According to Football365 (no idea on reliability), Liverpool are in "advanced talks" with Xabi Alonso to take over from Slot.
If agreed it will be done during the international break.

I keep getting asked the same thing over and over and over about Slot.
Bookmark this, stick it on your fridge this is my information and that is final.
Slot was told months ago his position at Liverpool was virtually done.
His family arrangements haven't helped, discussions over a termination went amicable and Slot was happy to work on until the summer.
Edwards spoke to Fabregas in Como, nothing came of it.
Luis Enrqique's agent spoke with Liverpool, very difficult as he's invested into the project at PSG. Would love to manage LFC in the future
Talks with Gerrard went positive regarding a interim role, club decided to stick with Slot. Gerrard is there if FSG change their minds.
Hoeness is very well regarded and could be considered. I would think as a second option to Alonso. Would jump at the chance to manage LFC
Xabi Alonso though is and always has been the main candidate, wants the job and will most likely get it this summer.
If Slot wins a Champions league does it change things? This is a two way street and Slot seems happy to go back home. I personally don't see that changing things but you never know.
The conclusion - Slot leaves this summer Xabi Alonso joins LFC.

Nice one, Carra. ?
25 Mar 2026 13:15:34
Nice summary, Carra.
Hopefully we do win the Champions League.
25 Mar 2026 13:17:05
Thanks, Carra...
You are the best ? ?
Also... will Slot be here after this International break????
25 Mar 2026 13:17:26
Thanks, Carra.
25 Mar 2026 13:17:37
Top top man, Carra.
Thank you! This season can't end quick enough.
25 Mar 2026 13:28:15
Just hypothetically speaking, what are people's thoughts on Gerrard being an assistant/coach with Alonso?
25 Mar 2026 13:32:03
Cheers, Carra
At least that's put to bed now.
25 Mar 2026 13:32:24
But what about Slot???? Just kidding ? Thanks, as always, Carra. I'd be very happy with Hoeness, looks like the closest thing to a reincarnation of Klopp. Ynwa.
25 Mar 2026 13:33:47
Don't think he'd take it, Willo.
Has been said many times on here that he wants to be no.1.
25 Mar 2026 13:35:09
Thanks, Carra. I would be inclined to agree with your prediction as the most likely scenario.
I don't believe Slot wants to be here next season even if he wasn't sacked.
The bigger question now is what is happening upstairs given the recent announcement that they have paused the multi-club strategy.
25 Mar 2026 13:32:03
Maybe one of the Eds can book mark this a la fatwallet we won't sign isak. he he
Thx carra
Can't wait for the floods of RTFP that will ensue.
25 Mar 2026 13:35:54
Willo, that would be my dream ticket. I think Ed001 has said on occasions in the past that Stevie is a very good coach (as shown by his stint here with the youth teams) but not a good manager. We obviously know all about Stevie's passion, especially for this club.
Not sure if it will happen, Stevie would have to swallow his pride3 a bit having managed teams before, but I think the two of them could boss the team as they used to boss midfield.
Add Milner to that, and that would be a return to the bootroom, imho.
25 Mar 2026 13:38:52
Thanks, Carra. Gutted he is going to be here till the summer.
Wisp, I would like Gerrard as part of Alonso team because no matter what people think about him he has an aura about him that would make bringing players here even more attractive because he is without doubt one of the very best players to have played in the Premier League.
25 Mar 2026 13:46:31
Thanks Carra, it's a very regrettable decision by Edwards. We are lumbered with a manager who couldn't be arsed until the end of the season. That's going to cost us CL football next season, in my opinion.
25 Mar 2026 13:51:10
You've cleared everything up, Carra, apart from the big question that you keep dodging.
Who is the window cleaner from Formby?
25 Mar 2026 13:51:32
Great info. Much appreciated. ??
25 Mar 2026 13:54:19
Gerrard Milner and Alonso .... Nice thinking. My heart likes the idea of a return to the Boot Room...
Wouldn't mind a Lallana to that too.. (think he's taking badges).
Hah, bring back God too ..
Just imagine if he could pass on even half what he knows about scoring goals ..... What a coaching line up .. If we do rubbish .. we can just sub them all on ...
25 Mar 2026 14:05:53
Zedd & Mighty, yeah, adding Milner into the equation would be incredible - we can but dream!
