ed 1 do you think danny ward will start the season in goal.

{Ed001's Note - no idea, it depends on how he gets on over the next week or so, but it seems unlikely to be anyone but Mignolet.}

thanks for you reply ed. pity i think he commands his area better of the three keeper we have.

{Ed001's Note - it does make little sense to use him as a 3rd choice keeper, that is for sure.}

Migs starts the season as the No.1 GK. With Ward's performances from last season and the showing against Atleti, Karius should be very worried though. Can see Karius going out on loan in January if his form does not take an upturn.

It was one of the most stupid things we have ever done rejecting Huddersfield, a prem loan would of been perfect for us and the player to keep improving, shame too as I think he's been really good preseason.

I keep saying this but everyone complaining about Ward not going out on loan, what happens if Migs or Karius gets injured? Or are we supposed to bring in another keeper and let Ward go out on loan? Three keepers are required for a squad and that is what we have. A season of training with the first team, understanding the way we play will do wonders for Ward and who knows maybe he'll be ready to step into the first team next season.

Why would you keep a gk that can start in another team as 3rd choice?
And which gk who knows he can start in another team would be willing to wait for 2 gks ahead of him to get injured for him to get a chance - especially in a world cup year.
I would expect Ward to ask for a transfer or opportunity to go on loan.

It's not down to Ward. It's up to the manager to decide what players he needs to cover what positions for potentially 60+ games a season taking into account the possibility of injuries and suspensions. I'd rather have Ward able to step in than not at all.
