Lucas going to inter is getting closer as we were all aware from what you eds have said over the last few months!

This is terrible if we also lose Lucas as well as gerrard and Suarez in the space of a year we are going nowhere fast.

I feel sick at the moment under BR!

Agree we are now no longer the team of last year it's completely down to managemement and the owners not realising that we require the players of a high calibre to compete in this league and it's plain to see that we are struggling to put a run together of consistency

It is a bad time to be loosing him i have to say. Hopefully for Liverpool's sake it doesn't run smooth and the transfer gets delayed until Summer. Its really confusing how you put a player in the team in recent weeks who wants to leave. Especially when he has made a bit of a difference. Has Rodgers shot himself in the foot? Again?

Unless we're planning on purchasing a new CDM then this makes no sense at all. He's our only naturally defensive midfielder not counting the can't tackle, can't pass more than five yards Allen

It's because of stupidity like this that I can't wait to see the back of Rodgers. He is a liability. No wonder top players don't want to play for him.

Gerrard was about time to leave the club, Lucas should have gone at least 3 years ago. And still people moaning. Gerrard, was far from his best the last 2 years, Lucas is simply a mid table team player and it is no wonder why no big team asked for him all these years. We need far better players to challenge even for 4th spot. Now we simply make space to get some better players in the future.

Thing is Pirate, Lucas is the most effective player we have in that position at this moment, there will be no replacement if he goes in this transfer window, once again leaving us down to the Allen and Gerrard to cover CDM and seeing as that combination led to us getting spanked by Newcastle, Villa, Palace et al I would argue that letting Lucas go to allow that to happen again would be criminally negligent to say the least.
Also, it's not fair to say that Lucas is average or mediocre as its his presence in midfield that has made us more solid.
I for one would be sorry to see lucas leave, if any one needs to go I'd happily pay the bus fare for Joe Allen and Glen Johnson as Inter are welcome to them.

Mr. Dennis please enlighten me why we bought Can. Wasn't it to replace Lucas? He might be the most effective player we have at that position, but he is by no means a good CDM.
He picks up yellow cards consistently due to rushing tackles, he can't shoot, he can't pass except sideways and backways, he can't dribble. All he can do is watch the space around him picking up dead balls and tackle.
Can will develop to a far better option than him and certainly I won't be afraid that he will be missing for the rest of the season.
Joe Allen is not a CDM.

It may have escaped your attention that as soon as Lucas came back into the starting 11 we stopped losing games.
Before Lucas came back in, the person Rodgers was using Gerrard and Allen as defensive midfielders, who made the grand total of zero tackles between them in virtually every game and left us exposed all the time.
Can probably is the long term defensive midfielder(Although with his shooting, running with the ball and vision seems a waste of talent. ), but is he ready for that right now? I don't think he is, if we need to ship anyone out, then make it Allen, as he can't tackle, can't pass more than 5 yards backwards or sideways, loses possession and gets knocked off the ball easier than a plastic bag blowing in the wind, can't shoot, doesn't create chances and is physically weak. don't ship out a player who is an effective part of the team.

It may have escaped your attention that we changed our system. Nothing to do with Lucas.
Lucas, Allen and many other players need to go. We bought Can, who can tackle, dribble shoot clearly with potential to be a far better option than Lucas. Yet you boo hoo that we will lose one of the most overrated players(only by our fans) in the team. Again Allen is not a CDM I don't get your obsession with him. He is not replacement of Lucas. CAN IS!

When you say "change of tactics", I'll draw your attention to the game at old Trafford, same tactics that we've been using the last few weeks, 3-4-3 formation, with Joe Allen and Gerrard as defensive midfielders and Lucas dropped. result? We got hammered, they were able to run through our midfield at will. Yes, Lucas isn't mascherano, Makalele, Matic etc, however he is consistant, disciplined, he is a good tackler and he doesn't shirk a challenge.
Just remember 12 games with lucas out of the team there were 6 defeats 12 games with him in and 1 defeat.
That is no coincidence.
Take into account that there is NO money to play with, why sell the list effective player you have in a particular position for peanuts with no effective replacement, never mind the fact that Can would be wasted as just a defensive midfielder, he looks a force of nature driving forward and Rossiter is nowhere near ready for such a crucial position.