25 Mar 2026 14:07:53
Carra getting this printed on my fridge magnets! lol.
There is no doubting Carra is ITK and one of the most reliable on here. He stated Salah would be off months ago, and here we are.
Thanks, Carra, we appreciate the info, all looking good.
PS, Enrique would be keen to manage LFC in the future - the future looks bright compared to this bleak season!
25 Mar 2026 14:56:54
Honestly, some people just need to chill out. Every week it's the same tripe over and over.
It will be the same when Xabi goes through a rough patch, the same people will be out in force, demanding that Carra or whoever gives them good information that aligns with their own narrative.
25 Mar 2026 15:10:57
Cheers, Carra. What's the latest on Slot? Wink wink.
25 Mar 2026 15:16:02
Willo, I would love Stevie to be on the bench with Alonso, but even if he got offered a role, I think he's too obnoxious to be 2nd fiddle.
25 Mar 2026 15:29:16
I'm a firm believer that a manager (don't agree with Head Coaches) should select their own backroom team, and I'm certain that's what will happen.
You need someone who is going to implement your system and keep the players focussed on the manager's plans.
Someone with their own ideas will only complicate matters. An assistant needs to be humble. Not sure it's Gerrard's gig, if I'm honest.
{Ed025's Note - hes as humble as Joey Barton Ron.. :)
25 Mar 2026 15:53:44
Carra, it's only a bar fridge but it's all yours. Cheers.
25 Mar 2026 17:02:43
Fully agree with you, Ron. Alonso will bring his own crew. And rightly so.
25 Mar 2026 17:17:41
Get Alonso in, get Olisse for rw and Diomande for left, and a bloody good dm with steel. Need a rb probably too. Need to clear out a few too, Mac, Konate, Curtis and Gomez should all be considered. If rumours true, Gakpo wants to go even better.
25 Mar 2026 18:03:20
Thanks for the info, Carra, as always. If you can feedback to the club, tell them they've destroyed our season and negligible for allowing this season to unravel just because they don't like "interims".
25 Mar 2026 18:22:15
Bob Hoeness, I'll have a YNWA please. We'll be on a gold run with him. Sporting Sebs are always winners. Seb Coe, Seb Vettel. Boom. Here we go.
25 Mar 2026 19:37:31
So @Carra, my £10 bet on Hodgson is highly likely a non starter.
25 Mar 2026 11:58:09
Has anyone else seen the Twitter post saying that there is no current view that Slot will be moved on in the summer - with plenty of mitigating circumstances explaining this season!

Delaney of the Independent says Liverpool are happy with Slot and he will be the manager next season. Over to Carra /Fields/ and Robbo for their take on it.
25 Mar 2026 12:30:48
There will be no decisions made when we're still alive in the CL, FA Cup and CL qualification.
Also, they will wait for the right person. That may mean Slot doing a Rodgers and having the first 8 games or so.
25 Mar 2026 12:34:22
You can almost guarantee it's just one geezer going against the grain, so that, on the miniscule chance that Slot does stay, he can say "I'm the only one who called it!"
I don't see how Slot survives this season unless we win the Champions League. If he does manage that, then he deserves another year to get it right in the league anyway.
25 Mar 2026 12:39:22
Exactly, MK. Winning the Champions League is the only condition for Slot to still be in charge come next season.
25 Mar 2026 12:39:36
It's on Dave O Kops' feed on X.
25 Mar 2026 12:39:37
But nothing is going to change the way we play in the PL. CL football is very different to the Premier League, and Slot is suddenly not going to change to a pressing team from a team that does very little running.
25 Mar 2026 12:48:28
Slot's done. He knows it, the club knows it, the players know it. Delaney is full of it.
25 Mar 2026 13:03:57
Absolute balls. ?
25 Mar 2026 13:12:37
Grav7
Slot will leave, not be sacked, like I've said for a while. He will "resign". He won't be the manager next season, regardless of if he wins the Champions League or not.
Gerrard is waiting if he's needed.
Alonso will be manager next season.
25 Mar 2026 13:18:00
Clickbait...
And, some have clearly fallen for it.
25 Mar 2026 14:50:29
It doesn't sit well with me that some fans want him gone no matter if he hits Champions League qualification for next yr or not.
