I've done a search but couldn't find the answer so I wonder if one of the Ed's (or anyone else) could assist with the answer?

I was wondering if the current Anfield expansion plans allow for any further expansion in the future? i.e. presently the capacity is circa 45, 500 and is being increased by 8, 500 to - 54,000, which for mine isn't a massive increase given the purported outlay, my opinion aside, could an increase on 54,000 be made if the decision to "increase/expand" arose or would it then mean a definite move away from Anfield to further increase capacity?

{Ed001's Note - the plan is to expand further in the future, as the area's infrastructure is improved to enable a larger capacity crowd to be handled by the transport links.}

Thanks for the rapid reply Ed001 . I thought it would be very short-sighted not to implement/allow for such.

{Ed001's Note - the next step is just under 60k, if I remember correctly.}

Ed2 said it could never go above 60k , the rail track near by wasn't viable?? What you think ed1 ??

{Ed001's Note - at the moment it can't, but the council and the club are working on a regeneration plan for the area which would change that.}

Hi Ed, are FSG committed to the further extension? Planning permission guarantees made to the council etc? I mean will it follow straight on from the current one? I'm not sure If there is a time scale as to when the next phase has to happen.
The reason I ask, is come 2017 FSG might feel like selling up. So would the possible new owners be obliged to carry out the second phase?
Just asking like. 😊

{Ed001's Note - it is a long way off, nothing has been committed to in that respect.}

Really that is great news , any ideas how long that would take ? 2 years 10 years??

{Ed001's Note - to improve the infrastructure we are talking 10 or more years even.}

Ed1 can I ask you how dose it take that long ?? Why not in 1-2 years say??

Thanks

{Ed001's Note - you have to redo the whole area, it involves compulsory buying hundreds of properties etc.}

Is there a railway track that can be used?? Or will 1 have to be built??

{Ed001's Note - one of the issues is a lack of rail links.}

And the KOP definitely needs re-doing/increasing when they can sort out the infrastructure.

{Ed002's Note - Not planning.}

Didnt Merseyrail look into reopening the old bootle line to passengers a couple of years ago?

Its still used for freight now isn't it?

That could be complete crap like and I'm going off memory.

{Ed001's Note - they always talked about it, but nothing ever seems to happen.}
