Akanji is a decent player, but I'm not sure he'd be the best option. I haven't seen him aside from in the CL, and he didn't strike me as much of a leader. 2 CL games is hardly a fair sample size though, so I'll reserve judgement if he does sign.

{Ed002's Note - I don't know. They have been in discussions with Dortmund over a move in January recently. Barcelona took a look and decided he wasn't for them and are looking at another of a similar age. I don't know if Liverpool has made any approach.}
