Hi edss and everyone on the site.

I took my son to watch the game yesterday and we had front row tickets and boy do you see a different game.

I have stuck up for moreno through thick and thin. I mean really to exhaustion.

But having watched him yesterday close, I mean I could see the hairs on his chin, I concede defeat.

He got completely out muscled and bullied yesterday. I think he won 1 header in the box and we lost possession everytime the ball went in the air. It was very obvious where the baggies had to attack.

But he looked scared and nervous.

We are close to winning the title imo.
We need players who can come into the team and not need time to settle in. Who can give
A top performance when needed. Moreno just is not good enough to help us to a title.

As for gomez. He had a few sloppy touches and is the future of the club. No issues with his game.

But what left me in awe yesterday was the man mountain, the organiser, the presense, our future captain.

What a player.

He controlled the tempo from the back and ordered not only the defense but the midfielder around.

The signing of VVD reminds me so much of when United signed rio ferdinand.

We need to find him a partner like vidic.

And then we rolling to the title.

A united fan here in peace. I’ve been a follower of VVD since his Celtic days, expected him to make it to the top. However has he really been outstanding yet for you boys? I didn’t see yesterday’s game so can’t comment on performance. I only really see ed001s updates and the odd game on tv. Just interested to see how he’s getting on.

He needs more work Caolan but he's on the right track I think. I wouldn't call him outstanding but definitely a much needed improvement of what we had.

I remember watching him in Scotland, and he just strolled through games (mainly because he was too good for that level) . Probably needs a good partner beside him?

Caolan, VVD has made our defense 100x better, when he has Robbo on his left and when Lovren is actually having a good game which he has of late.

When with a different CB or LB he is the one who stands out over whoever is with him because not only is he doing his job, but he is also doing the job of the others covering their mistakes.

Every game you can see he is on every side of that defence when they go AWOL and it leads to him looking like he’s making mistakes, being out of position, but if he wasn't forced to then we wouldn't have the problems we still have sometimes at the back.
When Lovren is having a good game our defense is truly solid and we have started keeping a fair amount of clean sheets.
He is also very commanding in the air and has probably won more headers since joining, than Lovren+Matip+Klavan have won all season combined (might be exaggerating, don't go all Opta stats on me now lol)

What he needs as OP said, is a Vidic like partner.
Lovren as back up would be good whereas the current backup just leave VVD dealing with everything.
