m other words if Utd offer more salary and higher fee with Benfica then will he be swayed to sign for them even though he prefers Liverpool? My worry is that we are trying to low ball and won’t get to the demands of the club which has invited other interested teams to make a move. I really hope we get this over the line but the longer it takes the more doubt I have.

I just don’t get the pessimism about how we conduct our business. We have demonstrated time and again we are shrewd operators. And yet Kevin from Rhyl thinks we are trying to low ball them.

At what point will we all accept that the club know more than we do about getting these things over the line? If his head is turned by stupid wages from United then we don’t need him. He’s the wrong type of character for us. If he wants the challenge of playing for one of the top teams in Europe on a staggeringly high wage (realtive) then he should play for us.

I do tend to agree with you Why0why tbh despite me saying us trying to low ball. I hope we get it done without putting us into financial difficulties. I’m not sure how far away the 2 teams are in numbers tbh I’m hoping we are close.

daretodream - well yeah I was thinking more in terms of the dealings between the clubs. So let's say Nunez is more happy with what Liverpool offer but ManU offer Benfica twice the transfer lol. I see ed2 says the player doesn't have to sign the contract, so I guess in that case the player would just stay at Benfica?
