The disagree is truly abhorrent.

Great point Kate. Good post. RIP to all the victims, and love to their families.

Nicee sentiment Kate but I personally think we should leave politics off this site and oh I don't know in the hands of the more than capable politicians. It's simply not Liverpool banter and while the thought was sweet I just don't think these pages are the place for it.

Thanks MK.

There is far too much taboo surrounding homosexuality in football. It's happening. Wish we lived in a world where it didn't matter and people could live the lives that they choose to do without violence and judgement.

I think it's time that clubs became more visible regarding these issues and made the game more inclusive.
I'm not talking about the women's game where there are plenty of "out" people, but the men's game.
It would be extraordinary if there wasn't at least one gay man in every teams squad.

It really has nothing to do with politics, but if you would rather not read them fair enough. I think it's perfectly appropriate to express condolences for a tragedy. Politicians do not come into it, human beings do.

Well said Kate.
Did someone actually put capable and politician in the same sentence then?
Loads of gay footballers and staff in every club not just at least 1.

"Oh I see what your saying you want a quota or minimum number of gay players in each team, this political correctness gone mad what happened was awful a nightmare and for sure the culture in football with this sort of thing is a disgrace but a quota seriojsly, not for me thanks don't think that helps anyone.

Don't think anybody said or suggested a quota mate.

Wow, 'Gazza Rapid' I am a part of the LGBT community, and I am a Liverpool fan.
It is relevant because it could have happened to me because of my sexuality. It might not be about football but it is a big thing that happened as an attack on human beings.
I did not ask for this to be posted on the banter site. I wanted to post because nobody else had and usually, in times of tragedy people like to show solidarity.
Unfortunately, because it's an attack on the LGBT community people aren't so keen to show solidarity.

I most certainly did not discuss a "quota" of gay players. I merely stated that it would be strange if there were not any gay footballers in a large squad.
Thanks. You just prove my point about there still being a big taboo in football regarding homosexuality.
I stand by my post which was intended to express condolences to a minority who are so often brushed under the carpet.

Kate, just ignore the trolling. Clearly homophobia is rife on this site.

This is hardly a political post. It us a post expressing unity amongst humanity, and a post which stands up to discrimination. Something football in more recent times has tried to support and quite rightly. Thomas Hitzlespreger waited until he retired to "come out" because he was so worried about how his team mates and fans would react. Thus post is absolutely relevant to football. It is awful that a man had to hide who he truly is just to have a career.

Sometimes I really am embarrassed by the human race. The amount of disagrees on this thread is absolutely disgusting.

Thanks MK,
I wasn't looking for trouble here, just wanted to spread awareness. It saddens me that so many people our so quick to use our mantra of 'You'll never walk alone' but not prepared to stand by it.
I have to say tho, my partner and I go to most of our home games and have a big group of scouse lads that we meet up with beforehand and never have any problems. It's the keyboard warriors in the basements that are dragging this site down.
