I still keep seeing reports on couts would love a return to Liverpool. Even if we could afford him how many on this site would take him back? For me it's a no under the circumstances he left?

Leaving aside how he departed, the question is does he fit anymore?

I do think he's still potentially very good in the right setup, but he developed a habit of playing very selfishly in 2014-15 because nearly all of our play was going through him after Suarez left and he never shook it off. The few times I saw him for Barcelona he looked a bit lost out on the left because he wasn't constantly being looked for every other pass. Messi and Suarez were there, as well as Rakitic etc coming from midfield.

Here, he could end up lost again because we'd be varying our play between him, the fullbacks, and direct passes to Salah and Mane.

I think he could shine. But for the price he would command, and given his back issues, it’s a no from me.

No, I don't rate him.
Too slow for the front three and too lightweight and lazy for the midfield three.

Tjred, I disagree. Something Red is right. Cou has regressed massively since he left while this team has progressed on to greater things since he left. So if you are basing your opinion on Cou shining on the team he was in that looks nothing remotely similar than the team we are now, then your judgement in skewed and unbalanced, IMO.

Our midfield is now set up differently where the play no longer goes thru one person and now goes thru a system which Cou cannot play in as he likes everything to go thru him. Will he get in ahead of Naby in our current system? Not a chance. Ahead of Gini or Hendo in the AM slots? No way cos they are required to a a tonne of hard graft covering our FBs and all that, something Cou won’t do effectively.

Coutinho has a chronic back problem which bizarrely flares up whenever someone from Spain calls.

I feel like a parrot saying this but no, not even of he was for free. Never in a million years. There's a reason why we did better and firmino stood out more since he left. He's not good enough for liverpool. I have no idea why some people think the sun shines out of his ar*e.

Does anybody remember Men Behaving Badly in the 90’s. In season 1 it started Harry Enfield and then from season 2 Onwards it started Neil Morrisey.

Harry Enfield was quoted as saying that the show would never had been commissioned if it wasn’t in the first season but would never have been so successful if he hadn’t quit.

I view Coutinho like Harry Enfield. We needed him to get established and then we needed to sell him (for both money and tactically) to become successful.
