Hello ed1 hope u keeping well. Our youth players doing great at minute as regards to coming into 1st team and playing. be it quansah/ jones who started at club at 5/ 6 or likes of elliott/ kelleher/ Bradley who joined at 15/ 16 years old.10 out of the 20 players in squad for arsenal game where youth players who played for academy sides at some stage, which is brilliant. Do u think brexit rules on not allowing English clubs buy young foreign players has actually helped lfc? not clogged up with foreign players who, with respect, not overly interested in lfc more interested in quick buck. if u look at all the foreign lads we brought in from houllier time til brexit the only 1 who could be judged a success is bajectic and he has it to prove yet but does look v good.

{Ed001's Note - impossible to say for sure mate. Houllier had crap coaches who failed to improve players, that was the issue there. The whole youth set up was a mess and has been gradually improved since then. I would say the improvement was more down to improving the academy set up more than anything to do with Brexit.}

Thanks for response ?.

{Ed001's Note - you have to remember Kirkby has only been finished very recently in academy terms. It is usually seen as taking about 10 years for changes to take full effect at youth level.}

Hi Ed, am I right in saying that Rodolfo Berrello (? ) was very good in getting our youth set up going but he was hindered by Benitez putting stops to certain things?
Was t he seen as one of the top youth coaches at the time.

{Ed001's Note - Rafa brought in the guys from Barca's La Masia and then wanted them to have carte blanche to set up Liverpool's academy. It was a lack of funding that caused problems, as Gillett and Hicks ran out of money in the recession and then fell out with each other. Prick Parry then turned on Rafa and tried to block everything he wanted to do.}

I love Rafa, he's Liverpool through and through. I remember hearing that Rafa was making changes to the youth set up and it never seemed to materialise. Ed001, thanks as always for the education, nowhere else on the web has this type of info and that's what sets this website apart.

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate.}

If Rafa was in charge under these owners now, do posters think Rafa would be a good fit for the club. I think he could have been as successful as Klopp has been but, the football wouldn't be as entertaining and I don't think he could keep pace with the consistency of Man City under Pep. I believe he could have got a lot more trophies if he was backed in the transfer windows.
