So everyones praising Skrtel, well, I said I was going to start acting like an uber-moron and always go against the grain, so here we go(your fault Ed001, 100% your fault :D).

Skrtel is a warrior in football. He'll put his head in where it hurts and doesn't bat an eyelid. The headband has kind of become a iconic thing for him. But he is still make the same mistakes over and over again.

I'm not saying he didn't do a lot of work today, he did very well with his tackling and with his heading, but the same mistakes are being made, 3 times I found myself saying "he should be offside. " but Skrtel was playing him onside because he dropped deeper than anyone else. He went to ground so often as well, each time he dived in, I cringed like never before. He's also pulling shirts still and making a penalty looking inevitable.

I think we were lucky today, as I firmly believe had we played an in form Arsenal, they'd have put away some of those chances they had. But then again, we could have had 3 goals today too.

Skrtel was immense today, we should support our players no matter what but to criticise them after a quality performance is ridiculous.

Few disagrees but I've hit agree anyway.

Credit where credit is due and Skrtel made a host of good clearances and challenges tonight.

How the majority did not see that he was permanently a yard behind the rest of the defence and from this he helped set up numerous chances for Arsenal.

Yes he was better than usual and a lot of good clearances and challenges but he was also out of position quite often and dropped too deep.

skrtle is very good at what he does; he'll throw himself into last ditch tackles and put his head in where it hurts.
He's a defenders defender, very much in the mould of Hencho or Jamie.
But where they had Big Sami guiding them Skrtle lacks a leader to pull him into position!
We need to appreciate what he brings rather than expecting him to be the new Hansen

Spot on Sean! Who do his fan club think would have gotten the blame had Ramsey's goal been allowed? He was the reason because he drops so deep that the other defenders can't step up or have to step and leave him behind which is what happened on the goal

@redohio, someone needs to scream at Skrtel to get him in line. If you are not going to mark and stop a player then do not drop so deep that you play him onside when your teammates are otherwise defending together.

He got away with that one and he got away with a few others too.

Overall he definitely had one of his better games but it has to be pointed out that he could have easily cost us a few goals as well last night.
