So if Lambert is more likely to stay and if we sign Ings then I presume that we wouldn't actually be going for another striker? As in one to go straight into the starting 11.

Origi is on the way. We'd have Lambert, Sturridge and Ings. Then you have the likes of Sinclair for 5th choice striker. That includes Borini and Balotelli both moving on.

I'm afraid signing Ings is going to block us from going for someone better, we'll have too many strikers.

That's always the case. You should go for the best you could possibly attain. I would rather have looked at Vietto, Jeremy Menez, Bas Dost, Alberto Bueno etc. I hope Ings turns out to be a good signing though. could be but i really don't have faith in "british talent" in general.

Why would you suggest this!? I'm sure Rodgers is looking for another striker to come in and fill the right-back role!

@Brendanthebluffer, Ed001 answered someone else around midnight on Lambert indicating that Lambert doesn't want to go and he is unlikely to go.

Also I would like to add part of the issue (a big part of course) is that Rodgers does not need such a big squad. Last year with Sturridge out all season we had Balotelli, Borini and Lambert on the books. None of them played that much.

Origi and Ings added to the mix, then you'd hope Sturridge would come back to fitness. How could we need Ings if we are to go out and buy someone as good as Sturridge? I don't think we'd use Origi or Ings much if we did so that's why I'm saying, really hope I'm wrong, that I think Ings would be the only striker coming in.

We wouldn't have good enough quality up top but numbers wise we'd have too many on the books to go get another.

For me it looks like Borini and hopefully if we find a buyer Balotelli leaving. That would leave Sturridge, Lambert and Origi as our strikers. Ings would be a good option imo, he is used to the premier league and 10 goals in a relegated side is pretty good, my only concern is his mental strength (he didn't have the nerve to take the penalty). There is no guarantee that any of the other strikers linked with us (Vietto ect) would A. suit the premier league and B. adapt straight away. I think this season we need proven premier league goal scorers and there aren't many of those available
