Happy with the win but I expect people will jump on the bandwagon that Gerrard proved tonight he shouldn't leave etc.
I don't think anyone genuinely has ever doubted Gerrard's ability with a dead ball or his passing but we were playing Wimbledon AFC! So I expected him to look and play slightly better as they are of a lower standard. no offence.
You don't get teams like that in the prem. hence why Gerrard has struggled in games. much higher tempo, pressing, ability. other then his goals.nothing much to write home about IMO.
Annoyed Rodgers chose to use Gerrard up top only now though.offers more there than at cdm. pretty sure everyone's been saying he should play further forward!
Think the move at the end of the season is the correct one though.slower pace in the mls. don't think anyone should get carried away with tonights goals. just be happy with the win and hope we win against Sunderland. another tough game!

What gerrard could offer us now is debateable. But what he offered us during his whole tenure of this club have been simply astonishingly. He deserve to finish with the club he has started.

He obviously feels he could play but what irks me is when Alan Shearer pointed out a valid point, players in their 30's know that their playing time would be managed but they want to feel that they are contributing in big games. Rodgers leaving gerrard out of the real madrid game must have hurt him.

Gerrard played a Real Madrid game and they gave us a rite hiding. He was then dropped for the next one. Gerrard has got plenty of big games this season.

Gerrard is a decent CAM, but then you ll have drop some notable names to play him there.

I thought Gerrard was fantastic last night, not only scoring two great goals but his involvement in every attack we had was great. I don't think he missed the ball under pressure once or gave a bad pass all evening. I know they are not a premier league side but I think in this forward position he can still be tremendous even in the PL. I was less impressed with Coutinho and Markovich though. Yes they can run with the ball into empty spaces but their poor final decision, passing, finishing and inability to fight on the ball with a defender without falling down and lose it is worrying (and I am awere the free kick we scored came from a foul on Courinho). Defensively I was really impressed with Sakho. I thought we was very solid, can't remember him losing a ball and losing a one on one challange with their strikers. Yes he will struggle more with PL attackers but for me, he should be the first on the team sheet defensively.
Finally, and I didn't change my view on this one bit from the first day of the season: despite all his weaknesees Baloteli is world apart from Lambert and when both fit I cannot see any reason in the world why Lambert is preferred. On his first 5 minutes on the pitch the Italian looked more dangerous than Lambert looked the whole night. Especially with Gerrad in a froward position I think Mario can do much mroe with his accurate passing than Ricky.

I can't say I saw what shearer said, but if that's what he's implying then I think he's very unfair

From reading what you put he's essentially saying, let the young lads play the team you want to beat in the league, run their ass off, close down, give everything to the club, but when you play the bigger teams in europe, drop them after their hard work and let and old timer play so he can get a run out? Am I reading that context correctly? If so what a load of Horse manure.

Also Stevie got the goalsyes, but he was so lazy in that final 3rd walking around swinging his arms from side to side, I've still no doubt with some 1 else pressing we'd have gotten more.

I don't think Stevie deserves to finish his career with the club, if he won't take a paycut to reflect his stature in the squad, or a reduction in game time. I think quite the opposite, that he'd be holding the team back severely with finances and games if we pandered to him