I have been a season ticket holder since the late 70's and the football is gash, but so was Rafa's yrs in charge when we ended up winning the Champions League.
I believe we are all entitled to an opinion. And I didn't think we would win the league last yr after Klopp's final yr fell apart, with 5 league games to go. Even with Klopp, the squad of players who won the league the following yr look gassed at this stage of the season.
Some are saying we are being out run this season because of Slot, maybe, but we finished 16th in the running stats last season when nobody brought up being out run, or not fit.
My opinion is the same as it was for the last 3 seasons when we play 3 games a week, this squad struggles and we need a manager in charge, not a head coach, but I still wouldn't sack him if he wins old big ears.
25 Mar 2026 18:23:15
Delaney is a comedian.
He's married to that oaf-vacuum Sarah Millicant
24 Mar 2026 20:54:53
Hi all,
As I previously reported after the Leeds game, Salah has now agreed to terminate his contract with the club. This is something that's been in negotiations for months, beginning around the time of Leeds away.
The club are in deep negotiations with Bayern regarding a deal for Michael Olise. Additionally, Galatasaray winger Sallai is viewed as a backup, should Olise not sign.
{Ed025's Note - good stuff VG...cheers for sharing mate..

24 Mar 2026 21:14:18
No thanks to any of the Galatasaray players, they are s****.
24 Mar 2026 21:18:46
Not sure why we would terminate his contract. Salah has been a great servant to the club, but surely we should be taking a transfer fee for a player that has to be worth 40/50 million.
24 Mar 2026 21:24:16
Salah might not want to go to Saudi? They are pretty much the only ones likely to pay £50m for him after all.
24 Mar 2026 21:30:33
Olise down to Sallai seems a hefty drop off.
28, is he not a right back?
Rather do a Bowen, if pickings are that slim.
Thank you for sharing mate.
24 Mar 2026 21:35:26
Not Diomande?
24 Mar 2026 21:43:02
What's he on? £400k per week?
That's 20 million a year in wages.
By terminating his contract, it's like receiving a £20m transfer fee.
Besides, legends of the club should be allowed to choose their next destination. Salah has deserved that. I'm pleased the club has taken this approach.
Good luck, Mo. Guaranteed an ovation whenever he's at Anfield. A legend of the club.
24 Mar 2026 21:48:48
Salai?! Hard pass, if they bring in a player of that quality to replace Salah, we are truly f***ed. The guy can't even hit double figures for goal contributions. Besides, we already have 1 makeshift RW that we brought in as a RB that has left us unsure as to what position he was actually brought in for, we don't need a second, thanks.
24 Mar 2026 21:59:03
Roland Sallai? Roy Hodgson years are back again.
24 Mar 2026 22:01:31
From Salah to Sallai.
24 Mar 2026 22:26:02
Next will be Salllaj.
24 Mar 2026 22:55:22
Sallai is as close to a Salah replacement as you can get. Change one letter, remove one l, and boom.
Jokes aside, there's simply no way.
There's no prime Salah replacement out there.
Olise, I'm sure we're trying. If we can pull off a miracle and get Champions League under Slot, perhaps.
Diomande seems a better bet for me.
25 Mar 2026 00:56:07
Olise would be seriously impressive. Diomande seems to want us and would be an excellent plan B. Personally, think we need both if Carra is correct and Gakpo is off. Can we finance it? Who knows.
29-year-old RB Sallai has to be a joke?
25 Mar 2026 04:38:47
Thanks VG...
Appreciate the info mate.
Keep it coming. ????
25 Mar 2026 08:23:42
Surely you've mixed up the names here, mate?
Galatasaray do have a very good winger (Baris Alper Yilmaz) who I think would be a good signing. He can play RW, LW and CF. Plus he's only 25 and is probably the quickest player I've seen play against us since prime Theo Walcott. Yilmaz also has 10 goals and 14 assists this season, which is not to be sniffed at.
Sallai is an RB though. 28 years old. Can't really beat a man. Has occasionally played as a RWB. Only has 1 goal and 6 assists this season.
If Yilmaz is the alternative to Olise, I'm not fussed at all as I think both would do very well for us. In fact, I think Yilmaz is more suited to the Premier League as he's much more robust, and Olise struggled with multiple serious hamstring injuries when he played in the Premier League, which might be an indicator that the pace of English football is too much for him.
