If what the BBC and co are reporting is true and Firmino is about to join for such a high fee (wont get into sums and money) then i just can't seem to fathom why so much is being invested into another creater? I know he will improve the team but surely someone who can score lots of goals is what is required right now. If we start with an attacking midfield 3 of Ibe, Coutinho and Firmino what will that bear for the likes of Lallana, Markovic, Texeira and others. don't know what everyone elses thoughts are on the matter including the eds who i know seem to rate the player but surely contextually its not what's needed

Cheers

{Ed002's Note - I am told that Liverpool offered Hoffenheim far more than anyone else and with the player having a low termination clause they were pleased to say yes. Both the Napoli South American scout and a Chelsea representative in Chile tell me that his representative has spoken with a number of clubs but it is Liverpool who were more agreeable to the terms. Nothing is conformed at this time - there are contracts to do and a work permit to organise.}

So could that reported fee of £29m be true Ed002? Seems an awful lot for him if so.

{Ed002's Note - As I have said, Liverpool offered way more than any other side, this got the agreement of Hoffenheim who continued to be concerned about his very low termination clause - although I am not sure why as Bayern Munich dropped their interest and Dortmund and Schalke would likely not been of interest to the player.}

Thanks Ed002, hopefully we get more info in the coming days/weeks to shed more light on it.

Ed, you're not seriously suggesting we made an offer that didn't just put a club or player off doing business with us?!

{Ed001's Note - shocking isn't it? Maybe a sign the club is learning lessons at last?}

I guess it's better than bidding £4M like we usually seem to do. Seems an odd one to me based on our past behavior.

29mln seems a bit high but then 32.5mln for Benteke and 50mln for Sterling seems ridiculous.

Aside from numbers though I think it's a great move, particularly because it's not obvious there were any CL quality strikers available right now. When put in that context, replacing Sterling for Firmino who can play upfront but also on wing or attacking mid as the team requires(particularly while Sturridge is injured) is a great piece of business and I really hope it goes through.

Will be awesome to see the link up play between Couts and Firmino and gives me hope for some excitement next season, something that was sorely lacking in the last.

Ed did he had any third party ownership?

{Ed002's Note - No.}
