Yeah very good example of how stats are meaningless and also that just because a player looks great in one team doesn’t mean he’s going to be good elsewhere.
I think agents have a lot to answer for when players move and they are just not suited to the new team.

Good evening Edd, did you mention a few years ago, when we were interested in him, that he had some hearing or balance issues?

{Ed001's Note - yes, due to loud noises.}

Great read, Ed01. I remember watching a lot of RBL in the 17/ 18 season to keep tabs on Naby before he joined us and indeed, they had played the counter press and the quick counter as soon as they won the ball with the likes of Naby and Emil Forster in midfield who could push forward with pace and and power with the precision of Forster's passing so Werner got goals, as you said.

However something struck me at the time. Hassenhutel started benching Werner for George-Kevin Augustin who they got from PSG and I thought that was weird. It told me that Werner seemed to not be that coachable nor able to improve despite his good stats cos Augustin was bagging goals as well but no problem.

Even then, I still believe that had we signed him, Klopp would have made him a lot better and coached him to be an all-round attacking player, like he is doing with Darwin. Just my take.

{Ed001's Note - I am not convinced anyone can coach him. Some players just don't take to it and I think he is one of those.}

Could be, Ed01. I thought it was weird that a player deemed "very good" based on stats and was still getting benched. Hopefully, he can improve even tho, you think he simply ain't one of those guys who can.