The only injury that has ever kept Yilmaz out for more than 1 game was a broken foot, and he was still back after just 5 games. Olise is quite clearly the more technically gifted player though. Yilmaz is just a battering ram.
The only way Sallai even remotely makes sense as a Salah replacement is if the club see Frimpong as more of a RW than a RB, and Sallai came in to play at RB and free Frimpong up to play further forward even if Bradley is injured. That seems like a stretch though.
25 Mar 2026 10:00:52
Agree with a lot of what you say there, MK, but I think you're being a bit harsh on Yilmaz.
I think he's as skilful as Olise, not as quick, but definitely stronger on the ball, higher work rate, and very clever, skilful player.
He'd be a great signing.
25 Mar 2026 10:50:46
Just to clarify re Sallai.
My understanding is that in the event of Olise not being possible, Sallai would be brought in as backup to Jeremie Frimpong, who can play on the wing.
Bayern want Gakpo and there's a possibility of some sort of swap deal + cash being organised there. Everything hinges on UCL qualification.
25 Mar 2026 11:01:35
Thanks for the info, Victor.
25 Mar 2026 11:38:58
Ron, am I misreading or are you saying you think Yilmaz is not as quick as Olise? Because Olise is not anywhere near as fast as Yilmaz. Olise is more like a Payet or Cherki type player. He can beat a man if they overcommit because the ball sticks to his feet like it's glued there, but he's not what I would describe as fast.
Yilmaz on the other hand, I genuinely cannot think of a quicker player we've faced since Walcott circa 2007-2010. I was absolutely stunned when Yilmaz strode past Szoboszlai and made him look like Mac Allister. Dom is no slouch and Yilmaz made him look like he was running in lead boots.
I didn't mean my original comment to sound harsh on Yilmaz though. Like you say, he's stronger on the ball and works a lot harder. He can also comfortably play both sides. I'd really like to see him in a Liverpool shirt next season. He's exciting, and when you watch Galatasaray pressing, they're relentless. He's a huge part of that. With Olise you're not going to get any pace in behind, and he is not going to press for the team. I honestly just don't see what he'll add to the team that a 33 year old Salah doesn't offer. If we want a relatively slow winger (who won't make a tackle) to cut back onto their left foot and curl the ball towards goal or the back post, we might as well be keeping Salah.
To be abundantly clear, Diomande is the winger I want. I posted on the Discussions page already but in order to get the best out of Isak and Ekitike I think we need blistering pace on both sides. Diomande should be the main priority for the RW as he is going to be elite, but after that I'd go for someone for the LW with a similar profile to Sadio Mane when we signed him all them years ago. 21-25 years old, aggressive, lightning quick, direct, and with the potential to score 10+ goals a season. Gordon, Yilmaz, Minteh, Ouattara etc. We have signed Wirtz and not given him any runners to pick out. We've signed Isak and not given him any out and out wingers to provide him with the service he thrived on at Newcastle. All 4 of those players I just listed also press out of possession like it's their primary job in the team. The new signings should be all about maximising the potential of Wirtz and Isak/Ekitike. Otherwise we've just blown £300m.
For me, Olise is just going to come short for the ball, drift infield getting in the way of Wirtz, and carry on doing exactly what an aging Salah's been doing this season. It's an outrageously expensive deal and if the links are true, I have to seriously question who has looked at our squad an decided that we need another winger who lacks genuine pace to beat a decent full back, and wants to come inside at every opportunity. Rio makes such a difference when he comes on because he is very fast and wants to beat his man on the outside or drive into the box. He's not even that great right now, he's just stylistically exactly what we're lacking and therefore he gives the team balance.
25 Mar 2026 12:25:56
Victor, who is being tasked with arranging the targets and negotiations? If we are to believe Hughes is one foot out the door, as is Slot, so who is in control or even advising the players of interest if the two people previously at the heart of buying and using these players are going, unless of course one or neither are leaving?
25 Mar 2026 12:49:39
Hughes is still continuing sporting director work for the club as things stand. Edwards is doing his part too, albeit heavily disappointed with the club currently.
25 Mar 2026 13:47:32
So full research mode lol.
