Read some very interesting stats on another site.

Since being thrashed by UTD we have scored at 2.25 games starting with the draw vs Arsenal. If we continue at this rate we will end on 70 points. (14 x 2.5 + 39 = 70) which is likely to be the minimum requirement to finish top 4 thsi season. Our goals difference is also a shambles.

We still have Spurs, City, Cheslea, UTD and Southampton to play. UTD in 4th are 5 points ahead of us.

Unless we somehow win 11 of our 14 remaining matches then there is no chance of LFC finishing top 4.

Sorry it was supposed to be 14 x 2.25 + 39 = 70.5 but the half point does not count.

You missed Arsenal, unless you are 100% sure we will win away at Arsenal. :)

why is 70 points the minimum? a team could sneak in with 65ish at the rate the top 7 keep dropping points to lower table teams