Considering Xabi comes in, and Considering he sets up like Leverkusen did.
Might actually make sense Sallai (that is).
Xabi played with wingbacks and two AM...
2 + 2 and getting 9 lol.
Olise as AM as opposed to wing.

24 Mar 2026 20:14:22
Nice. I'm sure the club are happy as it distracts people from the fraud in charge who should be leaving.
24 Mar 2026 20:23:32
Bit surprised we are terminating his contract, thought we would look for a fee for him considering there is still 1 year left on his contract.
Or keep him, and possibly a new manager could get something out of him.
24 Mar 2026 20:30:29
Seems a bit odd we aren't getting a fee, we are in desperate need of replacements. And with no CL football we are going to be lacking more funds.
{Ed025's Note - a fee would be good of course Dean, but just getting him off the wage bill will be a shot in the arm for the club mate..
24 Mar 2026 21:12:22
Not when we're doing stupid stuff like handing out £250k-a-week contracts to Gakpo, Ed25. The club have become incredibly profligate over the last 12 months.
{Ed025's Note - i suppose its the going rate these days BR even for average players like Gakpo mate, the money these player get now is ridiculous but i suppose teams can afford to pay it..
24 Mar 2026 21:30:50
Salah is on £20m per year plus bonuses, so it saves our wage bill significantly. I would assume Salah has no intention of going to Saudi just yet, and no European club will pay a fee and take on such high wages, so the best middle ground is release him on a free to another European club and save wages rather than Salah seeing out his contract and it being a lose-lose for club and player.
Salah's fee has been well and truly paid back 10-fold, so I'm happy he gets his move and leaves a club legend!
{Ed025's Note - it works for me Dow-ney mate..
24 Mar 2026 22:06:31
Salah has been below 50% successful dribbles since the 2020 season.
With the loss of pace, passing going awry and potential the magic goal dust has evaporated, I don't see Mo ending up in any of the major European leagues.
24 Mar 2026 22:12:10
Dribble rate? Behave, Faith. He broke goal and assists records last year that's all that matters.
25 Mar 2026 04:42:55
Oooohhhhhhh.... Let's not get started on how much more walking and less running, with a decrease in the amount of ground coverage he has been doing since he started walking as well...
The man is a legend, he will leave a legend.
Age is catching up with him... which makes him human, because at times he was super human for us.
Happy he gets to go on his terms, fully deserved.
Let's just enjoy him for the last few games.
We are gonna miss him.
25 Mar 2026 05:52:32
Seeing Salah go from golden boot to leaving the club in a season is so sad. Still can't help feeling that the style of play is what has impacted his form.
Really mixed feelings on this, but what a legend.
25 Mar 2026 07:16:21
The bloke is a legend - won everything at the club, and if football wasn't crooked, would have been awarded the Balon D'Or on more than one occasion. Let the man leave with his dignity and not be sold off at a knock down price to the highest bidder.
25 Mar 2026 07:18:47
Mo leaves a legend. Thanks for everything and all the best. ❤️
25 Mar 2026 07:33:20
I was replying to another comment on another thread about how dangerous Mo has been.
And it's algoods, Frode, I've been making the point since 2020 that Mo isn't our most important player for a variety of reasons.
Fully recognize he is a club legend and will leave as one. Hopefully in these last few months he can leave with a bit of gloss to the end of his time at the club.
25 Mar 2026 08:09:37
Let's just hope Salah goes out on a bang with some goals before the end of the season. If he can drive us to top 4 or even a cup, that would be amazing, and will allow him to be remembered as the legend he is at the club. Maybe, the pressure being relieved from him may improve his recent performances. But his numbers are legendary.
25 Mar 2026 09:39:49
Is a move to the MLS an option at all?
25 Mar 2026 09:58:41
In reality, we owe Salah a big thank you for agreeing to terminate his contract because he could have sat at LFC all next season on his high wages and then walked away on a free.
We may not have got a fee for him, but in the long run it will work out well for all parties.
Thank you, Mo, you are a legend. YNWA.

Reckon there's still plenty of life in him. Unfortunately, because our manager's lost his marbles, it's not easy to tell how much of his poor form is really him getting old.
24 Mar 2026 19:12:41
Well, let's remember Mo on his whole 9 years, and not just this season. He's been nothing short of incredible. And one of the main parts of our success, let's not forget that. True Anfield great and great fella to boot. ??
24 Mar 2026 19:15:39
Thanks Mo, a true legend!
I am calling it now though, Alonso will be the new Manager and bye bye wingers, hello wingbacks and a back 3.
He won't be wanting a repeat of Madrid.
24 Mar 2026 19:21:07
End of an era. Absolute legend him and deserves to be talked about in the same conversation as Dalglish, Keegan, Hunt, Rush, Barnes as one of the greatest to ever pull on a Liverpool shirt. He has the goals and the trophies to back it up.
24 Mar 2026 19:31:16
Thank you for everything, Mo.
Forever a legend at this great club.
YNWA.
24 Mar 2026 19:43:39
Molby Magic, I don't think it mattered what formation he played at Madrid, they just didn't like working hard. He will defo play 4 at the back, I'm sure of it. A manager who plays 3 at the back was the reason we didn't employ Amorim.
24 Mar 2026 19:46:36
Absolute legend and always will be. Looking forward to seeing the rebuild with Xabi at the helm.
{Ed025's Note - yeah interesting times ahead Skezza..
24 Mar 2026 20:17:44
A legend, it's the right time, it's a nice chunk off the wage bill, his legacy is secure, we don't need to watch him fade, and I very much look forward to seeing Mane, Bobby and Mo in the legends team in a few years, that front 3, what a show they put on for us.
Thanks for the memories, I cashed in my pension after we lost the first Madrid final, so my lad and I could go to as many games as possible for non-season ticket holders, sensing a special period, we weren't disappointed. When I'm still working at 85 I may regret it.
{Ed025's Note - good stuff Eddie..
24 Mar 2026 20:50:39
One of the all time first 11. Zero doubt. A privilege to have him play for the club. A further privilege to have seen him in his prime. Icon.
24 Mar 2026 22:00:50
I don't like to see a legend fade. It's better this way, my guess is he'll go to MLS.

We will look back in a few years and see the Klopp years as halcyon days, Salah, Robertson and Van Dijk all that's left.
24 Mar 2026 22:58:50
They say in business that your first loss is your best loss, and points at things to come. Taking a 450k per week player off the books gets us back towards a sustainable wage structure. Now we don't have to wage match every signing to that level.
24 Mar 2026 18:54:26
Salah announced he is leaving at the end of the season. I assume we'll be selling him and not releasing him from his contract.

Free agent.
24 Mar 2026 19:17:47
Free agent apparently. I don't mind that, the man owes us nothing.
24 Mar 2026 19:25:28
Ben Jacob reporting it's on a free.
24 Mar 2026 19:28:45
Confirmed on a free transfer.

I really think it is for the best for all concerned that Mo Salah moves on to pastures new and I for one wish him the best in all he does.
It is the end of an era, let's hope we have someone to take Mo.
Thank you Mo for the fantastic times.

I don't know if @Fields, @Robbo, @Carra, etc can confirm (the golfers will have better info than me, lol), but it does appear that Both Hughes and Edwards will be leaving at the end of the season. This is not based on Keys' useless reports, but a comment to me from a journalist friend who is usually Very reliable.

The ITKs can neither confirm nor deny, however, they can confirm that something, or nothing, may happen at the end of the season.
24 Mar 2026 10:53:16
I'll put my neck on the line and say Hughes will leave for sure.
Edwards is upset at the owners for putting the breaks on buying a second club.
Nothing is confirmed at this point, but certainly, both could leave this summer.

Hopefully paving the way for Jurgen to return.
24 Mar 2026 11:45:52
I can't see JK returning as I believe he is holding out for the Germany job.
24 Mar 2026 11:53:17
Thanks, Carra.
Think a clean sweep is needed and Hughes, Edwards and Slot need to go.
It does look like Slot will be here until the end of the season (incredible as it sounds).
24 Mar 2026 12:10:26
Carra, any confirmation on Slot?
24 Mar 2026 12:24:49
Hi Diddly Ho,
Just on a personal-none ITK perspective but I don't think Jurgen will return to the club, I'm fairly certain he's extremely proud of what he achieved.
The only job I can see him taking in terms of coaching again in the future is the German NT.
That said, looking forward to him being back in the dugout for the Legends game, we should definitely abduct him for the remainder of the season, anyone got a decent cellar the club can use?
Diddly out
24 Mar 2026 12:52:51
Has Hughes' time been seen as a failure? I thought the owners wanted stability and long term appointments.
Edwards was the driving force behind Isak, who in my mind will undoubtedly be considered a flop when all is said and done.
I hope Edwards stays to work alongside Xabi.
24 Mar 2026 13:05:38
To be honest, you can't really blame FSG for taking a step back on multi club ownership given the economic situation. If Edwards has had a hissy fit over that, then maybe the role isn't for him.
24 Mar 2026 13:14:08
If the multi-club plan has been shelved, then surely Edwards will be made redundant?
24 Mar 2026 13:25:34
@FSW, just to confirm. You think that Isak is a flop and Edwards is responsible for it, but you want him to stay on and work with the next manager?
24 Mar 2026 13:28:00
Nothing will be decided until the summer.
Ta.
24 Mar 2026 13:36:17
Either way you look at it, we are clueless on the pitch with no ideas, no style of play, and most importantly, no intensity. Training methods have robbed players of fitness, we need a fresh start.
Off the field it doesn't get any better, dawdling on making decisions, no clear plan, just hit and hope. This summer is the biggest summer as a club in over a decade. If all 3 are gone ??, we need the right approach to personal who will bring the fire and fight back as Arne Slot is as boring as they come. How he can inspire you to play your best and try your hardest is beyond me.
The club must surely see this, the fans have given up on him now, so have the players. But there is still lots to play for, we need to go back to basics and just play quicker and run more and want it more, the fans will be all over that and we will surely finish season strong.
I'm afraid Arne Slot is on borrowed time, and if he doesn't go I seriously question the club and my ability to get fully behind the team with this soul destroying slow paced football we've become accustomed to.
24 Mar 2026 13:38:00
Does that include Slot too, Carra?
24 Mar 2026 13:39:56
Flipping heck, Carra, spoil my day, why don't yah? :-))
24 Mar 2026 13:50:20
Cheers, Carra. When you say nothing will be decided until summer, is that to do with Hughes and Edwards' future or Slot being sacked and a new manager being installed?
24 Mar 2026 13:59:47
They're waiting to see if we fluke the Champions League, that's it.
Coz let's face it, if he wins the Premier League and European Cup in his first two seasons, that's ridiculous, and he'd have to stay on, simple as that.
24 Mar 2026 14:50:45
I don't think I can stomach much more of Slot ball.
24 Mar 2026 15:20:15
Edwards could learn from the Isak deal and go back to finding rough diamonds like Bobby, Mane and Mo, and besides, Alonso is and was his first choice for manager, so I'd personally like to see how that combination works.
Hughes does not sound like a Liverpool man by all accounts - SA/Dubai will suit him better.
24 Mar 2026 15:41:28
LiverpoolFC8, Surely, even winning the Champions League can save Slot his job... If we win and he stays, I think a lot of fans will give up their tickets and support. Only a one way street now.
24 Mar 2026 16:22:30
That's it... Carra is now officially on Santa's naughty list.... Bloody hell, mate!!!
24 Mar 2026 16:44:05
LiverpoolFC8, why can't he be let go of if he wins the CL this season? I can think of many managers who won trophies then were sacked before the next season started, and at least one who has won the CL then been sacked.
If it's best for the club then it's the right decision. Slot ball is awful and dull, and the players look devoid of any fight. He has to go.
24 Mar 2026 17:44:01
It's been known for a while, Hughes will be leaving. I have mentioned exactly that on a few occasions.
I understand Edwards will not be leaving in the summer.
Slot is done, whether that is before the season finishes or not, he's done.
Gerrard has already agreed to take over as interim if needed, and the club decide to pull the plug before the end of the season.
24 Mar 2026 18:26:29
Thanks, Robbo.
If the decision is to let Slot go, then do it now.
Give the interim manager something to fight for.
Waiting until we are out of CL or can't any longer qualify for next season's CL is really unfair on the interim manager.
Yes, it should have been done earlier, but if it's to be done, then do it now.
If they decide not to sack him now in this international break, then stick with him to the end of the season. Not what I would go with, imo, as I'd want an interim to be able to fight for something.
